Tucked Inn: Dog Friendly Secluded Mountain Cabin

IzekielRating, 5 stars1 month ago
My girlfriend and I had a great time spending the weekend at Tucked Inn and, for the most part, everything went as smoothly as expected! We arrived late, and there was a gentleman there starting some work on the property’s hot tub. We got in touch with Donnie using his phone, and my understanding is that the repairman was meant to arrive earlier in the day. I don’t necessarily believe it was any fault of the hosts that he was around. The drive up is straightforward as long as you follow the instructions the hosts provide; the path requires 1.5-2 miles of unmapped travel, so a GPS alone won’t quite get you there. Although I would definitely recommend traveling with a higher-clearance vehicle, my compact sedan made it up just fine with some caution and patience. Overall, Tucked Inn was a great space to unplug and unwind which is something we both really needed. It’s a very cozy and low-tech-vacation space I would hope we have the chance to come back to in the future!

Jeremy's place was a wonderful place to relax during a busy wedding weekend. It's 20 minutes from Sky Retreat, the wedding venue we used. I highly recommend Jeremy's place for a place to relax. The views were beautiful, we saw bunnies and deer, and the firepit was delightful!

we felt right at home in this beautifully and tastefully decorated home. It has a very peaceful and serene outdoor area, where we spent most of our time grilling or just sitting by the fire pit. Can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay! Richard is an excellent host who obviously wants his guests to have the best stay possible. Our personal favorites were the outdoor areas. Briar Run Cabin near Grayson Highlands Park

LarsRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Virgil's place made for a fantastic getaway for our family. While we had mainly intended to hike at Grayson Highlands (we did, and it was wonderful as always), our toddler's favorite part of the trip was hands-down the creek on the property. If you're coming with little ones, bring water shoes and swimsuits for them (and good waterproof hiking boots for yourself so you can help them navigate the rocky creek bed -- there are a few spots with finer gravel where it's easy to sit and throw rocks in the water, but you have to get to them, which was half the fun). The breeze through the windows and the shaded porch helped more than we expected with the heat, so the lack of air conditioning wasn't a problem for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

If I was someone on the fence about staying here, I would absolutely stay here! It was beautiful, very clean, well taken care of and very relaxing! It was the best way to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and we will certainly be back! The price was very reasonable for 2 nights in a beautiful relaxing cabin too! We were able to bring our puppy which made it even better! Firefly cabin is a must stay!

Remote mountain cabin near Elk River Falls

GarrettRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Walter gave us an amazing place to stay for our anniversary weekend. Very secluded and private, which is something we were looking for. We felt right at home when we walked in and wish we could take this cabin back home. Everything was very tidy, well organized and we didn’t have to go looking for anything. We didn’t get to use the fire pit because it rained a majority of the weekend, which we were bummed about, but that didn’t stop us from sitting outside and listening to the sound of the river, rain and frogs. Very peaceful! Being so close to the river it made it very easy and quick to run down and throw a few casts in the river. Thank you Walter for the very comfortable stay. This place is on our list of places to hopefully return to!

"Hidden Gem" cabin w/Long range & Panoramic Views

AngelaRating, 5 stars1 week ago
My husband and I stayed for a weekend with our Blue Heeler Juniper. Sheree's place was everything we were looking for. The view was amazing and it was so peaceful and quiet. Our very energetic dog had plenty of room to run and play. The cabin was clean, well stocked, and very comfortable for all of us. Sheree was very responsive to questions and provided good information for our stay. The hiking in the Grayson Highlands was amazing!! This place truly is a "hidden gem" and we would definitely stay here again. Thank you Sheree for a great stay!

The Round House in the Clouds with Endless Views

KareemRating, 5 stars2 days ago
This was an incredibly peaceful long weekend getaway in the mountains. This is the kind of place where we hope to come back to some day. Whether you're sitting in the living room, on a kitchen stool, or anywhere on the deck, this place is an escape into the NC mountain ranges. Lizzie is a great host, and we had zero issues from beginning to end. It is evident that a great deal of thought was put into even the smallest touch of things here. We def hope to visit again some day!

Cozy Hide-A-Way

BradRating, 5 stars1 week ago
What to say... This place is AMAZING! My wife(Ella) and I were looking for a place in Virginia for a hiking trip. We decided on Jackie's place. This was also our first major hiking trip since getting married(Jan 2025). It was perfect. Peaceful. Quiet. Surrounded by nature. Also close to many hiking destinations so the trip back each day was fast so that we could relax. Oh... And did I mention screened in porch! The screened in porch had me a little emotional. My late grandmother passed years ago and we'd always sit on her porch(when it rained, late at night, watching weird neighbors, all kinds of stuff). It is a cherished memory. Anytime a porch like this is involved it brings back so many memories with her. Note: Give the great outdoor puzzle upstairs a chance. We had so much fun putting it together! This place could easily hold 3 or 4 people or a small family. There's plenty of space(inside/outside) to have your together and me-time. It was the best for us 2. We'll be back!

Johnson's Cabin at Winters Haven

AmataRating, 5 stars2 days ago
Beautiful surroundings, cabin was clean and comfortable and accommodating beyond our expectations - we didn’t want for anything! It’s a bit of an adventure finding the drive in but signage at all the key points was super helpful. The scenery could not be beat: beautiful sunsets across an open field and absolute peace and quiet! Daniel & Carol were always very responsive and helpful with any questions we had, even if it was just asking the names of the donkeys that we were lucky enough to make acquaintances with. Beds were super comfortable and clean, and both the kitchen and bathroom were generously stocked with anything you might need. And for being out in the country it was surprisingly free of mosquitos during our stay! We drove out to some state parks during the day but spent every morning & evening on the porch. An absolute delight 😍.

The Wood Shop @ Boone Retreat

OrvilRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We really loved our stay at the Wood Shop. The area was quiet and the accommodations were one of a kind. This isn’t a “cookie cutter” kind of place. The creativity and detail work in this place makes it a unique experience while at the same time it was cozy and comfortable. We would book again if we head that way again. Boone in general is so beautiful and there are so many places to get outside and enjoy the beauty as well as a ton of great places to eat.
