This is a great place to relax! Extremely quiet, spectacular view and plenty of space for a family of 4 to 6 to spread out and chill. The private beach is a nice added touch and Baddeck is only a 2 minute drive, but I wouldn’t walk there, cars drive a little fast down that road and there’s no sidewalk. Tyler was a great host, explained everything perfectly, right down to recommending water shoes for the private beach ( which we had). There’s also a nice listing of local places and lots of brochures so you can find stuff to do. It was ~25 degrees when we stayed and it gets nice and cool at night so not having A/C isn’t a problem. There are so many windows that open in so many directions, you’ll catch a breeze.

The cabins are tucked in to a little bit of paradise. We really liked the camping vibe of the place and the guitars in each cabin were a very welcome touch to my son, who was missing his guitar at home. Wish we had longer to go out kayaking. Gives us a reason to come back!

We had the absolute best time staying in this glamping cabin! From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was next level. The owners greeted us with a tour of the property by golf cart — Right from the start, we felt so welcomed and at ease. They truly went above and beyond, even helping us fire up the grill and cook our pizza, making sure everything was perfect for dinner. The conversation flowed easily — they’re not just kind, but genuinely funny and down-to-earth people you’d love to hang out with again. everything on the property was built with love by the owner himself — you can feel the care and dedication in every corner. His wife added the most thoughtful personal touches to the interiors that made the space feel cozy, intentional, and incredibly inviting. Every little detail was seen and deeply appreciated. The property is absolutely stunning — full of unique spots to unplug and reconnect. We cannot wait to come back!

Kim’s place was great for our trip to Celtic Colours. Location was good as it had easy access to major roads but was not on one. Cabin was comfortable with lots of nice touches. Easy to make meals in the well equipped kitchen. Kim accommodated our fragrance free needs graciously. She was always responsive. We had a wonderful week and would definitely return!

Kim's home is comfortable and spacious and had what we needed to cook and relax. There is some noise from the road, which is close by, but it's fairly quiet at night.

Much more than I expected amazing location great amenities and most of all a very gracious and accommodating host. If I could’ve given 10 stars I would thank you again Mark for everything!!!

There was an amazing experience staying at this beautiful place. Angelo is friendly and informative person. I would highly suggest to visit River Nest Wilderness Cabins you’ll definitely have a great rest.

Gem of a spot! Close to the convenience of Baddeck but with your own stunning lake view from the porch/your bed and private beach access...worth the trail walk! Theresa, Dave, and Jack were great and ready to help with any of our needs!

Staff at Cabot Shores, and especially Paul were efficiently and immediately responsive to our needs. We enjoyed our stay and appreciated getting to chat with Paul and learning about the development of this unique facility. We appreciated Paul’s commitment to protecting the environment through recycling, solar use and by growing vegetables and raising egg laying hens. Perhaps renters with pets should be given a heads up that the cabins have ant traps. The outside air was pleasant so keeping the windows open was great, but screens on all the windows would be helpful in keeping the mosquitoes out.

Mark’s house is perfect for a family holiday in Cape Breton Island. It’s location is midway between two areas that you may wish to visit, Cape Breton National Park and Sydney/Louisbourg. The house is situated next to a lake so there is a beautiful view from the living room and deck. The house is extremely comfortable with loads of space. We greatly appreciated having air-conditioning during the hot spell of weather that we had during our stay. Mark was very helpful, and provided loads of excellent information about things to do in the area. I highly recommend this lovely home.

Elizabeth puts so much thought into making sure her guests have everything they need including fresh food, flavoured coffee, and anything else to make their visit perfect. Her level of communication is superior to anyone else I have ever stayed with. The house is charming and cosy and I had the best sleeps when staying there. What Elizabeth forgot to mention is that she is in a very walkable neighbourhood and only two blocks from Sydney Harbour, right on the edge of one of the scenic driving routes. It is only a half hour to Louisbourg, and 15 minutes or less to Glace Bay. It was the perfect set up for exploring Cape Breton.

Green Gables is a beautiful place to spend a few days, close enough to Baddeck for takeaway pizza but far enough away for total peace and quiet. The house was warm, very comfortable and clean, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. It felt like we were in Anne of Green Gables!!!

What a beautiful place to stay! Andra had clear directions laid out for us, since the service is spotty on the way, and it was very easy for us to find! Private, quiet, and just an overall wonderful stay. Andra was quick to help us with anything we needed during our stay. Nice open concept and great for the kiddos. Would definitely stay again!

Great location near Cape Breton. Very cozy and clean chalet. Perfect for a family getaway and the staff are very helpful with local tips and recommended hikes.

Derricks place was fabulous! It fit our needs perfectly. We stayed with kids and grand kids. Derrick was easy to reach if we had questions. The house was spotless and lots of room. My grandson especially enjoyed the basketball net. Would definitely stay again.

Courtney’s place is right above her charming artisan’s shop which carries the work of local crasftspeople, artists, and authors. The apartment had exactly what we needed, but not too much. It was serene, airy, bright and cozy. We loved our 6 nights there. I didn’t want to leave! Courtney was a delight - helpful, cheerful, kind. My husband and I highly recommend this sweet little oasis. 💖
