  • Mark is a hell of a nice guy, very down to earth and thoughtful to his guests. The place is great, lots of space, close to town, plenty to see and do if you’re into the great outdoors! Five stars ⭐️

  • Marks place is the real Bach experience. We loved the isolation and the space it provided. The kitchen area in particular was amazing. Its certainly somewhere to enjoy the Coromandel peninsula from.

  • This house is amazing, such a unique, rustic retreat in an unexpected location, not far from the amenities you need, but also totally secluded. The outdoor shower is to die for! Plenty of space to spread out. I highly recommend checking this spot out.

  • Great private accommodation. Great value and highly recommended

  • This is a truly back to nature experience. A very rustic cabin with great outdoor shower - it's easy to work and works well, and a compost toilet. If that's what you're into this is the place.

  • Nice surroundings and earth building!

    Filipe2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Very rustic accommodation. If you want TV, don't come, but if you are happy to curl up with a book (Mark has lots to choose from), have a glass of wine and feel if you are glamping in the bush, then do come.

    David2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Mark is a top host with a great place to stay. Felt like I was in Morocco with the clay-like walls and features. Very cool.

Colville Village was a old gold mining, Kauri logging town in the late 1800 early 1900. There is a wee school with 32 students total still going strong. We also have about 6 communes still functioning with 1 still offering woofing for travelers who want to work for accommodation. Sheep and beef farming is still very popular in Colville with lots of generations of family farms still running. Colville is becoming very popular destination, to just get away from it all, with a range of outdoor activities available.
  • Fantastic bush bach for a retreat. Highly recommend.

  • This is a bush cabin, and a beautiful space. I used the time as a retreat, and it was wonderful. The stream, the birds, the peacefulness were outstanding.

  • Spent 7 days here with our two kids (3 & 5) and dog. Pretty incredible spot surrounded by Bush and with a beautiful clear river running right past the cabins it was a lot of fun to go exploring.

    Sam2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • This place was just so perfect for us!! We stayed 5 nights (2 adults and boys aged 6&10), we loved the cabin so much, boys had fun in the woods and we enjoyed all of the walks and activities like horse trekking and swimming in the river. One thing I really appreciated was how accurate the listing was and how much detail Belinda had gone to with notices in the cabin etc. we had rain one day but that didn’t stop our fun, we will definitely come back!!

    Kathryn2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Best relaxation place, nature around, creek around, nice walks along the creek to the falls, horseback riding very nice and organised. Recommended!

    Steffen2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cottage. Perfectly sited and we fitted 6 of us in there no problem. Nifty gas cooker. So much to do if you like the bush and streams. Just a wonderful getaway.

Our home is nestled on the hill overlooking Whangapoua Beach and the Pacific Ocean. The views are amazing! The cabin is adjacent to our home and has its own shower and toilet. It’s basic but humble and cosy! The ‘outdoor kitchen’ is covered and has everything you need to prepare a meal or breakfast (including a small oven, BBQ and fridge). Iit so you can enjoy the great outdoor life style but be sheltered while enjoying the ocean outlook. The cabin is great for couples and solo adventurers.
The highlight of staying at our place is the views.... humble accommodation, priceless views!
Whangapoua Beach – white sand, clear water, world renowned surf, a nice lagoon and a stunning harbour full of fish. A number of short walks including the world famous New Chum Beach, the lesser known ‘hole in the rock’ and the idyllic coastal walk around the Matarangi Beach spit. We are 25 minutes drive from Coromandel Town and 35 minutes to Whitianga. Some say we are a great middle point between the two towns. We advise all our guests who want to bring food that the last BIG supermarkets are in either Whitianga or Thames. Alternatively we have a very small convenience store (limited stock / closes 5pm and Wednesday’s at 1pm in the winter) and Coromandel Township has a ‘Four Square’ grocery store (closes 7pm). There are a number of restaurants and takeaways in Coromandel Town and at Matarangi Beach ‘The Dunes’ golf course has a restaurant and in Kuaotunu there is the world famous Luke’s Kitchen. Please note these are all at least 15 minutes drive from us.
  • Everything was perfect, thanks again!

    Lawrence2020-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle and Lance prepared a nice and friendly welcome for us. Everything was spotless, bed and cabin are very comfy. The garden is lovely with great views above the bay. The kitchen offers everything you need. Highly recommend this place!

    Michael2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Echoing other reviews, the cabin is rather more than humble, with the outdoor kitchen you'll have everything you need, the views are fantastic, and Michelle and Lance make for fantastic hosts - you can book with confidence!

    Anna2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous spot, remote enough without being far from anywhere. Views from the room were stunning, outdoor kitchen was awesome and Michelle and Lance were so welcoming.

    Holly2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at the Humble Cabin which overlooks the beautiful in Whangapoua. The views of the South Pacific Ocean are awesome particularly when enjoying breakfast in the semi-outdoor huge kitchen. The cabin was very thoughtfully designed to include a compact sink, shower and toilet. The bed is queen size and extremely comfortable. The kitchen has nice refrigerator, portable oven, grill and cutlery. The property sits high above the beach and it’s a few minute drive to the beach or a pleasant 15 to 20 minute walk. Michele and Lance or charming couple and can offer helpful advice for enjoying and exploring Whangapoua.

Simple, rustic cottage set right on the waterfront and in a prime position to do absolutely nothing but just sit back and take in the amazing location & scenery. Castaway Cottage welcomes couples to experience a little slice of seaside heaven. The timber-lined cottage is cosy, simple and open-plan with combined kitchen & dining. Cooking facilities include 2 zone cooktop, microwave, a baby Webber BBQ (gas supplied), modern upright fridge/freezer. Queen bed on the ground level.
A serene seaside escape where you will relax, unwind and rejuvenate your spirit. Privately located on a beautiful coastal farm and surrounded by Pohutukawa trees with ocean waves crashing (or lapping) against the rocky foreshore just metres below the cottage. Incredible unobstructed ocean views south over to Kuaotunu and Matarangi coastline and east to Great Mercury Island. If you are fortunate you may spot the dolphins or whales just offshore swimming. The rocky seashore invites snorkelling, fishing, sea- kayaking or beachcombing for treasures. Day trips can be comfortably taken from Castaway Cottage to explore the stunning & unique Northern Coromandel - native bush, pristine walk sand beaches - Little Bay, Waikawau Beach (surf beach) or visit Colville, Port Charles, Stony Bay.
Castaway Cottage is located in Tuateawa, Northern Coromandel - the last town for petrol and provisions is Coromandel Town which about 19 kms away and travel time to Tuateawa can take up to 25-30 minutes. The road from Coromandel Town to Tuateawa is partly sealed, narrow & windy but traveled daily by locals. Care should be taken - slow & steady will get you there. There are NO restaurants or cafe's in Tuateawa! Tuateawa is a coastal sleepy settlement with a sprinkling of local folks and holiday homes on the East coast of the Coromandel peninsula. There are fabulous coastal/sea views, rugged cliffs and is set in an area of native forest. Further north from Castaway Cottage - 10-15 minutes drive - to the beautiful and unspoilt sandy beaches of Little Bay and Waikawau. Little Bay is a sheltered cove, a safe beach for children with a lagoon and Pohutukawa trees for shade. Waikawau is a long stretch of golden sand, with good waves, popular with board riders and surf casters.
  • Perfect little spot for decompressing. Definitely stop at the Four Square In Coromandel before heading up. I didn’t find any heat so be sure to have layers. If you’re not a terribly adventurous driver, be sure to have a car that easily handles extremely curvy, dirt roads. I was in a silly little hatchback which mostly did fine, but it skid a few times when turning on gravel. DON’T take your eyes off the road to look at the views! The road is higher in the middle and I found myself drifting to the side when I looked out. There are no rails in places, just cliffs. Keep an eye out for hawks (falcons?) snacking on possums. Yum. The place itself is exactly what you expect. Cozy, homey and amazing views. Lots of sun (on sunny days) and bird song. There was a cheeky bird that sounded like an iPhone—just ignore him. Comfortable bed, nice hot water (but don’t take a long shower or that water becomes not to hot). I drove south to a beach just down the road and reveled in the solitude....with birds and a couple estuary cows. And amazing light at golden hour. Ramble, ramble... just go to there!

  • Loved our stay!! Such an amazing location. Simple and comfortable cottage with an unbeatable view. So relaxing and peaceful. Recommend!!

  • This little cottage is about as dreamy as it gets! We fell asleep to the sound of the ocean each night, read books in the sun and explored the coastline. This is a great spot to relax and get refreshed!

    Immanuel2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time, could easily have stayed longer than two nights. We used the kitchen to cook dinner and it was great to eat out on the deck. A great base to come back to after exploring the Coromandel peninsula, which is a bit less touristy than further south. The road in is a bit windy but well maintained for an unsealed road. Worth the effort to get here when you arrive! Useful local tips and maps in the house guide which were really handy. Thanks

"Wai Wurri" is a classic old-style Kiwi bach. Located in Colville - a picturesque 25 minute drive north of Coromandel town. The bach itself is down a quiet country road, within a 6 Ha property, surrounded by farmland, looking across the tidal Colville Bay.
Self-contained with full kitchen and bathroom facilities. 2 double bedrooms - queen beds. Gas BBQ. 2 Kayaks available for use - ideal for a paddle on a calm day.
With the last store and petrol pumps, on the northern end of the peninsula, the village of Colville is usually the last comfort stop for your trip onwards to the end of the Coromandel Peninsula. This area is still very much a rural farming community, but with it’s green native bush and beautiful coastline, fringed with native Pohutukawa trees, this northern end of the Peninsula is fast becoming a year round holiday destination for both Kiwis and international visitors.

A sunny guesthouse close to the bush, the beach, a waterfall and spring water pools. There is abundant bird life, and the air and water are clean and fresh. We are very close to a beautiful beach that is white sand and safe for swimming. We are within an eco village that is run solely on solar power and is a quiet and restful retreat space. A piece of paradise perfect for total relaxation.
The guesthouse has only recently been built so it is new and clean and a sunny restful place to stay in. It is decorated with my fabric art and the colors throughout are bright and cheerful. You can sit on the sunny deck and admire the bush views and watch the native birds fly by and listen to the sound of the fresh water stream that comes from the waterfall and runs through the property. The guesthouse is self contained with a detached composting toilet and a solar hot water shower.
We are very close to the beautiful Waikawau Bay which is a white sand safe swimming beach of absolute beauty. Colville is the nearest village (which is half an hours drive north of Coromandel town) and then 20 minutes to Karuna.
  • We had a 3-day stay at Barbel's place, and enjoyed it greatly. It is a lovely quiet location with a peaceful bush outlook. Lots of bird life, and a beach not too far away. We also had a number of meals prepared by Barbel which were delicious.

    Peter2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Our rental car was a ridulous bright green colour. It had more bucolic cred when we arrived having acquired a dusting, from the 9k of gravel roads, but it was all worth it to find the secluded nook. Baerbel welcomed us, explaing all the facilities and setting. Her wall hanging, shown in the listing, was given pride of place in the sitting area. The whole space is compact, but very functional, being well thought out, tastefully decorated with more of Baerbel's needlework and collected pieces. The wide deck is a great feature surrounded by native bush close with bird song sound track; great for relaxing or trying to match the song with the bird. There is a nice sandy beach nearby.

    John2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Barbel's place really is the perfect place to relax and enjoy nature - you could spend hours, days, weeks admiring the view and wildlife.... As other people have mentioned, the roads all around are gravel but fine if you are confident/have a suitable vehicle. The eco-village itself was very welcoming and we loved hiking to the falls, a really special place. Be sure to get your food supplies before you arrive, as the nearest shop is around 30 mins drive away. Little bay beach is a beautiful spot 10/15 minutes drive and there are some great walks nearby too - Barbel is always happy to advise should you have any questions - her house is just next door. Thank you for a lovely rejuvenating stay!

    Sarah2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • A truly wonderful experience. Isolated but in a very positive way. the accommodation was super - stylish, clean and so lovely. Barbel is a warm and friendly host. I would love to go back!

    Annette2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Barbel’s place is a hidden gem in the Coromandel forest/jungle. Communication from start to finish has been excellent and Barbel was more than accommodating when we arrived. The drive to Barbel’s is absolutely stunning. The drive from Colville is all on a dirt track road. We rented a 4x4 so it was an easy task for us but I would imagine it would be more difficult for a small hatchback or big camper-van. Beach is only 5 minutes away and it’s literally paradise. We’d recommend going to the “Little Bay Beach” as there we plenty of overhanging trees to get some shade. We highly recommend Barbels AirBnb.

    Rhys2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • The Beetles wrote a song about the Long and winding road....it could have been about any road in NZ, but particularly the road to Waikawau. But, it was totally worth it! It did take nearly four hours with only a couple short stops from Auckland Airport (Google predicted three). Once there you could be a thousand miles from anywhere. Barbel's house is right next door, so while it's not remote, Barbel certainly was discreet and we only interacted when it suited, at which point she was great company. Definitely avail yourself of Barbel's cooking....unless you intend to self cater (which we did for breakfast and lunch).....the nearest alternative source of food is an hour away in Coromandel! And why wouldn't you plan to have dinner provided for you when you get back from a long walk or afternoon at the beach....home grown and home cooked - delicious. The place to go if you want peace and quiet without being totally isolated. Already looking forward to a return visit!

    Simeon2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Barbel place is a unique piece of paradise. The little house is clean and tidy with marvellous artwork made by her. The surroundings are beautiful, so quiet and calm. There are a lot of good walking track and beach nearby. Barbel was a great host, she is very kind and heart warm. I can recommend this place to everybody.

    Krisztina2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Barbel warmly welcomes you to her world , her colourful home is vibrant and unique and she has created and special place for her guests. I loved Barbels garden and enjoyed her company her much ... she spoilt us making a delicious Thia curry and German plum cake which we devoured sitting outdoors with our son and his girlfriend... we found plums were left out for us and Barbel made us special coffee.. she is so easy to be around and sparkles a vitality for life . Compost toilets are part of staying there and are managed well . Living there has its challenges and we respect the gentle guidance we were given around water consumption and keeping that environment special .. our thanks Monica Martin and Claire x

Lie in the bed and wake up to the view out over our park like grounds in Kikowhakarere Bay, our Lithuanian Pods are an affordable option. This is for a standard version with a built in double bed (not ideal for TALL people!) You have your own balcony to relax in the sun, and listen to the native birds around our Holiday park. Only a short stroll to Shelly Beach from your deck where you can swim at high tide or at low tide do the Kauri Tree walk. Then see the amazing sunsets
Use of communal facilities: kitchen, toilets, showers and washing machines ($4 per wash/dry) a few minutes walk away from your private pod.
Our beachside location is only a 5-minutes drive north of Coromandel’s township which has great cafes, restaurants and shops.
  • Absolutely loved this Airbnb and have already recommended to friends visiting the area! I was a bit apprehensive about the size of the bed beforehand as my partner is 6”5 but we were both able to sleep very comfortably. The location is fabulous as it is right on the beach and the sunset was stunning. The cottage was spotless and there were some lovely touches as well as a TV and fridge. We really regretted not staying another night. Can’t recommend this spot enough!

  • We particularly loved the farm view and setting. The retro style caravan had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. It was really cosy relaxing in the caravan that was attractively furnished - soft throws and ample cushions on the couches were much appreciated! Brilliant shower just a few steps away in an adjacent building - decorative lights hung about outside made it easy to navigate to the bathroom after dark! Tellic quick to respond to queries. Would definitely stay again and recommend. Thank you!

  • Loved staying in the caravan, we watched the cows for hours!

  • Such a nice little gem tucked away in the mountains. Spacious space, very clean and well kept, excellent location, good WiFi. Highly recommend staying!

  • Its really a beautiful place by a farm. The view at night is so spectacular as you see the stars against the black skies. In the morning u have the most beautiful view of the farm & mountain landscapes. Wished we stayed a little longer. The drive is kind of windy but worth the trip about 25min from the Coromandel town.

    Stephanie2019-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous location, with breathtaking views! Spacious caravan with a really comfy double bed and two very comfy bunkbeds. There are cooking facilities inside (oven, hobs, microwave) and a bbq and picnic bench outside. The facilities (shower, toilet, washing machine/dryer) are just behind the caravan that are shared with campers, they are very modern and clean. Wifi is a good strength if you need it, but there is a big folder with loads of information on walks and things to do in the area which was really handy and a lovely touch. We thoroughly enjoyed our few nights here and wish we could have stayed longer! Highly recommend it for people who enjoy the countryside!

  • Julie iz very helpful in giving local tips, awesome place very clean and tidy, and close to town, would definitely recommend

    Aissa Oliva2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location for a weekend of R & R. The decking, native forest and babbling stream make for a very tranquil space. Fencing and solid gates make it secure and safe. Julie and BG have taken kiwi ingenuity and added class. The bathroom far exceeded my expectations. I particularly loved having the radio, and watching the kereru falling out of the puriri tree. Thank you for a genuine, welcoming, super comfortable and restful stay.

    Melody2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Julie's little garden shed was perfect! Everything you need as a traveler. In the middle of nature, priceless! We quickly made friends with the camping toilet. Really great to have your own bathroom right next door!

    Pia2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Quite different to what we usually stay in but nevertheless had a great stay. Studio was exceptionally clean, tidy eith a very comfy bed. As mentioned shower and toilet are right next door and toilet is 'camping style', I believe. This, however, is not an issue as it is very clean, does not smell and is emptied from outside every day. It's a reasonably easy stroll into the town centre (about 2 kms) and there are some nice restaurants in town.

    Shirley2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Julie and Barry's Cabin was a lovely place to chill and enjoy the Coromandel. They have us some excellent local tips on what to do in the area. The place was clean, communication was clear and quick when we had any extra things to discuss. Would recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area.

    Carl2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Was a happy stay, place very clean and as advertised. Would happily stay again. So long as you appreciate that it is 'glamping' then I think you can be happy with what you get.

    Hugo2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was very nice. Julies host is very comfortable and clean. It is a little bit like camping but comfortable like a house with microwave, water kettle and tasty coffee :-) It was a great time for us and a very close to the famous Coromandel railway. I would like to recommend Julies host to others. Very nice days!

    Andrew2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing!!! Not only was the little cabin super cool, it had a ton of quaint and thoughtful touches. It really was a lovely little space. Dawn was fabulous in every way. She was immediately warm and friendly, enthusiastically showing us our new space. She recommended amazing locations in the Cormandel area, two of which led to some of our best experiences in New Zealand. Our stay was so excellent that both my wife and I wanted to quit our jobs and immediately move in full time! We can’t recommend the space enough, definitely a highlight of our New Zealand trip.

    Trevor2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Dawn and Justin have created such a charming, comfortable and welcoming spot. Dawn’s creative touches make the place very special. We particularly liked the open fire pit and bar space. They were generous in inviting us to pick delicious apples, plums and tomatoes from their orchard and garden. A sweet spot to explore the Coromandel area.

  • Great bach in a beautiful part of NZ. Windy roads to get there but worth it for the views and peace. The bach is well set up with some lovely welcome gifts! We had a great few days.

    Sorcha2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The listing is accurate - Paradise on the hill. Absolutely wonderful...all we had hoped for. The peace; the views; the delightful house; Little Bay with the big heart; the night sky; the biirdlife; and the welcoming and generous hosts., Chris and Wendy. Our grandchildren really really loved it. Thank you.

  • A beautiful home with lots of lovely little touches that add to the total experience. The hosts were very kind and happy to be help as much as they could, including when we had a flat tyre! Highly recommend the home and hosts. Be prepared for the gravel roads and practice caution when driving.

    Rebecca2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, super quiet & peaceful. Had loads of fun. Highly recommended.

    Tim2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cabin with beautiful views. The nearby beach is amazing (Little Bay I think) which is just as well because it’s quite a drive over winding gravel road to get to Coromandel Town and further beaches. Great little touches like chocolate truffles and wine on arrival, and great basics in the kitchen like oil/spices etc too.

    Aislinn2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Peace and tranquility in the Coromandel. It is a beautiful house, in a beautiful location, with an owner who left us some really thoughtful touches.

    Luke2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely and unreservedly recommendable. Fully equipped kitchen. Quick response from the host. The pictures are already extremely inviting and yet it blew us away on site. With the view of the sea and the deep green forests, you can hardly believe that there are more than 3 other houses in the area. The approach via Thames and Coromandel was already an experience, absolutely because you have supplies - once in the accommodation, you really can hardly leave them.

  • Such a peaceful place to stay. Robyn’s place is a nearly new studio which is tastefully appointed and is very comfortable. It has a delightful rural outlook but is just a short walk to the shops and places to eat in Coromandel town. Robyn greeted us, showed us the place and was a very friendly host without being intrusive. She even shared some of the produce from her vegetable garden with us. We will definitely stay there again and can strongly recommend it.

It’s fitted with everything you would need, lovely shower and toilet facilities and the Clou is the bathtub outside, big queen bed and a perfect little kitchen and a deck where we sat and enjoyed our before dinner drinks. All in all we highly recommend you to visit and meet Robyn, who is also a very gifted artist. Jürg and Jane Chresta, Switzerland

  • Viv, Your Cabin was a very sparkling clean place we cannot believe the view this cabin has for a fair price as well. This Cabin Viv told us it was made from 85% Recycled material but we cannot believe that it was since the craftsmanship of the whole place was well thought out from the windows, doors and sinks everything was robust and perfect for our stay. Also most importantly, You are an amazing host. Very knowledgeable and honoured to meet a 5th generation kiwi. As well as your warm welcome and fast response was impeccable. 10/10 5 Star Excellent A must stay. Many Thanks, Chris+Lorretta

It really felt like we were in a tree house! The beds were very comfortable and the linen and comforters were soft and cozy. Genevieve and her father Ray were both very friendly and welcoming. We had a wonderful chat with them both and learned a little bit about the interesting history of the tree house. Ray provided us with tips on places to visit and activities to do in the surrounding area. We would definitely recommend this place to our friends and family.

Self-contained studio at Driving Creek, on the outskirts of Coromandel Town. Perfect for two people with its comfy queen-sized bed, it also has a sofa bed for two children or another adult. There is a small kitchen area with microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge freezer, electric wok and toasted sandwich maker. The shower room with toilet is for your exclusive use. The studio has a barbecue and outdoor seating area with views of the orchard, paddocks and Coromandel Ranges.
We share our home at Driving Creek with Millie, our lovely and very friendly old dog, plus kune kune pigs Ruby and Alice, and six free range chickens - Ginger, Bunty, Babs, Claudette, Marie-France and Michelle. All of our animals are super friendly and inquisitive - once met never forgotten!
We are right across the road from the famous Driving Creek Railway and Pottery, founded by celebrated New Zealand potter Barry Brickell, and definitely worth a visit. The new zip-line is a fantastic attraction - a tree top view of the gorgeous Coromandel (and our house!)

  • Really good place to explore Coromandel ! And it's so a pleasure to speak with Roz, really interesting conversation !

    Florent2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Roz for having us, we enjoyed our stay - Roz was so welcoming and made us feel at home. Was lovely having breakfast on the balcony with the amazing view. She also gave us lots of ideas and recommendations for places to visit in the area and was happy for us to join her, would love to stay with you again!

    Sarah2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Rosamond's place was really nice, at a very convinient location with a beautiful view from the balcony where we could have our breakfast. More than the place, Rosamonde 's hospitality was probably the best I had seen in an airbnb, providing breakfast and tea/coffee, being available for a chat and offering us to show us some closeby walks. All of this while totally respecting our privacy. Really nice place and host :)

    Romane2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Rosamonde is a superhost! She took very good care of us, we felt like home. We really appreciated her recommendation, tour around and great chat!

    Markéta2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful place hosted by a charming and gracious host. Not only was the place itself in a fabulous place but Rosamonde is a kind and fun host full of useful local knowledge.

    Tim2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • I absolutely loved this place!! If I could have stayed longer, I would have! Roz is a lovely person! The view is spectacular and the bed is very comfy!! Don't let the lack of reviews keep you from looking into this place. It's new to Airbnb and Roz travels as well so it hasn't been available as much as others you may see. But trust, this is an awesome place to stay!!

    Leailia2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Rosamonde was an outstanding host. First, the place is very well located, perfect to relax and enjoy the beauty of Coromandel. Rosamonde has a lot of nice experiences to share and it was very good to have a good conversation with her about that. Also, good breakfast to energize you for the rest of the day. Really recommend her!

Only a short drive from Coromandel Town, which is bustling with cafes, pubs, shops and amenities. It has amazing views , the ocean is literally at your doorstop, it's super quiet, the boat ramp is a few metres down the road, handy to great fishing spots - mussel farms are only a short boat ride, safe harbour for water activities - kayaks available free for your use, but life-jackets are not supplied and need to worn at all times.
The Studio Apartment consists of one room which has one x Queen size bed, one x single bunks, dining table and chairs, 2 seater couch plus TV/DVD player (with freeview ) there is a seperate galley kitchen (elements, microwave, fridge, cutlery etc) plus a separate bathroom (shower, toilet, basin). It also has a deck which overlooks the harbour. Please note this property does not have WIFI Linen (sheets and towels) are included, plus there is a BBQ which guests can use and a filleting bench in case you're lucky enough to catch some fish. Please note there are kayaks which are free to use, however life jackets aren't included.
  • A small place for a family of 4 but it was well laid out and very good value. Great having a separate kitchen and bathroom. Amazing location!

    Trevor2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time here, it's a beautiful spot and they have equipped the bach with everything you need, even down to shampoo (which isn't that common in other Airbnbs from my experience). Communication was quick and very friendly, Tina genuinely cared that we were enjoying ourselves. Would definitely recommend!

    Louise2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • It was a pleasure to meet Tina and her husband. Thank you so much for your kindness and hospitality. The home is just perfect, cosy and really clean. The landscapes are breathtaking !!

The room was more than sufficient for a solo traveller like me but it will also work great for family with kids. The kitchen was also well equipped. Barry and Tina were really accommodating hosts and very responsive. :)

Check in was easy and the flat was a 5 minute drive to restaurants. Jeff was friendly and had two lovely dogs who kept us company when we were outside! I would really recommend this place to anyone visiting the national park!

  • We really enjoyed Jeff‘s hospitality and the excellent networking with guests from all over the world in his garden. Our self-contained cottage was very well equipped and the kitchen was the best we ever had - even the fridge was stocked up!!! As written in Jeff’s description he has two friendly boarder collies who love to make new friends so you should not mind having them around in the garden. Make sure not to miss Waterworks - it’s great fun even if you are not travelling with kids.

The view is truely spectacular and you have access to a very special little beach just moments away where we enjoyed a wonderful swim. Thanks very much for a really lovely stay!

  • Awesome location with very friendly hosts. Highly recommend this place to stay.

    Jill2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • This was a lovely spot! The outdoor common areas included a full outdoor kitchen, swimming pool, and multiple seating areas situated in such a way as to take advantage of views, shade, breeze and sunshine. The bed was moderately comfortable, and the bedroom had a door that opened directly onto the patio. My only (very minor) constructive feedback is that the windows do not have screens, so the mosquitos and flys can get in.

    Kyla2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great hosts, great views, spend a lot of time outside enjoying the view and sunsets as we were lucky with the weather. Local, seasonal fruits was really nice. Sink in the bathroom was a bit too small. Need insect repellent , if want to stay outside after the sunset.

    Diana2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

My cottage is close to Coromandel's arts scene, restaurants, pubs, shops, attractions and coastal views. You’ll love my cosy Coromandel accommodation as the space surrounding the freestanding rustic cottage affords total privacy in a beautiful orchard garden displaying a lovely rural ambiance. There's also a free carport for car/boat only 1 km from the town centre. My homely retreat is ideal for couples, cyclists, solo travellers, hikers, fishermen or anyone celebrating a special anniversary.
The secluded two room original Gold Prospector's cabin-cottage is completely separate from the hosts main house, and is screened off with olive bushes and trees. Inside you'll find a comfortable lounge and kitchenette and a separate double bedroom. The small undercover deck leads to a short outdoor path to a separate annex with hot-water shower and bathroom sink on town water with a flush toilet. Outside the cottage you'll find a bench table with seating and a BBQ including a gas ring. Also ask about the host's separate, beautifully appointed, antiquity filled house, that can be group booked offering three queen bedrooms housing six people with two full bathrooms.
Our cottage is in a sunny private garden and orchard backing onto private pastures below bush clad hills.

  • Hidden treasure

    James2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We spent one week as a family with little children at Richard’s place; what a quality time we had! Rings Beach is a treasure and Richard’s place is the key to it. Because it is a bit secluded (end of the road), there aren’t many people who pass by. We already miss the great and welcoming neighbors and the sound of the waves. If we come back to New Zealand, this place is the first place we would go back to (and stay a bit longer).

A quiet peaceful creekside cabin, Ideal for a couple and a child or backpackers. The cabin has 1 double bed and a single bed. The bathroom and kitchen are separate buildings but only about 10 meters from the cabin. Access to the creek where cooling off is highly recommended. There is space to park and hose your boat. Walking distance to Coromandel township. Bedding and towels are included.
the property gets plenty of sun and also has a lot of fruit trees for shade. The steam usually has a dam and is a lovely spot to cool off. The lawn is flat and the scenery is pleasant. the space is situated in our backyard however we use the front yard. The entire backyard is reserved for our guests. There is also a path down to the swimming hole.
walking distance to town. feels rural. surrounded by trees and bush with a stream flowing down one side of the property.

  • Tranquil Creek is a great stay for couples. Set in lovely garden and near a creek which is nice to swim in or sit by. The bathroom is attached to the kitchen cabin, separate to the bedroom which is ok, bit inconvenient at night and bit unexpected from the photos. The kitchen is great. Lovely hosts, clean and practical rooms.

A place for more suited for a leisurely stay in the lush surrounds than a quick drive by on your way elsewhere.

    Kylie2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice hosts!

  • This place is so peaceful, when you sit in front of your tiny house you hear the sound of the creek streaming. Rhonda and Shawx are a friendly couple. If you like a quiet place to stay and do like tiny living you would go for this accomodation.

The cabin is well insulated with a fuel heater and heated towel rail for the cooler months. It is one minutes walk to the local cafe and fully licensed pizza restaurant where you can buy locally produced fresh food and to the diary where you can buy basic foods and enormous icecreams.

Local activities include fishing, horse trekking, water sports, golf, tennis or visit the local art studios. • We enjoyed our stay, great location in town and on the Coromandel. Easy day access to sights in both directions to Coromandel Town and Whitianga. Great for two people! Nice modern kitchen. Loved the outdoor shower, the saloon doors gave me the idea to put them on the outdoor shower at our cabin in Canada. Thanks

    Andrew2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is so well equipped, clean and spacious, you will want for no comfort. The location is just fabulous - walk down the driveway and you are at Luke's Kitchen, the wildly popular pizza restaurant and bar that seems to be open all day and evening, with Kuaotunu Beach and estuary right across the road. Not to mention the best ever ice-cream parlour (in the well-stocked general store) next to Luke's Kitchen. Central to lots of beaches on the Coromandel Peninsula and a nice quiet, small settlement that doesn't feel like part of a bit city, as other beaches on the Peninsula do.

  • You will love Nicki’s cabin and the help she will give you on what to do and where to go. The village of Kuaotunu is scenic with great views of the Pacific. There is a restaurant, cafe and general Store. The General Store has great fish and chips and ice cream! You will not regret booking a day with Nicki. We have so many good memories! Thanks, Nicki!

  • The perfect spot - everywhere was easy to get to from here. We had a fabulous day popping to all the wee beaches along this coast. The local vibe in this wee village was friendly and fun. Loved it - and such great value for money. Cabin was ideal.

  • The Dutchman Inn is a beautiful, rustic, off grid hideaway which is ideally located for an adventure holiday on the Coromandel Peninsula. We stayed 5 nights and would not hesitate to return when in the area again.

  • Secluded cabin in a wonderful location. Very, very quiet.

    Tony2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking to just straight kick back and enjoy being in the serenity of nature then this is your place. The property the cabin is on is just wonderful, and if you are reading the other reviews and see the one that getting to the cabin was impossible then just ignore that. The only reason you could have trouble getting there is if you were driving a Lamborghini, which if you were You are probably not staying here hah. Water levels were low so we did have some electrical issues but sorted them out in the end.

    Justin2020-02-11T00:00:00Z

  • A delightful house with spectacular views over the Coromandel harbour. Judith is a very helpful host. Will most certainly stay in the future.

    Mike2020-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • Judith is a great communicator, has a lovely home which is tastefully appointed, up to date magazines, lovely linens and comfortable beds. She makes an extra effort. You have all you need to cook to one's delight and the views are stupendous. Immaculately clean. A return spot.

  • A great place to stay

    John2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • House with amazing views! We enjoyed our stay very much. Super clean and Judith was nice enough to provide homemade bread as well. Loved our time here, definitely a great getaway location. One thing was the water was limited so we felt anxious whenever we used water. And there was no hair shampoo as well. Other than that it’s been a perfect stay, everything was great!

    Julie2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • OMG we have found the very best place to stay in Coromandel! When we came down the drive we knew we would love this place and we were not disappointed. The place is immaculate inside and out and the views are to die for. Such a blessing to find such wonderful value so close to Auckland.. we will be back!

    Jocelyn2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing house with breathtaking views plenty of room to park a boat host made everything so easy. I fully recommend this house

    Ashley2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place Taid View is. The views in the photos don't do it justice, we sat outside most of the day and night watching the world go by. We had intentions of doing a day trip, but never got around to it, as we stayed put the whole time as it is so relaxing. The house was super clean and immaculate, great having four bedrooms and the beds were comfy. Would absolutely go back in a heart beat, would be great anytime of the year. It was far too warm for the fire, but can imagine in the winter how cozy it would be.

We've converted a water tank into a cosy guest room. It's ideal for those wanting a camping experience without having to pitch a tent. A real kiwi 'off grid' experience so... NO POWER. The basic luxuries include clean linen, hot shower, solar lights and a gas cooker. Bring your power bank if you can't go without your cell phone! Escape the city life... experience a remote, slice of nature with panoramic sea views. Great affordable accommodation... ideal for couples or solo adventurers.
Our property overlooks the idyllic Whangapoua Beach and off-shore islands. It is within walking distance to the world famous New Chum Beach. The site has a composting toilet, hot shower, basic cooking facilities and spring water. There is NO electricity. Please note this means no fridge and no power outlets so.... you will need non-perishable food or a cooler box. We also suggest you have your own USB car charger / power banks for cell phones etc as there is nowhere to plug in! Or you could tune out, turn off the technology and sit back and enjoy nature at it's finest. Our accommodation is basic, clean, cosy and unique - who else has slept in a water tank? The highlight being an amazing view and the starry nights.
Whangapoua Beach – white sand, clear water, world renowned surf (in the right winds), a nice lagoon and a stunning harbour full of fish. There are a number of restaurants and takeaways in Coromandel Town and in Kuaotunu there is the world famous 'Luke’s Kitchen'. Please note these are all at least 15 minutes drive from us.
  • Lance and Michelle have created a uniquely special place - gone are the attention-grabbing gimmicks of modern stays - replaced instead with rustic and childlike charm. We stayed for four nights and had everything we needed: clean linen, hot shower, a spectacular view (including an amazing sunrise all to yourself), lots of space to cook and chat, amazing beaches on the doorstep, tips on secret spots, super-responsive hosts, and real rest. Too good to miss.

    Josiah2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle and Lance’s is the perfect cozy getaway. We spent a few nights with them as a break during our camping road trip and really enjoyed our stay. Such a unique design, beautiful views, and they’ve done a great job preparing the space to be comfortable for guests with everything that you need to use in the kitchen. It’s a quiet beach town with some lovely nearby walks that Michelle recommended.

Lie in the bed and wake up to the view out over Kikowhakarere Bay, our beachside Lithuanian Pods are an affordable option. This is for a deluxe pod. You have your own private balcony to relax in the sun, and listen to the native birds around our park. Only a short stroll to Shelly Beach from your deck where you can swim at high tide or at low tide do a Kauri Tree walk. As sun goes down watch amazing sunsets from your pod. Located within my holiday park
