  • Beautiful views in a wonderful space. Loved sitting by the log burner and looking out over the beautiful Dartmoor surroundings. Very peaceful. Kitchen fairly basic with one hob - as you would imagine for a small place - just something to bear in mind if planning on cooking a lot like we did!

  • Set in a beautiful location with stunning views out across farmland and forests towards Chagford. We found it a very peaceful place to spend some time, and as the property backs onto the moor you can be out exploring within a few minutes. The annexe is cosy and clean, stocked with everything you would need for a short stay (including wood, eggs and milk). Simon and Jo were very welcoming hosts and more than happy to offer advice on where to visit.

(sometimes of clouds) be couldn't ask for more. a brilliant place, with Chagford a few miles away with excellent pubs and food. The place was very clean and the Hosts were very welcoming. It would be amazing in the summer having a glass of wine looking over the amazing views. Some amazing walks in the local area.

  • Lovely setting, spacious yet cosy place, loads of firewood. Joanne was very warm and friendly, and nice to have chickens running around outside! Would definitely stay again, thank you!

  • Simon’s place is so nice with amazing views and a cosy fireplace to really give it that countryside feel - the photos don’t really do it justice! Excellent communication throughout our stay, which was excellent because of the stormy weather. Simon kept us fully up to date throughout the day! Overall, probably the nicest stay I’ve had with Air BnB. Would definitely recommend to anyone and we will hopefully be back in the future!

  • Great base for exploring the local area. A perfect mix of being tucked out of the way (so peaceful and quiet with stunning views) yet still close enough to walk to the local village or just a few minutes in the car to the nearest town. We loved our stay here and would highly recommend.

    Frankie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful cottage in a beautiful setting! Amanda goes above and beyond to make the space so welcoming - our 3 year old loved the box of books and toys. We would love to come back and definitely recommend.

  • A fantastic location to explore Dartmoor or Devon with all the amenities you could ever need. The host is very welcoming and has excellent communication and will also go the extra mile to accommodate your needs. Will be staying again in the summertime.

    Paul2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Amanda and family were so welcoming and friendly. Couldn't have been more helpful. The place itself is unreal. It's been done to a very high standard, and is cosy and very well equipped. The welcome pack of bread, milk, fruit etc. was so handy, especially as I arrived on my own with no car to get to a shop. Incredible location for exploring Dartmoor and the fascinating, historic village of Sticklepath including Finch Foundry -- a must-see. I also recommend walking the Tarka Trail along the river to Belstone -- stunning. I'll be coming back to this place!

  • We had a very comfortable stay and Sarah (plus her family) were extremely welcoming & sincere hosts to us and our dog Gwen. Parking was straightforward, directions accurate & check in arrangements were sympathetically flexible to our long journey. The accommodation was really groovy, clean & comfortable. We loved the sunroom. Seating was comfy, there was a huge tv and although there literally was a raging storm outside (!) the place had a sense of cosiness about it. Breakfast provisions and choices were excellent. This is a great place in which to stay!

    Maria2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah and Blake’s place is very cozy and the shower is just heaven. The hospitality couldn’t have been better. Very happy to have been there. I would totally recommend it

  • A wonderful stay, Sarah's hospitality is second to none, nothing was to much trouble. Thank you

    Jane2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Booked as a dog friendly stopover but so much more - really comfy adjoining day room with access to garden. Hosts very welcoming. Walk in shower and comfy, firm bed. Would recommend to one and all.

  • Sarah’s place is warm, comfortable and welcoming. The room has everything you need and the common room is a great place to relax. Sarah was very helpful and easy to communicate with. She suggested local places to eat or go for hikes and was fantastic in accomodating my food sensistivities.

Little Moor Cottage is ideal for couples or a small family looking for that ideal countryside getaway. Adjoining the owner’s home, but with complete privacy, inside you will find a cosy sitting room complete with a wood burning stove, a well equipped kitchen, dining room, whirlpool bath and separate WC. One double bedroom can be found downstairs, and upstairs is another double with a smaller twin room accessed through it. Outside is a large enclosed garden with outdoor dining area.
During your stay, please feel free to explore the outside areas of my father's property beyond your garden gate where you will find a large nature pond, wildflower meadow, a swing and trampoline and various animals including sheep, ducks, chickens and three miniature Shetland ponies.
The village of Sticklepath is a short, flat walk away from the cottage, has a local shop and pub and is also home to the National Trust Finch Foundry. From the cottage, there are walks into the surrounding countryside and a small area of moorland opposite the cottage. Okehampton, the gateway to Dartmoor National Park, is just a short distance away, and as well as having a good selection of amenities, it has access onto Dartmoor where you can enjoy the dramatic landscape this National Park provides. There is also Okehampton Castle which is well worth a visit, or why not walk along the old railway to Meldon reservoir which has some stunning views. The location of the cottage makes it an ideal base from which to explore Cornwall and Devon. There are stunning beaches at Woolacombe and Sandymouth. Enjoy a day out at Hartland and visit the lighthouse, Hartland Quay and the historic fishing village at Clovelly. If gardens are of interest, you will find the RHS gardens at Rosemoor a delight and there are numerous National Trust properties in the surrounding area to enjoy. Other highlights in the local area include Castle Drogo, Roadford Lake, Dingles Steam Museum, golf, horse riding or why not hire a bike and explore the Tarka Trail? Exeter, Torbay and Plymouth can also be easily reached. Shop and pub 750 yards, restaurant ¾ mile.Apart from visiting wild and beautiful Dartmoor, there is so much else to see around the area. Most of the delightful villages around have an annual village fete; a real taste of English tradition. Just 3km away you can visit the annual Folk Festival in South Zeal (early August), or go to the new and exciting Chagstock Music Festival, held in July, 5km from the cottage.Devon has many historic houses open to the public. Our nearest is Castle Drogo, just 11km away; the last castle to be built in Britain, it is presently undergoing fascinating renovation projects. Surrounded by stunning woodland scenery, it is a great place for a day out. Famous beauty spots abound. Lydford Gorge (the deepest gorge in the Southwest) owned by the National Trust, is just 20km away, and a walk up to Higher Willhayes (start from Okehampton (6km)), the highest point on Dartmoor, will reward you with stunning views across Devon and beyond.

  • I had a wonderful 3-day stay at Kelly’s house. My room was clean and comfortable with a nice bed, tea and coffee making facilities and a few extra touches to make you feel extra special. The bathroom and shower were clean and high quality (instant hot shower, big soft towels). Kelly is a fantastic and friendly host and was there for any questions or needs I had and more. I also felt very welcomed by her friendly dog, who is also easily avoided if you aren’t fussed on dogs. The breakfast was amazing and beautifully presented with fresh berries and fruit, a croissant and tea/coffee among other things. This stay was beyond my expectations and I would 100% recommend it and stay again.

    Anna2020-03-03T00:00:00Z

Many people come to Dartmoor for the unrivalled moorland beauty. Tawburn House is situated just 200 metres from 2 long distance trails; the Dartmoor Way and the Tarka Trail. Steve is happy to recommend walks or cycle rides for all abilities and will also provide guided walking or cycling activities, if required. He needs no excuse to be out there in the great outdoors. Sticklepath has two traditional thatched pubs which will provide a welcome retreat after a hard day on the Moor and come very well recommended. You can drink a pint of local Dartmoor ale whilst waiting for a home-made pie. Or maybe Prosecco whilst you mingle with the locals and await your supper. There is also a village shop selling a range of goods including local produce. Sticklepath is also home to Finch Foundry, which is owned by the National Trust, and is the last working water powered forge in England. The market town of Okehampton is 4 miles away with all the amenities you would expect of a market town including 3 supermarkets. In terms of accessibility Tawburn is located less than 5 minutes from the A30 and the Cathedral City of Exeter is 20 miles distant for anyone looking for that city and country balance. We are also only 45 minutes from both the north and south coasts so in an ideal spot to enjoy many of the attractions that Devon and Cornwall have to offer.

Northlake is close to the northern entrance to Dartmoor. Devon has numerous attractions for visitors and, being centrally located in the county, Northlake is a good base for exploring it all. • In a lovely 1930s house, retaining the original atmosphere and attractive architectural details, but with every modern comfort, Pam and Simon are welcoming hosts: very helpful and hospitable. I stayed in the single room which was en suite with a shower over the bath. I spent a very peaceful night there and enjoyed the delicious breakfast - with plenty of choices. I would certainly return.

    Sue2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is an excellent proper B&B which is exceptionally clean with lots of nice touches. It is a great location about 1.5 miles from town (an easy path walk most of the way). A very interesting garden is worth a look. I would certainly stay there again.

    Brian2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Northlake is a lovely little B&B, very clean and tidy with thought put into guest stays (loved the home made flap-jack in the room!). Pam and Simon were great too, and advised on local services to make the weekend run smoothly. Breakfast was fabulous, and thankfully they were flexible with check-in so I could make the drive down from London in the evening. The room was great value and more spacious than I thought it'd be. I'd recommend this place and will probably be back if in the area.

    Mark2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful host and beautiful house. I stayed here on a work trip and it was a very relaxing experience and took all the stress out of my morning. It was far better than I expected because there some beautiful dogs and a home cooked breakfast.

    Ami2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic place on the edge of the Moor, perfect for my needs. The hosts are wonderful, welcoming me after a long drive, even recommending a good restaurant in Okehampton, the local town. I'd stay again.

    Ant2019-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • Pam made me feel very welcome and the breakfast was lovely, will most definitely be staying with them in the future

    Alan2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Enjoyed a very welcoming stay with Pam and Simon. Very accommodating hosts, comfortable accommodation and a superb breakfast. I was stopping over on a business trip and would not hesitate to book again when I’m in the area.

  • Cracking B&B on the edge of Dartmoor. Puts you within easy range of Okehampton, Tavistock and many of Dartmoor's nearby treats, like Brentor. Pam is the hostess with the mostess. The epic-scale breakfasts are worth the entry fee alone

The Potting Shed is small but perfectly formed for 1 or 2 people to stay in complete compact comfort. And it's dog-friendly! An entrance lobby for coats and boots leads into an open plan kitchen, living area and bedroom, plus a walk-in shower room. The village shop is 80m away and stocks everything you might need. Don't want to cook? The King's Arms pub is 50m away, a friendly local serving good pub food. Discounts for longer stays: 3 nights 5% and 7 nights 10%.
The Potting Shed is perfect for a short break or longer holiday and with our special discounts, the longer you stay the better the price! Whether you are a keen walker and want to tackle Dartmoor, are more of a stroller along rivers and lanes, or just want a base from which to explore the whole gorgeous county of Devon, the Potting Shed is ideal! It's compact but has everything you need. Well-equipped kitchen, big walk-in shower room and a very comfy bed. The kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge, hob, convection oven/microwave/grill, slow cooker, cafetiere, all cutlery, crockery and cooking pans and utensils. The lounge area has a TV with Freeview, an extendable dining table and a selection of books and games. There is also a small imitation log burner for extra cosiness on a winter's night! The bedroom area has a wardrobe and small chests of drawers and a very comfortable double bed. The walking here is fantastic! You can take a different route every day for a week right from the doorstep. Moorland, rivers, lanes, there's miles and miles to explore. Dogs and Dartmoor tend to go together and your well-behaved dog is welcome to stay with you. Your dog must be over one year old and you need to mention it at the time of booking. Please respect the furniture and decor and keep your dog clean and either in its own bed or use a throw to protect things. Dogs cannot be left unattended. If you are planning a walking break, do come prepared! You will need walking boots and waterproof gear. An OS map of the area is also recommended. There is lots of livestock on the moor and dogs MUST be kept under control.
South Zeal is a pretty moorland village with a strong sense of community. The village shop (80m) sells everything you need to cook for yourself (and more), or there are two pubs close by. The King's Arms (barely 50m away!) serves great pub food and is a really friendly local. If you can shop locally that would be great as local shops and businesses need our support. The village shop is also a Post Office so you can withdraw cash. Okehampton – 4 miles away – has 3 supermarkets, takeaways and a cinema! There are several other lovely small towns nearby such as Chagford and Moretonhampstead or take a longer beautiful scenic drive to Tavistock on the other side of the moor. Exeter is only half an hour away, straight up the A30, and Plymouth about 45mins.
  • The place was really clean and very cosy, can't really blame Julia for the very wet and windy weather, but the place was great, some amazingly thoughtful touches too, dog water bowl, little dog treats and shower gel, well stocked kitchen. The place is really well decorated and it was so nice to stay somewhere with a comfy mattress, excellent stay in a beautiful village and Julia was very lovely and hospitable.

    Michelle2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Another stay at the Potting Shed and as comfortable as before. Kept us cosy, warm and comfortable even with the very wet weather outside. Great location for exploring all areas of Devon. The Potting Shed is a delightful place to stay and relax. Many thanks.

  • The Potting Shed is the perfect little hide away in a lovely village. The host, Julia is brilliant. Great contact prior to arrival and friendly and helpful whilst there. The accommodation is the perfect size, it’s beautifully finished and well equipped with lots of homely touches. There are lots of walks nearby and a little country convenience store a couple of minutes walk away. Would definitely recommend.

  • Such a lovely tiny house! Although small, it doesn't feel small and has everything you could need including some really unique and thoughtful touches. We took our Collie with us and he was also very well catered for. Thanks Julia!

  • Perfect little base for exploring north Dartmoor. Beautifully laid out, and had everything I needed for my solo stay. Lots of clear and helpful local information was provided. After a windswept day on the moor it was lovely to come back to the peace and cosiness of the Potting Shed and relax. Thank you Julia.

    Catherine2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • The Potting Shed was an amazing find! Right next to two pubs and a shop, and ideal for exploring Dartmoor. Many recommendations from Julia in the welcome book/instructions and thoughtful additions of magazines that also suggest things and walks to do. The Kings Arms pub was great, spent New Year there and we were treated like locals who had lived there for years! Thoroughly recommend a visit. Julia was a great host who had thought of everything and went the extra mile when we needed anything (forgot to buy cooking oil and she gave us some!). Couldn’t ask for a better host and the space is well thought out and very tidy! Would definitely make a return visit in the future!

    Robyn2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great location in central South Zeal. Julia was a great host and very welcoming. The Potting Shed is small but perfectly formed, with everything you need for a short stay in a charming Dartmoor village.

  • We had the loveliest weekend break! Gorgeous accommodation, amazingly comfy beds, very cozy on a rainy day with a beautiful open fire. Shops close by and easy access into the heart of Dartmoor. Absolutely lovely - can’t fault a thing, we will definitely be back! Oh the tastiest cake on arrival - that went down a treat!! :) Thank you so much for a lovely stay! X

  • We had a great stay at Dishcombe cottage. Luke and Caroline were very welcoming and answered any questions we had promptly. The cottage really is lovely. It is very well equipped, clean, and cosey. The children enjoyed playing and exploring the outside areas. It was a fantastic base for us to explore Dartmoor and Devon.

  • A lovely stay in the idyllic hut

    Neil2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay here, a really cosy and lovely spot with some very thoughtful touches. The hut had everything we needed and despite its very convenient location, we felt totally away from it all. Very comfy bed too. Thanks so much for everything! X

    Lucy2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • An excellent and spacious sheep hut in a lovely meadow setting. There is a little walk up to the hut but this does give you plenty of privacy. The showers are also a bit of a walk away however there is a toilet 15-20 meters away. There are lots of lovely homely touches throughout, clearly a lot of thought has gone into this beautiful small space. I would definitely stay again!

    Lucy2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • A very cosy hut in a perfect location. Great to explore Dartmoor and reconnect with nature. We had a lovely weekend and felt very welcome there!

    Joanna2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay in the sheep hut! It was really cosy and had everything we needed. Chris was really friendly and we loved visiting the ducks, chickens, and being escorted to the hut at night by the little friendly cat! The basket of goodies on arrival was a lovely little touch - thank you!

    Hollie2019-08-28T00:00:00Z

Ambi is a long wheel based Renault Master which was converted in to our beautiful camper van in 2014. She lives in her own private, enclosed area. We are happy for your dog(s) to play in this area, but be aware, its not 100% escape proof so you will need to be vigilant. Ambi's focal point overlooks our farmland which sprawls on to Dartmoor and at various times of the year it will have mares and foals roaming around it.
The Inside Space: Ambi has a raised permanent 4'6" double bed to take advantage of the views of the moor through her many windows. It is equipped with a memory foam mattress, 100% Egyptian cotton bed linen, (micro-fibre, anti-allergy Duvet and two pillows (two more available if needed)). There are bench seating areas with optional dining table, lots of over-head storage areas as well as within the bench seats and underneath the raised bed. There is one gas hob. Ambi's electric hook up is connected so you will be able to use her two mains sockets and cigarette lighter charger with USB port adaption if needed. There is an EcoHeat S heater too so no need to worry about getting too cold or hot (not sure that happens too much in the UK!). You can set your desired temperature (Ranging from 60.8°F (16°C) to 98.6°F (37°C), and the speed at which it pumps out. The Outside Space: There is a self-contained toilet hut, "Loo With A Moor View" with a real loo and sink which supplies cold water. There is no shower and no hot water. There is a fire-pit area with two garden chairs and a table.
Location: We are located just 1/4 of a mile outside Whiddon Down which is a hamlet within the parish of Drewsteignton. Whiddon Down has a service station (with Subway and Spar shop), Travelodge, Hog & Hedge Cafe and The Post Inn pub. We are just minutes away from Okehampton which is one of the main gateways to Dartmoor, and in the other direction lies Chagford. Within a short driving distance there's Castle Drogo, Okehampton Castle, Spinster Rock, Fingle Bridge and numerous walking (Two Moors Way is approximately 2 miles away) and cycling routes (Granite Way is in Okehampton). Our neighbouring farm provides the setting for the annual Chagstock music festival, held in July.
  • Ambi was a quirky and fun stay in a most stunning location. Phil and Tina were really lovely hosts and quick to respond. All in all a great stay. I Thoroughly recommend it

    Anna2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Ambi is a great place to stay. Comfortable, cosy and in a lovely location. The loo with a view is a great little touch and Ambi was well kitted out. On arrival we had a nice chat and were shown the ins and outs of Ambi. We will definitely be coming back!

    Craig2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really nice experience staying in the Ambi, and Christina and Phil were really helpful, even dropping us off at the pub. Would definitely recommend!

    Leo2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot for spending time in and around Dartmoor or Exeter and surroundings. Christina was really helpful and welcoming. The campervan is lovely and she had put a heater in which kept it really toasty, which in January is handy! The host makes you aware that there is no running water in the van and no hot water/shower, but if you just want a warm, dry camping experience in a great location this is perfect! All essentials provided and even had proper coffee!!! Would definitely go again.

    Sarah2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect campervan experience without the hassle of trying to find a perfect spot to park! Tina had thought of everything to make sure our long weekend in Devon was as amazing as it could be. With tips on where to eat locally as well as places to visit a little off the beaten track, we could not have asked for more. Our dog also loved her stay. The hosts are such animal people, so it was very welcoming to have someone love our pooch almost as much as we do!

The private room is in a separate part of the house with its own access. It is a light, spacious room with an ensuite shower/bathroom. A microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster and tea/coffee making facilities are provided, plus breakfast basics.
The room is spacious and light, with a king-size bed so suitable for single or double occupancy. The ensuite bathroom has a shower, as well as a wash-basin and toilet.
This is a beautiful, unspoilt village within the National Park. As well as wonderful walks on our doorstep, there is horse-riding, fishing, golf and swimming nearby. Also the perfect base for touring Devon/Cornwall.
  • Perfectly situated for walks on the moor. The house is in the very pitoresque village of Belstone, situated on the very edge of the moor. Bob lent us a map and suggested some good walks on the moor and along the river. You can get here by bus from Exeter evert day of the week. Breakfast is provided and dinner can be had at the inn in the village, so only bring food for lunch. There is a small shop about a mile away.

  • Theresa hosted a participant for an event I was running nearby, and is a great host. I have had guests stay with Theresa before and they all say that the space is clean, private and restful. Its in a great location in peaceful countryside, and made beautiful and welcoming to guests... thanks again Theresa! :)

  • A lovely and comfortable bedroom .. In a very quiet place .... a breakfast with a special homemade bread ... we come back with pleasure in this place. it was our first experience airbnb ... thanks to Theresa and Bob ... the devon ... we love it ... this house is in the heart of the dartmoor ... Cornwall is not far ... to discover too

    Jean-Marie2019-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is a perfect place from which to explore the Moor. We hardly needed to use the car. We could even walk to the pub! Belstone is a lovely village.

  • Well worth booking, lovely room with thoughtful and responsive hosts.

  • Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

    Katesdad02019-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • We were made to feel very welcome here. Lots of lovely touches in the kitchenette like homemade bread, butter and jam, biscuits. There was orange juice and milk in the fridge and plenty of kitchen equipment. The location of this place is fantastic - you are in the village with its friendly pub and cute tea shop, but you are also right on the moor and can park your car up and forget about it. The room is bright and spotlessly clean with plenty of space and useful furniture. Two big velux roof lights give you most of your light but they have very effective blinds to make sure you sleep well. There is a view of the moor from the window in the door and a place to sit outside in the beautiful garden when the Dartmoor weather allows. We are already planning our next trip!

    Kate2019-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Theresa's B&B for three nights whilst on a hiking trip to Dartmoor and everything was great. A nice clean room with a en-suite and a small kitchen. Everything was clean, the bed very comfortable and the kitchen is equipped with a fridge, kettle, microwave and toaster. The hosts are extremely welcoming and keen to help should you need anything including suggestions of what to do around Belstone. The village itself is very conveniently located for anyone wishing to explore the northern part of Dartmoor. There is a local pub with good, fairly priced food.

  • If you’re looking for a quiet comfortable base for a holiday in or around Okehampton you can’t go wrong with this cottage. We really enjoyed our two nights here, and Ruth and Sheila have made this a cosy, spotlessly clean and well appointed place to stay, with everything we needed. There’s a fantastic view, and there’s plenty of room to sit outside to quietly enjoy it. There’s also an easy and pleasant walk down into town without having to use the road. So much to see and do in this lovely area and we look forward to visiting again.

The farm is situated high on Dartmoor in the remote location of Batworthy. Surrounded by moorland, close to the Mariners and Two Moors Way. It suits walkers, people that love the outdoors and quiet relaxation. Ideal for mini breaks, adventures and retreats. The farm is organic with wild flower meadows, woodland and river bank. Sheep, horses and dogs. Stone rows, Hut circles, Tors and a Stone circle all close by. 3.5 miles to the nearest village Chagford, which has many shops, pubs and cafes.
Twin bedroom with en suite bathroom has views looking out over Dartmoor. Friendly farmhouse kitchen where you can relax and chat to your host if you want. Informal sitting room with log burner and Netflix/TV. Breakfast is included in the price.
A truly unique place to stay right on Dartmoor surrounded by beautiful landscape full of ancient history. I can recommend plenty of places to visit/walks. The Farmhouse is within a quiet Hamlet up a private drive with no shops! The nearest place is the small town of Chagford with a variety of shops and places to eat or have coffee.
  • Marylou's farmhouse is the perfect place for discovering the wonders of Dartmoor. It's located in the middle of the Moor and the views are outstanding. It's a very magical place with its flourishing natural setting and lively animal life. You'll be surrounded by horses, sheep, dogs, and cats. Marylou is an incredible host, always so welcoming and accommodating, she was able to pick me up from the nearest town as I didn't have a car. She is a great guide and if you're interested in walking around the Moor, she will show you your way around the map and explain everything you need to know. I enjoyed the delicious breakfast she prepared as well as our dinnertime conversations, where I was able to learn a lot about the Moor and the surroundings. I greatly recommend staying at the farmhouse for a truly wonderful and incomparable experience!

    Serhii2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Very special place, travelling there was an adventure with streets getting narrower and narrower, felt like in "the Lord of the rings" :-) It was beautifull to take a walk through the Moor with Marylou and her dogs and after that to have dinner and a very interesting conversation with her and a friend at the old farm house table.

    Anja2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Marylou is a great and welcoming host and having lived on Dartmoor for most of her life she's a mine of local information. Her farm is at the end of a long series of lanes but don't let this put you off, it's well worth the drive! The scenery is magnificent and the accommodation is very comfortable.

Okehampton town centre. My home is a completely refurbished Victorian town house, two minutes walk from central Okehampton, with buses, banks, supermarkets, pubs and a cinema. Convenient for Cycle Route 27 and well situated for end-to-end and cross Devon cycling. Safe storage for bikes. Also within easy walking distance of Seiche Training and Okehampton College. There is tea and coffee in the room and a warm welcome on arrival. Continental breakfast is included and served in the breakfast room.
The room occupies the entire top floor of the house and is warm, light and airy. The bed is pocket-sprung, memory foam and superbly comfortable. There is a newly installed en-suite shower room and plenty of storage space. There is space for a travel cot although the house is not suitable for toddlers, due to the stairs. Similarly, if you have mobility problems, this is not the right location for you. Superfast fibre broadband reception and a desk/dressing table for working. There is also a 'smart' TV in the room. Bicycles can be locked in the garage overnight.
Okehampton is on the northern edge of Dartmoor which is a walking and cycling paradise. Cycle route 27 is a few minutes away. Okehampton College and Simmons Park are a 5 minute walk and Okehampton Castle is about 10 minutes walk. Finch Foundry, Castle Drogo and Morwhellham Quay are all within a short drive from here.

  • We have just got back from a weeks holiday here, my self, my husband and two children 11yrs and 14yrs, we had the best holiday we have had for a long time, Deryck was there to meet us at check in, he’s such a friendly guy, he showed us around the house and some local hot spots for tourist attractions on the map, he was so helpful, the house itself was just perfect, so homely and everything you need and more, great garden for the kids, okehampton town is just a short walk down the road with Waitrose, Lidl, & coop lots of little shops and pubs/restaurants, we loved our week here, it is a great base for exploring around the moors, also Devon & Cornwall, we visited bude, Boscastle etc we really enjoyed Lydford gorge, and a great walk around Meldon reservoir (amazing views). Delicious food served at the new inn okehampton, definitely a 10/10 for this accommodation & location, great memories made for us as a family 😊

  • This is a really spacious property with a homely feel to it. the garden is huge and ideal for a dog or children to run around in. There are three good supermarkets just five minutes walk down the hill to Okehampton and some nice bridleway walks up around the parish church. From the house and from the walks there are some nice views of the countryside around this north edge of Dartmoor. Being close to the A30 there is good access to the Exeter to the East, Plymouth to the South and Cornwall to the West. And there is, of course, good access to Dartmoor itself. There is also good access to the beaches and countryside to the north of Devon. Although the kitchen, as can be seen from the photographs, is dated in its fittings, it is well equipped. I think it was the first holiday home we had stayed in for a very long time that actually had sharp knives for food preparation. The little courtyard is a lovely suntrap and has a washing line which is also another bonus for those with a family. Deryck was very friendly and as well as guiding us around the house was able to recommend some local walks. He had even left us some tea and coffee makings and some biscuits for when we had arrived. We found the house comfortable and relaxing and will certainly consider another visit.

This is a light, quiet and modern first floor flat in a beautiful rural village. It is close to the river Taw and central to the coast and Exeter. Excellent for walking. The flat is a beautiful, clean and an interesting exhibition space of art and craft, an entrant of Devon Open Studios. North Tawton is 12 minutes from the A30 and 15 minutes from Okehampton and Dartmoor, surrounded by green. You have your own entrance and the flat to yourself. The flat has its own detached garden with seating.
The flat is comfortable, cosy and warm. Your space is a gallery entrance leading to a large lounge and open plan kitchen/diner. The bathroom has a bath and shower. There is a lovely single bedroom with a comfortable bed and dressing table. The lounge has a sofa bed. There are open views from the lounge and it is a bright space. Free wifi. • We had a wedding to go in Sampford Courtenay and this was the perfect location and distance to get there. The room was clean and catered for our needs. We stayed for one night and Simon was very helpful as a host. The breakfast is delicious and they even catered for a vegetarian full cooked breakfast as well as cereal, fruit salad, fresh coffee and lovely home made jams. Really recommend this place.

    Sukayna2018-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Pam was on hand to welcome me and I was later than expected due to very heavy traffic. The place is super efficient and everything was just fine for my purpose to climb the Tors. eg good bed and good shower. Breakfast was really good too with damson jam homemade. Lots of coffee and oj was fresh and lovely. Pam's instructions for the Tors were very helpful. There is an ice cream van in the car park at the reservoir and the girl is helpful to say which gate to go through, which is the one behind the loos turn left. A great tramp across the moors literally!! Wear good footwear. eg boots don't go up in trainers its not suitable as you will be crossing the moors!

The Shippon is a renovated farm building built of granite. It dates back 400 years. There are 3 bedrooms, a large living/dining room and a large kitchen. There's a family bathroom. The largest bedroom has a double bed, wardrobe, drawers and washbasin. There are 2 rooms with single beds and storage space and one has a shower cubicle and washbasin. The cottage is fully central heated. It's a safe area to park your car as there is a gate at the end of the driveway.
Coronavirus - in the hope of some improvements by mid-June, I am making The Shippon available for guests. In view of the fact the virus can live on various hard surfaces for around 24 hours I will leave the cottage empty for 2 - 3 days between guests. This will mean that during the summer months there will be less likelihood of being able to make a booking from Saturday to Saturday. Obviously, all surfaces will be cleaned thoroughly between guests but nothing is going to be ideal right now. Due to social distancing, unfortunately I may not be able to be as helpful as I normally try to be when guests arrive. The Shippon is right on the northern edge of the beautiful Dartmoor National Park. If you enjoy walking or cycling, the moor offers you a vast area of unspoiled rugged landscape. We are in the middle of Devon, with easy access to Exeter and both the north and south coasts of Devon and Cornwall.
The moorland village of Belstone is 1 mile from The Shippon - a great place for walking or enjoying a meal in the pub or a maybe a cream tea (not open every day). Right opposite The Shippon is a footpath and bridle path that leads to Belstone or to the village of Sticklepath, taking you through the picturesque Skaigh Valley. Our nearest town is Okehampton (3 miles away) where there are supermarkets, pubs and restaurants. There is a shop and very good restaurant at the local service station.
  • Jackie was a fabulous host and we loved staying here! The house was cozy and there was plenty of hot water. Jackie also went the extra mile to accommodate a family member who left some amenities for us. This location is perfect, we were visiting family in Okehampton, which is only minutes away. It is also located close to the A30 so that you can conveniently go off for sight seeing. It was beautiful and quiet, and we would definitely book here again.

    Paul2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • It's a lovely place; very handy for the A30. It had everything we needed for a few days stay. Useful to have the 2nd shower (though an 2nd loo would be useful as well). Very peaceful, and well placed for those areas of Devon that we went to.

    Emma2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great weekend, the location was very good and the hospitality was fantastic. I would definitely go back again

    Roger2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage in a great location. Jackie was extremely welcoming and informative.

    Steven2019-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Super cottage, larger than the photos and description suggested. It’s location was ideal for us, but it was made better by our host, Jackie and her husband warm hospitality. We’ll be booking again.

    Pip2019-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • A beautifully-appointed cottage with everything you could need. A friendly and helpful host who goes the extra mile to make your trip a memorable one. Highly recommended

    John2019-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • It's an ideal property for a stay on the edge of Dartmoor. A good amount of space, extremely high standard of cleanliness, excellent heating system if staying out of high season, really friendly and helpful hosts, brilliant countryside walks from the front door. Perfectly placed if you need the town amenities of Okehampton. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and are sure to return.

    Gareth2019-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely house and a wonderful location with very helpful and accommodating hosts. We especially appreciated the decorations, coming as we did over Christmas. We had a six-year old and we also appreciated the effort Jackie made for her (nice duvet cover etc)

Our home is a comfortable and stylish granite Devon Longhouse in the sleepy Dartmoor village of Throwleigh. The house was originally built as the village Rectory in the late 1800's and is set just half a mile from the open moor, boasting some fantastic views. Situated 3 miles from Chagford (which offers great independent shops, pubs & eateries) and 8 mins from A30 Whiddon Down. Perfect location for a relaxing few days break exploring Dartmoor, or as an overnight stop en-route to Cornwall
Throwleigh is a beautiful sleepy Dartmoor village, with an ancient church and pretty thatched cottages. Visitors are drawn to the quiet country lanes and great walking country of this lovely village, situated on the fringe of the moor. The Mariners's Way runs through part of the parish and the whole area is criss-crossed with granite stone lined hedge banks, hollow ways and heather & gorse covered moorland. Dartmoor ponies, sheep and Highland cattle graze the moor and can be found wandering the nearby lanes. Throwleigh is perfectly situated just an 8 minutes drive from the A30, 15 minutes to the small town of Chagford; yet nestled in idyllic peaceful Dartmoor countryside. Guests can relax in a very light and spacious double bedroom, furnished with antiques. Bed is made up with beautiful 400 thread count Egyptian cotton bedding . There is a large en-suite with a rain shower. Tea & Coffee making facilities in bedroom. Guests have personal use of a cosy sitting room with a wood burner (winter months), TV & DVD Player. WiFi is available in the Sitting & Dining rooms. There is plenty of off-road parking. Guests are served a delicious breakfast, from a Full English, Smoked Salmon & Scrambled Eggs, Boiled Free Range Eggs with Sourdough Toast or Continental with Fresh Fruit and a selection of freshly Baked Pastries. Breakfast is served in our dining room or if weather permits enjoying the view from the terrace.
Throwleigh and nearby Chagford are in the heart of Devon and lie on the edge of the legendary Dartmoor National Park and is close to the beautiful River Teign. Chagford is a famous Stannary town, with an exciting and vibrant history. Chagford is a small town offering guests a fabulous range of independent shops, 4 pubs and range of places to eat.
  • This is a fantastic Air B'n'B. Such a beautiful room, in a wonderful house, in an amazing part of Dartmoor. Best night's sleep I've had in some time, and a delicious breakfast. Can't fault it. Brilliant value. Delightful host.

  • What a fabulous home in a stunning location. Stella made us ever so welcome and our room was absolutely gorgeous. Everything was spotlessly clean and the bed was fabulous! • This ensuite room really exceeded our expectations! It was a pleasure to communicate to Stella, she was very helpful, always available, and gave us a lot of great advices. English breakfast in the morning was awesome! The place itself is situated in a Dartmoor National Park, which is a beautiful area to explore. The bed was very comfortable and soft, towels were great, too. Me and my wife really recommend to stay there.

    Feliks2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • I almost have too much to say about our brief but wonderful stay at Stella's beautiful home that it is difficult to know where to start. My booking was very last minute but Stella responded instantly and very helpfully to my requests. We were staying in the area to attend a family wedding, but delays on our journey meant we arrived with very little time to spare and Stella thoughtfully insisted on driving ahead of us to the church to make sure we arrived on time. Our rushed arrival meant that I could only fully appreciate the quality and luxury of our accommodation on our return much later that day. The bedroom is large and elegantly furnished with a beautifully appointed en-suite shower room. Sinking into the super comfy bed after our long hectic day felt like heaven. In the morning we were greeted by the most stunning views across the moors together with the smell of home cooked breakfast wafting up the stairs. Breakfast is served in a large private dining room and was generous and delicious. I have already recommended Stella's Bed and Breakfast to several friends and cannot wait to return ourselves. Exceptional.

  • There isn't a bad word to say about this place! It was absolutely spotless, all the amenities you could need, and the included breakfast is a great touch. The location is perfect if you want a cute cottage secluded from busy areas! Would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone who is visiting the area.

  • Di was a great host, quick communication from the start and we loved all the little touches! We felt we had a lot of privacy but could ask if there was anything we needed. Gorgeous setting, lovely comfortable room and the breakfasts were delicious!

  • Lovely place to stay in a lovely area. We were there for a wedding and were late due to traffic so Di made check in flexible, first to allow us a bit early before the wedding started, then self check in late at night when we had to divert straight to the venue. We then had a lovely lie in and breakfast hamper delivered to the door. As if this wasn’t enough, when our taxi failed, they drive us to our car. Perfect hosts.

  • Great hospitality and attention to detail. Breakfast was exceptional.

    Elizabeth2019-07-07T00:00:00Z

  • Di and Dan couldn’t of been more welcoming and friendly, my partner and I felt instantly at home! The wonderful little touches made the trip even better with little welcome messages and a beautiful personalised breakfast hamper! The cottage is set in such a peaceful and beautiful setting, with lots to do! The bed, bedding and pillows were an absolute dream, especially after walking 30 miles over Dartmoor! Di and Dan have thought of absolutely everything and the stay couldn’t of been better! I would definitely recommended staying at this beautiful cottage!

A lovely, light spacious annexe for 2 people set in the foothills of Dartmoor National Park, yet in easy reach of a small market town. Our annexe has a private entrance, studio style living area with 2 beds, separate fully equip kitchen & bathroom. See below for the great things to do from this spot! There is a great Gym called Future Bodies 1 mile away that are happy to accept guests at £7 per day pass or £15 per week. I include tea, coffee, milk, bread, butter, jam & Muslei for your stay.
The annexe is a lovely light and airy space, with a separate kitchen and bathroom. It is south west facing, so has lovely views of the sunsets. It has a boot room for muddy boots and wet coats, plus a great lobby to pop your bags/cases in or bikes if you wish! There is plenty of wardrobe space too. You are completely private from the main house and in an amazing area to explore the delights of Dartmoor and surrounding area, not to mention beaches on both the north and south coasts. This is a lovely location to take some time out and explore Devon. The Granite way is a 5 minute cycle from the door, winding it's way to Lydford. This 12km ride offers unrivalled views of the moors from the Meldon Viaduct. Long walks and cosy village pubs are less than a 10 minute drive, and the coast is a mere 40 minutes to one hours simple journey away. The local town offers all the amenities you would need, selling local produce, swimming pool, gym and cinema. There are many great fishing spots in the area too, so we often host families where a part of the group go fishing and are then joined by everyone at a local pub to the fishing spot! Also only 35 minutes from the historical cathedral city of Exeter, which boasts a newly refurbished museum, many delicious eateries, the lovely river Exe to go canoeing/kayaking or cycling along, or simply browsing the shops and ally ways.

  • Good location for walks on Dartmoor, short walk into Okehampton. Great to have off road parking. The property was clean and spacious. I agree with the reviewers have commented that the decor is dated and the WiFi signal wasn't strong. Overall, good value for money and I'd recommend booking with Jo.

  • Great studio apartment. Ideal for exploring Dartmoor and surrounding countryside. Comfortable and welcoming; we really enjoyed our stay despite the Dartmoor weather! We found the indoor secure bike storage a bonus.

    Valerie2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Nice annex with plenty of room. Nice touches from Jo who is responsive and flexible.

    James2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • A delightful annexe, spacious, comfortable. Good location, a few minutes’ walk from centre of Okehampton, and Dartmoor a few miles by car. A good kitchen, a good shower and hot water, the annexe was well stocked with leaflets about places to visit etc. Jo responded quickly to queries and was very helpful.

    Jennifer2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is very spacious, perfectly clean, and with really nice homely decor and little touches. Perfect location for going up onto Dartmoor. You will thank yourself for booking here. Cheers Jo!

  • What a lovely little annex! About a 5 minute walk into the centre of Okehampton and easy access back to the main roads to head elsewhere around the county. The place was absolutely spotless with fantastic complimentary granola 👍🏽

Perfect getaway for two. Comfortable, well equipped accommodation with stylish interiors and great views. Explore rugged Dartmoor, its pretty villages and moorland towns. Easy access to Devon coastlines, Cornwall and the vibrant city of Exeter.
The Apple Studio offers you an open plan space with a comfortable sitting room, dining area and well equipped kitchen with two ring electric hob, fridge, combination microwave/convection oven & grill. Area to take off your boots and hang your coats. Pretty double bedroom, with wardrobe/shelves, dressing table leading into an ensuite shower room with spacious luxury power shower cabin. We don't have TV but do have a TV monitor/DVD player and a great selection of films including some classic movies. Wifi connected so if you bring your own laptop or iPad you can watch 'live' TV or iPlayer etc. Netflix Cupboard full of games. The front elevation has three glazed French doors all opening out onto the verandah with stunning views of the valley and Dartmoor beyond. The studio has been created from an existing (almost derelict) structure which had an interesting Eco history. Where possible it has been built, furnished and equipped with reused, recycled, upcycled, secondhand and refurbished furniture and materials. The larch cladding on the front was sourced and cut from Gidleigh woods which can be seen from the studio. No air miles here, just a couple of miles by tractor! You will have to book to find out more! A perfect place to unwind with a glass of wine, relax, listen to the birdsong and enjoy the tranquility. Although we don't usually accept children we think it is ok to bring a baby as long as you can provide a travel cot. The studio does have a raised verandah so toddlers/crawlers must be under close supervision. If you want to bring an older child drop me a note and we can discuss what we can do. Laundry provision can be available - again talk to me about it and I will see what I can do. Everything is up for discussion! Same with dogs! The verandah has stunning views with a table and chairs for your 'sundowner'.
The studio is set amongst lush valleys, ancient woodlands and meandering river walks all within Dartmoor National Park. Chagford is the nearest village where you will find pretty thatched cottages, cosy welcoming pubs with log fires and quirky independent shops. Gidleigh Park the award-winning 2* Michelin restaurant is nearby. Dartmoor Way Cycle Route passes the door. Easy access to Devon and Cornwall coasts. Exeter City - Devon's county town 20 miles away. Easy access to A30, A38 and M5.
  • We loved our stay at the Apple studio. The area is stunning - even in early February the view of the valley (with one visible house) was lovely, and sitting on the veranda in the morning with the birds and a hot chocolate was so peaceful. We were able to do a great, long walk around nearby tors and stone circles, walking from the door to the start as stated in one of the maps in the studio, stopping off at the Northmore Arms up the road on the way home for a cosy pint by their roaring fire (such a friendly local pub). The woods and brook just down the road are so pretty, too. Chagford is close by, with loads of pubs and cafes, a deli (get a quiche!) and shops, including a fairly swanky alcohol shop. We stopped at The Globe Inn on the way home for a massive and tasty roast, by another huge open fire. Cleverly, stylishly and thoughtfully laid out, the studio had everything we needed for cooking decent meals both evenings, and was a warm and comfortable haven for reading and relaxing when storm Ciara hit. Jane was super friendly, welcoming us, giving us tips and offering that we could stay rather than travel during the storm. If we hadn’t had to leave for work I’d have stayed all week. Thank you Jane (and David and Alfie)!

  • Lovely tranquil spot and Jane gave us some great tips about local places to visit. The space itself was spotless and nicely done - couldn't recommend it highly enough!

  • This little studio is a true delight; extremely cosy and practical. Location wise; a perfect place for repose in addition to being a great place to explore the local moorland and surrounding natural beauty.
