These are the sweetest people. Nimalka made us breakfast each morning which was delicious and even arranged for her husband to tuk tuk us around for a day to see waterfalls and the tea plantation. He is also wonderful! The place is only a short 12-15 minute walk from the busy road in Ella with many fun restaurants and bars. You can also walk to the nine arches bridge path and Little Adam’s Peak (longer - about an hour) from the property. Nimalka even gave us a takeaway breakfast the night before because we had an early safari departure, which was just above and beyond. We had a lovely and very comfortable stay. Thank you again for everything!

What an amazing place, in a beautiful area of the island. From the moment we drew up to the gates of the Dutch House, we were greeted by the most gorgeous Dutch villa, and the all-pervasive smile of Kannan, who looked after us like members of the family during our stay. The house sits high on the hills outside of Bandarawela, up a short, but very steep road, which gives it a great vantage point over the surrounding lush hills and mountains. It’s a great climate so a gin and tonic on the veranda was a joy. We made use of the pool, and although not heated, you soon get used to it. The surrounding gardens are very well kept and have a plethora of birds and other wildlife. The food prepared by the on site chef was wonderful, as was the attentive service from Kannan. We also had the best sleep we've had during our trip. Even if you’re not in the immediate area, a drive here and a stay in this wonderful house, will surely be one of the highlights of any trip. It was for ours.

This place was the highlight of our trip in Sri Lanka. From the second you arrive its like staying with family. the beds are comfortable the rooms spacious, air con and hot water. The very low room rate made us think there would be something wrong. Quite the opposite, Bhagya should simply be charging more. The dinner the family cooked for us was incredible and to see the safari/yala at the North end of the park, away from the crowds was the best experience we could have hoped for. there's only 15 safari 4x4s in the north opposed to 300 vehicles in the south. Raise your prices Bhagya this is the best product in Sri Lanka

Wonderful villa. Lovely views and very good amenities. The hosts were very gracious and took care of all our requirements. The food was very well prepared. Great stay overall.

This was an amazing stay! I wish I stayed longer. The owners Asith and his wife have made a lovely piece of heaven in the mountains. The property and it's surrounding are a dream! The hosts are kind and made us a top notch breakfast. On top of that they are so accommodating and super hard working. There are some considerations when people choose to book, if you're bringing a mini van it's a bit tricky, but the owners make it work! But just keep in mind roads are narrow. They provide their tuk tuk to help as well.

Communication was great before & during our stay. Our time here was excellent. Magnificent views, comfortable living. Comfortable beds. Rooftop breakfasts a great way to start the day. Shan & JP were super helpful with recommendations and advice for Ella. Also arranged transport for us to local sites and offered to arrange our transfer to our next destination if we needed.

Poorna's villa was beautiful. It was spacious, clean and with all basic amenties. Host was extremely friendly, and extended help in whatever we requested for , instance arranged laundry services etc. Breakfast spread was decent with coconut roti, breads, egg, juices, fruits, coffee/ tea. Poorna's wife also showed us how they make Srilankan rotis. Overall fantastic stay and highly recommend family with kids.

Loved the place, specifically the hospitality of the host and family, everything was much refreshing and rejuvenating.

Very nice place. The room as in the photos, in front of the room hammocks and sun loungers, you can relax looking at the beautiful mountains. Ishari and her son Vaneesah are lovely, they are happy to tell you what to see. Vaneesaha picked us up from the station, gave us a great tour of Ella the next day, a day later he drove us to Udawalawe for a Safari, which he also arranged for us. Delicious breakfasts, great communication, and the best front desk guy-pee Bruno ❤️

Super warm welcome. 🥰 We arrived a little earlier than planned and so our room was not yet ready. However, it didn't take 10 minutes and it was ready and we got tea & coffee as a welcome. We were given some options that we can visit. Every morning there was incredibly delicious breakfast and we enjoyed a great view. Great 3 nights we were allowed to spend. I appreciate it. Thanks! 🥰

Fantastic view and friendly staff! We enjoy walking so the location was great for us, and it’s easy to take a tuk tuk if needed. The area is a bit noisy, there was construction going on during the day but we didn’t find it bothersome in the evenings so we could get rest. The breakfast is good, with fresh fruit and the omelette it was what we needed.

Thank you for such a beautiful stay in Ella. From the moment you picked us up everything was perfect. We loved staying at the Solitary retreat and wish we could have stayed longer. Dileepa was so attentive, sharing local recommendations and providing the most delicious breakfast. We would love to come back one day.

This was an amazing stay! The views from the rooms are superb, really beautiful. The room is very comfortable and good size, with a lovely balcony. The homecooked breakfast was amazing, very tasty and big portion. The location is perfect as it is a short 10 min walk into Ella but it is away from the busyness so very quiet and peaceful. Lilu is a great host. Very welcoming and friendly, with a lovely family. She was very helpful, even providing us with a pack up breakfast for our very early departure! Would definitely recommend and would stay here again!

Our best find in Sri Lanka. Hosts, Michael & Ruwanthi are so friendly & helpful, going out of their way to make sure we had a truly wonderful time. Glyn Myu is beautiful, luxurious & very comfortable. The location is quite simply breathtaking. Ruwanthi is an incredibly talented cook serving exquisite meals with most ingredients gathered from her extensive garden. Her knowledge of the dietary & medicinal properties of her homegrown larder is very impressive. She is also delighted to share her passion & knowledge. A Sri Lankan gem where we felt welcome, relaxed & immediately at home. They have a very informative website with contact details!

lovely guest house in the hills, very peaceful away from the main town, and great breakfast!

A place in the middle of the jungle, the location is perfect – secluded and quiet, but still in just 20 minutes in the center. However, the host also arranges tuk tuk rides or scooters. Hardly any mosquitoes, which makes the stay even more pleasant. Breakfast was delicious, but the absolute highlight was dinner! We looked forward to it every day – prepared with a lot of love, excellent taste and simply a pleasure. It was also always a pleasure to chat with the host and get exciting insights.
