“We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at struan lea byre. The location is excellent for plockton up the road and a little further onto Skye. The house has been very well designed with some really nice touches and thanks to David and Sarah for the shortbread and tablet. We would recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area , it's outstanding value for money with lots to see and do nearby. We had a very smooth check in and David and Sarah had lots of tips for walks, restaurants etc etc. We look forward to coming back, perhaps when the weather is a bit better!”
Welcome to Otter Bay, a newly built larch-clad house which we designed and commissioned. The location, beside a tidal loch in the mountains of Kintail is stunning and peaceful. It is set back on a peninsular where some days the only sounds are of wading birds. Guests like to visit Skye from here, but many are amazed at the beauty locally in Lochalsh. Our position is ideal for hiking, mountain walking, cycling and kayaking.
“It was absolutely wonderful this welcome, very warm, full of exchanges, Keith and Beverly are genuinely benevolent towards their guests, of an availability never met before ... proof also of a sincere intention to receive, the lunch which is sensational , there are all the ingredients of the English breakfast, never seen such preparation full of attentions ... You leave them therefore having the impression of having lived a hell of a good time full of humanity .... and the setting is quite simply fantastic .... at the foot of a lake, with a magnificent view of the mountains that border it .... what a chance again tell me I have fallen on them ... so I highly recommend this accommodation ..”
A spacious cabin which is within walking distance to all local amenities (swimming pool, shops, restaurants & bars). It is approximately 10 mins walk to the nearest bus depot & local train station. Ideally situated for exploring the hills and mountains round about. The bridge to the Isle of Skye is only 1 mile away and the hills of Kintail are within easy reach at about 15 miles. The quaint, picturesque village of Plockton is close by and the historic Eilean Donan Castle 8 miles away.
“A wooden cabin built next to the main house with unrestricted views across the sea. The cabin itself is a great size for two with a spacious lounge and kitchen equipped with everything you might need. The bedroom is warm and has plenty of storage with a standing wardrobe as well as a tower of drawers. The en suite has a hot shower and towel rail for an extra cosy factor. The decor is distinctly Scottish and well appointed. The cabin is perfectly located for exploring Skye and the surrounding area and each morning you look out over the water it will look a little different. We did a lot of road tripping from our base. The scenery is simply outstanding. There is no shortage of things to do and see. One of our favourites was canyoning, gorge walking, abseiling, and waterfall jumping with Skye Highland Adventures - absolutely recommend for adventure seekers! Overall and excellent holiday made perfect by the ideal base cabin. We will be returning!”
