About 6 minutes by car, about 20 minutes on foot. Located in the heart of Shodoshima, this is a fully renovated, stained glass lit, old house inn in 2021. We hope it will be one of your favorite places on Shodoshima. The second floor is the accommodation space and there are about 15 steps on a sloping staircase. Please be careful if you are traveling with small children, as there are no fences. On the first floor of the building, a former chef of the Japanese embassy in several countries runs a restaurant called "Kasuke", a creative sushi kaiseki restaurant. You can get a 10% discount by telling them you are staying at our accommodation and booking in advance. KAIWA NO SATO This old house is an indigo mansion built in the first year of the Bunsei era (1804) during the heyday of indigo. The main house and the sleeping area (a barn where indigo was stored) have been demolished due to aging, but the historic living room and garden have been preserved to allow guests to experience a little bit of that time, and it is used as a farmhouse inn. In the old days, "Indigofera" grew on the fertile land of the Yoshino River basin in Tokushima Prefecture, bringing great wealth to Tokushima Prefecture (Awa Province). Ancient documents on indigo, including cultural properties, are also available for viewing. You can rent a small old house and a large Japanese garden, limited to one group per day. Spend your days like a local at this place, which is close to the Seto Inland Sea. We have 2 electric bicycles and 5 bicycles available. They are available for free to guests. You can also take your bike on the ferry to Naoshima and Teshima. Insects may enter the house depending on the season, as the garden is close to the old house. We are taking measures, but please refrain from booking if you are not good with insects.
