Blue Basecamp - Adventure Starts HERE!

Vanessa BlaiseRating, 5 stars5 days ago
We had a wonderful time in the cabin. Great location from restaurants in town, totally walkable and very close to town. Spent our days paddle boarding Shaver Lake and evenings were peaceful and quiet. Cabin is located in cute neighborhood, lots of trees and birds to listen to. The place was very clean and plenty of room in bathrooms plus a nice front deck for star gazing ! We will be back!

Ridgeview Retreat - AC + Location!

EdithRating, 5 stars3 months ago
Jamie’s place was great! Walkable to the nearby restaurants and shops. Highly recommend the Hungry Hut for their burgers and milkshakes! Jamie’s place fit 12 of us comfortably. Kitchen was filled with everything needed to cook all weekend long. We took the kids mainly for snow fun. There were two Sno-Parks about 20mins away, but the scenery is so beautiful that trip feels shorter! We brought our own sleds for the kids, also highly recommend. There is also China Peak about 30mins away where kids were able to take snowboarding lessons.

Knotty Pine Cabins - The Pinecone Cottage #2

JacobRating, 5 stars1 month ago
This was our first time ever booking through Airbnb as I had heard crazy stories before that always deterred me from actually booking. However, we decided to compare the costs of Airbnb and other sites and this was by far the best deals with the amenities we wanted. We got exactly what we paid for and the app was easy to use. This rental was everything and more as we didn’t expect anything more than salt and pepper but got a decent little spice cabinet, lighter fluid for the grill, (although we didn’t have time to use it), and was within walking distance to all of the restaurants, markets, and pubs in the area. Less than a five minute drive to Shaver Lake and about 30 minutes to Lakeshore. We had a great time and will definitely be booking again when we visit Shaver in the future.

Fir Cabin at Camp Sierra, near Shaver Lake

JulianneRating, 5 stars9 months ago
We had an amazing time! Rae, Beth and everyone was so accommodating and friendly. Cabin was cozy and clean, camp sierra was a nice place to be during our down time visiting Huntington lake. There’s a waterfall and a waterhole walking distance from the cabins and a fun playground area in the middle of the camp. The small general store had ice cream, knick knacks and games and puzzles you can borrow. It was beautiful and peaceful and was fun visiting with other families staying in the camp. Thank you camp sierra, we will definitely be back again.

Your guide to Dinkey Creek

All About Dinkey Creek

Ninety minutes northeast of Fresno, in California’s southern Sierra Nevada range, Dinkey Creek is an unincorporated community located on a stream with the same name. The creek flows for nearly 30 miles through the Sierra National Forest and is said to have gotten its name from a dog who once fatally battled a grizzly bear. It goes without saying that nature looms large in this neck of the woods. Soaring sequoias, cascading waterfalls, lush Ponderosa pine, cedar forests, and scenic hiking trails are all on the menu here. Anglers have a field day fishing the creek’s rainbow-trout-filled waters.

The Dinkey Creek Recreation Area, which runs along Dinkey Creek, features the Dinkey Historical Bridge. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it was one of the first wooden bridges in the country to use steel to give it the strength needed to handle heavy loads. Sprinkled throughout the dense forest landscape are plenty of scenic picnic areas for a bite break. Dinkey Creek is also blessed by its proximity to some of California’s biggest and best national parks, including Yosemite National Park and Kings Canyon National Park, both roughly two hours away in opposite directions.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Dinkey Creek

The warm spring and summer months provide pleasant weather for enjoying outdoor recreation in Dinkey Creek. The fishing season spans the end of April through mid-November, and you’ll need to possess a valid California state fishing license if you plan on catching some freshwater game. Many of the community’s hiking trails pass by waterfalls, which are best seen in the spring and summer after the winter snow melts. In the fall, Dinkey Creek’s lush flora and the Sierra National Forest are dazzling in vibrant reds, yellows, and oranges.

Top things to do in Dinkey Creek

McKinley Grove

McKinley Grove, near Shaver Lake, is a natural gem featuring a short loop trail that leads to an isolated patch of around 20 centuries-old soaring Sequoias. Nearby, you’ll find a picnic area where you can enjoy lunch or a snack near the magnificent grove of trees. You may even spot the deer, chipmunks, and squirrels that roam through the area.

Rancheria Falls Trail

Rancheria Falls Trail is a four-mile round-trip hike 20 miles past Shaver Lake. The trail leads to Rancheria Falls — a 150-foot waterfall gushing over granite cliffs. The falls are an especially spectacular sight in the spring and summer months after melted winter snow feeds the waters. Much of the well-maintained trail is lined by towering red and white fir trees. And at certain points, the serene waters of Lake Vernon are visible through the thickets.

Dinkey Creek Bridge

The historic 1936 Dinkey Creek Bridge stretches above its namesake creek. Its whimsical design, which features a bowstring arch made of redwood, complements the surrounding natural landscape, especially the towering pine trees in the background.
