The restoration was particularly difficult due to the state it was in but our craftsman’s determination to bring this Machiya back to its formal glory paid off for Reikaku Yasaka. This was great for our family of 4 trip (with two kids ages 8 and 11). The location can’t be beat, the Yasaka shrine is right around the corner and tons of amazing restaurants in walking distance. There is a grocery store just a couple of blocks away, so we got some breakfast food, snacks and drinks there. The rooms are very quiet and beds are very comfortable (heated floors were an extra bonus). The bathrooms are very nice as well. This was a very zen place with a traditional feel and modern amenities. Great find!

We had a wonderful stay at this spacious house, perfect for our group of 5 adults and 1 baby. My husband and I chose the tatami-style room to sleep with our baby, and it was a cozy and special experience. The house is located near the lakeside and close to the train tracks, a bit of a distance from town, but that wasn’t an issue for us as we had rented a car. We also made good use of the kitchen and even enjoyed a late-night supper together. Everything was clean, well-equipped, and comfortable. Overall, it was a great experience, and we truly enjoyed our stay here!
