We had a wonderful vacation at Jose's house. He and his wife were extremely welcoming and friendly and responded promptly to every need. The house is very large and equipped with everything you need, but the real gem is the garden and barbecue. The house is independent, car parking is in front of the house and is accessed with a remote-controlled gate, so it is also very convenient for unloading luggage. The house is about a twenty-minute drive from Viana, but the road is quiet and not very busy. Nearby there is a small supermarket, a pastry bar and some good places to have lunch and dinner, such as the O Cabecudo restaurant which was really great. It is also worth visiting Ponte de Lima to see the village and the Roman bridge. I look forward to staying with Jose again for a new vacation.

We spent 4 weeks at Natalia's place in May 2025. It is a lovely, spacious, family home with character and had everything we needed. We enjoyed the sun terrace for eating outside and relaxing, reading. Large kitchen and dining room. Upstairs has a comfortable lounge area. Bedrooms were generous sizes, 2 of them have their own private bathrooms. The other 2 share a bathroom. A beautiful mature and fully fenced garden which was secure and great for our dog. Location great, 15 to 20 mins drive to the nearby towns of either Ponte de Lima or Viano Do Costello, both of which well worth spending some time exploring. Both towns have an abundance of amenities eg supermarkets, restaurants, cafes etc. We also did day trips to Porto and Braga which are 1 hour or less away by car. Within a few steps of the house you have the river Lima with beach and picnic area on its banks, and the "Ecovia" trails for walking, cycling. The setting is truly stunning. Overall, a wonderful place.

Everything was great & we got great recommendations for the area. Upon arrival, we met at a nearby cafe and were escorted to the accommodation. On site, we were very warmly welcomed and received the first information. After half the stay, we even got fresh towels. Unfortunately, two things are not apparent from the description: the view of the lake is obscured by trees & you have direct neighbors. But that didn't bother us & we would always come back!

We had a wonderful stay at Casa de Vilar de Rei where we spent two weeks as a family. If you are looking for a peaceful oasis surrounded by nature and a place to completely switch off from the world, this is it. Marta and her father Daniel were the perfect hosts - responsive, helpful and kind. Our 1-year-old son had the time of his life riding Daniel's tractor, meeting the chickens, and picking fresh fruit and vegetables from the garden. The pool is shared with the other house but there is plenty of space for everyone and we had very nice neighbours during our stay. There are lots of places to sit and relax or read in the garden - day beds, swings, benches, or the veranda with a beautiful view of the surrounding fields. The garden is also full of herbs and lemon trees. The house inside is very well equipped, and the bed linen and towels are immaculate. We had a fantastic time and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this little piece of countryside heaven. Thank you Marta and Daniel!
