Completely re-imagined by a designer/architect, this 1950's house was stripped to the studs to be recreated into a modern oasis of cool just ten minutes to the epicenter of downtown Austin. Appointed with every comfort, the home sports sliding glass walls to the backyard to allow the inside out and the outside in. An expansive living room gets even larger with the view to the backyard's minimalist "mound of grass" and the communal fire-pit beyond. A massive 12 foot long dining table adds casual chic to any grill-out dinner party you may want to throw under the Texas stars, or just a leisurely cool morning coffee. Just a step up from the living room and a theatre-style kitchen and serving bar allows even the most gourmet chef to have their crack at cooking anything from the local Whole Foods headquarters. Every amenity is available for the food fanatic, from induction cook-top to espresso machine. Two bedrooms on either side of a long entry hallway provide great privacy for a two-couple retreat. The queen bed guest suite has its own direct access to the backyard with a wall of glass, and its own accompanying bath. The king bed master bedroom is a technical delight, with a ceiling mounted, flat-panel TV that rotates for viewing in bed or in the chroma therapy air jet bathtub. A separate shower stall with digital controls sports both a 12" rain shower head and a hand-held shower wand. The master bathroom, like the kitchen extension is completely clad in a warm zen-inducing bamboo. (NOTE: This house can be rented with the neighboring house for large get-togethers up to 10 people, and the two together provide TONS of outdoor entertainment space including two dining areas, a hot tub, the fire pit, and outdoor spa shower with a waterfall head. Guests have the run of the place including the completely renovated 50's house, and an extremely private fenced back yard including a huge entertainment space with a 12 foot long dining table, a Weber gas grill for outdoor cooking, the fire-pit (wood provided), and the spa-like outdoor shower. The owner resides in a studio behind this property and comes and goes like the wind via the side yard discretely. He is available via text and happy to help expeditiously, but in general guests have all the alone time they want or need! Windsor Park is a laid-back Keep Austin Weird neighborhood where, like Austin, kinda anything goes! Trendy spots nearby include the parks, running trails and pools at Mueller, Alamo Drafthouse Theater, Halcyon Coffee, B.D. Riley's Irish Pub, East Austin Yoga, The kNomad Global Bar, Kirby Lane (pancakes!) and the amazing Paco's Tacos, just to name a few. The eco-friendly, HEB grocery center (.25 miles from the house) has everything from Starbucks & Liquor, to pizza & gas just moments away. There are busses which are frequented by the students in the area, and the nearest light rail is at Highland Mall just 1 mile away. However, like most of Austin, the most convenient option is to have a car. This property is used by the owner for entertaining his own family and guests. It's in tip-top shape and decked out with his personal collection of art and books and a chef's dream kitchen. For the caring and refined guest, this house is an incredible repose and a perfect way to really live in a "Keep Austin Weird" neighborhood but also be accommodated in luxury. The television in this house is entirely driven by digital content and does not include basic cable.

Renovated Eastside Mid-Century Duplex

We live in an architecturally unique section of the Cherrywood neighborhood in East Austin. Sometimes called "Duplex Nation", the development was constructed in 1948 by a developer named Bascom Giles, who built the neighborhood to serve moderate income families following WWII. There are a few floor plans, but all are built out of cinder block bricks covered in stucco and have a distinct style compared to the surrounding neighborhoods. Duplex Nation is a good mix of renters and live-in owners, with a quirky style that enabled the development to be added to the National Register of Historic Places as the Delwood Duplex Historic District in 2011. We have fully renovated the inside of both the upstairs and downstairs apartments. Refinished hardwood floors, refinished yellow pine doors and updated paint in all rooms. The gourmet kitchen is brand new, including cabinets, countertops, stainless steel appliances and a dish washer. In addition, we have removed some of the interior walls to allow for an open concept kitchen, dining and living area. We updated the bathroom, and to save space, we have done away with the bathtub, but we have a very luxurious new shower that should not disappoint. We have a new tankless, on-demand water heater, so no worries about running out of hot water. The air conditioning/heating system is new as well. We provide access to a washing machine and dryer for our guests (but please use the soap provided, as it is a high efficiency washer). We have space for two cars for off street parking, up the alley in the back of our place. Our place is a duplex. Unit A is a self-contained apartment downstairs, so you will have it all to yourself. We live upstairs in Unit B. We are generally around and will be happy to suggest local restaurants and activities to those not familiar with Austin. You will have a full kitchen downstairs, but depending on our schedule, we may be able to invite you upstairs for a pastry and an espresso for breakfast. David speaks a little Spanish and P.Y. is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and certain Chinese dialects. Anything we can do to assist in your stay, we will do. Locals refer to this pocket of Cherrywood as 'Duplex Nation.' It's a good mix of renters and live-in owners, with a quirky style. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places as the Delwood Duplex Historic District in 2011. We are very close to the UT campus and to downtown Austin. We are also close to a number of cafes and restaurants down on Manor Road (pronounced MAYner by the locals), walking distance (about a mile). There are a number of nice public buses that run over to campus, downtown, and through the bohemian streets of East Austin. We are looking into providing bicycles for use during your stay, subject to a bike deposit. When we are able, we would be happy to pick up our guests from Austin Bergstrom International Airport. There is space for a fifth person on the couch in the living room downstairs. There will be a 25USD surcharge per night for the extra guest.

Gorgeous remodeled 3 bedroom home close to Mueller which has the best Sunday farmers market! It’s also less than 10 minutes to the Moody Center/UT, 15 minutes to downtown. The house is stocked with everything you need! A brand new TV loaded with Netflix and Hulu, a full kitchen with coffee and snacks, Kiehl’s toiletries in the bathrooms. We live locally and can assist with anything you need! The house is in a neighborhood so please be mindful of noise, and no outdoor noises after 10 pm
