Home in Golden Point

Step back in time to a hilltop house with views across the city through picture windows. Exposed brick and the extensive use of natural wood maintain a mid-century atmosphere, enhanced by period furnishings and gleaming softwood floors throughout. The House Manual provides information about Jack's, as we call our house. We do not host guests with accompanying pets and smoking on any part of the house and property is not acceptable. If these rules are not to your liking then please do not book. Jack's Place is an original 1960's architect designed house. A master bedroom with direct access to the bathroom (en-suite except it is the only one!). The second bedroom features jarrah flooring and exposed brick wall. The living area features a unique view across the City especially at night. Functional kitchen and laundry, air conditioning and heating. The rental terms are for the whole house but if a couple book then it is expected only one bedroom is used. On booking it is best to clarify if both bedrooms are required. If not we do not make up the second bed. Jack's Place is a free standing brick residence with its own car space. There is a walled courtyard and front lawn area/garden (yet to be fully developed ). Cate and I live behind Jack's Place and both properties share a driveway. Naturally the drive must be kept clear at all time. More than happy to be contacted with any questions relating to Ballarat in general, food, wine and things to do. This 1962 house is in Golden Point, an old area in the City of Ballarat, about 125 kilometers west of Melbourne. These days the architecture of the area varies from 1860s dwellings, California bungalows, and modern high-density residences. Ballarat's main street is Sturt St. It is about a ten minute walk to the town centre and less to major supermarkets. Parking in town is charged via meter all week. On the edge of the central business district parking is free. Parking around the restaurant area of Armstrong St is difficult. My advice is to walk to dinner and Uber home. Local buses are confusing. Only a few minutes away is The Grapes Hotel, friendly and reliable. Ballarat weather can be variable. I have no control over the weather! We are perched about 375 metres above sea level, cold in Winter and hot in Summer. Summer nights tend to cool down. To keep the house warm and you comfortable, draw the blinds and turn on the heating. There are electric panel heater available in the house. Be very aware that they are not suitable for use when young children are part of the guest party. To cool the house, draw the blinds, close all windows and unnecessary doors and set the cooling for 10C below the outside temperature.

Immaculate clean and well kept place. Our family of four loved it! Kids were happy and enjoyed the space and said the bed was "so comfortable!" Everything we needed for a weekend stay! Within 4-10 minutes to everything we needed. Being a winter stay - was nice, warm and cozy - perfect for our family. Adrian was a great host, responsive and proactive with check in, etc also provided complimentary extras in kitchen above and beyond a lot of the other airbnb's we have stayed in. Highly Recommend!

Great little apartment for my short 2 night stay in Ballarat. Very clean and modern and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. Great central location in Ballarat in a nice quiet block of units, did not hear any noise at all. Very comfortable bed, lovely big shower and great open plan kitchen/living area. Only had a couple of very minor issues (couldn’t work out the TV and no hairdryer in the ensuite) which Courtney addressed immediately which was greatly appreciated. Would definitely stay again.

This is our second time staying at Karen and Trevor's house over the long weekend and honestly we wouldn't stay anywhere else. Its a short drive to the shops, quiet street and the house has everything you need, for adults and children alike. We would absolutely recommend anyone to stay here and the fresh chicken eggs morning is the icing on the cake!
