Vacation rentals with a fireplace in Midlothian

David's and Melanie's place was really good. We stayed there for 2 night and we really enjoyed it. The place is 25 mins away from Edinburgh and Edinburgh Airport too. I'd definitely recommend staying here on your trip to Edinburgh.

The East Wing of Islay House was very spacious and comfy. It was clean and tidy and did not lack any amenities. Sandra provided firewood for the fireplace and plenty of local information. The village of Pencaitland is quiet an peaceful with a shop/petrol station within walking distance and lots of short walks. There were lots of longer walks within 12-30 mins, including those in Edinburgh. Even better if: queen or king bed instead of double bed, description and external photos more accurately reflect that the accommodation is part of a larger house, and it is made clear whether or not both sets of gates can be shut to provide a full secured outside space for dogs. Overall we were very happy with our stay and would recommend :).

Good location in suburb of Edinburgh. Easy walk to bus into Edinburgh and small park with play equipment, football field, and short walking trail. Bus also stops near many stores. Nice neighborhood feel. House was clean, comfortable.

Outstanding property. Well appointed, comfortable and high quality. Great responsiveness and communication from Heather who was a lovely host. Excellent vistas and views. Enjoyed several beautiful sunsets from the outdoor area of the property. Peaceful and quiet but great location to travel to the Borders or into Edinburgh. Superb property - highly recommended. Absolutely stunning! We spent 4 nights at Jacqui’s and had the most amazing stay, the cottage was beautifully presented and so spacious and the outlook was breathtaking! Close to Edinburgh but out of the city enough to be so peaceful, we would stay there again in a heartbeat. Thank you so much Jacqui for the great stay, if we are ever back in Scotland we will definitely book again. 😊

Great location and place to stay. We very much enjoyed the hot tub and visited Edinburgh on the park and ride at Newcraigshall. Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone visiting Edinburgh as a family.

Amazing porters lodge, beautiful attention to detail, very comfortable. Hot tub was an absolute treat. All the facilities to cook during your stay. Perfect place to escape for a relaxing weekend with some lovely walks on the doorstep. Will absolutely be back one day!

Lorna's house was extremely welcoming and chock full of everything you could possibly want in the kitchen. Beds were very comfortable so slept well. A small point, but the lighting was not conducive for reading when the weather was dark or late evening - this would be the only slight criticism we would make. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone.

It was a really cozy place, enjoyed my stay a lot. There’s a bus stop right outside the bnb so it’s easy to get to the city centre and back. Ted was an amazing host and very responsive, helping me settle in really quick. 10/10 would stay here again.

What a wonderful find! Our stay couldn’t have been more straightforward and comfortable and being on the estate was idyllic. Do explore the grounds or you’ll miss out - I think our young girls discovered their enchanted woods! Thank you, Gwen.

A great place with lots of character! Property was a little cold but the heaters helped to warm the rooms. Huge well equipped kitchen Plenty of hot water The area was lovely and peaceful and not to far from Edinburgh town

Great stay. The wood burning fire place was a great touch, made keeping the place cozy warm easy. Comfy beds, soft linens.. nice bathroom.

Valerie was a great host! She was friendly and always answered quickly when we had a question. The space was lovely and close to the city centre, my friend and I had a great time!

My experience with David was a positive one right from booking. I needed to change one of the dates and he helped me swiftly and graciously. He was very welcoming and made my daughter and I feel at home. He had croissants and juice waiting for us in the kitchen which was a kind and hospitable touch. David was helpful by providing us the numbers of the buses we could get on to go back and forth into the city. The apartment was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay with David very much! We’d highly recommend this apartment to anyone staying in Edinburgh.

We liked everything, the price is good

we have just left Howford house after a lovely 3 night weekend stay to celebrate my husbands 40th. we were a family of 14 adults, 2 children and a newborn baby and we had the most peaceful comfortable stay. the house is fantastic, it has everything you need and the location although super private and peaceful, it was near restaurants, the coop supermarket, Traquair House and land which we got discounted because we were house guests, and lots of walks and hikes. the surrounding acres were stunning with the frost and autumn leaves. we all loved our stay, the kids (and the adults) didn't want to leave. special thanks to Elaine the housekeeper who was brilliant with her communication and help. we will recommend and be back in the future.

Stayed here for 2 nights with 5 other adults - one of the best decisions! As a start, check-in was smooth. Everyone has their bed, towels which is great. Had to figure out the heater (our country is Summer all year) and Lukas was very responsive. This location is almost a straight drive to the city centre. With free parking at the location, it gave us great relief to know we won’t get penalised. Love this place! I would recommend this to others.

Entering this well appointed, beautiful home, there is a feeling of warmth and relaxation. The skylights bring in the natural light to the bathrooms. The Kitchen is modern and sleek, with everything you need to make a first class meal. The visually stunning, spacious backyard has a wonderful garden. There is a park just behind the house. My daily jog would lead me down to the beach. Here i would do a quick cold plunge- rejuvenating my body. The area is surrounded by a world renowned collection of golf clubs. The Longniddry golf club is a short walk and is a fun track. Thank you for being great hosts.
