Windsor Park is a laid-back Keep Austin Weird neighborhood where, like Austin, kinda anything goes! Trendy spots nearby include the parks, running trails and pools at Mueller, Alamo Drafthouse Theater, Halcyon Coffee, B.D. Riley's Irish Pub, East Austin Yoga, The kNomad Global Bar, Kirby Lane (pancakes!) and the amazing Paco's Tacos, just to name a few. The eco-friendly, HEB grocery center (.25 miles from the house) has everything from Starbucks & Liquor, to pizza & gas just moments away. There are busses which are frequented by the students in the area, and the nearest light rail is at Highland Mall just 1 mile away. However, like most of Austin, the most convenient option is to have a car. This property is used by the owner for entertaining his own family and guests. It's in tip-top shape and decked out with his personal collection of art and books and a chef's dream kitchen. Free WiFi - great space to get some work/business taken care of while in town. The home is situated in a quiet neighborhood in downtown Austin, located walking distance from Darrell Royal Stadium, UT, AT&T Conference Center, Texas Capitol building, restaurants, museums, cafes, parks, stores, salons and the famous 6th Street. If you are in town for a conference at the AT&T center, you will be happy to know it is only 6 easy blocks away, 4 blocks from the UT campus, 8 blocks from the Erwin Center, 11 blocks or a $5-$7 cab ride to 6th street or the football stadium. The Austin Convention Center is just about a mile and a half away, for a leisurely stroll through downtown or a $7-$8 cab ride. Starbucks and Wells Fargo are 2 blocks in one direction, sandwich shops and pizza 2 blocks in the other. There is a 7-11 in both directions. Great Indian food and neighborhood pubs in easy walking distance. This home away from home is near everything you need! Parking is an assigned spot in a covered garage. The garage has low clearance (7 feet) and the parking spots are regular, car-sized spots. Large SUVs and trucks will stick out too far. There is paid city street parking ($1/hr) during day time, and it is free overnight and on Sundays. Host is not responsible for loss, theft, damage, injury or cancellation fees. Airbnb recommends that all guests purchase traveler's insurance.

Central East Austin is a diverse and dynamic neighborhood that is just a few minutes from downtown and yet still quiet. In addition to offering of some of Austin's best restaurants and music venues, it also has important history to explore. In the last century, highway 35 was a tool of segregation, with east (of 35) Austin providing a rich community for African Americans. See how this history lives on through a plethora of old and new businesses is this burgeoning neighborhood! There is a parking spot that you are welcome to use directly in front of the house and there is also plenty of street parking with no permitting or street cleaning concerns. The closest B-Cycle station is a 15 minute walk away at Victory Grill on 11th St. Many of the 6th St restaurants and bars are a 10 minute walk as well. If you would prefer not to walk, there are a selection of ride share services such as RideAustin (our favorite), Lyft, or Uber. The street has two names, Hamilton Ave and Richard Overton Ave. Depending on your map source you may see either one pop up. Richard Overton is the oldest living American and American World War II veteran at 112 years of age. He lives down the block where be bought a house after the war ended.

Central Austin Living in a Light-Filled Retreat

Overlook an idyllic, foliage-flanked terrace from the comfort of your sumptuous king size bed. This home’s high ceiling adds a sense of luxury and space, while terracotta floor tiles and natural wood furnishings create a warm, welcoming ambience. The things that make this stay unique inside is the large room, big closet, lots a lot of natural sunlight, high ceilings, dedicated air conditioning unit, and I really try to make it as homey as I want to want it to be when I'm traveling. Direct TV and wifi ofcourse. Outside the room: you cannot beat the location - easy access to all events in and around Austin, downtown is a 10 minute cab ride, and with your own parking/driveway you will probably not even know that anybody else lives there. Coffee maker, microwave, and refrigerator are in the room, And you are welcome to use our grill in the backyard. I have it pretty well stocked with things that you need but you are always welcome to ask for more supplies. I'm pretty quick reply to text messages The housekeeper comes on Wednesdays if you are in for a longer trip and want your room cleaned. There is a King Sleep Number bed & and an AMAZING DEDICATED LG Airconditioning/heating unit! We are a busy family and you will probably not see us but if you need us for any help at all, then shoot us a text! Also when you're here for events if I'm available to drop you off or pick you up I'm happy to help with that. The guest suite is located in beautiful Westlake Hills, one of Austin’s most desirable neighborhoods. It’s just minutes from Barton Springs, Lady Bird Lake, several hiking trails and downtown.
