I want to call this a lakehouse. They do refer to it as a cottage, but the wood gives it cabin vibes as well. However, the modernity, from the light fixtures to the stainless steel dishwasher affords this place a hybrid label, unlike any other. This is no tiny house. Do you like the word 'sprawling'? Well, walk through entrance way/foyer, the open kitchen to living room to octagonal sloping ceiling above the fireplace area to dining room area... swing your arms around like Molly Shannon on Seinfeld! Windows upon windows with bench seating sills (what do you call those? quaint! charming!) Gaze at the private dock on the lake, from the kitchen sink window! It is just past the patio sporting the bbq grill and patio furniture. Or look over here at the chickens with fresh eggs you're allowed to collect and eat! At every turn, a gazebo or stonework to enjoy. I want to call this a lakehouse, but I'll be more honest and call it a dream.

Karen’s place was peaceful, comfortable, and had everything I needed. It’s just a short 9-minute walk to the local pub for dinner, and the backyard was full of birdsong—so relaxing. As an avid hiker, I appreciated that Karen recommended a nearby trail, and I was also able to find a few others in the area. During my stay, I did a beautiful hike and even went on a unique goat hiking excursion about an hour away. Karen’s hospitality was gracious and kind—she was even up early to see me off before checkout, which meant a lot. I truly appreciated the quiet, the care she puts into hosting, and the overall peaceful atmosphere. I will definitely come back again!

I was here for a month in the Spring. 110% would recommend. A beautiful, unique stay in a beautiful, unique location. Wifi is great and stable - place is well-suited to remote working. Everyone on this island is an absolute gem, including Allen and Pat. I splayed my ankle. Allen has been incredibly helpful, and has been the very definition of hospitality, ensurinf my incident didn't spoil my stay. Photograhers could absolutely be added to the example list of creatives who might be interested in this place. If you'd like to buy fresh, curbside homemade jam and eggs - bring some cash :)
