Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Lake Hāwea

What a wonderful place to stay! We especially enjoyed the breathtaking views, the window seat, and nice tea selections and French press coffee. It was nice of Kath to offer early check in and to meet us when we arrived to share some instructions.

Sally's place was perfect for us.. The home was comfortable, clean and warm.. Kitchen was good to have with all the amenities.... The hot tub was Gold.. Beautiful views of the surrounding mountains from the home and lots of forest walking/ mtn biking trails close by.. Lake Hawea close by was really nice too.. Sally was helpful with any questions we had including recomending the best route for us to drive up there from Queenstown which was an unreal scenic easy drive to get to the home.. We'd definatley go back and would highly recommend to anyone else considering a stay here...

Four of us (couples in 70s & 30s) have just enjoyed a lovely 3 nights in Tarras..facilities exactly as set out, any questions/issues promptly resolved by friendly and welcoming host..the cottage particularly warm..other highlights looking up at the night sky and the wine tasting (and buying)..yes, an unsealed road on approach but no issues if driving appropriately..

We had a fantastic stay! The cottage is incredibly well-equipped, and we especially loved the fireplace, which made the evenings warm and cozy. The view is absolutely stunning, probably one of the best lakefront locations on Lake Hawea. The hosts were also very responsive and friendly, always quick to help with any questions. We would love to come back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for comfort and amazing scenery!

A lovely house to base yourself in Central Otago. Spotless and spacious and very toasty warm in the colder weather. Keiran was easy to communicate with and helpful operating instructions for the appliances were on hand. Plenty of room and although not required by us was good to see a cot and highchair for those with small families.

Julianne’s home was perfect for our stay. Situated in a superb location to enjoy all that is special about Wanaka. Fabulous views over Lake Wanaka and the mountains. Magical sunsets. Beautiful surrounds all walkable. Peaceful neighbourhood. A very spacious and comfortable home with everything we needed and more. Thank you Julianne for being a superhost. Very easy to communicate with and clear instructions before arrival much appreciated.

The house is in a great location—spacious, clean, and we especially love the large balcony in the room. Highly recommended!

This is the most striking house in the most beautiful location I have stayed in New Zealand. If you have a big group and are looking for something posh, this is a terrific place. We felt right at home.

Had such a lovely stay! The place was perfect - super clean and tidy and very comfortable and cosy. Location was close to the lake and only a short drive to town. Hosts were so lovely and left great instructions and local recommendations which was much appreciated 😊

We really enjoyed staying in this charming little house. The position to town is very handy and the property sits in beautiful gardens with a babbling brook running through the garden - just charming. Hosts were very friendly and helpful and advised us that we were able to check in early and leave later as they had no direct bookings after us. Highly recommend staying here.

Daisy was great! the place was VERY spacious and she gave me some great advice about some local hikes. I was actually bummed I didn't book another day while in Wanaka! When I mentioned that to Daisy, she even offered me another day but I had to run to another destination. the place itself was great and in a chill neighbourhood. loved it!

Thanks for hosting us. Definitely felt homely, cosy & warm. Had everything that we needed and the beds were extremely comfy! Definitely loved how close we were to the patisserie and to the lake! Thanks again. Will definitely stay here again.

Robyn is a sweet and thoughtful host and it reflects in her home as well. She turned on the heater before we arrived so we were welcomed into a warm and toasty home. Beds were comfortable, bathroom and kitchen were spotless. She lives next door and our kids enjoyed playing with her friendly dog Molly.

Great home base, perfect location! Spacious and well appointed - relaxed feeling. Highlight - try the baking and Sangra pies from the outside cafe literally around the corner!

I found Uli’s place to be clean and peaceful during my stay. It has everything you need and is quiet, making it suitable for anyone who enjoys spending time alone. It’s a small town, and I took my time walking around. However, it takes about 30 to 40 minutes to walk to the lake. Be aware that there was some road construction ongoing, which made for a lot of uneven surfaces. Despite these, the property was great, and I would definitely book it again for my next trip.

We could not have loved Wanaka and this condo more! Everything was so clean, located close to the town area, and Alex & Jesper were wonderful hosts! It was 3 days of bliss for us. We would go back in a heartbeat.

Excellent room! Very clean and cozy. It was great having a tea kettle in the room and tea offered by the host! Great place to stay for the night!

This was a very comfortable, well equipped condo. Our rental car was too big to fit in the garage but parking was easy and convenient outside in the designated spaces. Short drive to city center and there is a sidewalk that would allow you to walk if you wanted. We could see the mountains from the patio! Great for our family.

We had a wonderfull time with Crawford and Janet. A lovely couple. The house is very big with a great garden, great view, great bed and shower. Wanaka is also a very nice town with lots of nice places. We highly recommend this place to stay!

Excellent stay with Kate. Her place is thoughtfully decorated with expansive mountain views and felt like home in Wanaka immediately. Great outdoor balcony overlooking the ranges which a BBQ to enjoy some food and drinks. Kate was an incredible host proactively offering baby essential items for our little one, answering questions we had within minutes, checking in to see how I stay was. The property was kept in immaculate condition, place felt brand new with modern amenities like aircon, heating in all rooms and exceptionally clean which was really important for us travelling with a baby and the wider complex had excellent amenities like tennis courts, spa and gym which was an added bonus for an Airbnb. Highly recommend and great place for a family or anyone to come back home after a day venturing in and around Wanaka

Our stay at Carmen’s was one of the best stays we had during our time in New Zealand. The apartment had everything you could want, including a nice box of chocolates on arrival! It was a walkable distance into the restaurants/bars in Wanaka, while also being private and peaceful. The apartment was spotlessly clean, and very comfortable, perfect for our stay in Wanaka. Finally Carmen was a pleasure to deal with and I would highly recommend staying here!

Location is great with private parking so you don’t have to worry about finding one far away and shifting luggages. The place I clean and near most of the needed amenities, beautiful surrounding and walking distance to the lake. Full function kitchen with no restriction of what are allowed to be cooked. Jane is a wonderful host ensuring our safe arrival and proactively helped us check on the status of the road closure, ensuring our safe arrival. We were greeted with a warm welcome, chocolate and a pre warmed house. :)

Ideal place for walking into Arrowtown, where restaurants and walking tracks only 20 mins walk. Beds were very comfortable and warm. Heat pump was always a winner on those cold mornings . So quiet, I didn’t know Laura was next door with her lovely family. Washer/dryer worked well. No one likes to wash coming home after holidays. Thx again Laura, I will be back next year! Heather
