Family-friendly vacation rentals in Balestrand

What a lovely stay! The farm is so peaceful. We went with friends and our 13 month old daughter who loved seeing the sheep, and running around the yard. The place was fantastic for kids (high chair, crib, toys). We had the best time walking around the property, cooking delicious food, going in the hot tub and we even took the boat out for a special trip! There’s a sauna 10 minutes down the road which was a treat. Easy 1 hour drive from Bergen. Highly recommend!

Jannike was friendly, helpful and kind. She was very communicative in advance of our stay as well as during the stay and had some brilliant recommendations. At all times she was wanting the best for our stay and was quick to reply and help wherever necessary. We would love to come back and the whole stay was a delight!

A lovely place, close to the side roads in Apalvegen and wonderful by the fjord. Everything was top class, and well equipped both inside and in the outdoor area. We are six ladies who have had a great time.

We had a fantastic stay at Lars' house! The views from the modern jacuzzi were absolutely stunning—perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. The house itself is spacious and beautifully designed, with a large, well-equipped kitchen that made cooking a pleasure. We especially appreciated the use of the nearby boat for a bit of adventure on the water, and the charming hiking cabin up on the mountain was a cosy retreat to warm up in if needed. Don’t miss the nearby Likholefossen waterfall—it's definitely worth a visit! Lars was a friendly and generous host who made us feel very welcome. Highly recommended!

The house is located in a great area for hiking. We enjoyed beautiful panoramas and were able to relax fully in the jacuzzi and sauna. Highly recommended place if you want to escape the big crowds of tourists. Be aware the jacuzzi is for an additional charge and you need to prepare your own bed. We didn't mind these things and enjoyed our stay very much!

A fantastic house just by the fjord, very well kept with excellent views. However you will need a car to get to the house as it is out of the city centre but it is really worth the drive to the house to chill out for a few days. The house is very clean and has a well equipped kitchen and a large veranda that overlooks the fjord. Amazing place & I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is visiting Forde. Well equipted house, superb location – a very good experience at Arild‘s place. Owner is very easy to get in contact with, any issue is solved at the same minute :) 100% recommend for the one’s who will look at the place to rent in Førde !!!!!

The place was in a great location, it was a shame that we only stayed for one night and didn't have time to get a good view of the surrounding scenery, had a good communication with the host and when we struggled, immediately delegated his brother to come and help resolve.

Nice apartment with large kitchen and all the essentials. Approximately 15-20 min walk to the city center. Easy check-in via Lockbox.

Great location near college. Recommend the City guides walking tour, Martin. Kitchen was small but easy to cook in. Tiny table for 4. .Needed ladder to reach microwave. Had seasonings, oil and tea, coffee, sugar. Much more than other Scandinavian rentals. Uber easy to get around. Norway is beatiful

The accommodation is a separate and peaceful cottage, the landlord lives next door, so it offers both privacy and a sense of security. The farm has a beautiful environment with many animals and birds, and the landlord's dog is extremely cute. The landlord is polite and enthusiastic. The accommodation is ideally located, making shopping convenient, and it’s not far from the points of the hiking trails. We spent our entire vacation here and didn’t want to leave!

A fantastic property, exactly as described, with all needs taken care of. All major attractions within a 30 minute drivable distance and a grocery store that sells practically everything literally at your doorstep We really should have planned to stay for longer than 2 days.

Mountains on three sides and a fjord on the other. If you're looking for solitude at the end of the world, this is it. A piece of advice, it's a single lane road in with blind corners and hills, so be ready to stop on a dime for on coming traffic. Also, the local market will have essentially anything you'd need, but they have eccentric hours so I'd recommend bringing along a day's worth of food to be safe.

Definetely recommend if you are looking for a peaceful and immersive experience into the Norwegian culture and fjords, outside touristic areas. The house is lovely and Guro welcomed us very kindly. Kitchen is well equipped and the living room is big. Preferably stay at least 2 or 3 nights to enjoy the place.

Great location and nice apartment! The outdoor seating area is a huge plus. As others noted, there is a bit of train noise and the ladder/stairs to get to the loft are a bit tricky—I had no issues with either, but definitely important to keep in mind. Marta was lovely and would definitely recommend this apartment for any solo travellers visiting Voss.

Christen is unlike any other host. He met me at the bus stop and helped me with the luggage. He has a handwritten book of recommendations on where to eat and what to do, along with helpful instructions for the stay. He had left a bottle of wine, and cookies and coffee for me, which was very thoughtful. The place is super walkable to the city centre and the tour/airport bus stops. While central, it’s also tucked away from all the city centre madness and thereby offers a quiet and relaxing place to stay after a busy day of exploring the beauty of Norway. Christen was very friendly, flexible and welcoming. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a central place to stay in Bergen (as long as they don’t mind climbing up a few flight of stairs). Thanks for the lovely time in Bergen, Christen! Hope to stay here again when my travels bring me back to the incredibly beautiful city of Bergen. :) Cheers!

We had such a lovely stay at Bruvoll Feriehus - the home is very cosy with all the amenities for a relaxing, peaceful stay in this beautiful area of Norway. We found the home clean and comfortable. Annike was always friendly and quick to respond to our questions. Check in and out were both easy with clear instructions.

Beautiful modern house with an amazing view. We were lucky to have some very good weather and so we made use of the outdoor area which was well equipped with furniture and barbecue equipment. The house was very comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

My 20-year old child and I stayed at Elisabeth's flat and it was perfect - a lovely neighborhood and a clean, bright space. Everything is within easy walking distance (grocery, bus stop, touristic activities) and the kitchen had what we needed for some simple meals and lots of coffee. The official bedroom is in the back, dark and quiet, and that's where the kid slept - I had the twin bed in the front room (I'm up early) which was very comfortable. There is a door that closes so it feels like an official separate space, and a bookshelf to store your stuff on.

Christina was a great host! Super responsive and the place was clean and well maintained.

Convenient location close to public transportation and walkable to the city center. Lovely view of the fountain and park across the street. Clean and modern.

The house was beautifully furnished, spacious enough for five people, very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and large enough to allow us to cook great meals and a large dining table provided ample space for us to enjoy memorable meals together. Fantastic view of the fjord. Synnove was exceptionally responsive to our requests the entire week. We would highly recommend this place and would gladly stay there again if we return to the area.
