Family-friendly vacation rentals in Black Lake

A beautiful place to stay. Very quiet, yet close to Potsdam. Beth was wonderful in communicating with us, and her home is cozy & lovely.

We had a great family week away at David’s place and as a host he was super helpful. The view from the window/hot-tub/deck was fantastic, shame we could not bring it home with us! The weather was not great for the week, meaning limited time on the lake. We did manage a day on a hired boat, the other days we went on day trips to local towns and Ottawa by train from Brockville. We also did a city cruise of 1000 islands and attended the annual 1000 islands rib fest. The house was well equipped with all we needed for a great family stay and a relaxing week. For a BBQ recommend a trip to “The Butcher Shop”.

We stayed at Robin’s place for a weekend with 3 other families. Had a wonderful time and made full use of the great facilities. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely time staying here over the August long weekend. Very short drive into Gananoque, everything was as advertised, everything was very clean, instructions were clear. The host was very responsive to any questions or concerns (we had a power outage for a few hours during a storm). We did a bit of canoeing, however it should be said that once you get out onto the St. Lawrence the current is quick so be prepared to row! Happy the place was pet friendly as our small dog had a great time. There were three air conditioning units (1 in each bedroom and 1 in main area) and, while we were grateful for the relief on hot days, they were a little bit on the noisy side while watching TV or winding down to sleep. The only thing we would have wanted was access to the washer/dryer, but as it's stipulated they're only available for longer stays we were fine to respect our host's rules. Overall very happy with our stay and would absolutely consider staying again in the future.

Great Lake front cabin with lots of amenities. Boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, hot tub- kept our family of five, including 3 teenagers occupied for days. Love the addition of the gas fire pit on the porch off the living room- started and ended every day out there, watching and listening to all the lake has to offer. Great trail running right from east shore drive. We loved it! We will be back!

We had a great stay. Loved the charm of the old home, very well appointed with everything we needed. Great kitchen / dining and outside space for gathering. The host went above and beyond to get us a rental hot tub since the other one needed repair and could not be fixed in time for our stay.

Erin's place was wonderful for our family of 12! We agree with the other reviews - the photos don't do it justice. It was clean and well-equipped. The only negative was that we arrived on a very hot and humid day, so we definitely very hot, with no AC. We brought some fans and did purchase some larger fans. The kitchen was perfect - we made most of our meals. We did go out one night and the Gran View and really like that suggestion. The paddle boards/kayaks and floats were so nice to not have to rent. The river is super calm before and after storms or in the mornings. We rented a pontoon boat from Wellsey Island, and it was dropped off at a nearby marina. We docked the boat on one side or the other of the dock, depending on the current or rough waters. We loved the quiet road for walks, and only a 25 minute drive to A-bay. The grill worked well. All in all, it was a great place!

Laurel was an amazing host! The place was spotless, cozy, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. She was incredibly responsive throughout our stay and made sure we had everything we needed. Her thoughtfulness really stood out—she even offered us a late checkout, which we truly appreciated. The peaceful surroundings and little touches made it feel like a home away from home. Highly recommend staying here—we’d definitely love to come back!

We love this cottage! We rent a cottage near Westport every summer, and this one was for sure one we’d come back to. It’s only 2 minutes down a gravel road (incredibly short) and a 9 minutes down drive to the grocery store, while still being beautifully quiet on the lake. We saw tons of deer and did lots of swimming. Highly recommend. Also highly recommend the driving range just down the road! We “worked from home” for the week, and the wifi was more than capable of supporting that (not necessarily city speeds, but for video on meetings and Netflix it was perfectly fine!)

We had a great stay over Memorial Day weekend and it was just what we needed for our five kids and dog! Plenty of room, huge kitchen and outdoor grill area, cozy living room. The kids enjoyed going out on the pond/lake in the rowboat and strolling through the woods. We planned to have a fire and Dave even brought us some dry firewood. There was absolutely no cell reception, which was kind of nice, honestly. The WiFi was more than sufficient for entertainment and any connection that we needed. Linens WERE provided, contrary to the posted house rules, which saved me a lot of stress. We would definitely stay here again.

Anita's cottage made us feel comfortable and relaxed. It had a great beach vibe look to it with all her personal touches in the decor and design of the cottage. The cottage is very sizable and to have the extra bathroom in the nearby shed was truly a luxury. The cottage is well situated right on the water with only steps on the large multi level deck giving access to the St. Lawrence River. Swimming was great for our family and dog as the access to the river was shallow and gradual to the lake. Both of the full days we had at the cottage was sunny and clear and we were able to take advantage of the stunning sunset that landed directly on the deck of the cottage. The kitchen was well stocked with the necessary spices and utensils necessary to cook inside or on the BBQ right outside. Anita was very responsive to our requests and was accommodating to a last minute change in the number of guests and allowed us to charge our Tesla in front of the cottage.

The trip was for my Father and Brothers they love to fish, and we all had an outstanding time.

We really enjoyed Tammie's place, very cool old farmhouse in a quiet neighborhood. We saw deer out in the yard on several occasions. Tammie and her staff put a lot of thought into stocking the kitchen. The place has lots of room and is great for larger families.

Bouchard House is a charming gem in beautiful Clayton, NY. We parked our car upon arrival Friday night and never had to drive anywhere the entire weekend. My husband and I walked to restaurants, quaint shops, along the river and to a wedding at the Harbor Hotel. The house backs up to a local bar and grill, which also happened to be the setting of the wedding after party. We never once heard the music or the crowd. Our only disappointment is that we didn't get to meet Bonnie in person. We only spoke via messages, but she seems so sweet. Her only hope was for us to have a memorable visit. Mission accomplished Bonnie! Thank you again for everything and I hope we get the chance to visit again.

What an experience. Everybody should try this at least once! Renting your own private island made us feel like we were in a very private in exclusive place yet extremely close to things such as the boat ramp, restaurants, and other sights. You do need a boat of some sort, but that’s all part of the fun and experience! The house was well equipped uncomfortable. Swimming around the island was epic. It was a short 15 minute ride to get to sites such as bolt castle. There was also a great little restaurant in Rockport.

First time Airbnb user. What a GREAT place and experience! I was very nervous about the whole process. The owners put all that to rest quickly. Answered all questions faster than I expected. Provided detailed instructions, Harbor House is right on the water literally floating, with a great view of the river. It was very clean, and ready early for our visit. Our fall visit was only 3 days but we all absolutely enjoyed it. The kitchen, furniture, beds with linens, bathrooms with towels all were perfect. Parking was good as well. Evenings were spent on the porch talking, and of course, enjoying cocktails. Given it was October, we even had perfect weather, close to 70. The great weather was compliments of the owners at no charge. What a GREAT STAY! I would absolutely recommend this place.

Nick's place has a great vibe to it. There are a lot of amenities including kayaks which were a great activity to do. The host communicates very fast. Thanks for a great stay. We will be back!

What a lovely spot! Susan & family were so welcoming, my 4 year old loved getting to meet the many beautiful critters surrounding the guest house (getting toppled over by a friendly goat just added to the adventure!). The space is thoughtfully laid out to maximize the views, and the bed & furnishings are super comfortable. This was a staycation for us and it was truly a treat to have such a relaxing getaway in our own neighborhood.

This is the only place I'll stay at from now on in Alexandria Bay, the house sits right in the water and has amazing views of the river and bolt castle. There is a lot of space on the property including fire pits throughout and a nice pool.

Responsive host! Cottage was cute clean and perfect for any length of stay. The area is beautiful and is well maintained. We loved the outdoor fire spot and dining.

Loved our long weekend over there!! the place is huge , the river is beautiful ! canoe , kayaks , paddle board..... fishing awesome!! the yard and pool is also awesome for kids and adults alike!! people were friendly and easygoing!! will visit again for sure!

Fantastic hosts and a great location with lots of space and piece and quiet on the river shore. Loved the hammocks hanging up in different places. The pool was clean and our girls loved having it to themselves. The cottage(s) could do with an little upgrade especially the kitchen but beds were comfortable and it did have all we needed for 2 days including a barbecue.

We had a beautiful weekend. It is a beautiful and peaceful place. The beds were comfortable and it was very clean. I would book it again. They were also very accommodating for me and my guests. The dogs are super friendly and very cute.
