Clean and comfortable annex to my house. Totally separate access. This is in the west Lake District. 5 mins from the town of whitehaven. This accommodation is particularly good for cyclists wishing to do the coast to coast ride. We are a five minute ride to the beginning of the track. We offer secure lock up for cycles in the conservatory attached to the annex. Will accommodate 2 people (double bed)
  • Regularly use Marie’s place for work and always enjoy staying here!

  • comfortable and convenient base for exploring the area, very good value accommodation

    Elizabeth2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • I wasn’t really sure what to expect here. We needed somewhere to spend a night in Whitehaven prior to attempting to cycle the Coast to Coast, and the price was right. I was delighted with what I found. Access is to the rear of a large semi detached house on an ordinary street, up a couple to steps into a small conservatory which leads into the lounge/kitchen. There’s loads of room for two to sit in comfort, and the kitchenette has all the basics. We heated a ready meal in the microwave and used the same for our porridge in the morning. The accommodation has its own staircase leading to the bedroom and shower room. All well equipped and clean. Sometimes your heart sinks a bit in B&B places when you come across a laminated notice, but when it says “Please help yourself to extra towels” it’s rather lovely. Although we didn’t meet her, our host could not have been more obliging and I’d happily recommend this place, especially as a really good value stop over before an epic cycling trip.

  • Perfect location and base to explore the local area and to start the c2c cycle. Being able to store the bikes in the conservatory was a massive bonus (and one of the many reasons we booked). Marie was a great host! Thoroughly recommended by us.

    Andrew2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Marie was so helpful right from the word go, especially with restaurant recommendations! The annexe was lovely and very clean! We found the local menus and attraction brochures a great touch. In all, we had a great stay and hope to return!

  • Ideal for cyclists doing c2c

    Artiom2019-09-14T00:00:00Z

It's a cosy old fashioned sandstone cottage in the middle of St. Bees village (starting point of the Coast to Coast Walk). There are 3 pubs very nearby (but no noise in the room), a post office/newsagents/grocers for daily stuff, great beach with a cafe/ice cream shop. There are two bedrooms (photos of the second bedroom coming soon!). Make yourself at home!
Lovely seaside village, good access to the Lake District for walking. The pubs do good food or you can just use our kitchen no problem.

The station is a stop on the scenic Cumbrian Coast Line south-west of Carlisle, and dates back to 1849, when steam engines first whistled along the lines. Located in the centre of the village with all the local amenities close by, this is often the start for many walking enthusiasts beginning the Coast to Coast walk. The village is just south of St Bees Head which is the most westerly point of Cumbria and only 50 miles from the Scottish border. The Georgian town of Whitehaven is five miles to the north and is known as one of the 40 Gem Towns of England. Just 15 miles south, Ravenglass is a quiet, coastal village with picturesque coastal walks. The Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway is a 15 inch narrow gauge heritage track and the seven mile line runs from Ravenglass to Dalegarth Station near Boot, in the Valley of Eskdale, in the Lake District. There is also fun for all the family at the historic, haunted Muncaster Castle which is close to Ravenglass, boasting Himalayan gardens, hawk and owl centre, playgrounds, café and gift shops.

My place, built in 1830, can be seen on the left of the main picture. It is close to Wainwrights Coast to Coast Walk, the sea, public transport, a brilliant fish & chip shop and a local store. You’ll love my place because you're close to coastal walks and sites of historical interest such as the industrial heritage sites of Whitehaven. The lake District National Park is within a few miles and the sunsets from my house are stunning..
Built in 1830 as housing for workers at the local mines. This cosy little house has views over the sea to Scotland from the front and at the back there's an open green grassy space with ample parking.
My home is a small terraced house, built in the 1830's near the cliff top, as a home for the workers in the local mines. It was owned for many generations by the same family and you can still see where they have carved their initials in the red sandstone surrounds of the rear entrance to my home. The area has a rich history in mining coal, anhydrite and iron ore and if you wish to go looking around the cliff top path, you will find many remains of the fascinating industrial history.
  • Great stay again 😁

    Gary2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Janet is a wonderful friendly host and does everything she can to help. We were allowed to leave belongings over the weekend despite only booking in for the working week which was very kind and an unexpected extra.

    Jessica2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Janet's place is located in a great location, in whitehaven. Stunning views over the sea and despite the bad weather we took our dog Coco for a lovely walk to Haig Mine and down to Whitehaven... just a 15 to 20 minute walk along the coast from Janet's cottage. The place itself was spotlessly clean, and very cosy... Janet even provided milk, tea, hot chocolate and coffee for our arrival. The chip shop around the corner was also a bonus! Janet's place was very special place, and great value!! We will definately be going back we felt very relaxed and at home here. If you're looking for somewhere to stay in Whitehaven, please consider here.

The Hayloft is a unique, totally private, suite in the picturesque seaside village of St.Bees. Recently added onto a barn conversion home, the space is brand new; clean and modern but with plenty of character features, including the exposed beams that are hundreds of years old. St.Bees beach is a five minute walk away and the beautiful Lake District is accessible within a short drive. St Bees is the start of the Coast to Coast, and we can provide a secure space for your bikes.
With it's own entrance, bathroom & living area it is spacious and totally private for you to come and go as you please. Upstairs there's a double bed and a reading corner with armchair & lots of books. Downstairs there's a bathroom with a shower, heated towel rail & some toiletries. And a snug area with comfy sofa and smart TV -with Netflix. Access to wifi.
The village of St. Bees is on the western coast of Cumbria, four miles south of Whitehaven. It has a long sandy beach, which is 5 mins walk from The Hayloft. St Bees Head, the westernmost point of Cumbria, is the start of the ‘Coast to Coast walk’. An RSPB nature reserve on the headland is home to England’s only colony of Black Guillemots. Puffins, terns and other sea birds can also be studied. There are observation and information points all along the headland. St.Bees Priory dates back to the 11th century, and the beautiful church & grounds are accessible via the courtyard of the development that the Hayloft is built on.
  • Amazing place. Beautiful. Clean. Lots of little touches such as coffee, milk, fruit and chocolate. Easy to checkin. Easy to checkout. Close car park. Nice area for a few days away!

  • This is a two bedroom flat with each room let out separately. It is in a fantastic location, right in the centre of Whitehaven, and consists of a large kitchen/diner/ lounge, separate toilet and shower, and the two bedrooms. It is up a flight of stairs but that leaves room for the wine bar downstairs. It's kept clean and tidy, and the facilities (cooker, oven, microwave and so on) are just right. Gary is a very helpful host. He's available to show how the central heading works, and tell me what's going on, and provides resident parking permits to allow you to park - but don't be misled, it's difficult to park in central Whitehaven unless you take the paid parking elsewhere (having said that, the All Day Car Park is only round the corner and very convenient for the usual places of work like Albion Square). I'm booking in regularly now because of its convenient location.

  • I was staying in Whitehaven for work and when I stumbled across this property, I thought that it was perfect - and it was! Very clean and perfectly situated near local amenities, the town centre and, of course, the beautiful Lake District. Gary was and is a friendly host who couldn't have been more helpful and attentive to my questions and needs. I highly recommend this property to anyone needing a cosy place to rest their head on the West coast!

We are surrounded by breathtaking scenic views and the country side. Our home was once a turnip barn and part of a large farm that was converted in to 4 residencies. It's a lovely place to relax and unwind, far from the hustle and bustle of regular life whilst being in easy reach of the beach and Lake District.
  • Beautiful space, wonderful views and friendly host.

  • Pam's place is beautiful and welcoming. She is a great host and I found the whole process very smooth. A great place for exploring the area.

  • Excellent place. Can’t be faulted!

    Tim2019-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • Pam’s place is lovely, and it was a pleasure to stay for the week. So good, in fact, that I’ve booked in for my next stay already! Beyond all the “normal” stuff - very clean, warm, comfortable, stylish, etc - it stands out as exceptional value for money.

    Tim2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely space just on the edge of St Bees, very comfortable and relaxing

    Simon2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Pam is a wonderful host, always responded to me quickly and was so accommodating to our needs. The house is wonderful, even bigger than it looks in the pictures and the location is stunning. I would absolutely stay again. Highly recommended!

    Sophia2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place, ideally located as it is close to the lake District and the coast. Easy check in and out.

    Axel2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Pam’s property is just a few minutes away by car from St Bees. We were only there for one night as we were cycling the Coast to Coast. Pam very kindly let us store our bikes in her barn in advance of starting the C2C, which was a great help logistically speaking. The property itself is lovely. The only thing lacking is a sink in the kitchen area, but Pam provides a basket for putting your dirty dishes in, so this was fine for our one night’s stay. All in all, a lovely start to our C2C. Thank you.

  • Sally’s loft is like a 5 star hotel. Such a beautiful home and wonderful welcome by a lovely family. You have everything you need at Sally’s loft, it’s is stylish, comfortable and exceptionally clean. Parking was good and there are lots of places to explore on the coastline even if you are just staying over for onward travels. The bed is extremely comfortable, the shower is great and providing breakfast is a nice touch. I would highly recommend Sally’s loft for a one night stay or more.

High house cottage is over 400 years old. It is in the village of St Bees in the Western part of the Lake District. Close to the sea, lakes and mountains it is a perfect place to take a holiday. The cottage has wooden beams which were originally parts of ships, probably wrecked in the bay. The cottage has four bedrooms sleeping up to seven people. Bedroom 1 has king size bed, Bedroom 2 has twin single beds which, by request, can be zipped together to make a super king bed. Bedroom 3 has twin single beds and bedroom 4 has one single bed. These are all on the first floor where there is also a bathroom with roll top bath, shower enclosure, basin and toilet. On the ground floor there is a well equipped kitchen: gas hob with double oven, a fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and wood burning stove (Fuel supplied). There is a small farmhouse table and seating for two in the kitchen. The separate dining room seats 8 around a large pine farmhouse table, perfect for spending time eating with friends and family. In the lounge there is comfortable seating for everyone, a TV with DVD player and a quiet corner with books, lamp and a cosy chair where you can snuggle up and read. The room also has a flame effect electric fire and windows front and back. In the oak dresser there are a wide range of toys and games - families with young children will also find a box of Happyland figures, vehicles, castle etc under the stairs to keep little ones entertained. Many of our guests comment about the welcoming and cosy atmosphere of the cottage - it certainly feels like a home from home. With gas central heating throughout and the woodburner the cottage is as comfortable in winter as it is in summer. Aside from traffic coming down the lane into the village at rush hour it is a very quiet spot with barn owls nearby and fields opposite. We find it very peaceful.
The cottage is on the outskirts of the pretty village of St. Bees with its ancient abbey. The large sandy beach (with great playground and café) is about 20 minutes walk away and has ample parking. Beyond the beach lies spectacular St Bees Head, an RSPB reserve with rewarding clifftop walks. In the village, ten minutes walk away, there is a post office and shop. There are also four pubs in the village, two of which serve good food. The train station in the village is only 12 minutes walk from the cottage. Nearby Whitehaven, ten minutes by car (and also served by train) has a range of supermarkets and other shops, places to eat, harbour. and museums. The beautiful scenery (mountains and lakes) of Ennerdale and Wastwater are approx. 30-40 minutes drive and are well worth a visit.
  • The cottage is warm and welcoming. Stephen is a responsive host and I can tell he’s proud of the property. The cottage is very clean and well equipped.

  • The cottage has a lovely modern and well stocked kitchen, also large dining table so ideal if people want to self cater. It is a short walk into St Bees and also to the beech. Lots of jigsaws for rainy day and our nephews's children gave a big thumbs up for the toys available in the house. The host is easy to contact

  • A great cottage with ample and flexible sleeping arrangements for families/friends to enjoy a break in the beautiful if remote village of St Bees in West Cumbria. Great amenities, good space, plenty of homely touches by the host and a lovely log-burner in the kitchen. Good base for exploring NW lakes and Whitehaven and surrounding seaside villages. Child and pet-friendly.

Your stay will be in my traditional, characterful terraced cottage in the pretty little seaside village of St Bees and the price is for 1 or 2 sharing a double bed. This is a spacious but cosy double room in a bright, peaceful attic and has a view looking across the gardens towards the Irish sea. St Bees is the start of the Coast to Coast walk and has good rail links and also plenty of venues for evening meals. There's a local swimming pool, open to the public, at St Bees school too.
It is close to the village amenities, being a short walk to several good eating venues and the local shop. It is an excellent place to base a visit to the picturesque Western Lakes such as Ennerdale, Wasdale, Eskdale and there are many other places to visit too such as Muncaster or Ravenglass with the 'Ratty' Railway. Steam trains regularly visit the area and old diesel locos are used during the day on the 'not to be missed' coastal journey along the very edge of the sea and this can sometimes be scary or exciting, depending on how you view it!
The village has a golf course, Post Office and village shop and also several restaurants and pubs with a good choice of real ale. In summer the beach is popular with wind surfers and kite surfers and the cliffs of St Bees Head are frequented by hang gliders too. On Tuesday evenings the St Bees Lifeboat services can be seen practising emergency recovery from the locality.
  • Joan is really a nice, hospitable elderly lady. We stayed at her place only at night to sleep as we were super busy enjoying outside throughout the day and evening. For us, it was pretty OK. Theoretically, it's possible to see the sea from the window but that's not a proper sea-view. The place was not super-clean or organized but OK and it's not more that 5 mins walk from Saint-bees rail station and about 20 mins walk to beach. I guess, Joan is a new host, so with time she'll be better at managing everything. Importantly, she's super friendly and tries her best to respond to any request made. Overall, we enjoyed our stay!

Refurbished Victorian cottage, a short walk from St Bees beach, RSPB reserve on St Bees Head cliffs, station and the Post Office with convenience store. Garden area available to sit outside and upstairs there are views of the sea, St Bees Head and the Isle of Man on a clear day. Jenni and Anthony have chosen to furnish and decorate it in keeping with its period. However, the kitchen and bathroom both have modern fittings. A wood-burning stove can be lit for cosy evenings on chillier days.
St Bees is a great location to explore both Lakes and Coast and marks the beginning of Wainwright's Coast to Coast walk. The 11th century Priory, built with local red sandstone, has a Willis Organ and display about the finding of St Bees Man - a Norman knight. The historic public school was founded by Archbishop Grindal in 1583. Whitehaven is nearby and is a planned 18th century town with a history of shipbuilding, rum trade and smugglers. The Beacon Museum and Rum Story provide popular visitor attractions. West Cumbria also has a rich heritage of both coal and iron-ore mining.
St Bees is a popular location for holidays with a good beach and is situated near to many local attractions.
  • Fantastic little house, lovely picturesque walks. Jenni and her husband were so accommodating and even got us in milk bread and butter which I thought was such a lovely thing to do! Will definitely be back 👍🏻

  • Lovely little cottage in a beautiful spot and wonderful, thoughtful hosts. All at a bargain price. Highly, highly recommended.

    Steve2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • What a great location! Right on the main road through St Bees, 5 minutes walk down to the beach, and a couple of minutes walk to a couple of pubs and a shop. You can see the water and the Isle of Man from the master bedroom window too if the weather is clear. On street parking is plentiful and free, but it's narrow and you may have to park up or down the hill when you find a spot. You will be slightly nervous of the number of cars and how close they are (tuck in your wing mirrors). That said, this is the perfect base for walkers, with plenty of places to get to, and Wasdale Head is about 30 minutes away (it's only 20 miles but the winding single track road is worth navigating slowly), so the perfect base camp for Scafell Pike too. The lovely Jenni and Anthony met us at the door - even though we were two hours late - and showed us around their cottage. It's a quaint 2 up 2 down with a double dormer in the roof providing a very bright and airy master bedroom. There's everything you need, shower unit, microwave, fridge, freezer, cooker etc. There is no TV, which means family time playing board games (a few classics are provided). A loaf, milk and butter, and some squash was provided, along with hot drink essentials, which was great to get in and make coffee etc on arrival before going shopping and towels were provided too. The accommodation is lived in, and staying there feels homely, like you also live there, so it feels a bit like going to stay at your Nan's house while she's away. There's notes all around explaining how things work and helpful tips. There's also some very helpful and interesting information about St Bees and Whitehaven and surrounding areas which was well worth a read through. To summarise then, if I come back to Cumbria I'll be asking for a booking back at Jenni and Anthony's place because of its superb location in relation to the beach and walking routes, and friendly, hostel-type feel, we really enjoyed out stay there.

  • Jenni and Anthony are the kindest people we've ever met in our travels. They welcomed us at the train station, pointed out local amenities and attractions on our brief and pleasant walk, and gave us a tour of the cottage. They also gave our kids - who had just had a birthday - a card and gifts, which was so very kind and made us feel so welcome. They left us to our own devices, which we appreciated, and were always on hand and thoughtful, eg posting a local guide book with tide times marked, to help us plan our adventures. We bumped into them a few times during our stay, and each time they gave us helpful pointers; they also offered to facilitate an outing at a nearby village as well as feeding their neighbour's hens! Their place was as described (and we were very grateful they let us stay with toddlers, even though it's not officially child-friendly) with many thoughtful touches, such as books and toys for the kids and kitchen staples provided (including fresh milk, bread and a choice of butter!). We struggled to get all we needed at the local shop; a supermarket is a short drive away, but as we were car-less we booked a groceries delivery for our first morning, and all went smoothly. We would recommend this place for a quiet, outdoorsy, seaside retreat, with two of the most hospitable and lovely people on your - or rather, their - doorstep!

  • We enjoyed our stay at St.Bees very much. It was a great base to explore the western lakes as distances are not a problem. The cottage is very comfortable and Jenni was a great host. We really appreciated to have breakfast things ready for us to use, a very nice touch. There is lots of advice about things to do and local attractions in the house and Jenni and Anthony were very helpful giving us advice when they showed us around the house. We will definitely be back in the Lake District.

  • We had a wonderful stay. The location is fantastic for days out to the western lakes & coastal villages. Lots of great walks & lovely country pubs close by. The views over the Irish Sea are amazing! The hot tub was fab & the cottage as a whole was perfect!

    Jo2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures tell it all, this place did not disappoint! It was so amazing watching the waves roll in, we spend most of our time relaxing in the space. Had a lovely walk with the dog along the beach at sunset and enjoyed the hot tub at night... even with February winds blowing! Such a find, sea and easy access to Lake District fells.

    Renee2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place to relax and unwind, the beach house provides everything you need and more, and is just perfect to watch the sun set from the large hot tub with the Isle of Man visible on clear days. Ourselves and the dog thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we are going to miss watching the tide come in from our bed.you are only a short drive from the town with shops for your essentials, takeaways and pubs if you need them .

    Jackie2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • That view! As we stayed here in January, we were expecting bad weather and we got it - very stormy with horizontal rain. The bad weather made our stay even better! We snuggled up in front of the log burner and watched the bands of weather blow in from the horizon. It was perfect! The hot tub was an added bonus and we managed to use it when the weather calmed down. Another really nice thing about West View is the fact that dogs are welcomed, not just tolerated. Dog bowls, a doggy blanket / towel and doggy treats were all available for us to use. The beach immediately outside the house is quite large pebbles which our ancient collie found quite hard to walk on, but at low tide, there's a large stretch of sand about a hundred yards away. Although the collie didn't appreciate the pebbly beach, it attracts wildlife, so we had a lovely time watching the wading birds. I imagine in better weather, it would be great fun exploring the pools left by the sea too. All in all, a lovely relaxing stay x

    Cathy2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a really quiet place with great views this is for you. Ideal for dogs and lovely to sit on the deck and watch the sunset.

A small, stunning lodge set in a private, wooded, estate nestled on the fringes of the Lake District and just 10 minutes drive from the Coast. It is the perfect weekend retreat, after a day out exploring our National Park, you can come back to the lodge and relax in our outdoor hot tub (for a small fee) or light the fire pit in your own private space and enjoy the peace and tranquility that Rheda has to offer. Alternatively, pop down to one of our locals for a traditional Cumbrian meal.
The lodge is fully modernised for your convenience. We have free wifi, a large screen digital television, the latest coffee machine serving fresh coffee and latte's and a fridge to keep those beverages cold. A BBQ is available for use in your own private rear garden. There will be an additional charge of £25 for exclusive use of the hot tub, bookable in advance. This fee includes luxury robes and towels. Please ensure you bring suitable footwear such as flipflops to ensure that your feet are kept clean prior to entering the hot tub.
The lodge is set in our garden in a private wooded estate. Red squirrels and roe deer are regular visitors to the estate and the woods are abundant with lots of bird species too. As evening approaches you can sit and watch as the pipistrelle bats leave their roosts to feed on insects. As this is a private estate, there are few cars and therefore less noise. There is no street light pollution so on a clear night you get a beautiful view of the starlit sky.
  • Thanks to Vanessa and Andy for a wonderful relaxing stay in the Lake District. The lodge was compact yet perfectly formed and kitted out with more than expected. We were worried we'd get cold in there facing stormy wintery weather, but we were toasty warm using the heater and winter duvet on the comfy sofa bed. The lodge was absolutely spotless with great access to a private courtyard to the rear and a few steps to the hot tub at the front. Plastic glasses at the ready and adorable homemade cupcakes our winter hot tub excursion was just brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble for the hosts, Vanessa was just wonderfully welcoming and helpful with local knowledge, takeaway recommendations and kept us fully informed about our stay. Our golden retriever was grateful for the adventures around the large garden to the house and very pleased we were allowed so much freedom with him. If we have a trip planned for the Lakes again we'll definitely come back!

  • Vanesa is great. From the first moment she answered all my questions and concerns. On the day of the arrival she received us to explain all the details of the cabin. The cabin is very cute and has everything you need to spend a couple of days. The hot tub is great and is right in front of the cabin. It is easy to access the beach and lakes. Also, it is a very quiet area where you can relax outside the noise of the city. Our only concerns were the sofa bed that for our taste was a bit uncomfortable and the lack of shower, but Vanesa provided us with the entrance to the shower in her house. Thanks for everything! We will return without a doubt!

    Raquel2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and well equipped lodge that catered for all of our needs while visiting the lakes. Both Vanessa and Andy were happy to help with any questions or queries which we presented to them. Overall fantastic stay!

  • Lovely little garden lodge, really warm and stylishly done out. Vanessa and her family were exceptionally welcoming and allowed us use of their personal facilities when needed and even invited us to their New Years Eve party which was lovely. Hot Tub is a great little touch and it's a lovely little base to enjoy the splendid scenery of the Lake District xx

  • Carole and Steve's place is always fantastic and is like a home from home when i visit my family. My toddler daughter loves it. I really loved being there in winter this time and watching the weather roll in. The views are amazing.

  • Great location with thoughtful touches. Beautiful view from balcony and a lovely presented place to stay in. Very accommodating hosts.

    Steven2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • A huge thanks to Carole & Steve for accommodating us with such short notice (a few hours on NYE!). We were met by Steve on arrival who showed us to our lodge and then around the place. The lodge was airy and clean and had even been warmed up prior to our arrival (great touch considering how late we arrived and the time of year!). The views, when weather permitted, were great to wake up to and getting out with the kids in the morning to check to see if the hens had laid any eggs was great fun! Florence and Duke (the resident Donkeys) are super friendly and feeding them some chopped carrots and apples also went down great with the children. Overall, a really pleasant stay with great hosts. The lodge itself has everything you need and if it's the Western side of the Lake District you're after exploring; this is a great base location to do it from. If I have any criticism, it is that it is slightly old fashioned inside (furniture etc) - but this is solely down to taste and did not take anything away from the stay itself.

    Joshua2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place. Extremely clean and equipped with everything you need. Hosts were very helpful and were keen to let me know I could contact them any time if I needed anything . I’ll stay there again no problem. Very nice people. Good energy and the sound of farm animals every once in a while makes it an absolute heaven for nature lovers.

  • Just returned from a fabulous three night stay at this wonderful place. Started with a lovely warm welcome from Jane and Wal and lots of lovely extra touches from the welcome pack to the shell message and the wine and chocolates. It is a really beautiful house with lovely decoration and it truly was a home from home and took us no time at all to feel relaxed and comfortable. I could have watched the view from the large lounge window all day. It was spotlessly clean and everything we needed was there. Lots of local information provided and the weather was kind enough to allow us to get out for a few walks. I am in no doubt that we will be back at Catbells again this year and can't recommend it highly enough.

    Margo2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing property beautiful location. Catbells has been refurbished to a very very high standard ,contemporary but still with home from home feel . On our arrival heating lighting including because of the time of year Christmas lights all in place ,also so many personal touches including chocolate s and wine (what’s not to like ). Jane and Will always available if and when required. Everything you could wish for in a very comfortable long or short stay a true gem.

  • Maria's place was lovely and clean and perfect for my short break. She was most help with communication and me arriving later than planned. The room and bathroom were flawless with the added relaxing bonus of a huge fishtank in the room which was a nice touch! Would stay again and recommend for anyone visiting the area.

  • A really lovely room, warm and comfortable, and very convenient for the Science and Technology Park (only about 2 miles, another advantage is that half of this is away from the traffic). Lovely to come back to after working hard all day . In two nights I enjoyed the chippy (had to stay in for a conference call) and the Globe pub (almost directly opposite). The fish are active if silent - companionable without disturbing anything. Hosts are friendly and helpful if you need them, out of the way if you don't. Very convenient and I'll book again

  • Lovely, comfortable place with some quirky touches. Susan left us a few food provisions too which was lovely.

  • Really great little private cottage accommodation with excellent host. Good sized rooms and well equipped kitchen. Ideal for hill walking or exploring the area with good size porch for muddy boots.

  • Overall good house with English vintage style and provided all amenities. WiFi is little bit slow...

  • A lovely cottage and much more spacious than we were anticipating. It had everything we required and more! Would definitely recommend and we'll certainly be back soon.

We are a small community pub and Inn at the heart of Egremont. Striving for high-quality service with both traditional and mainstream products available at our bar. You can find warm and welcoming locals along with tourist from far and wide. We aim to build a good relationship with nearby business and support our community in maintaining such a lovely town that is Egremont.
Providing a bar, The Cat Inn has accommodations in Egremont. Complimentary WiFi is offered. The condo hotel offers a seating area with a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom (not ensuite) with a hairdryer and shower. There's also a kitchen in some of the units equipped with an oven, a microwave, and a fridge. Ambleside is 29 miles from The Cat Inn. Ennerdale Only 10 minutes. We speak your language!
Egremont is a small market town, which has held a market charter since 1267. It has a wide main street, overlooked by the remains of a Norman Castle. Egremont Castle was built about 1130. and stands on a mound above the River Ehen. The ditches are well preserved. Part of the wall and the gatehouse are in a reasonable state of repair. The massive wall at the end of the outer bailey was part of the Great Hall.
  • Very central for Egremont, we stayed for the Crabfest and found it really handy.

  • Both owner and staffs are nice and helpful. It’s on top of a pub. But it’s very quiet. We wouldn’t hear anything in the night. We didn’t realise the room we booked is not en-suit. Girl on shift helped rearrange straight away. Parking behind building is good, but if we could have instruction before would be helpful. Shower is good. If there is a fridge would be handy in warmer weather.
