  • One of the nicest places we've ever stayed! Beautiful, comfortable and clean! Very helpful host who was extremely quick to get back with any questions. We would stay again for sure!!

  • Everything about this trip exceeded our expectations. Anne goes out of her way to make every aspect of your stay as seamless and comfortable as possible. We especially appreciated access to the outdoor grill on the lovely patio decorated with twinkly lights, and had the best night ever just grilling, relaxing, turning on the fireplace in the cottage and watching netflix on the flatscreen TV.

    Emma2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cozy and gorgeous cottage. The history behind it and the main house is incredibly interesting. It's location is absolutely beautiful set next to a stream with a pasture behind it. The kitchen was fully stocked and made meals in the cottage easy to create. We appreciated that the dishes were run through the dish washer instead of us hand washing them. In other air b&bs we have had to rewash dishes before using them due to uncleanliness, so it was great to know the dishes were fully cleaned and disinfected between guests. The seasonal decorations were lovely and made the place feel like home. The fireplace was the winner in our stay and was incredibly cozy. We visited the local Ramseur battlefield and National Historic Park of Cedar Creek and Belle Grove. There are great local places to eat nearby including a brewery and a Doggery (and burgers). We also hiked the Buzzard Ridge trail about 30 minutes from the cottage.

    Laura2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Anne's quaint cottage is just as beautiful as the listing appears!

The Dome is over 800 sqft with an 8ft tall ceiling at the middle.  The Dome is equipped with a zipper door and has a canvas cover with windows and screens and features a large bay window that allows views of Little North Mountain and a full view of the farm.  There is a solar exhaust fan and wooden floors as well as a queen bed with linens and some causal seating.  There is no electricity or running water and no WIFI. We do provide solar-powered and battery-powered lights.
The Dome is located in a large grassy area with ample space near a creek.  You can pitch additional tents (not provide) near the Dome for $10 each. There is easy road access and on-site parking.  You are welcome to explore the farm along the mowed paths.  Please be aware that we do have cattle on the farm, so do not open any gates and stay clear of the fences as they may well be electrified. Outside, there is a fire pit and seating area as well as a grill and a dining area.  Some firewood is provided and there is additional firewood available for purchase on-site.  We also provide complimentary local beer or wine, as requested.  Lastly, we are in the process of building modern outhouse near-by with a toilet and sink and a solar shower. In the meantime we have a very clean portapotty but no shower facilities. Disclaimer: If it has rained a lot in the past few days the area will be muddy, please plan accordingly!
  • Our weekend at the dome was amazing. Remy and Jeremy are wonderful, responsive hosts. The dome was very cozy and comfortable despite the rain and low temps. We took advantage of the fire pit, the grill (with delicious steaks from the farm), and Remy's decadent popovers for breakfast. Can't wait to go back!

  • We loved our stay at the Dome! It was such a cozy spot and the hosts were very responsive to any questions. Thank you!

    Greg2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Such an amazing space. Decorated beautifully and secluded. It’s such a romantic space. We had a great time just drinking beer around the fire. I’d highly suggest this place for anyone just looking to get away :)

  • My fiancé and I came here to celebrate our engagement, and was a surprise for her. We had a great time and loved the dome. It was warm and cozy and loved how pet friendly it was—our dog loved running around the fields! There were some thoughtful touches that made our stay even better. We will be back!

    Laura2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at the dome despite the cold (mid 30s) and wet weather. The dome is entirely waterproof and the heater and blankets keep it warm enough. Perhaps the most thoughtful touch was the carbon monoxide detector (I had brought my own just in case)! Good to have when using gas in an enclosed space. Highly recommend first arriving during daylight hours if possible. The entire area is quite dark at night, and if it’s been cloudy the solar lights won’t be on! Watch out for the fence :) The dome is near a small gravel road but quite far from the busy highway. An occasional car would drive by but it didn’t bother us. Overall it is a great place to stay when you’d like a short quiet getaway. The dome is quite large and has plenty of thoughtful amenities. The flashlights and lanterns were especially helpful. The fire pit and grill area look nice, and we hope to return when it isn’t raining to use them! Remy was available if needed and responds to messages quickly. Go check out the dome!

  • Relaxing weekend getaway despite unseasonable cold temperatures! We enjoyed the comfortable and warm bed, picking up BBQ from New Star Market for a picnic outside the dome, a fun library book sale downtown, browsing the Strasburg Emporium, and a trip to Star in the Valley Estate Winery with our dog. The Christmas decorations in the dome were a fun surprise! Host was very responsive to all communication. We can't wait to be back when it is a little warmer!

    Reagan2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Dome is an incredible space to get away. There are so many little touches to make you feel at home and comfortable. Highly recommend for anyone looking for something a little different

    Sean2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Dome was the perfect getaway from the city. It was a chilly night, but with the propane heater and extra blankets we were cozy and warm all night. We really appreciated all of the thoughtful touches and quick responses. We definitely recommend visiting Star in the Valley Estate Winery less than 10 minutes away. It was the perfect addition to the star gazing theme.

Our rustic river cabin is just feet from the beautiful Cacapon river. We have a huge wrap around screen porch. The beds are comfy, the kitchen is well stocked and the bathroom was completely remodeled in April of 2019. Pets are welcome to join you. We have fishing poles and 3 kayaks (available to rent), as well as a bbq grill. There are Adirondack chairs by the river bank for your enjoyment and a fire pit. This cabin is not secluded. The river parallels the road and you will hear vehicle noise.
Our cabin, built in 1935, started life as a hunting cabin. It has been updated since then, including a bathroom remodel in April of 2019, but still maintains its rustic charm. The fireplace is large and provides a romantic ambience. The wrap around porch, with a porch swing and several rockers, is the perfect place to sit and watch the river.
The Cacapon River parallels Route 259 (a 2 lane road), so you will hear traffic noise. Our cabin doesn't sit right on the road, but this is not a secluded cabin in the woods. It is really conveniently located for a trip in to Wardensville or access to hiking areas.
  • We have stayed in Jeana’s cabin many times and our latest visit did not disappoint. The cabin has a fantastic fireplace that makes it a really great atmosphere and it is stylishly decorated with second hands and antiques. Jeana let us know about bar-ish which is every Saturday night at The Trading Post in Wardensville and we stopped in for a few drinks and games. We really appreciated that she let us know about it ahead of time so we could plan to go. Overall it was a great time as always. If you’re on the fence about whether to book this cabin...just do it...you won’t regret it!

    Amy2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place! The cabin was a beautiful West Virginia original with modern amenities. Fireplace, fire pit and the huge screened-in porch overlooking a beautiful stretch of river were amazing. We’re already planning our next trip back.

    Kaylee2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • remote feel, but plenty close by; great little town of Wardensville; loved the fire pit by the river; felt like Laura Ingles Wilder sitting by the fireplace at night!

    Bonnie2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I always have a great time at this cabin. Very relaxing and cozy. :D

    Todd2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Jeana’s cabin is the perfect escape for a nice, quiet weekend away. Jeana was extremely responsive and accommodating. The cabin is cozy and comfortable, and is situated nicely on the river. The fireplace is amazing, and we pretty much camped out in front of it and read and watched movies all weekend. The cabin is very clean and has everything you need if you want to stay in and cook for yourselves as options are relatively limited in the immediate area.

    Kyle2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • What a great cabin in the woods for a weekend getaway! It only took 1 1/2 hours from Nova. If you are looking to reconnect with nature, hike, walk up and down the river bed, fish, have bon-fires, cook on the bbq, get the dog out, this is your place. It’s rustic, but perfect in every way. Major bonuses were: wrap-around screened in porch overlooking the river, in-door wood fireplace with as much wood as you can fathom, outdoor fire pit with chairs overlooking the river, charcoal grill with everything you need...comfy bed...Jeana really put a lot of time into making this an easy and curated experience.

    Becky2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was amazing, beautifully positioned over the Cacapon river and very homey inside. The kitchen was extremely well-stocked and blankets and firewood were abundant. We enjoyed the grill and fire pit. Perfect for a cabin getaway, no complaints and highly recommended!

    Jeremy2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is a wonderful get-away. The views of the river and the firepit are lovely. The porch provided an unexpectedly wonderful place to hang out-- especially for our two kitties. They were soo happy there. We visited between Christmas and New Year's and the cabin had a little decorated potted tree and a banner across the fireplace to add some holiday cheer. That, the ample firewood for the beautiful fireplace, the well-equipped kitchen, the updated bathroom, and the comfy bed with feather duvet really made it incredibly homey and relaxing for me and my daughter. Will definitely be back.

Welcome to Deer Rapids Retreat. This charming cabin is nestled on a large piece of land, lots of trees, open grass field and the comforting sounds of the Shenandoah River just feet away from your screened in porch. Enter via the wrap around deck to the screened porch. The river will be pulling you back out side fast, but you can relax in the living room, or grab a meal in the equipped kitchen. The blender awaits your decision. Odds are you will grab a kayak or canoe and head to the water
On the main level you will find a dining table, living room, kitchen, bedroom and full bath with laundry. Main bedroom has twin over full bunk beds. Upper level has a loft with 2 twin beds and the master bedroom with king bed and private deck facing the river. These spaces share a half bath and are accessed via the spiral staircase.
This private community has been the best find and we have been part of it since the 80's. You can take a short float in a tube from our other home, or a long float to the bridge you have to cross to get to our little piece of paradise. Deer Rapids Retreat wont let you down. The small mouth bass fishing is amazing and water is crystal clear and inviting. Or venture around the area and check out the breweries and multiple vineyards around. With so much to do you will want to come back. The Bridge you cross to get here is down river less than 3 hours floating, Park a truck there to bring back the gear. Use the River and water toys at your own risk. The river is shallow, but still a river. By renting this house, you agree to hold harmless the owners for any water accidents.

"The Smithy" is a great place to stay with friends or family for a nice, relaxing stay in the Shenandoah Valley. Originally a blacksmiths shop in the 1800's, "the Smithy" has been owned by the Hupp family since the 1930s. The house is within walking distance to a number of Strasburg's restaurants, antique shops, the town park, and river walk. And a short drive to the many hiking trails in Fort Valley.
"The Smithy" offers a vintage, homey feel but includes a newly remodeled bathroom, washer and dryer, updated kitchen, and central heating and air.
The neighborhood is comprised of several very kind, elderly couples as well as younger families with children. We just ask that guests respect the neighbors and keep noise to a minimum after 10pm.
  • Really enjoyed this space. Myself and a few friends stayed for a weekend and all had plenty of space to spread out and write.

The rooms were clean, linens and bedding readily available, and appliances all present and useable. The touches in the home were very thoughtful and we felt right at home. The couches in particular was incredibly comfortable.

We loved the hot tub with the fantastic view, and the kids had a ball playing games together in the basement. The basement is a very big, comfortable, and fun space in this home, and I would highly recommend it especially to anyone who has kids. We would definitely consider staying here again.

  • The Blue House is a must stay. It was very clean and comfortable. We really appreciated the coffee and all the other amenities and it’s the perfect spot for kids. Susan was super easy to communicate and provided lots of excellent recommendations. The area is gorgeous with lots of amazing places to check out near by.

  • Susan’s place was amaaaazing. It was so cozy and chic + there’s so much to do just in and around the property with all the land and cool amenities she’s set up around the house. Also, she was a great communicator. 10/10

  • Everything about Callie's place was wonderful. Our family of 5 had enough room to sleep, cook, play games, and chill outside. The setting next to the river was beautiful. The house was extremely clean and very well stocked, it was very easy to cook meals. Zero complaints here!!

    Janey2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is located in a beautiful, quiet area only a few minutes away from the historic areas of Front Royal and Strasburg. Everything you will probably need is provided. Anything you could want is nearby. The hosts were very caring and responsive to what we needed for a pleasant stay. Communication with them was easy, as with friends. I will book a stay there again if possible and an opportunity to return to the area in the future happens.

  • This house was the perfect location for a relaxing weekend getaway. It's surrounded by woods and had a fantastic view of the river from the screened porch. It was clean and had everything we needed to cook meals and build a fire. Check-in was easy and Herb was kind enough to give us a call to make sure we got in with no issues and to give us a few tips about the house.

    Agnes2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great location and facilities - not too far from things to do, but nestled in a quiet and lovely spot surrounded by river, trees, and mountains.

  • A wonderful cabin for a weekend getaway. The cabin is steps away from a slow moving, shallow river where you can spend the day tubing, fishing, reading, and chasing crawfish. The house has a screened patio for reading and dining and separate desk with a great grill. Everything was clean and the hosts were great! Perfect for a weekend escape!

  • What a cool house! The location is very easy to find. Dillon is a great host. This is a home, not just a house. It's open and welcoming with comfy couches and chairs. The decor was modern and made it feel like a 5 star hotel. The towels and sheets are soft and the a/c is cold! We felt like we were at a friends house. We felt at home the minute we walked in. And they have great pups to play with!!!! We'll be back for the Yard Crawl next August.

  • Samantha's house was perfect for a Thanksgiving getaway for our family of 6 (mom, dad, and 4 teens). Everyone had plenty of room to sit together for meals, games, or to watch a movie, and also plenty of space to spread out when they needed some space. We loved the location - 5 minute drive to a beautiful, scenic hike (Tuscarora Trail - Eagle Rock Trailhead) and easy 15 minute drive to Strasburg for dinner. Gas station and convenience store were even closer. Yard was great for throwing a football around, and we loved meeting the friendly donkeys. For an "old farmhouse", the place was VERY clean! We had no complaints whatsoever about the condition of the home. Very well-equipped kitchen - we were able to prepare a full Thanksgiving feast with no problem finding pots, pans, serving dishes, etc. There was even a hard boiled egg platter! :-) Thanks for providing a lovely experience for our family.

    Renee2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great farmhouse, good location and very nice hosts. We had a terrific time. Highly recommended.

    Nicholas2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Samantha's home. All the amenities we needed were there, and Samantha was easy to communicate with. There were some small quirks you get with an old home, like not the longest-lasting hot water, and the house was also near the road so there was a bit of noise. But overall we were very comfortable and really enjoyed our long weekend there.

    Laura2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Holstein Hideaway! We were greeted by donkeys when we arrived and enjoyed all the nice decorative touches in this old farmhouse. We spent half a day at the Marker-Miller Orchards and hit a winery as well. Historic Winchester is only about 20 minutes drive and there is lots to see you there! We Appreciated the fact that there was a gas station with food items and fresh eggs only 4 miles up the road. Samantha’s kitchen is fully stocked in case you want to cook as we did. She also provided local, fresh drinking water which was great! The farmhouse is just off a fairly busy road with fast cars but we spend most of the day out so didn’t mind. There was Plenty of bedding and we were happy to be able to use our Netflix on the TV in the living room area. Of course, the area in the fall is wonderful and we enjoyed quite a few Mountain Drives nearby. The fall colors were perfect! Definitely recommend a stay here.

  • Samantha is very personable & easy to communicate with. Her home is very clean & comfortable. We don't have little kids anymore, but I thought the toys & books available for little kids was very thoughtful for those that do. Check in was easy. It is in the country, yet close enough to towns & other things to do. We really enjoyed our stay & would definitely recommend

  • This was a really neat house. It is really old. The twin beds weren't the greatest for all the adults in our group. I think it would be a better place for a family of not all adults. But it was a great place to relax and have fun over all. Certainly a good value.

Beautiful historic home walkable 2 blocks to local breweries, restaurants, ice cream, antique shops & other fun shopping experiences. This B&B is perfect for cyclists "Bike & Bed" or those wanting to unwind and relax. Lots of room to just hang out - whether on our wrap around porch or stone patio. We serve a nutritious breakfast consisting of local breads, nut butters, egg dishes, fresh fruit. We have a wealth of knowledge of the local area.
The Hopewell House Bike & Bed is the culmination of Alice & Kevin's love of people and cycling. Traveling from the DC area for years to ride their bikes in a safe and less congested area. They fell in love with the Shenandoah Valley – the beautiful scenic roadways, the people, the food, and the fresh air while pedaling miles throughout the valley. They began searching for a house from which they could ride their bikes out of the driveway into the beautiful valley. They were looking for a weekend place that would become their forever home. Retiring with nearly 70 years of combined federal service, Alice & Kevin decided to share their home and the valley with cyclists and their friends and family. Their hope is people enjoy the beauty of valley, slow a bit to relax and take a break from the daily hustle and bustle. You don't have to cycle to stay - but if you do enjoy exercising Alice & Kevin can accommodate you with a gym pass to Anytime Fitness just 2 miles from our home.
Strasburg is a lovely small town with fun shops, delicious restaurants and breweries. We have several wineries nearby - 3 within a 5-10 mile radius. The Shenandoah river access is nearby. Cycling just outside the front door.
  • Alice is an amazing host! She is knowledgeable about the area and provides great tips and advice for things to do that are tailored to your needs and interests. The home is incredibly inviting and Alice makes it a very warm and friendly environment. We can't wait to go back and hopefully, bring our bikes next time.

  • Great place to stay! This B&B is a historical home that has been maintained and decorated beautifully. It felt like a privilege to stay in a home with such beautiful, historic surroundings. Alice and Kevin were wonderful hosts and very knowledgeable about fun things to do in the entire Shenandoah Valley. Yummy, locally sourced breakfasts displayed to delight any palette. If you’re planning a trip to the area, I highly recommend the Hopewell B&B!

    Cindy2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous home in a lovely area. The hosts are welcoming and gregarious and full of information about things to do in the area. So much more fun that staying in a standard hotel ! We were taking a weekend to ride bikes in the mountains and the hosts gave us a lot of local knowledge.

    Kevin2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We'd highly recommend Alice's bike bnb for anyone wanting to visit the Shenandoah area. Our favorite part was the wraparound deck! Very relaxing. Great hosts!

  • My friend and I wanted to get away and found this gem because it was close to a local Hike, Buzzard Rock and Signal knob(about 10 min drive). Alice and Kevin could not have been any more welcoming and helpful! Their home is interesting and their new bishon puppy is so adorable! We stayed in the room with two beds, both quite comfortable, spacious, extremely clean, and a basket of snacks and water was provided. This room shares a bath with another room and was THE best shower i've ever had! The claw tub had a rain type head and tons of warm water. There was plenty of counter space, and the he towels were so plush, much better than the ones at home. really! Plentiful breakfast was provided and Alice went out of her way to find a full plate that accommodated my multiple allergies (after i told her fruit would be fine). They gave excellent restaurant recommendations, and had a perfect shed to store our bikes that we rode around the town of Stassburg. But we could have just walked as its about 2 short blocks to the main street. The town is good for an evening stroll -cute gift shop, brewery, hamburger/dog place, ice cream, and town green where we enjoyed live music at their outdoor venue. The shops do close early though. On our last morning, we enjoyed sitting on the inviting front porch with our coffee. We had such a great time we decided we will return with our husbands on the next trip.

  • This home is a must to get a full experience of historic Strasburg. The historic and cozy atmosphere of the home, hospitality of the host, and location so convenient to everything in Strasburg made this a perfect place to celebrate a special birthday with 7 of us present. We couldn't have been happier with our choice of where to stay in Strasburg!

  • This is a charming BnB just off of main street. Quaint and rustic. Really nice amenities in the bathroom if you have forgotten anything. Simple and plentiful continental breakfast. We got great recommendations for dining on King Street and opted for Box Office Brewery.

    Janine2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great airbnb! It’s so whimsical and historic! I can tell how much attention to detail Kathleen and her husband have put on their beautiful house. From cute little antiques spread around the house, unique trims on the baseboards & floors to the coolest wooden & resin tops I’ve ever seen! It included all the amenities listed and more! Many breakfast options and welcoming conversation! Kathleen and her husband live there but you can’t even tell because it’s separated by a door on the left wing of the house and they were very respectful of our privacy. All the needed toiletries, towels and sheets were provided. The most relaxing clawfoot tub, comfortable mattresses & pillows on all the beds. Perfect for big groups (but you can also book each room individually) and walking distance to restaurants and antique stores. Also there are many hiking trails nearby so my friends and I will definitely be back for the great accommodations and hospitality!

The Diamond House is a serene modern retreat deep in the woods of West Virginia on 23 acres, but still only 1.5 hrs from the D.C. area. The Diamond House has vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors, and is filled with windows that provide access to views that stretch for miles and natural light throughout the day. Amazing sunsets. A perfect retreat from the hustle of the city.

The open kitchen, living and dining room space upstairs is the perfect spot to gaze at the view over the Warden Lake valley. Downstairs bedrooms stay cool in the summer and open up on to a patio and garden.

  • My wife and I booked this modern Cabin in the Woods for a luxurious Valentine’s Day long weekend and let me tell you- we were NOT disappointed. Immediately upon pulling up to the property, we were blown away by the perfect location and stunning views. The open-concept layout made for perfect unending views of the rolling mountains on both the top and bottom floors. We made heavy use of the charcoal grill and fire pit, despite the frigid temperatures. If you love the mountains and need a romantic getaway, look no further than Tiernan and Rachel’s place!

  • Perfect weekend getaway!!! Put your phone & laptop away, snuggle up with a book and enjoy the view. Don't expect strong internet, you'll have to wait till later to post on Instagram. But that's one of the things I loved the most. we were able to totally disengage the world and enjoy the gorgeous views and silence of the woods. The house is great & has a fire pit out back. Soo Serene!! Do make sure you bring everything you'll need, it's a trek into town. You get the seclusion of deep woods camping with the amenities of home. Highly recommend and can't wait to come back!

  • Alice and Kevin were fantastic hosts! They are very friendly and go above and beyond with their hospitality. We felt right at home and enjoyed their delicious breakfast and treats they left for us. They also had many small touches to the room that made our stay perfect. I would highly recommend staying at their place!

  • We had a short but wonderful stay...Alice and Kevin were super friendly and knowledgeable about the area...sweet potato pancakes were delicious in the morning.

    Noah2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • This bed and breakfast was incredible! The house is decorated so well and had great spaces for hanging out (like the front porch). The room itself was perfectly clean and the bed was very cozy. The breakfast was so delicious (made from scratch sweet potato pancakes and local sausage) and we loved meeting our fellow travelers. Overall, I love this place because of the thoughtful touches (cookies at check-in, homemade chapstick in the rooms, fresh flowers throughout the home). Alice and Kevin were the picture of hospitality. We felt so well taken care of during our stay and can’t wait to return with family and friends.

Our space is super unique due to the setting in the mountains. Take a look outside and you can enjoy a cup of coffee while looking at the ridge. It's a wonderful setting.
The home offers plenty of privacy, but please remember that neighbors may be able to hear loud noises. Please remember the house is non-smoking and we would ask that there are no evidence left around the home of cigarettes or the related. Thank you in advance for this necessary attention.
  • The home and setting are beautiful! This was the perfect space for our group to get away and relax for the weekend, with plenty of space for cooking, lounging, and spending time together. We had a brief issue with the water but Vic was very responsive and it was resolved as quickly as possible. We would definitely recommend staying here!

    Brooke2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning views. Gorgeous home. Flexible hospitality. Vic’s home is cozy, open, and peaceful — plenty of space to sit, to reflect, and to engage in conversation about childhood memories as well as future hopes and dreams. We celebrated my mother’s 50th birthday weekend (there were 9 of us!) and everything went beautifully. Plenty of kitchen supplies and utensils, lots of cut wood for the outdoor fireplace space (which we used both nights even though it was quite cold!), and a spacious floor plan which made milling about/cooking/dancing really easy. Thanks for everything, Vic!

    Zach2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great place!

    Marc2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Vic's place was wonderful - the house was very comfortable for our group (which ended up being 3 small children and 7 adults) with plenty of room for gathering, cooking and eating together.

    Rachel2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful sunrises and sunsets and a fully stocked kitchen made this a great getaway for my family for Christmas week. We had 3 young kids and plenty of space. The porch with fireplace was amazing and we spent a few nights sitting out there as a family. The house had everything we needed - a great time away from the city. Thanks Vic!

    Diana2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely and spacious house set on several acres of beautifully landscape yard and fields. Nice walk through the woods down to a stream. It's within 15 minutes of great hikes: the riverwalk in Strasburg, the mountains. The kitchen is excellently set up, beds are very comfortable, plenty of bathrooms. We had 7 adults and a baby, and could easily have had more. Although it was cold out, we really enjoyed the outdoor fireplace. Vic was very helpful and prompt in all our communications, gracious about our sign in and out. We would certainly come back!!

    Jean2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome experience. I would definitely recommend my friends to visit Vic’s place.

    Soumit2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Vic’s place. The kitchen had everything we needed to make a big brunch, and the outdoor fireplace was a great gathering spot for the cold fall nights. Comfortably slept our group of 9, everyone had a great time and loved the open gathering areas.

  • We had a nice stay with Alice and Kevin. Their home is beautiful, they were very welcoming, the town is small but cute. If you like chatting and getting to know new people, this is the place for you!

  • The Hopewell House is a very special place to stay and enjoy. The hosts are very kind and knowledgeable about the area and are very happy to share their information with you. Alice makes a four star breakfast that is fabulous hearty & healthy. That in and of itself gets you hooked on coming back for more. The area is very close to all things Shenandoah, food and wineries galore. Any time of year is great to visit them.

    Veronica2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • This B&B was great! Came out for the weekend to do some hiking in the area and check out local breweries. Hopewell House was two blocks off main street giving it a laid-back neighborhood feel, but it was still easily walkable to the primary strip. The house was immaculate and beautifully renovated. It is clear that Alice and Kevin spent a lot of time on the detail. There is also a wraparound porch that is a nice place to sit and have a cup of coffee in the morning. Both Kevin and Alice are extremely knowledgeable not only about where to eat and drink, but also about the local hiking and biking routes. They gave me a great suggestion for one of my hikes. If I were to come biking I'd definitely stay at Hopewell and get some of Kevin's extensive knowledge of bike routes. Amenities: Awesome care package in the room with local goods, coupons, and information. And breakfast was awesome. All locally sourced products and homemade baked items. I'd come back just for that. Overall highly recommend, if you're a dog lover, this place is a must.

    Vito2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • The Hopewell House is an excellent, convenient, and totally comfortable place to stay near the top of Shenandoah National Park. Alice and Kevin are wonderful hosts whose knowledge of the area and commitment to their guests are unparalleled. We will definitely stay again.

    Richard2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Alice is a great host, really bends over backwards to be thoughtful - snacks and water in your room, a little pamphlet of local restaurants, trails, and other activities, a breakfast menu (of local foods, yum!) she even made us fresh cookies when we arrived! She and Kevin were so sweet and were always looking for ways to make our stay more comfortable (they also have super cute little dogs!). She's a very hands on host, very warm and friendly and can tell you a lot about the area, but if you'd rather have more space to yourself I'm sure she could accommodate that preference too!

Very short walk from a Buddhist society. On 5 1/2 acres with creek on property. We are smokers, but only smoke outside and would like guests to do the same. The home is heated by a woodstove, you can use the electric heater in your room as well though. We work online and are home most days. There is only one bathroom, and it's shared. This spacious treetop apartment with a small balcony in a secluded wooded setting just 2 hours from DC makes an ideal base from which to explore all that the local and broader area have to offer, or simply get away from it all. Start with a hike around the 11 acre property, with massive oaks and impressive boulders, toss some horseshoes, or just look out over the property through the treetops as you read, write, or relax.
The bedroom sleeps four. The room can be divided by pulling a full length curtain to separate queen bed area from the trundle bed area. Trundle bed can be converted into two singles or joined to make a king-sized bed. Air mattresses or cots can be arranged for families of more than four. There is a full bathroom. The kitchenette has a microwave, dorm fridge, Keurig coffee maker with complimentary coffee, tea, instant oatmeal, sweetener, and basic utensils. Wifi connectivity is available. AT&T cell coverage is generally good. Most other phone carriers do not have good reception here. A sliding glass door gives access to small balcony with view of forest. Parking is found behind the house, where there is a private entrance to a stairway that accesses only the upstairs.
Warden Lake, 1 mile away, is stocked with trout, and may appeal to those who love to fish. Wardensville, only 3 miles in the other direction, is a fun little town with a farm market and bakery, restaurants offering plain good food, and the Lost River Trading Post, with espresso drinks, baked goods, craft beers, gifts, antiques, and the work of local artisans. The Cacapon River runs through town and is available for canoeing and kayaking. There is public stream access just north of Wardensville, where the Cacapon River Trail begins, and also about 5 miles downriver at the Whipple Truss bridge. Hiking trails are within a few miles. Bryce, Canaan Valley, and Timberline ski areas are within an hour away.
  • Pam is a wonderful host, kind and thoughtful. The Indigenous art and the wooded lot made for a stunning and special stay. The amenities were nuch appreciated and definitely went above and beyond.

Welcome to our Heighview Hacienda! I bought this home for my wife as a wedding gift after she told me the story of how her parents renovated it from an old hunter's cabin. We found it to be the perfect place to decompress, regroup, and reconnect with family and friends. If the loudest noise you would like to hear is birds singing, then you have found your destination!
This cabin is clean, well-maintained and displays simple elegance and comfort. The home includes one king bed, one twin with a trundle, and one queen air mattress. In the winter you can see one other home but in full foliage season, other residences are barely perceptible.
    Quiet peaceful, wooded location!
  • Great place and convenient to Winchester and the Shenandoah Valley! Perfect for a couple or small family

  • Everything is great and all equipments are ready to be used!

    Hao2018-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • This cute cottage has a lot of amenities and is comfortable. It is a little off the beaten track which we like...very quiet, but still only minutes to town. It does have steps down to enter from the parking area but no steps once inside.

    Jeanne2018-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • We are very pleased with our stay. Communication with the host was excellent. Raymond mentioned right away that we would need an SUV to safely drive to the cabin. The place itself has everything a visitor might need. We enjoyed grilling, sitting by the fireplace and listening to old records on the record player. We would recommend staying here.

    Mary2018-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Raymond was an absolutely incredible host, so responsive, transparent, informative and even sending fresh veggies to our door. The deck is a wonderful spot to enjoy the quiet beauty of the area. The fireplace is toasty and inviting. The bed is one of the most comfortable I have ever slept on, even in 4 star hotels. There are beautiful drives in the area and a wonderful near- by fresh fruit market with home made baked products, organic local meats and orchards for self picking. If you'd like to be alone yet close to Winchester, this is an amazing place-full of light, lovely furnishings and a fabulous bed. We'll be back.

    Martha2018-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • we were working in the area and ray's place was perfect for us. clean. comfortable. raymond was honest and helpful. i'd stay there again and recommend it.

    Mirabai2018-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • I spent five days at Ray's house with my husband and daughter and we really loved it. The house feels like home, there is everything you might need - appliances, cooking pots and pans, utensils, a barbecue, camping chairs, and all the supplies one might need. The house is in an idyllic location and it is perfectly designed. I especially appreciated the high ceiling and the feeling of space in the living room with the open kitchen. Ray is indeed a superhost, his response time was immediate, and we could feel that he took good care of us. Thank you for a wonderful mini vacation!

    Jelena2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is very nicely decorated and comfortable. It is off the beaten path in the country but within 10 minutes of Downtown Winchester. We loved the quiet, you hear whippoorwills in the evening! The host was very quick to respond when we had any issues. We would definitely stay here again!
