Come and enjoy our sunny retro retreat on the Bay of Fires coast. Spacious living with stylish art, decor & quality linen. Kick back with stunning water views, secluded garden & cosy log fire. Walk to the bayside beach. Watch the pelicans and sea eagles fly past. With WiFi and a smart TV the Beach House works equally well for a family holiday, working away from home or a writers retreat.
Welcome to the Bay of Fires coast renowned for its white powder-soft sand, orange lichen-covered rocks & turquoise water. St Helens is a quaint fishing village set on the beautiful Georges Bay with the Bay of Fires beaches stretching to the north and St Helens Point, home of the giant Peron Dunes and Beer Barrel Beach flanking the bay to the south. Our beach retreat is perched on the gum-covered ridge above the bay with stunning water views, dramatic skyscapes and sunsets and complete privacy. The land stretches down to the bayside beach with no other houses to impede your view. Birdlife is abundant in the native garden and the pelicans oblige with regular fly pasts. Kookaburras are likely to greet you on arrival and blue wrens abound. The house is furnished with an eclectic blend of furniture collected over 40 years of living in Tasmania. Paintings and woodcuts from the owners' private collection along with Pacific Island and African basketwear rub shoulders with retro furnishings which have been jealously guarded by the beach house since it was built in the 1950's. Polished boards, louvred windows and expansive decks at the front and rear of the house add to the beach house feel. The only shells you'll find are real ones from nearby beaches - no 'seaside kitsch' from the local bric-a-brac shop! The spacious sunroom doubles as a dining area with seating for 6 around the locally-made macrocarpa table. The daybed in the corner is the perfect reading and napping spot. A desk, bookcase, and BOSE sound system, eclectic cd collection and drawer full of games and puzzles complete the holiday mood. The living room is open-plan with the kitchen and has comfortable leather sofas in front of the open log fire. Sliding doors lead onto the deck facing the bay view. The well equipped kitchen includes an oven, microwave and fridge and has a colourful array of serving bowls, quality glassware, crockery and cutlery. Perch on the counter stools for breakfast or curl up in the leather sofas and watch a movie - the owners run a film festival so the DVD rack is buckling under the weight of titles. The bathroom has a shower, basin, flush toilet and heated towel rail and there is a separate laundry with washing machine. Both the front and rear decks have tables, chairs, deck chairs, sun umbrellas and a gas BBQ. A hammock, garden seats, African style "braai" pit and established lawns extend the outdoor living options. The home comfortably sleeps 5 in two bedrooms with all linen provided. The carpeted queen bedroom looks out through the sunroom to the bay views and has a corner wardrobe and dressing table. The second bedroom has both a double and single bed and built-in wardrobe. Both bedrooms have quality linen, electric heaters, blinds, curtains and bedside lamps bright enough to read by. Boogie boards, beach bats, beach towels, a sun umbrella and other paraphernalia for a a day at the beach are all provided. The house has off street parking for two cars and the front garden is fenced and dog secure.
Binalong Bay, the gateway to the Bay of Fires, is short drive north of the Beach House and the new St Helens MTB Mountain Bike Trails are right on your doorstep. Just 5 minutes down St Helens Point Road lie the surfing beaches: Beer Barrel and Maurouard. Grab the boogie boards, towels and some wetsuits (all provided) and jump in the ocean! Or wander over the red lichen covered rocks towards the towering Peron sand-dunes. This untouched part of the coastline is much as the French explorers found it in the 1700s. Thank you François Péron! If you're looking for a sheltered spot to set up for a day on the sand, head beyond the turn off to the beaches on St Helens Point Road and find the peaceful Burns Bay. There's a collection of secluded bays to explore with beautiful boulders.
  • Such a fantastic haven, away from hustle and bustle, the view is amazing, could sit and watch the bay all day. Lots of little special homely touches. Great shower, great art, comfortable beds, private raised decked area, perfect for cooking on the barbie and watching sunset. Bird watching and relaxing. Highly recommend staying at Helen's.

  • What a wonderful spot. This place was even nicer than I expected. Wonderful views from inside a cosy and charming cottage. Loved that there were heaters throughout the home so you could enjoy the whole space on chilly evenings. We had a lovely family meal in the front room looking out over the water. Will stay again.

Located on St Helens point Road our beach house is a ten minute drive from the township of St Helens on Tasmania's beautiful north east coast. Walk through the garden down to the beach or take a drive to some of the best Tasmania has to offer
Our family beach house for thirty years we love sharing it and we’re slowly renovating for maximum comfort and enjoyment. A wonderful space to use as a base for families, couples or friendship groups to explore the area or enjoy favorite pass-times. Not to brag, but the house is 30 seconds walk from the door to the beach via a walking track through native bush and Marram grass. Or, head off in the other direction for a twenty minute walk through tea tree and she oak grove, across Peron dunes to what is an often deserted, nine kilometer long stretch of pristine coastline of rolling waves and white sand. We’ve got four new, super comfy double beds over three bedrooms (one set up in a bunk arrangement). It’s close quarters so we recommend the house sleep 6 but that doesn’t stop you from squeezing in 8 if you don’t mind climbing a ladder to the top bunk... then there’s the couch. Our shower is small with a step over into a bath, so not ideal for mobility challenged. We’re working on that next! Outdoors there’s room for several cars and boats but the deck is the centerpiece of outdoor entertaining with a ten seater table and portable coal barbecue to use while partially shaded by large eucalyptus trees. The area has 120kms of new cycling tracks and there has always been wonderful natural beauty in the hinterland, on the coast and under the water (the fishing is brilliant). When the weather or the night closes in, retreat to the newly renovated kitchen (with induction cooktop) and log fire, enjoy the wide selection of books, board games, streaming services (Netflix, etc) via NBN internet and unwind. We’re constantly improving the house so please be aware that aspects shown in images may vary slightly (always for the better!). Dogs are welcome (I take mine) as long as they clean up after themselves (or have a human helper). Please be aware that the property is only fenced on two sides, leaving the beach and road sides of the property open.
The area is made up mostly of holiday homes and some permanent residents.
  • We had a wonderful stay! The beds and linen were very comfortable and makes you want to not get out of bed! It rained quite heavily during our trip, but we couldn't have chosen a better place to be in on a rainy day. There were books galore, movies to watch, boardgames to play and a very beautiful well-equipped kitchen to cook whatever your heart desired. When the weather let off a little, we took a short stroll down to the beach, which was right in front of the house! And we visited Bay of Fires which was a short drive away. All in all, the perfect place to base yourself if you wish to visit the nearby attractions or if you just need a relaxing holiday.

  • Perfect little getaway for our family. This place had everything we ever wanted and more. Perfectly equipped kitchen allowed us to prepare healthy family meals with ease. There is even a coffee machine! Good quality appliances and plenty of pots! The place was within walking distance from the water - a great black swans watching sport. If you love reading you might find it hard to leave because the place is packed with books! We would definately stay here again.

    Ivana2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to rest and relax. Though it rained for a couple of days while we were there, we were warm and cosy with the fire lit. We enjoyed playing scrabble and reading. Who doesn’t love a house with so many books! Wonderful beach walks and just a ten minute drive to St Helens.

    Ann2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent accommodation. House is well set out with large fully equipped kitchen. Living area is full of books and games. Outside area has fire pit and 2 minute walk to the beach.

  • Absolutely adored this little shack. Tucked out of the way from the town centre which was perfect for us, close to beaches and the place itself is so beautifully thought out - we especially loved the big open kitchen and board games. Can’t wait to come back again some day.

  • What a great find! The host was very responsive and provided toys and books as well as a useful step for our three year old. It was a very enjoyable stay, with local shops and library (lovely story time at 10.30 on Friday’s) just a four minute drive away. Incredibly comfortable master bed, lots of kitchen ware for cooking in. Useful laundry room. Nice bathroom products. Very quiet location. We loved the beaches at Binalong Bay and further up the coast at Honeymoon Point Road. Would recommend this place to stay.

  • This cute little cottage is off the road but close to the beach and St Helens. We enjoyed the quite and both had the best sleep. One night we took a glass of wine and cheese to the beach, no one else was around it was just perfect. Wildlife abounds, we saw black Cockies. The cottage is very comfortable and has everything you need.

  • Cosy bush retreat ! Views of trees are panoramic, making the place so private and quiet. Very comfortable bed and great ammenities. Basic kitchenette but electric grill/ hot plate make cooking possible. Croissants for breakfast were yummy, however bring some extra condiments along as these were lacking (e.g. no butter or jam) Loved the crayfish theme extending throughout the whole cottage. Caroline is a great communicator and friendly host. Great place to stay!

A romantic coastal getaway with everything you need (and nothing you don't) close by. A little haven for recharging and reflection nestled in the stunning surrounds of Tasmania's holiday playground. Perfect for long beach walks and drinks on the deck — and like us we hope that every guest who stays will love it as much as we do. Unwind, reconnect, rejuvenate, and relax.
Restored with love, care and a touch of creative flair, Sarah’s is filled with carefully collected vintage and eclectic treasures and many foraged botanical and seaside finds. It is a small comfortable space celebrating a typical Tasmanian shack culture and certainly doesn’t aspire to be a luxury hotel and that is what makes it such an amazing space. Use the space to get back to basics, reconnect and relax (with some of life’s luxuries including Smart TV, and Wifi). Enjoy the peaceful surrounds, sleep in and appreciate a slower pace. Although equipped with modern comforts, it is rustic, raw and authentic just the way Tasmania was meant to be enjoyed. Sarah's Cottage is a generous getaway for 2. She has a well equipped country style kitchen, new bathroom, open plan dining and lounge and a bedroom with a comfy queen size bed (and possibly too many cushions). She has a huge outdoor entertaining area with a comfy outdoor lounge perfect for snuggling up, enjoying your morning coffee or laying back and reading that book you've been trying to finish. Equally designed for enjoying in solitude or to be shared with love. Coffee, tea and basic provisions are provided and there are two grocers in nearby St Helens and a wide array of restaurants and Cafés.
St Helens is all about the ocean. The beaches, bays and estuaries here are perfect for swimming, beach walking, sailing, snorkeling, scuba diving, and every kind of fishing. Bay of Fires and Binalong Bay are rated one of the Lonely Planet's top ten regions in the world and St Helens is known as the gateway to this area. The iconic white sandy beaches,lichen-covered granite boulders, and crystal clear turquoise waters provide the perfect backdrop for all beach and water activities. The bays are conservation areas and home to an abundance of bird and marine life. Pynengana is a small dairy town and home to the historic Pyengana Dairy where you can see cheese being made and taste a selection of award winning cheeses. It's also home to The Pub in the Paddock one of the oldest pubs in Tasmania.
  • Great place, beautifully cozy, comfy bed.

  • Had an absolutely lovely time at Samantha's place - it's a gorgeous house with a huge deck with great outdoor furniture which gets afternoon sun, an easy drive into St Helen's and the beaches of the Bay of Fires. Very comfy bed and everything very clean. Would highly recommend!

  • Beautiful cottage that is very classy in many respects. Close to the water and in a quiet neighborhood (except for the rooster next door). Beautiful deck and completely self contained. A couple of restaurants nearby but need to go into St Helens for more variety Highly recommend

  • Samantha’s place is beautiful! It is just outside St Helens and is so quiet and peaceful. A lovely place to stay for a few nights to get away from it all!

  • Samantha's place was incredibly easy to find and check in. There was plenty of space and really felt like a home. Beautifully decorated and thoughtful touches everywhere. • Lovely stylish space. Short drive to St Helens. Also an affordable Air Bnb

    Cameron2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Samantha’s place is very comfortable and stylishly decorated. We appreciated the full kitchen so we could cook our own meals. We also enjoyed the large shower head - the water pressure was great, and the hot water came on very quickly. It is in a quiet neighborhood, and we enjoyed watching the many birds in the yard every morning. Samantha always quickly responded to my communications. The location is very convenient. It is around 10 minutes to St. Helens and less than 30 minutes to Binalong Bay/Bay of Fires. St. Helens Conservation Area is also right up the street - they have great beaches and walking trails, and the Peron Dunes are beautiful.

  • A wonderful well set out home. Kitchen had everything needed for cooking. Both bathrooms were clean. Plenty of space for a family.Only minor point that it would be nice to have light shades covering the bare globes.

  • This is a fantastic place to stay. Ive seen a few, this one rates very highly, from the amenities, layout and decor and thoughtful touches such as quality of linen and using environmentally friendly and healthy soaps shampoos etc. The pantry was stocked with many of the essentials needed for cooking (which was a welcome surprise)...and lastly, the hosts were proactive and assisted me with airbnbs mix up - going over and above and reinstating my booking after airbnb cancelled it.

    Alex2020-01-18T00:00:00Z

The cottage is beautifully decorated and was well equipped for our every need. Comfy beds too! So many thoughtful touches too numerous to mention, especially loved the freshly baked loaf of bread, homemade jams, and chocolates. A great base to explore the Bay of Fires region. Cant recommend this place highly enough!

  • Our trip to the bay of fires was beautiful, and staying at Tully Cottage made it so much better. Evan and Amaya were such friendly welcoming hosts! They made sure we got there safely and gave us advice on where to go. Seeing the listing we had very high expectations, and they managed to exceed them with fresh bread, a clean and cozy cottage with a patio perfect to snuggle under a blanket on a breezy night. The whole area is lovely, and the well tended fruit trees and plants make the gardens lovely to wander around!

    Elizabeth2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • What wonderful hosts! They were quick to respond to our messages and we loved the thoughtful touches like the homemade bread and special delivery of peaches and eggs! This cottage is one of the earliest buildings on the east coast of Tasmania, being built in around 1832. Recently restored, The Surveyors Cottage has an instant appeal with its high ceilings and beautiful light from the Georgian windows. The open fire is the star attraction - so warm and welcoming. An intimate space for two people, within easy walking distance of most local eateries & shops. Unlimited wifi if the fire isn’t enough to keep you happy.
The cottage is decorated with antique furniture befitting its time frame, a very comfy sofa and television. The bed is super comfy, we use quality pure cotton linens, Australian wool quilts & pillows, and of course an electric blanket. There is a wall heater in the bedroom for your sleeping comfort. The new en-suite is open plan beside the bedroom - please check the photos - if you like privacy in the bathroom this may not be the space for you! A fridge, microwave, sandwich press and toaster are provided together with a selection of loose leaf teas, and of course a china teapot. We offer a complimentary gin & tonic on arrival, a selection of condiments, a jug of milk and a few snacks. The main room of the cottage has a wall heater, plus the gorgeous wood fire. We supply kindling and fire lighters, plus a basket of wood in the entry. Unlimited wifi.
Our cottage is centrally located, and in walking distance to restaurants, cafes and local shops. Nina’s Restaurant is directly opposite our cottage; the post office is next door. The chemist is two doors down, and the news agency 3 doors down. Our Lifebuoy Cafe is 200 metres south at 29 Quail Street. We offer a 20% discount to our guests. We highly recommend Furneaux Restaurant (recently voted best Regional Restaurant in Australia) which is a 5 minute drive south, or a 15 minute easy walk. The Bayside Hotel offers a good pub meal. Skipper’s at the waterfront, or The Wharf offer local seafood. The East Coast Providore is opposite the cottage and has great Tasmanian produce and meals you can heat in the cottage.
  • Fantastic little cottage, just right for a couple. Oozing with history and charm. Gorgeous fireplace. Close to everything. Highly recommended.

  • The cottage was a beautiful space. Loved the decor and the interesting historical pieces placed around the cottage. The open fire topped off this wonderful stay. The cottage was sparkling clean with quality linen used throughout. Jane was an amazing host. So welcoming and kind. I can not recommend this place highly enough. We had an amazing stay whilst visiting the stunning scenery in this region. Thank you Jane and Mark for welcoming us.

Peaceful, quiet setting. Cosy, sunny, open-plan living; located within a minutes walk from the beach and in close proximity to numerous other beaches and boat ramps.
The cottage is nestled in a bush setting on St Helens Point Road, a 10 min walk through to the beautiful Peron Dunes. Also has a beach just down the road. Very close to two boat ramps, one at Stieglitz and one at St Helens Point. Also a playground at Stieglitz. The block can accommodate large boats and has a car port for parking. The cottage is alongside a very pretty tidal area full of bird life. The cottage is a 15 min drive into the town of St Helens where you will find supermarkets and shops. The accommodation offers very comfortable open plan living with a fully equipped kitchen. The loung includes a flat screen TV with a DVD player. The house sleeps three people upstairs on an open mezzanine floor, one queen, and one single. One single bed down stairs and a foldout sofa bed. - The cabin has beautiful bush views. The bathroom has a shower and a bath. There is a separate toilet and a washing machine and ironing facilities.
  • Very quite surrounding, 2 min to a beutiful beach. All ingredients for cooking are available. Very cosy and tide house. You want to stay there forever

    Marleen2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Just Jeoff’s felt cosy and warm from the minute we walked in the door. Yes, the decor is a little dated but the photos don’t really do the cabin justice - it was spacious, quiet and comfortable and had everything we needed for a short stay.

    Caroline2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • As we entered the house we fell in love at first sight. The house is well equipped and was very clean. It was a good base for exploring the Bay of Fires and the Freycinet National Park.

  • We spent a week at Geoff's shed over Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. This little place is as close as you can get to the stunning beaches of st Helens point and we took full advantage with long swims everyday. The property is located on a sweet, quiet cul de sac with Georges bay at the end - good for an evening stroll across the mud flats and viewing of the soldier crabs marching along. The place is beside a beautiful scrub land, with a picnic table out back to listen to the bird song over dinner. The house is clean, well appointed and Leonie had thoughtfully put out some Christmas decorations to make us feel at home. We'd definitely stay here again.

  • We had an excellent one night stay at Joanne’s place. I had a little trouble finding the right driveway but Joanne saw me and pointed me in the right direction. It was essentially as expected. We had a peaceful nights sleep before moving on the next day. Good location. Walking distance to everything in St Helens if you want or a very short drive.

  • Our room of 2 single beds was super well kitted out. Comfortable beds, mini fridge, tea, coffee and biscuits. All added to make our stay very comfortable. Plus the showers were very clean and had products again le to use. Perfect to recharge our batteries. Thanks!

  • I had a great stay at Artnor Lodge. The location is great, just a short walk into town. The room was clean and tidy and quiet. I found that the parking in the courtyard wasn't always available (all spaces were taken), but there was plenty of street parking in front of the lodge.

  • Our stay at Anna and Tom’s place was fantastic. Such a cool setup and would definitely stay here again in the future. The place is quite romantic so better suited for a couple than say a group of “the guys”.

  • Very homely and comfortable for a family stay. There were lots of thoughtful touches and many of the amenities and decor have recently been upgraded. Great location for day trips to Bay of Fires and Binalong. Our two toddlers were very excited about the bunk beds and slept through the night (which is rare for holidays). The house is only a quick 5min drive to the main part of town and checkin was easy. Highly recommend for families with young kids.

    Andrew2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • I love Anita's house so much! First of all, the living room is very spacious, with a large and comfortable sofa. My husband even slept on the sofa; the TV has NF, and there are many channels. There is a fireplace. Although I can't use it, it looks very comfortable. The large dining table in the restaurant is convenient for our family. The kitchen is open plan and there are two sets of baby tableware in the cabinet, which are very beautiful and well maintained. There are spices, cling film, kitchen paper towels and other supplies in the cabinet, and milk in the refrigerator. The point is two bedrooms with double beds, the bedding is very beautiful, there are many pillows and blankets, and they sleep very well. The other bedroom had four bunk beds. The children liked them, but because we didn't experience the experience of sleeping in the bed, I didn't let them sleep there in the end. Bathroom facilities are brand new and provide hand sanitizer, shampoo, etc. Yuba is warm. There is a separate laundry room with washer, dryer and drying rack. Favorite big backyard, can make children happy. I really want to buy it ~~~

Geat beach cottage on Tasmania's beautiful East Coast with fabulous new kitchen and bathroom and comfortable eclectic furnishings. Stone House is right on the bay with a fabulous deck for sunny days and beautiful stone fireplace for the cooler nights.
Stone House has 3 bedrooms and amenities downstairs and the upper floor is all living and kitchen space, opening onto the large deck. The house is very comfortable and is fully equipped. Guests have the house to themselves and also have the use of kayaks, mountain bikes, boogie boards, snorkelling and fishing gear. On arrival guests use a personalised code to access a small locker containing the house keys. We live some distance from the house so you will probably not see much of us. We will set up the house for our guests and will then be available by phone to help out with any queries or problems. The house is right on the bay and a short walk to the nearest boat ramp and beach. A little further on are a number of excellent beaches, both within the bay and on the ocean. The township of St Helens is 7 km away and has all the services you could need. It is a very pleasant 45 minute walk into town, much of it on a waterfront walking path. There are a number of cafes, galleries and interesting boutique/gift shops to make the walk worthwhile. You will need a car as public transport is limited in this quiet town. There is a small airport, serviced only by charter flights, a short distance from the house. Car hire is available in St Helens and there are bus services between the East Coast and Launceston but most visitors from outside Tasmania would hire a car on arrival at the Launceston airport and drive the 2 hours to Stone House. North of St Helens on the coast is Binalong Bay and The Gardens and the beautiful coast line of the Bay of Fires. On the Tasman Highway north of town are a number of attractions worth seeing. The Pyengana Cheese factory, the Pub in the Paddock and the St Columba Falls are all worth a look and all less than an hour from the house.
The house is right above the bay with just a small strip of coastal reserve and a walking path between the garden and the water. It is just a short walk to the nearest boat ramp and beach.

  • Had the absolute best time at Stone House. The upper level was so incredibly beautiful and made us feel so at home. The local area was also so welcoming and picturesque. Could not have had a better stay. Would recommend the 15 minute drive to Scamander for SWIMS for coffee and a small breaky and a picnic on the beach and also the WHARF restaurant for a waterfront dinner. Would definitely stay again.

Family holidays filled with sand, sun and sea, fishing rods, bikes, cricket bats, wetsuits, sand buckets and sun kissed skin - this is what Sarah's Cottage means to us. Explore, evoke and enjoy. This is a place to create family memories. Sarah's Cottage is all yours, and the neighbour's are mostly fellow holiday home owners and some of the shacks are made available to guests just like yourselves.
Sarah's Cottage is cosy for up to 6 guests allowing you to spend close time reconnecting with your loved ones. Our beds all have high quality mattresses and linen to ensure you have the most restful nights sleep. Bedroom 1 has a queen size bed (and possibly too many cushions) and the other bedroom has 2 sets of super comfy bunk beds. She has a well equipped country style kitchen, new bathroom, open plan dining and lounge. A huge outdoor entertaining area is located at the front of the cottage with a large outdoor table, bbq and comfy outdoor lounge perfect for snuggling up, enjoying your morning coffee or laying back and reading that book you've been trying to finish. It is well shaded and quaintly decorated and we encourage you to spend as much time as possible outdoors. It has an expansive lawn area perfect for a bit of back yard cricket (just mind the neighbours) Coffee, tea and basic provisions are provided and there are two grocers in nearby St Helens and a wide array of restaurants and Cafés. Sometimes the local area is quite, and sometimes it's a hive of recreational activity. Located one street back from Georges Bay esplande and recreation area. Short drive from local attractions including Peron Dunes, Bay of Fires, and the beautiful seaside hamlet of St Helens. If you have instagram, you can follow both our guests and our personal stays at @sarahscottagetas.
The iconic white sandy beaches, lichen-covered granite boulders, and crystal clear turquoise waters provide the perfect backdrop for all beach and water activities.

  • Samantha’s place is a really sweet renovated beach shack. It’s not very big but still is ok for a family of four with teenagers. Beautifully decorated in soothing tones that all co-ordinate! Lots of little touches - yoga mats, beach towels, coffee table books etc. Nice location with chooks next door? and the bay a block away. Recommend Fearless Freddy in Scamander for fabulous food

St Helens is approximately 2 hours drive from Launceston (166 km via Scottsdale) and approximately 3 hours from Hobart. It is the largest town on the east coast of Tasmania, and like most other east coast towns, is centred around the fishing industry. A deep-sea scale fishing fleet out of St Helens, and Georges Bay (on which St Helens was founded) has built a reputation for the quality of its crayfish and oysters and scallops. Game fishing is popular with Tuna, Marlin and Mako Sharks the most sought after catches. The town prides itself in its warmth and sunniness - the result of a microclimate produced by surrounding hills and warm ocean currents. Consequently St Helens is warmer than Melbourne in winter and enjoys an average of 22°C in February. Fishing from the beaches, sheltered bays and coral fringed reefs attract fisherman from far and wide who boast that St Helens is unsurpassed for its diverse range of fish stocks. Diving is another popular past-time, with crayfish and abalone the prized catches. Good beaches are located near to St Helens, and there are several surf beaches along the coast. It is possible to charter boats for marlin and tuna fishing. South of St Helens, Skyline Road provides a good coastal lookout. Swimming and surfing - The beaches around Georges Bay are ideal from swimming and surfing. The beaches on the southern side stretch from St Helens to St Helens Point. In entire bay has 50 km of shoreline. Such is the popularity of the area that it is estimated the population increases tenfold in summer. East of the town on the southern short of Georges Bay is the St. Helens State Reserve, where short walks are rewarded by spectacular coastal scenery. The Bay of Fires Coastal Reserve to the north of the town has similar natural beauty. North of St. Helens, Mount William National Park has an abundance of native flora and fauna.
  • Fabulous place to stay, has everything you need including gorgeous water views. Would definitely recommend staying at Fish Tales.

  • Lovely unit, convenient clean & tidy, just across the road from the water. Great communication from the host Debbie made it an easy place to stay.

    Patsy2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great view of the bay and beautiful breeze comes through. Host was very responsive and helpful. A perfect space to relax.

    Jeffrey2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great location right opposite the beach, lovely to stroll in the morning or evening - Debbie was most responsive when we had a query regarding check in too. We found the unit lovely and clean and fresh on arrival. The beds were very comfy and the other furnishings thoughtfully chosen. There is a great deck looking out over the water, and it was a relaxing place to stay for a few days with the kitchen well-resourced for home dining. Heaps of parking space for our dinghy too, and not far from a couple of boat ramps for those interested in fishing. All in all a very comfortable and relaxing stay!

  • This place is set up well for a family stay. We spent a week in the loactaion and had a great time. The view and facilities were very good. Our dogs enjoyed the secure large yard and out of the weather areas to rest. The owner was very friendly and very quick to communicate with. I am planning on staying here again

    James2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Debbie's two-unit house is across from the water, on a long spit of land just outside St. Helen's. We liked being near town, but outside it. Great accommodations and communication, including restaurant suggestions.

  • Very good cabin for a family trip on a budget. We were travelling in 6 adults, and it’s not always easy to find good sleeping arrangements. Confy beds and everything we needed for 2 nights driving through the east coast. We also saw many wallabies at night time. Very good location if you are planing your trip to bay of fires. I totally recommend.

  • Great location with great views. The accommodation was clean and worked beautifully for our group of two families. Janine, the host, was lovely. Awesome communication and very accommodating.

    Rick2019-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice and spacious accomodation with great amenities. Great location. Probably my own fault but hadn't realised it would be either the downstairs appartment or the upstairs. So had no view and no balcony/external dining area. Knowing this, I would definitely recommend.
