Kendal Cottage with Fireplace - Couples' Retreat

AlanaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We had a great few days at the cottage with our dog. Everything you need is within the house and you're a quick walk into the town. We either had takeaways or ate out but everything you'd need to cook is there. The cottage is lovely and clean and comfortable which was good as one of the nights we relaxed in the house due to bad weather. Communication was great from the hosts too. We'd stay again 😊

Nic’s place provided the perfect base for exploring the Lake District without a car. It’s a 2 minute walk from a bus stop where you can catch the local bus to the Kendal bus station, where the bus to Lake District destinations departs from. I’ve never been so well-received by an AirBnB host as I was by Nic’s parents, and their care and attentiveness was a welcome contrast to the increasingly impersonal nature of AirBnB stays. From offering me rides to and from the train station, to providing trail recommendations, to leaving fresh strawberries from the garden at the doorstep, they went above and beyond as hosts. I felt that they genuinely love the region and that they want their guests to have the best possible time there. If I ever go back, I hope to stay with them again!
A rustic wooden table is set outdoors, featuring a white teapot and two cups. Two plates display pastries topped with jam, accompanied by a small patterned bowl. Lush greenery and colorful flowers form a serene background.

Guest Favourite Light, modern 1 bed apartment

Kirstys communication/instructions to find and access the property were easy to follow and very helpful as it was dark when we arrived. On arrival the property was very clean, modern and cosy. We felt at home right away. There are a number of books/brochures about the lake district, local walks and tourist destinations we found helpful. 'Outdoor advertures with children - Lake district', was particularly helpful when trying to work out how to keep our one year old entertained. To top it all off, my italian wife found a huge moka in the kitchen for her morning coffee and this made our short stay even more perfect!

I had the privilege of staying at Mel's amazing place in Swindale. The location is gorgeous and very peaceful. I spent three nights here and I felt completely recharged upon my return home. The walks through the valley are stunning with beautiful waterfalls and breath-taking scenery. If you are looking for a peaceful break in a truly stunning location then I highly recommend. Mel was really helpful and provided everything I needed. Overall, an amazing experience, thanks Mel.
