Vacation rentals with a fireplace in Cumberland

Our son, his girlfriend, my husband and I enjoyed staying at the cottage in late October 2024. The location was quite scenic as it overlooked Casco Bay, near Portland, ME. The host made suggestions that we followed (bringing firewood & blankets). The kitchen was equipped with utensils & coffeemakers. The neighborhood was quiet. We enjoyed walking in the local preserve along the water and took advantage of visiting the Portland Museum of Art and eating at The Honey Paw, an Asian fusion restaurant.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful beachfront home with our extended family, including a total of 6 adults and 5 kids. We had two additional adults spend one night, there was plenty of room for everyone. The house was spacious, comfortable, and perfectly suited for a group of our size. The location is unbeatable, right on Drakes Island Beach, with incredible views and direct access to the sand. While we didn’t go in the water, we spent plenty of time relaxing on the beach, walking along the shore, and enjoying the peaceful setting. The home was clean, well-maintained, and stocked with everything we needed. The large deck and open living spaces gave us plenty of room to spend time together and unwind. This was a perfect spot for a relaxing family getaway, and we’d absolutely return again. Highly recommended!

Amazing place, host was super kind and accommodated my family’s last minute booking since we were cancelled on twice that week! We are super happy we found this adorable beautiful place that ended up being better than the other places would have been anyway!

By far one of the best Airbnb’s we’ve ever stayed at. Superb location, beautiful river view in front and forest view (with trails) in back. Plenty of garden space to run around in with the kid(s). And only a 5-minute drive into quaint and charming Bath. The place itself was beautifully laid out, with so much space and comfort. Pip was always available, efficient and kind and to communicate with. Cannot recommend this place enough if you’re looking respite in nature, comfort in home, and proximity to town.

Beautiful, well-appointed home. All the little things add up to a stress-free experience. Fully stocked with towels, cooking supplies, even q-tips if you forget your own! By far the cleanest, most comfortable AirBNB I've stayed in. Photos don't do justice to the view from inside and from the patio. Incredibly quiet at night and the feeling of seclusion helped recharge my batteries. Super clear directions and entry instructions. Nothing beats dinner or wine by the firepit overlooking the bay except for the sunrise over the water. Would 100% stay again.

Steven was quick to respond, the Saco river farm house was very cozy, clean well furnished with little amenities like phone chargers, coffee, fire pit, and even a mosquito zapper! it’s the little things for me! The house is well maintained inside and out, everything worked great from stove to dishwasher, wall outlets and plumbing was smooth, great atmosphere inside and out, beautiful decor super comfortable beds, i highly recommend this house to all who are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle for a weekend, great location plenty to do in the surrounding areas!

Excellent spot for a bigger group to go. The whole house is very nice. The screened in porch was our favorite part of the house. If my group decides to go back up to the area we would love to stay here again.

This is a great spot to stay while in Damariscotta - cute, peaceful and comfy, looks just like the photos. It's in a great location, right in town, and near multiple sights and activities, including 4 lighthouses in the mid-coast area - Pemaquid, Marshall Point, Owls Head, and Rockland Breakwater. You can grab the boat to Monhegan in Port Clyde or head up to the Farnsworth in Rockland and tons of other things - it's a fun area and this is a spot that can work nicely as a home base. I didn't see Valerie, but all of our interactions were very pleasant and she's very responsive.

Who knew that inside an assuming building is a massive, quirky and cute space? It’s also in the perfect location close to restaurants. The apartment has everything you need and the space to host friends or family. The host was responsive. As someone who has lived in Portland and in many historic homes, it’s very normal for even the best renovated places to have a couple of more rustic details (wear & tear). The previous review disgracing this place is by someone who clearly this was not a match (they should have stayed in a modern hotel). It’s obvious that the host has been incrementally restoring this place and putting their own sweat in to make it a great airbnb. I would definitely stay here again. No question.

David and Valle’s house is welcoming, and it was just right for our family get-together. The kitchen is very well set up for cooking, and the counter is both beautiful and a great place for gathering and conversation. There are many lovely touches in the house. We appreciated the yard and gardens, and our dog loved the walking trail. The location is peaceful but just a few minutes from Portland. David communicated well and offered helpful ideas for our visit.

This place was comfortable, well-provisioned, and very well located. Pam was very responsive as well. Good stay!

Wendy’s place was really nice and the hot tub is very private.. we definitely got our usage out of it… Wendy herself was extremely kind and open minded. She didn’t rush us out come check out, instead, she encouraged us to stay a little longer and enjoy the hot tub before our long journey back home.. she gave us good tips about golden gems only locals know about 🥰 She did have a cool book to share reviews but I didn’t have a pen.. also we left grape soda in the fridge from Canada for the next person to try!! My dog and I had a great time here and would recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area. We found lots of dog-friendly hikes and nature reserves nearby within 15-30 minutes . Otherwise we enjoyed the peaceful yard and small brook on the property. Beautiful and thoughtful rental, with very friendly hosts.

The 1 bedroom was exactly as described and pictured. A fun, small, well appointed roost above bustling Congress St. Check in/out was seamless and we had no difficulties connecting with Michelle. In addition to staying in a centrally-located pad, Michelle provided us with a wonderfully detailed list of restaurant recommendations and local trip destinations. We found ourselves referring to it frequently and it led us to some super meals and a fun bike ride around Peaks Island. Her parking guidance was also helpful - we ended up parking on the street without incident or ticket. While not a particular challenge for us, it's useful to know that it's quite a hike up the three floors of stairs to get to the apartment. In all, glad to have stayed there and a great spot from which to explore all that Portland has to offer.

This was a great, comfortable space and convenient to everywhere we wanted to drive in Portland! Barry’s instructions were clear and easy to understand, which made finding the house and getting in easy. There were also little details that we valued, like leaving out bowls for our pup travel companion :)

My husband and I stayed here for our baby moon and it was perfect! The location couldn’t have been better and the airbnb was stocked with everything we needed. Nick was super responsive and made sure our stay was wonderful. We will absolutely be back!!!

This was the perfect house for a girls trip! It was a quick drive to shops and restaurants and a short walk to the Echo Lake trails. The house was beautiful and exactly as described/pictured. Amalie was super responsive to questions and I would absolutely stay here again!

Matt’s place was welcoming comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen. Matt was always responsive within a few minutes. Matt’s place was conveniently located to Portland with restaurants and shops. Spent A day at Cape Elizabeth, Peaks island and dinner in Naple….. previous visit was to Boothbay Botanical garden Really a great state to visit!!!
