Swift Cottage, Auldgirth - a haven of tranquility

Swift Cottage was lovingly converted in 2014 from McMurdoston's old granary. It's a perfect base from which to explore the hidden gem of Dumfries and Galloway - an area packed with history, wildlife, unspoilt beaches, stunning views and acres of wilderness. We're a 15 minute drive from Dumfries (you'll find eateries, supermarkets, independent shops, an ice bowl, cinema and leisure centre) but Swift Cottage feels as though it's in the middle of nowhere - with dark skies and genuine peace.

Woodend is a beautiful cottage set in a semi rural setting, with stunning aspects from all bedrooms and sitting room. Quiet and tranquil garden and patio area, perfect for enjoying a glass of bubbly and taking in the wonderful views and relaxing. The semi detached cottage is stylish and tastefully decorated. Part of the beauty of Woodend is even though you are surrounded by fields, it’s only a stroll into Dumfries town centre (20 mins) where you will find pubs, restaurants and shopping.

Although only two miles from Dumfries Town Centre it is in a quiet, rural location. There is ample parking beside the cottage and a lockable room for storage of bicycles and other leisure equipment. Our chalet is in our large, well managed garden. While it is near our house and we are happy to chat, we always respect peoples privacy. This is a very peaceful place where you can sit outside and watch the flames of the fire pit at night or stay in and have a cosy evening. Our neighbours are all of the four legged variety so some countryside noises are to be expected but the cows love to come and greet you at the wall. Parking space in garden

Welcome to our idyllic riverside cottage. Nestled in the picturesque Dumfries & Galloway countryside and set on the banks of Cairn Water. The area is rich with wildlife. Red squirrel, deer, kingfisher, woodpecker, red kite, buzzard and otter are just a few of the local visitors spotted from our garden.
