Places to stay in Tompkins County
Charming two-story guest cottage situated in the garden of an historic train station (ca.1830) located at the southeast corner of Cayuga Lake. I am looking for a subletter (or multiple subletters) from approximately Nov 1, 2020 to April (or possibly May) 1, 2020. $1050 per month includes everything. Message me for details.
Perfect as a writers retreat, for faculty, grads or parents visiting one of the universities, as a base of operations for outdoorsy adventuring or touring the Finger Lakes wine country - and especially for those with a penchant for historic architecture (American folk) and charming romantic spaces. Cottage has a bedroom upstairs with views of the lake, a lounge downstairs, and a bathroom. There's a mini fridge, coffee maker, tea kettle and toaster, and a tv for playing dvds, but no television service or cable. There is a ladder to get to the bedroom of the cottage. This is not ideal for those with bad knees, etc. or fear of climbing ladders. (See a picture of it in my photo album section.) There is a cat who lives on the property, he is technically not allowed in the cottage, but I know that guests sneak him over there occasionally because he's so charming - therefore, if you are highly allergic, please take that into consideration. History: The property was built ca. 1830 where it fulfilled the function of lighthouse. It was later transformed into a switchback to the railroad until sometime in the 1930s when it became a residential space. From the early sixties to the early '90s the buildings were abandoned and fell into ruin. The property was rescued from a derelict state by British visual artist Paul Chambers. From 1992 to 2002, Chambers 'recycled' the site into a work of living sculpture, and in 2007 Wylie purchased the property, which she considers to be a work of art, and maintains it in accordance with Chambers’ vision.
Close proximity to Stewart Park, the East Shore swimming beach, the Ithaca Farmer's Market, and the Cayuga Waterfront Trail.
  • An idyllic little spot with a great host!

  • It was mine and my wife’s anniversary and we were looking for a cozy type of cottage to stay in last minute. Wylie responded right away to get us all checked in with lights and heat turned on before we got there. It was exactly what we hoped for. Rustic, artsy, bohemian chic type style with an awesome collection of books to sit in the nook upstairs with and just lounge! We loved EVERYTHING about it! Very charming, simple and sweet. Thanks Wylie we will defiantly be coming back !

    Daniel2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • Unique cottage. A bit drafty and rustic as advertised, lots of blankets to cozy up with.

    Sienna2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Wylie’s place was perfect for our quick trip through Ithaca. Very close to downtown, the location was perfect. The bathroom was great and bed comfortable. Wylie was very responsive and check in was simple.

  • Be prepared to have a cozy and fulfilling stay at Wylie's cottage. It is both adorable and functional. It felt like I rented a house for the weekend! You wont regret your stay.

    Vito2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Wylie’s place was so cozy and unique, my friend and I had a great experience staying at Wylie’s cottage. Wylie was fast to reply, prior our arrival, she had the heat turned on for us so it was warm when we got there. Her place is about 5 min drive from town and 15-20 min drive to most scenic areas. Wylie was very thoughtful and had a folder of recommendation of nearly everything we wanted to know. Overall we had a amazing experience staying at her place, we would definitely be coming back here again next year in the spring/summer!

  • This was our second time staying at Sarah's place, and she couldn't have been better as a host. We ended up unexpectedly having to book only the day before we arrived, but nevertheless Sarah was more than happy to host at short notice. Sarah was very quick to respond to our request, and very responsive as we worked out arrangements. The space is huge, very comfortable, and was warm despite the cold weather. If we are ever in need of accommodation in Ithaca again, Sarah's will be our first choice!

The apartment is fully furnished with a living room/dining room, bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom. There is a private entrance accessible by outdoor stairs. We have easy access to downtown Ithaca and off-street parking for one car in our lot across the street. Entry to the apartment requires descending a flight of stairs (see photos). Our family lives upstairs and we can easily respond to any issues that may arise.
  • This apartment was so perfect, I almost wish I could’ve stayed more than one night! It was spotlessly clean, cozy, and had more room then we knew what to do with. Perfect location on a quiet street. I would absolutely recommend this stay for anyone visiting Ithaca!

Surrounded by trees and the sound of Six Mile Creek, and a 7 minute walk from the Commons. This apt is in a hidden paradise in Ithaca. 1920s house with lots of character. Custom woodwork. Equipped for long and short stays. Walk to Cornell in 25 min.
Everyone that has ever taken a walk to 1st dam knows the glory of Giles St, and many remember this house in particular. The views and backyard are stunning. The custom woodwork and small touches in the Urban Cabin showcase the history of the area. It's a special place all around.
If you take a left on the street when you leave the house you can walk to the wildflower preserve and first dam in less than 10 minutes. It is really beautiful. You can see first dam from the bridge or take the steep path to the left before you reach the bridge. There is a big gate, but it is public. Bring a camera and wear good shoes. The wildflower preserve is a nice walk in the woods. Cross over the bridge and take a right down a paved hill. If you take a right on the street when you leave the house you can cross over the footbridge and go downhill on E State St to get to the Commons. It is quieter not to take the bridge. You can just walk right down Giles / Hudson Street and take a right at the end. If you're going to Cornell, our favorite path is over the footbridge, straight (slight left) on Ferris Place, at the end of Ferris Place go a little downhill to the traffic light on the intersection of Stewart Ave and E State Street. Cross over to Stewart Ave and walk about 5 minutes until you see Campus Road going uphill to your right. Cross over onto Campus Road and head uphill. Take the path on Libe Slope by the 350 year old oak tree. There's a photo of it in the Urban Cabin. It is a special tree. Sage Chapel is beautiful (see if the crypt is open in the back near the grand pipe organ), as well as the pitched tiles on the roof of Olin Library (take the stairs to the left of the library entrance and toss rocks on them to make music), the AD White reading room in Uris Library (just ask the person at the desk when you enter). Cornell is a great place to walk around. Go all the way to the Ag Quad to eat at Manndible in Mann Library and get a feel for the whole campus. Favorite happy hour: Viva Taqueria (M-F 4-6pm, $2 drafts and an outstanding tequila selection) Favorite place to have a fancy cocktail: The Argos (closes at 10pm) Favorite places to have a fancy meal: Mia's (Asian fusion on the Commons), Just a Taste (tapas just off the Commons) and Gola Osteria (classy Italian right across the footbridge. Take a right up the cobblestone path, and get buzzed in at the doors of the building nearest to the big fish statue) Favorite places for BYOB dining: Sticky Rice (closed on Mondays and only open for dinner), Tamarind (far if you're walking) Favorite places to shake our booties late night: Lot 10 (on the far end of the Commons), and The Range (on the Commons). Favorite place to get coffee: Ithaca Coffee Company (7 min walk, also has delicious beer on tap). Unique places to have tea and watch the locals: Oasis Co-op (just off the Commons) Favorite places for cheaper meals: Gorgers (messy flat bread sandwiches), Asia Cuisine (sushi, Korean, delicious), Viva Taqueria (best after a couple margaritas), Four Seasons (Korean in Collegetown), Waffle Frolic (on the Commons. Paninis! Yum!) Brunch spots: The Carriage House (10 min walk), Northstar (lovely 25 min walk through Fall Creek), Purity Ice Cream (far if you're walking, but they even have tofu scramble with kale), Cafe Dewitt (just off the Commons), Ithaca Bakery (their coffee's not great, but their sandwiches are delicious)
  • This is an amazing location as a base to explore Ithica by foot. It's "gorgeous".

    Michael2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Jonah and Alicia’s apartment is lovely, well-equipped and comfortable. It is in a beautiful spot on the gorge. Convenient for both the Commons and Cornell’s campus. Tea and oatmeal, and milk in the fridge, were nice touches!

    Ginny2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay!

    Kyle2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Cool place to stay in Ithaca!

    Daniel2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most perfect winter getaway at the Urban Cabin! We spent as much time in the space as we did exploring Ithaca! We really appreciated the feeling of being in nature while being only a few minutes from the commons by foot. The space is well thought out with everything you might need to feel at home during your stay!

    Rebecca2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful location and charming space indoors and out!

    Kristin2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • This spot was exactly as the description and pictures showed. Easy walking distance to all the downtown commons stuff but, felt secluded at the same time. Super quiet slept like a baby.

    Trevor2020-01-19T00:00:00Z

More than a place to sleep! Be sure to click on the “read more” button. This tiny village of Victorian buildings all built and loved by Karen are off the grid (electric free) and captivating. Whether you are visiting, camping, or staying in a cabin (not this site). You'll be smiling! Note: this particular site is a camping site not one of my many tiny homes.
Karenville is now closed for the winter season. You are free to look and dream of spring in Karenville when everything will once again be magical. THIS IS AN INFORMATION SITE, NOT NECESSARILY AN OVERNIGHT SITE. (But it could be) Please read! Many people want to know, "What is Karenville?" And “can I just day visit?” So I created this site! Karenville is a tiny Victorian village that Karen built. To see and TO BOOK one of the many overnight possibilities in Karenville scroll to bottom If you request to book THIS site, I will accept your booking and assume you have read and want this site as a DAY TIME VISIT or A CAMPING SITE and will assume you have your own camping gear. (Airbnb may say this is a "room". They do not have a "slot" for camping or visiting) I built Karenville just for my own fun. I built a church, cafe, hotel, and many tiny "homes". I put it on Airbnb as a joke. With no electric or running water, or WiFi why would anyone come! I now realize that making a connection with the land and animals where we live is what people are missing and craving in our society. In a few short years we have had people from all over the world and many different cultures. Karenville has not only changed our lives but the lives of many who visit. Read the over 800 amazing reviews. Look on Instagram and see my guests wonderful pictures. My guests say we do not have words in our language to describe what Karenville truly is. I think this is true. Karenville is also home to a Guinea pig rescue and adoption center. Please come and enjoy our piggies and maybe even take one home with you. Links to Karenville's different sites Each tiny home in Karenville must have a different individual site according to Airbnb. Find the sites below. You can also see them in the pictures on this site. Village of Karenville sites are all Electric free (total off grid) with rain/well water only and unconventional hot showers. All bedding included unless otherwise noted. There is also a one time $5-15 check in fee to encourage multiple day bookings. A few of my sites that are priced low are marked up to $50 on Wednesdays so I’m not home bound for less than that. If you book the day before and want to also stay on wed. just ask and I will lower the price for you. Or overnight? Cabins or camping? THIS IS AN INFORMATION SITE, NOT NECESSARILY AN OVERNIGHT SITE. Please read! IF YOU BOOK THIS SITE, it will be booked as a camping site only. Also of note; Karenville cafe and cooking? Yes there are cooking facilities in Karenville. We have a well equipped indoor cooking area as well as a nearby undercover outdoor area. No need to bring pots, pans, dishes, eating utensils, etc. unless you just want to. We have well stocked food shelves as well (just leave a donation), but if you plan to cook in Karenville it is best to bring your own favorite foods. And remember Karenville is electric free so therefore no refrigerators. However most of the year the whole outdoors is refrigerated, otherwise you might like to bring your own cooler. Karenville Shower and Outhouse. In Karenville we use water from the well or rain barrels. This is where you will get water for your shower (or for anything you might use water for). At the well there is a one hundred year old hand pump with directions for use. After you retrieve your water you then heat it on one of the two cookstove in Karenville. When the water is at your desired temperature you take this bucket of warm water to one of the two shower houses. Lastly you pour the water into the shower bucket to enjoy a somewhat normal 5 minute shower. The outhouse in Karenville is in a building we call the silo. Some of our guests say it is their favorite building. It is a clean pleasant smelling composting toilet. After using it, you cover with sawdust. Just outside the "silo" there is a hand washing station, which is a rain barrel with a faucet. LOL It's all very civilized !

This space is actually set up as two separate bedrooms with a living room area in one. There is a double bed in the main bedroom and two twin beds in the living room, which is a huge space. We can add more twin beds to the second bedroom to accommodate more guests- just let us know what works best for your group. This is a peaceful sunny space in our historic home. Original woodwork, hardwood floors, 10’ ceilings, floor to ceiling windows, and a hand carved floor to ceiling mantle with marble hearth are just a few of the lovely features you will be surrounded by in this beautiful apartment. The house is heated with radiators throughout, but there is an electric radiator in this apt if you need added heat in the winter. Just turn it on, and it will heat the whole apt. If you are interested in hosting a party (graduation, wedding, reunion or any other kind of event here), please message me with the details so we can figure out what works best for you and your group. If this apartment is booked during your preferred travel dates, we have other apartments in our house. Please message me if you are interested in staying with us. We would love to have you!

  • We appreciated this space, a spacious nook in a grand Victorian space. The woodwork is quite extraordinary, and the contemporary touches in the master bedroom were aesthetically pleasing. A nice, simple retreat a few minutes walk from downtown. Sarah responds immediately, and is a gracious host.

  • I love staying in this beautiful historical home, with all the sweet touches of Sarah’s loveliness. It’s clean, safe, and cozy. Also, the beds are super comfortable. I feel at home here. <3

  • This house was a treat to stay in. Our dog Siska was very comfortable there, and we felt right at home. It’s got a nice cozy feel to it.

  • The space is really cute and clean. My dog was very comfortable there. The location is perfect!

    Carol2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah and Jeff are fabulous hosts with a great spot for dog owners who want to experience Ithaca. We had a great time and slept great on the wonderful mattresses!

    Brad2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • I love staying here. This is the second year I’ve stayed in Sarah’s space during the holidays and, once again, I had a wonderful time with my dogs. Sarah goes above and beyond to make sure her guests are comfortable and have everything they need. The rooms are spotless; the bedding and bathroom linens are crisp and clean. The location makes it easy to access all parts of downtown Ithaca by car, bike, or on foot. There’s plenty of free street parking.

    Maggie2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • We’ve stayed at Sarah’s place a few times before and, as usual, we loved it! It’s adorable, easy to get to, and close to plenty of stuff in Ithaca. Highly recommended.

Our lower level apartment might be a great choice for you. With your own entrance and off-street parking, you would be within a block of Cornell's beautiful bird sanctuary, the playground and field at Tareyton Park, and the TCAT bus stop which goes through Cornell's campus and then to the Commons downtown, and Ithaca's night life. Shopping and the airport are a five-minute drive. The apartment--and thus our guests--are fully independent, too, so you can enjoy your stay to the fullest.
  • Wonderful place to stay Highly recommend the falls trip

  • As repeat guests, we were delighted to see that Marcus' property only gets nicer as the weather warms. The space is clean and comfortable, and we really appreciated that his house backs up on a beautiful stand of woods, home to many birds and early spring plants. It was lovely to hear all the sounds of spring as we came and went from the apartment!

    Maria2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Marcus’s place was clean, cozy, and charming. Large space with great amenities and lots of local tips. Great host!

Convenient west end location in Ithaca. One parking spot for guest. This house is close to everything. The bedroom is comfortable and spacious. Hosts live upstairs and guests will have their privacy. We are between two roads leading out of Ithaca. The suite is located in the back of the house and there is a moderate amount of traffic noise at times from the back porch.
The entrance to this suite is from the back porch. The parking lot is to the right of the house with a sidewalk leading to the back door. When you enter the space, there is a kitchenette with complimentary water, hot drinks and scones. NEW: Out of concern for the environment, we discontinued providing plastic single/use water bottles and now have a hot/cold water dispenser. Continuing into the bedroom you'll find a queen size bed, a Queen Anne desk, cable TV, a luggage stand, two comfy chairs, a full length mirror and an open closet. The bathroom has all the essentials.
Our Airbnb is located on West Hill in Ithaca. Within walking distance are restaurants, Island Fitness Center, the Inlet with a place to rent kayaks, canoes and paddle boards. We are only a few minutes from Wegmans (America's favorite grocery store!) and many of the big box stores. If "big box" is not your style, it's a 20 minute walk to The Commons where there are many local mom and pop establishments, as well as Moosewood Restaurant of Moosewood cookbook fame. Ithaca has a good bus system and you can catch a bus across the street from our house at 20 minutes before the hour.
  • Great place for my weekend trip Ithaca

    Sean2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Joan and Nelson were so sweet and very accommodating. Their place was comfortable, and very close to all of the spots we like to visit in Ithaca! We would loved our stay, and will be back next time we visit!

    Valerie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • I can't speak highly enough about this place. The room is very special. It is simple and homey and nicely decorated. The bed was very comfortable. The whole room as a nice feel to it. The windows face east so there is a nice view across the valley to Cornell from the bedroom windows. There is a cable television in the room and WiFi, with good and strong connectivity. The bathroom connects right to the bedroom and is spacious and well organized. The shower is big and the water was plenty hot when called for. The other portion of the space is a little 'kitchen' area. There is no cooking stove, but there is kettle for hot water, small refrigerator, microwave, sink, cabinet, etc. The hosts provide tea, coffee, scones, which was a very nice touch. There is heating stove in this area that warms up the whole basement. It hovered around 10 F at night when I was there, but I was warm and comfortable inside. There is private entrance to the space, and although the room connected to the house via a staircase, I felt I had complete privacy. The parking spot is great, and the home is very close to downtown Ithaca - even walkable if you are inclined. Yet, I did feel like I was away from everything when I was there. The house is located on Route 79 but it was very quiet, particularly at night. Joan and Nelson are very nice people and their goodness fills the house. Check-in and check-out were easy. I would definitely stay there again (I miss it in fact) and I recommend it.

  • Absolutely lovely couple. They were very welcoming, but respectful of privacy.

    Melissa2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at Joan and Nelson place very much and would definitely return! Terrific location and very comfortable furnishings! Easy parking and super clean.

    Martin2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Total privacy, cozy space, and great location! Would definitely recommend.

    Benjamin2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Our recent stay was a return visit, which speaks to how much we like Joan's place. We feel very at home there. The room is pleasantly decorated with comfortable furnishings and lots of books on many topics. Importantly the bed is comfortable. We appreciated the private entrance around the back of the house and enjoyed the view across town to the Cornell campus. We hope to stay again next time we visit Ithaca.

    Megan2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice and clean area. Close to organic grocery store and restaurants. People from around the world have stayed and if we return to Ithaca, we will stay again

The guest room is located downstairs, close to the shared bathroom. It offers a comfy full-sized mattress, a personal desk, and reading area perfect for any traveler looking for sanctuary. An LGBTQ household, shared with two incredibly friendly cats. We have a full kitchen to share with you, and a gorgeous, lush backyard right in the heart of historic Fall Creek. A 10 minute walk to downtown/the commons, nestled between Ithaca Falls and Cascadilla Falls. This charming house is not new/modern.
We suggest reading this whole description! I'm a graduate student at Cornell and my partner Kate works at a nonprofit. We are a supportive LGBTQ household with two very friendly cats. We are quiet, warm and fun! We love hosting other people, but we do work out of the house most of the day. The room itself is sweet and comfortable, perfect for a good night's rest to explore beautiful Ithaca. Here are some things you should also know about the space: The door to the guest room is a bit clunky. It has an interior lock, but not an exterior lock. It opens into the TV room, which you are more than welcome to use. We don't have cable but you can hook up your laptop via HDMI cable to screen Netflix etc. The room itself will have a window AC unit, and there will be an additional AC unit in the shared space, but the house itself can get warm during peak summer (mostly August). The house is like a big cottage, incredibly charming but definitely not modern. It was built in the 1800s and has certainly been updated here and there. If you appreciate historic houses, you'll like this one. The sidewalks out front are the original slate, untouched! That being said, the kitchen hasn't had any work done since the 80s probably: though it has everything you would need to make a delicious meal (fridge, stove, sink, counter area), it is, simply put, old! The bathroom is shared. It's updated, but small. The backyard is gorgeous in the summer. We garden, so it is lush, green, and filled with vegetables and herbs. Laying outside in the afternoon sun and reading is definitely one of my favorite activities. We have a fire-pit, and we always have fresh logs for the fire for you. We are a 10 minute walk to beautiful Ithaca Falls, Cascadilla Falls, Little Greenstar Grocer, and the Downtown/Commons area where you can eat and drink at some of the best restaurants in town. Please, ask us for recommendations!
  • Great hosts and a cute, cozy space! The house has a nice location !. Highly recommend!

    Angeliki2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • A really lovely spot to stay. I was allowed to rest after a busy conference and the home is rather charming. The value is surreal. I would definitely recommend.

    Isaac2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The house is old but very cozy in a very safe neighborhood. Less than 15 minutes walk to Ithaca Commons, Cornell University as well as to Ithaca Falls Natural Area. Also, Lisa and Kate are very friendly and kind.

    Chiachi2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great house! So close to the commons. Super value and loved the cats! :)

    Jason2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa's house is cosy but not claustrophobic. We felt very welcome there. If you need ikea-chic it's tge wrong address, this very much is their individual house and it truly felt like staying at a friend's guest room - just what BnB is supposed to be like!

    Cora2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Taking care from the arrival time to local tips, everything is much better than the expectation that too in far away from my native place where I was helpless without their co-operation

    Biplab2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great place just off the Cornell campus. Would definitely recommend for anyone visiting Ithaca. Lisa and Kate are perfect hosts!

    Rahul2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa and Kate were very friendly and they even invited me to the party their were hosting while I was there, in which I met very cool people. The house was very stylish and clean and very well decorated. It is also a very good location in Ithaca. Definitely recommend staying there.

Just 5 mins from downtown & 10 mins from Cornell + the best waterfall in town is a two-story sunny loft with floor-to-ceiling windows, a spiral staircase, 2 patios and a private dock!
Featuring panoramic views on a loft perched high above Cayuga Lake w/access to a private dock, a fully stocked kitchen, & bright living spaces. There's a patio with a hammock for naps after a long travel or to observe the plethora of animals that live in our gardens and trees. Make sure to bring a camera with you! Although the loft faces the sunrise (which is magnificent to watch if you're an early bird), the sky during sunset paints lush salmon colors w/speckles of gold & brushstroked clouds. The owner of the property lives in the unit above the one you'll be staying at. She is a retired former NASA employee, an alumni of Cornell with a degree in Engineering, a certified Transcendental Meditation teacher, tends to her gardens on the property, and takes morning 'strolls' on her vintage rowing boat on the lake. For bookings with 4+night stays, you may book a week-long Transcendental Meditation session where right above your unit, you can learn to meditate; a highly recommended practice by many successful people. In your message, please state your interest. I am a tenant of the apartment and have thoroughly enjoyed staying here for a year now. I know this space intimately & represents a big part of me. I really, really enjoy this space a lot and so will you.
The neighborhood is a family-orientated neighborhood. While many of the lakehouses in the area, including ours, welcome guests and travelers of all kind, the atmosphere is very family friendly and we all collectively work together to maintain the homely feel. We're centrally located: going north is Taughannock Falls, a short 5-minute drive. Another 5 minutes take you to Trumansburg & the beginning of the Finger Lakes wine trails. Going south is a 2 minute drive to Hangar Theatre, Cass Park & Treman Park. Another 3 minutes takes you to downtown. Our neighborhood consists of paddleboarders, kayakers, boaters, sailers, & swimmers. We have a mascot named Jake who takes the form of a black furr-acious cat & likes to meander through the property from time to time as he makes his neighborhood rounds to say hullo to the fellow neighbors. He's not a stray so don't be alarmed. Jake has been trying to scheme his way into the house for years, but he is well-housed and well fed :] He likes to patrol & update himself with the happenings of the neighborhood and its neighbors. In addition, we have many birds, squirrels, chipmunks & plant life that call our property home. Please be respectful to them. You'll likely to see many of the animals scurrying abouts or stopping by to peek in, including a woodpecker you'll likely be hearing during your stay.
  • Place was beautiful and calming. Parking was easy for a road where thats not always the case. Dock view was stunning.

  • Zeke and Kris’s two-story loft was spacious, comfortable, and bright. We travelled by car and enjoyed staying there while attending a weekend event at Cornell. We’d come back.

    Mary2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Zeke and Kris' space is absolutely gorgeous! Great energy and beautiful view!! Will be especially nice in the spring, summer and fall because of Lake and nature surrounding their home. Awesome experience! Very good communicators...excellent lighting...and loved the fireplace.

  • You can tell they’ve taken past reviews into consideration so don’t let the negatives deter you. They’ve added more seating and we weren’t able to see any mold like other reviews mentioned. The place itself was gorgeous with an amazing view. We couldn’t have asked for anything else. Plus the location was perfect. Far away enough that you enjoy the serenity of nature and close enough that there are a lot of delivery options! Would definitely come again when it’s warmer!

    Betsy2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The view is stunning - even better than the photos. It is a nice, comfortable space and an easy drive into Ithaca, which is a lovely little college town. Perfect for our visit!

Everyone welcome! Last-minute/short stays are ok! Sunny 1BR apt on Ithaca's west hill features a queen bed, large windows, a Japanese-style jacuzzi (agility required, see pics), turbo Internet, A/C, and valley views from bedroom. Walk to restaurants, parks, and stores. Cornell is a 10 min drive. This is a private (not shared) apartment. You will be the only one with a key. Note for Cornell graduation - pricing is higher this weekend, but if you book 2 nights, you will get night 3 for free!
The apartment is bright and comfortable, warm in the winter, and cooled by natural breezes or air conditioning in the summer. The great room is for both living and dining and has both high ceilings and tall windows that let in the sun. The beautiful wood-grain-themed bedroom has all the built-ins you'll need and a comfortable queen-sized bed. The galley kitchen features a fridge with a large freezer, a stove, an oven, a microwave, a coffee maker, and a two-basin sink. You have your own separate entrance and bathroom. A washer and dryer are on the premises. The living room has a 32" Samsung HDTV a Samsung DVD player, a couple hundred channels of cable, and a Roku 3 box with free Netflix and HuluPlus streaming. The futon couch in the living room can be folded out into a full-sized bed. There's a shared deck with tables and chairs outside for eating and socializing with a view of Cornell University across the valley. Only two steps up into the apartment! Please note that the Japanese-style jacuzzi tub does require some agility to get into and out of for both baths and showers (see pictures). For the business traveler, the great room table can easily be set up for video-conference meetings and presentations over blazingly fast Internet using the provided HDTV, webcam, and high-end speaker/microphone combo. Other business amenities are also available. The apartment is 400 sq. ft. which is comfortable for two and cozy for four if you like each other. If you need more room, my other Airbnb apartment "Retro-Awesome & Spectacular View" adjoins: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/2665859
The neighborhood is residential, on a hill with beautiful views of Ithaca, Cornell, the Cayuga Inlet, and Cayuga Lake. It's a ten minute walk to parks, shopping, and restaurants.
  • Just outside of the main part of the city. Located on a fairly busy road, but still feels quiet and private. Nice place to stay if you will be out and about in and around Ithaca.

  • This place was perfect for what we were looking for. The patio had a beautiful view of Cornell campus and downtown Ithaca. This place was very clean and had everything we needed. We went hiking a lot and were close to downtown and the trails. The host had detailed instructions for the house and local activities. I would recommend staying here.

  • Kit's place was exactly what we wanted for a relaxing Winter visit to Ithaca. It was a cozy and comfortable place to enjoy a nice snow storm! -Kit got the driveway shoveled right away. Close to the strip malls, commons, and Southside community center.

  • We stayed here for a weekend during the winter. The place was exactly as it was shown in the pictures. The hosts were very quick in responding to any questions that we had. The property was clean, and tidy. The location was very convenient since was very close to CVS and Wegmans. Restaurants are a pretty close drive as well. The neighborhood also had ample amount of available car parking. We hiked at the Watkins glen state park and the Taughannock state park during our stay, and the drive was not very long. Which further speaks to the convenient location. The place is a good value for money and I may consider it again when I visit Ithaca

Lakefront Guest Studio provides excellent views of Cayuga Lake, Cass Park and marinas all from the comfortable interior or private deck. Make use of the lakefront dock and swimming access. We are located at the base of the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail so you can get the full FLX experience!
Response to COVID 19: We as hosts are taking this crisis seriously. All of our units are stand-alone and do not share space with other units. Each unit is sanitized with anti viral cleaning products and all precautions are taken to follow CDC guidelines for cleaning and sanitizing. We provide a cell phone and handwashing station with anti -viral products. We are keeping on top of any recent updates on guidelines and will follow strict protocol involving cleaning and sanitizing. This studio was designed specifically with guests in mind and provides a California King bed (very comfortable) along with dining area and kitchenette. Large en-suite bathroom offers jetted tub, big enough for 2 and a rainfall shower. Enter thru private deck complete with lounge chairs and cafe seating. Beautiful views of the lake especially at dawn and dusk. Kitchenette provides a sink and fridge but no stove. Everything you would need to make coffee is provided including the coffee! Tea, toaster, and microwave also available. The house is built into the cliff side. There is a dock and lakeside available for your use including a variety of kayaks available. The lake front is shared with us, your hosts, or potentially other guests. There are several sets of stairs that you must use to access the apartment and the lake so it's best if you're prepared for that and don't mind. We are located adjacent to the Black Diamond Trail - a 10 mile trail for hiking and biking. We are located a 1 min drive or 5 min walk to Cass Park and Treman Marina and the Ithaca Dog Park as well. We don't mind if you bring your dog and there is a potty spot, but be aware we do have other dogs on site - very friendly but if your dog is not you might want to make other arrangements. Let us know in your booking request if you'll be bringing a dog. There are a few other living units in the property and it's likely we as the hosts will be in residence there as well as other guests in another suite. We are happy to help you find local attractions or talk about your trip and plans while you are here. It's also fine if you like your privacy.
The house is one of the first houses on the West side of the lake. So we are close to Cass Park which has lots of rec trails for running, biking, skating, dog walking etc. Adjacent to Black Diamond Trail. Treman Marina and dog park are a 5min walk. Other lake houses have docks and houses close by so you may or may not see the neighbors.
  • Beautiful studio so close to downtown! Loved waking up to a view of the lake. Everything was clean and cozy; the studio even smelled amazing when we arrived! Jes even provided freshly ground coffee. The hosts live upstairs so there was some noise but they were very considerate. King bed is super comfortable! Would love to stay again during summer.

  • Clean, easy to find, great views, close to everything. We had a great time!

    Alex2019-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I took a few steps into the apartment, looked out at the beautiful lake and then we both said "I wish we could stay forever." The space is exactly as it appears in pictures and yet even better than that. I sent the link to 3 friends while we were still staying there and told them all that they had to come stay. I can only imagine how gorgeous this spot is in the summer- though we plan to find out!

    Meg2019-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • Jes's place was absolutely beautiful. The view, the king size bed, the bathroom, were all amazing. Highly recommend renting from Jes when visiting the area. Perfect location. Perfect space for a weekend getaway.

Inside, the apartment features a full kitchen with a stove, full-sized fridge, microwave, two-bay sink, toaster, coffee-maker, oven and much more!
This cozy apartment features a grand brick fireplace filled with big white candles for your use. Modern, bohemian decor gives the space a cozy eclectic vibe. The main entrance also serves as immediate access to the backyard and lakeview.

Or, swim in the lake, rent kayaks or SUP boards, attend live concerts in the summer, etc!
  • Great place! Comfortable stay with friendly and responsive hosts.

  • Absolutely lovely place in a great location. 15-20 minutes to downtown Ithaca, 15 ish minutes to a bunch of wineries. The apartment is very easy to get to, just off a main road but incredibly quiet and no need for a four wheel drive vehicle to get to it! Beautiful lake views. Would definitely stay again.

  • Kim’s apartment is clean and super cozy. It’s a great getaway that’s located directly on the Cayuga Lake wine trail. Checking in and checking out was a breeze and the communication with Kim was fantastic. It’s definitely a great spot to stay if you are in the Finger Lakes area.

    Terrance2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A very clean, comfortable, and private space just a few minutes from Ithaca. Gorgeous view of the lake. Lots of amenities and an easy check in and check out process.

    Nicolas2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great work "staycation" at Kim and Mike's sweet, lakeside apartment. I had everything I needed for an efficient and tranquil 3 days of work, runs at the nearby State park (and great shower water pressure afterwards), and appreciated the high-speed internet combined with the gorgeous lake view out the huge bay window. They both were very quickly and kindly responsive to my communications and accommodated a quick booking when I realized, last minute, that I had a free weekend. Thanks so much!

    Elizabeth2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • GREAT value, clean space, accurate listing, great view and location for wine country and Ithaca.

    Emma2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome spot on the lake, fantastic windows in the home with a great unobstructed view. We visited when there was a bit of snow and ice and Kim and Mike went the extra mile by clearing out a space for us at the end of their driveway for easy in and out. Their list of area attractions was very helpful and all-encompassing. We spent most of our time hiking and then at night going into Ithaca for dinner and the home is in a great location for easy access to the areas natural gems. Overall a great value and location!

    Corey2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Kim and Mike’s place is better than expected! It is cozy, relaxing and peaceful! We had everything we needed and the location was great. Definitely coming back again!

The Lavender House is located on a wonderful tree lined street in the middle of downtown Ithaca. The Ithaca Commons is a three block walk from the front door. As well as a stylishly appointed decor that includes tons of original artwork you will find a charming garden with a picnic table. The house is from the early 1900’s and has been recently updated with brand new hardwood floors and new bathroom (kept the old claw foot tub). You are conveniently close to all the attractions of downtown and can also easily get out to the many gorgeous hiking areas and wine trails. Our famed Wegmans food market is also a short walk away. Your host is an artist and former chef. His barn studio and open air exhibition space is five acres of bucolic land with a pond that overlooks downtown ithaca and the universities. You are welcome for a visit. There you can see his stone carvings presented in a beautiful garden setting. Currently he is converting a 1966 Airstream into a printmaking studio. As a former chef with strong ties to the local culinary scene, your host can be easily cajoled into preparing a meal during your stay.
The Southside is truly Ithaca’s diverse neighborhood. The Lavender House is located across the street from the Southside Community Center which is the heart of the community located in a charming WPA era building.
  • Very beautiful sleeping accommodation. I would stay there again

  • A lovely house filled with light and art and plants. Welcoming hosts. Great location to the Commons. Quiet neighborhood. The bed is so very comfortable. On street parking easy.

  • Lovely place. Spotlessly clean. Great host.

    Aileen2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • The location is excellent. Clean and convenient. Can’t really ask for more in this price range. Sean gave me personal recommendations based on my requests.

    Nicole2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • As a first-time Airbnb guest I had no idea what to expect, but the Lavender Room was a lovely experience. The house was lived in without being messy or sterile like a hotel room. Sean's housemates were polite and welcoming. The room we stayed in was comfortable and neatly furnished with plenty of natural light and lamp lighting. Sheets, pillows, blankets and towels were clean and professionally stocked. I personally slept like a rock! We will be visiting the Lavender Room the next time we stay in Ithaca!

It's a Tiny House! I haven't decided to call it a cottage or a cabin, probably because it's a little of both...maybe I'll call it "The Goat Barn"! The story goes...four years ago, we built a barn for our three goats. They lived happily for a year until we found them a home where younger people would play with them. Two years ago, I decided to convert my adorable little goat barn into this cozy cottage and this is what I'm presenting to my guests.
The cottage/cabin/goat barn offers 2 rooms approx. 256 sq. ft. At the front door, you'll walk into the kitchenette, private room and a sitting space next to the window. The kitchenette offers a mini frig, small sink, microwave, electric outlets, 4 dishes, bowls, drinking glasses, silverware. There is a cabinet can hold dry goods. There are 2 fans in the cottage, and magnetic screen curtains on both doors so you can leave the doors open for a breeze. Then you'll walk into the cozy, organized bedroom which goes out onto the back deck to enjoy summer evenings. There are little cubby closets built-in on both side of the bed for those who like to unpack their backpack/luggage. There is an outside area under a tent where you'll find a Coleman cook stove grill. There is no cooking in the kitchen only a microwave to warm food. The outside cookstove will offer you a space to grill, boil water for pasta, rice, etc. I've provided two different sized pots and stainless steel skillet for cooking on the stove. There is a shared main bathroom for showers in the main house. I ask that showers be quick, to be respectful to other guests and myself, there could possibly be 6 people, myself and guests waiting to use the shared shower, in the main bathroom. This might not be a fit for everyone and I completely understand this. Pets for those with allergies: I have a little Schnoodle (hypoallergenic) named Bella and 2 cats... the black cat is Sacred and the orange cat (my daughters) named Pumpkin. I appreciate your cooperation and hope you will have an enjoyable stay with us. Please read OTHER NOTES
The Finger Lakes offers many trails and beautiful waterfalls all with just a few miles. Two miles from here is Treman State Park where you'll start at the top of Lucifer Falls and walk down to Tremans Falls Park which offers picnicking and swimming. https://expo.syracuse.com/life-and-culture/g66l-2019/06/6887216342494/mr-cheapskates-guide-to-ithaca-12-fun-things-to-do-for-under-50.html
  • We really enjoyed staying at Sages tiny house. We stayed 2 nights, but 3 would have been perfect!! The house is really cozy and romantic, the patio and garden are amazing. The house doesnt have a bathroom, but Sage allowed us to use hers which was nice :). Can recommend to drive and walk through the Cornell campus, visit a couple of wineries (e.g. Lakewood) and hike in the area. Thank you Sage!

    Marit2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • The Goat Barn was absolutely charming and conveniently located near a number parks and hiking trails. Sage, as a host, was hospitable and quick to respond to messages. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay!

    Hee Young (Clara)2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great little house to go off the grid and reconnect. We loved the fireplace touch and the outdoor patio. The outside was too cute, especially at night!

    Chelsea2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic tiny home in a beautiful garden. We went to a wedding up the street at Gratitude and Grace, so it was a great location. Sage was a great host, lovely to chat with and full of local information. Great place!

    Alix2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Sage’s place is exactly what we expected, adventurous but homey, comfortable but exciting, all round a wonderful stay. Sage is an excellent communicator and was really thoughtful with regards to how our stay was going or could be better. Great value for money!!

    Hannah2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Clean and lovely. Very cozy and in a beautiful area. Highly recommend.

    Roisin2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This location had such coziness and charm. With the surrounding garden, flowers and rolling hills, it was a very nice getaway. Close to Ithaca and many hiking trails. Especially cool if you are in for the "tiny house" like experience.

    Sarah2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • The Goat Barn is about a 15 minute drive from Ithaca and 25 minute drive from Watkins Glen, so the location is ideal. The house is tucked away in the country-side and offers PLENTY of solitude from busy areas. The Goat Barn is a tiny little space but just the perfect size for two people, and is equipped with a small bathroom, kitchenette, armchair, and bedroom with storage space. The bedroom has a wonderful heater for cold nights, but you can open screened windows for fresh air on nights you need a more airflow. I absolutely loved the gardens throughout the property, hearing the rain lazily drip outside, and the cats and dogs that roamed about happily. Sage let us come into the main house to borrow her toaster for breakfast one morning, which was really kind. The toilet is indeed a bucket -- but as my partner and I are on the adventurous side, we said "let's roll with it!", and the whole experience feels super rustic and different from your typical hotel or Airbnb! If you drink wine, I recommend bringing your own cork screw. Sage offered us bottled water if we were uncomfortable with the smell of sulfur water, which we preferred for drinking. We didn't use the outdoor stove but would really love to if we are ever back! Sage has thoughtful suggestions for trip ideas, so definitely ask! Our favorite things to do on our short weekend trip were to hike the Watkins Glen and Taughannock Falls trail -- parking is $8 to visit these spots but you can visit both in the same day with just one ticket -- and bike the Black Diamond trail along Cayuga lake. As for food, I HIGHLY recommend Ithaca Bakery for sandwiches and coffee, and the Collegetown Bagels for breakfast. Shortstop Deli is so good for cheap, good, quick eats! I always We tried Moosewood for vegan/vegetarian, which was delicious. We also enjoyed driving through Cornell's campus. There are TONS of wineries along Cayuga lake, but we didn't get to do any of them because I felt bloated (ha!) and also ran out of time. Don't pass up this spot!

It was a quiet location and had a nice little fridge, stove top and most anything you would need for a nice overnight or two. The double bed was a tight fit for the two of us but it was a comfy bed!

This is a huge, sun-filled, airy, breezy apartment with original hardwood floors & woodwork, floor to ceiling windows and 10 foot ceilings. It is on the second floor of our historic home in Downtown Ithaca, two blocks away from the Commons. The sun streams in and lights up this space all day long. The 3 season porch off of the bedroom is the perfect place to unwind anytime with a cocktail or a cup of tea and a book. There is a heater out there in the fall and winter, allowing it to be used year round (this is my favorite room in the whole house!). The main bedroom has a double bed, and the other room has three twin beds (all with new, super comfortable mattresses). We are also able to bring in more beds for bigger groups. Just let us know what works best for you and your group when you book. This apartment can sleep eight; it’s a little tight with all the beds, but it can definitely be done. We’ve done it in the past resulting in very happy guests (Big Hugs to Becky & Crew! ♥️) If you are interested in hosting a party (graduation, wedding, reunion or any other kind of event here), please message me with the details so we can figure out what works best for you and your group!

  • Sarah's place is a really great location. Minutes walk from Ithaca Commons. You can experience the entire town by foot! The apartment has wooden character and all the amenities you would need. Bedding with fresh clean cotton sheets and ample stylish woolens. Sarah was really good about communicating in real-time; extremely polite. The apartment is one of several apartments in a big, older house. Wonderful parking, wonderful location. Would recommend this as part of an Ithaca experience to anyone again.

  • This host had a great location, walking distance From Commons and the State Theatre. There are four beds plus a roll away and a roomy couch, plus a fully equipped kitchen complete with coffee maker and coffee. Perfect for two couples or parents and kids to explore all that Ithaca had to offer. Will book for our next concert event. Plane is decorated in a quirky college/Michigan style. I loved the vintage quilts at the foot of every bed. BTW there is an awesome quilt shop in town.

    Elijah2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah's place is optimally located to explore Ithaca and its surrounding area. I've now stayed in all three rooms available and each one has its own appeal. Sarah provides everything a traveler needs from an Airbnb--it's not an impersonal place to stay by any stretch of the imagination. My dog is welcomed every time with a fresh water bowl at the ready--that means a lot to me.

    Judith2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Charming house, close to everything, will definitely be staying again!

    David-Josiah2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great historic house that is dog friendly. Within easy walking distance of the downtown area of Ithaca. Quick and easy check in. Sarah was very responsive and efficient. Plenty of parking. Would recommend.

    Jett2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • We just had a quick trip to Ithaca and Sarah's place was perfect for us and our toddler. Sarah was very communicative from the start of the reservation and even helped us with an early check-in. She was readily available and quick to respond and helpful during our stay. The location is on a quiet street very close to everything central Ithaca has to offer. The apartment is very cozy and is decorated with a very inviting vintage style with a lot of character. Plenty of space for us to lounge and could certainly handle larger groups. The bed was comfy and we slept great. The temperature was always perfect, we never felt too warm or cold, which is not easy to do in an old building in Upstate, NY. Next time we will stay longer.

Beautiful, spacious, clean, partially underground Studio apartment w/ updated kitchen & bathroom (w/ tub & shower), bamboo floors. The queen size bed is partially separated from the living room by a breakfast counter. Living room has 2 daybeds. Entire space to sleeps 4. Excellent WiFi & Cable TV. I will leave good quality bread, eggs, oatmeal, coffee & other basic breakfast items for you to make your own breakfast. Sorry no children under the age of 7 and no pets please.
This is a delightful, comfortable, clean and spacious yet cozy apartment. It's on a large picturesque country lot, yet only about 4 miles from downtown Ithaca, Ithaca College, and Cornell University. The new, modern kitchen has a full refrigerator, oven, stove, toaster, blender, coffee makers, dishes, and plenty of utensils and cookware. No need to bring water as my well water is very good. There is also a Britta filter. I require your willingness to recycle and to compost food scraps. The bathroom has a full bathtub, shower and bamboo floors. There's a queen size bed in the main bedroom and two single daybeds in the living room. Enjoy the high speed Wifi and the multi-channeled cable TV with many movie channels. There are two single daybeds in the living room. There is no shortage of blankets, towels and other good quality linens. I can help orient you and make recommendations for things to see and do. Upper Buttermilk Falls State Park is only about 3 miles away. Taughannock Falls State Park (said to be the highest waterfall east of the Rockies!) is 8 miles from Ithaca, along the west side of Cayuga Lake. Upper Treman State Park is also exquisite. You may want to try the wine trails, the Farmers' Markets, a boat ride on the lake, or enjoy the abundance of very talented musicians and other high quality arts and museums. Coddington is a fairly peaceful, scenic, country road that leads straight into town. You may want to stock up on food provisions before you arrive because all the restaurants and grocery stores (such as Wegman’s) are in Ithaca, which is 10 minutes away. There is no public transportation. Parking is directly in front of your door to make it easy to carry things in and out. The space is partially underground, creating a perfect natural coolness during the summer. But to ensure your comfort, we have AC and a couple of fans. During the cooler months, you will be comfortably warm with the thermostically controlled wood pellet stove.
Very safe and peaceful neighborhood with fresh air and starry nights. My road, Coddington, leads you straight to Ithaca and downtown Ithaca within 10 minutes. Cornell University is a 12-15 minute drive.

  • It was an amazing stay! Would definitely stay here again.

  • This wonderful unit is unique and located within walking distance of so many great places to go! We felt right at home and we enjoyed speculating on the history of the house and the unit itself. Bonus was we saw 4 does walking around right by the house and in the small patch of woods behind it, nibbling on fresh shoots in the sunshine.

    Monica2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place with a lot of homey touches! Highly recommend!

  • Kathrine and Neil were wonderful hosts and provided a wonderful charming apartment in a great location. The apartment was bright, spotless and well equipped. The bed was fresh and comfortable. We loved the many special touches. Communication was easy and we’d love to come back!

  • This place was absolutely amazing to stay at! It definitely exceeded our expectations. The place was so clean and hospitable. I would stay there again.

    Matt2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding. We are walkers, so we loved it that we could hike up to Cornell as well as the Ithaca Commons rather easily. The space is stylish, with books I wish I had more time to thumb through. Well stocked kitchen. Excellent communication.

    Pat2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is by far the most cozy and wonderful place we have stayed at. I can't say enough about the hosts and their hospitality. You'll be extremely lucky to stay here should they have an open date to accommodate you. I'd give it more than five stars if that were possible.

    Wayne2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Kathrin’s apartment is in the perfect location - 20 minutes walk to Cornell, five minutes or less to downtown, five minute drive to Ithaca College. The apartment is beautifully designed and decorated and Kathrin truly thought of everything for the kitchen, the bath, and everywhere else. A fantastic stay and I didn’t want to leave.

Enjoy a rural getaway in a private, studio apartment. Located just 10 minutes from Cornell University, 15 minutes from downtown Ithaca, this rental is perfect for those who prefer an alternative to city life. Enjoy our deck, with breath-taking views of Cayuga lake valley and sunsets, as well as a star gazing deck above and soak in the Milky Way. Perfect for the avid bird-watcher as well. While your space is completely private, it is attached to our house and you will hear our family.
This is a studio apartment, with it's own kitchen, and bathroom with a stand-up shower, as well as plenty of towels and linens. It is perfect for a single guest or couple, and a pack n play is available upon request if traveling with an infant or young child, as well as a twin sized inflatable bed. The queen size bed is memory foam and very comfortable. There is a dresser and closet with hangars, iron and ironing board for storing clothes. The apartment is attached to our house, but with it's own private entrance and no shared living space. Therefore, you will hear our kids and our family going about our daily lives. We have a large fenced in backyard, and two decks that you are welcome to enjoy as well. Our two friendly and well trained dogs would love to join you outside, but if you prefer privacy, just let me know when you are coming and going and I can keep them out of your way.
Located on a quiet, dead end street. There is very little traffic.
  • Spotless apartment in Christopher and Theresa’s home. Very close to Cornell and Ithaca but far enough to be quiet. Bed was really comfortable and while we heard the hosts family it wasn’t loud or late at night.

    Jennifer2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Teresa's place is my go-to for my frequent trips to Ithaca. It's always a pleasure to stay there!

    Maria2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay if you’re visiting Ithaca!

    Liam2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

    Caralyn2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Teresa’s place is beautiful and clean. What a great place for a restful and relaxing stay!

    Samuel2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • The place is very clean and warming. The host offered to have fresh eggs for us in the fridge and was very responsive. They host also very much respected privacy and wanted to make sure we were taken care of. Highly recommend them.

    Garrett2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a nice living space for those pulling through Ithaca for a night. It features a nice kitchen with amenities. Teresa is nice and responsive. You may hear the family going about their daily lives as this apartment is located below them. There is a small white noise machine for those who like a little noise while they sleep, which was a pleasant surprise. If I was staying in Ithaca again for a single night, I would likely stay again.

    Christian2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Teresa was so kind and helpful during the entire process of staying there. She helped me out with a personal project I rented the Airbnb for (which was unbelievably cool of her to do!) and couldn’t have been more communicative and wonderful to my boyfriend and I. We hope to stay at her beautiful location again sometime in the future, and her pups were the sweetest ever!!

Charming, newly remodeled and refurnished 3 bedroom cottage with lake access, ample parking just a 10 minute drive from Cornell University and downtown Ithaca. Two bedrooms have queen beds; the third bedroom has a twin. One full bathroom upstairs, an additional half-bath is downstairs. The house is located across the street from the lake but includes a modest shore-side deck a very short walk from the house (see pictures). A picturesque creek runs adjacent to the property.
  • Gabriel’s place was the prefect spot for my fiancé and I. We were able to enjoy the beautiful lake as well as the great restaurants in downtown Ithaca!

    Kevin2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Easy access to Ithaca, wineries, waterfalls, and Cayuga lake. We really enjoyed exploring the waterfall adjacent to the house (cross the road and walk back underneath to access it) and sitting on the small deck on Cayuga lake to drink wine and watch the sun set. The ceilings in the dining room and kitchen would make these two rooms uncomfortable for tall people (not an issue for us!) The house is located right on a road that is busy (45 mph) during the day but was quiet at night. Gabe was great! The house itself is charming / historic. We had a very nice stay.

    Susan2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Gabe’s place is centrally located for visits to Ithaca for college visits, great hiking and boating, and a host of Finger Lakes attractions. His communication was prompt and accurate and accommodating. We loved being able to cross the street for Cayuga Lake access too. We would definitely return!

    Wendy2019-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • This house was beautiful! Just a few minutes from down town Ithaca. The house was so beautiful and vintage with classic touches. Check in and out is easy and Gabe is so easy to work with! 10/10 recommend this house!!

    Michelle2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Gabe’s house is comfortable and is well situated by the lake. He’s really responsive and accommodating. We had a great time.

  • Excellent location for my travel plans, clean, quiet and peaceful scene after a long day on the road. Lots of space, yet cozy in the night.

    Beckie2019-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Superior place and great value for a family of four (2 parents, 2 daughters ages 9 and 11). House could comfortably accommodate a few more people. This was the fourth time we’d stayed at an Airbnb option in Ithaca for my family, and easily our favorite. Immaculate, comfortable, convenient. Quaint features. My daughter especially loved the secret entry to the master bedroom through the access through the closet. My other daughter loved listening to the large waterfall, next door to the house, that lulled her to sleep. After dinner, we relaxed in the large family room, played piano, chess, and jenga, and read on the couch. We had to leave the next day, so didn’t have a chance to take advantage of the lake access. Definitely recommended.

Private fully stocked apartment with own deck and entrance. High speed internet and cable tv. Air conditioned bedroom in summer and you control furnace in winter. Rooms are loaded with windows allowing air and natural light galore. First morning’s breakfast included! We stock Ithaca muffins, coffee, 1/2&1/2, orange juice, eggs, fruit & more.
5 minutes to Cornell and walk to Sapsucker Woods! Surrounded by majestic maples and pines, you will rest comfortably on this peaceful dead end street. Decorated with original impressionist art of Cornell landmarks by artist Pen King. An assortment of maps, menu guides, attraction brochures and bus schedules available. The desk and closet are fully stocked with any incidentals you might need. The bathroom 'did you forget something' basket includes toiletries and incidentals to save a trip to the drug store.
The Alley house is located in what is affectionately known as Cigarette Alley in Northeast Ithaca NY. We have a herd of deer living on our dead end street! We are walking distance to the trails at Cornell's Lab of Ornithology. We are minutes from Cornell, Ithaca College and the Ithaca Commons yet the beauty of nature is abundant here. The Alley House is best served by car, while we are only 2 miles from Cornell, the Ithaca hills make the walk strenuous. The TCAT 31 bus comes by hourly M-F and less regularly on weekends.
  • Highly recommend

    Dennis2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A great cozy apartment with a comfortable bed in a quiet neighborhood. Unless you plan to be cooking elaborate meals during your stay, the Alley House is ideal!

    Shermann2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • The house was very nice, especially if you are trying to have a relaxing time. The space feels very safe and private, but if you would like to watch a movie, the Television is a litte bit small, but there’s enough to do in Ithaca to not make this an issue :)

    Preston2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Don’t be fooled by the pictures, this place is a lot better than expected and accommodating. Your hosts give you breakfast and respond quickly, you have an entrance and exit of your own in the back door. They are also private and if you appreciate your intimate and private space this is great. We didn’t go out much so we didn’t get to see them but they are friendly. The kitchen had almost everything you need and if you plan on cooking this is somewhere you can. You have supermarkets nearby and local farms. The downtown area is also very nice near Cornell, they sell a lot of local stuff, a cute bookstore and antiques. Thank you Alley House, you made this one we will not forget!

    Alex2019-12-31T00:00:00Z

Corona virus, we are taking precautions, bleach and Lysol all surface areas. Same day bookings might not be available. We wait 24hrs to clean. Germs/viruses live on people, Not active on surfaces. Our Cleaners are self isolated as much as possible. Great comfortable room in convenient location for travelers, close to bus stop, CVS and wegmans. Commons is walking distance or biking distance away!
Brand new carpet floors, bright and minimalist, non clutter. Bedroom with desk for work
Close to the strip malls, commons, and Southside community center.
  • Was as expected, quite a few rooms for a single bath would be my only complaint. Otherwise good value for money.

  • The place is very near to downtown. The kitchen and dining areas are clean and spacious. The room is almost as described. One thing to note is that single bath room is shared by 4 rooms, didnt have much issue though. It was a good experience. Would recommend this place to anyone.

Charming historic train station (ca.1830) located near the southeast corner of Cayuga Lake, across the street from Stewart Park, the Visitor Center and the Cayuga Waterfront Trailhead. This house is not for everybody. It has a rustic, bohemian vibe. There is a flight of stairs leading to the bedroom. For stays of 5 days or longer please contact me first before instant booking.
There is one very friendly cat named Blue who lives on the property. He was a stray who chose the property as his forever home during the summer of 2014. He hates to leave the property and refuses to get in a cat carrier, so ideally, guests must feed and pet him. If this isn't possible, I can arrange for someone else to stop by and feed him.
Walking distance to the East Shore swimming beach. Across the street from the Cayuga Waterfront Trailhead and Stewart Park. Biking distance or 30-minute walk to the Ithaca Farmer's Market.
  • This place was great and exactly what I was looking for for a weekend getaway to Ithaca. Bleu the cat is very friendly and the space is incredibly charming in a good location.

    Danny E2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely stay. Pictures don't capture the charm accurately. A great to place to wind down and catch some peaceful time away from a busy life. Wylie is very kind and responsive. Would stay again.

  • I had a good time here and would stay again if in the area. A friendly giant cat greets you at the door and there was some nice artistic touches to the place. The host was also nice and responded quickly.

  • Cute, cozy little cottage. Has everything you need. Blue came outside to invite us in; Talkative and has great manner. Would come back if visit Ithaca again.

    Bo2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • The most unique little place! I felt so at home here, so at ease, and at peace. Wylie’s place is incredibly stylish with bohemian vibes and she is a wonderful host. Bleu was also the best snuggler and so friendly! Definitely cannot wait to return !

    Riley2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Wylie’s place is exactly as advertised- it was a great spot to stay when I returned to my old stomping grounds in Ithaca and is convenient to everything. Plus, Blue is a charmer.

    Clifton2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I were looking for something unique and close to all that Ithaca has to offer and we found it! Wylie’s place offers a little history, artistic and travel inspired decor, a cozy cabin feel and a sweet and friendly cat! It was 10 min or less from downtown (we took an Uber in one night) and sits just across from the lake and park. You do hear traffic but it died down by the time we were going to bed. A train passed by one evening but again, not an issue for sleeping. The bed was comfy and while we didn’t need to run it most of the time, the heat warms the house quickly on chilly nights. Wylie was very responsive. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

    Christina2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Central and a good value. The kitty has a lot to say and is a total sweetheart. We were worried about the noise from the main road but it was quiet at night and not nearly as loud as it was during the day.

Cozy, comfortable, brick bungalow nestled in a stand of trees offers convenience & seclusion just off the beaten-path. Knotty pine, radiant heating, cathedral ceiling & loft are warm & inviting. Minutes away from three state parks, Cayuga & Seneca lakes & wine trails, Cornell, Ithaca College & the renowned Ithaca Commons. Let us assist you in creating the stay that you would most enjoy. Please note, due to some unfortunate incidents, we have limited our acceptance of dogs to service animals.
The Nest balances charm and function... the deliciousness is in the details. Stained glass portals offer prisms of light in the morning sun. Our library ladder and antique corner shelving, hurricane lamps and wrought iron hangers were all sought out and hand-picked for the unique character that they add. Ceiling fans are conveniently placed for comfort and add a touch of beauty. Unique and delightful to the senses. Please use caution in the loft area as the stained glass windows that are so charming, provide more of an emotional barrier than a physical one. They will not hold your weight, so no gymnastics (or kids!) in the loft, please.
The country-setting of our home means that you won't be seeing any neighbors, however you may hear their roosters crowing, or cattle lowing at various times on warm days. In the evening, the air is filled with the sound of bullfrogs, tree frogs, and the occasional owl. Avid birders (read: junior ornithologists), we share our home with robins, eastern phoebes, grackles, cowbirds, finches, red-tailed hawks, downy, hairy, yellow-bellied, red-headed and piloted woodpeckers as well as ruby-throated hummingbirds, black-capped chickadees, swallows, sparrows, cardinals, goldfinches, house finches, grosbeaks, barred owls, herons, mourning doves and whomever seems to be passing by! You may spot a luna moth and a variety of swallowtail butterflies in addition to the painted ladies that we raise. Do note that car windows should be closed at night since our neighbors include some rambunctious raccoons, sprightly squirrels and curious chipmunks!
  • We had a lovely stay at Heather's cabin. Heather was very communicative and provided us all the details we needed to enjoy our stay. The cabin matched the description online to a T. Highly recommend!

  • Heather’s cabin was everything that was advertised and more! My friend and I had a lovely time. We especially appreciated the thoughtful amenities - including the coffee (and cream) made available to accompany our breakfast in the morning. There was quite a bit of snowfall the night we stayed over and Heather made sure we were able to get out of the driveway safely (which was also greatly appreciated). I cannot recommend her space enough and would happily return!!

  • This cabin is super cozy and comfortable! It's in a great location - very convenient to downtown Ithaca, and many parks. There's also some nice views of the lake to be had while driving to and from.
