    St Arnaud, VIC, Australia

Beautiful former old Post Office located in the heart of St Arnaud, close to the Silo Art trail, Grampians national park, various boutique wineries and the goldfields of Ballarat and Bendigo. This 150 year old property has been meticulously renovated into two apartments providing all mod cons whilst keeping the original features of the property with well-established gardens, a very private backyard, security entrance and a short stroll to the main street.
The grand entrance and staircase you see as you enter is awe inspiring and almost like stepping back in time. The backyard is a well-established garden with several areas for a cup of coffee or a glass of wine as you watch the sun go down.
St Arnaud is a former gold mining town, situated about an hour west of Bendigo. The district around St Arnaud supports an agricultural industry of sheep grazing, grains and wineries, with forested areas to the south and open Mallee plains to the north. The town centre features many well-preserved historic buildings and a couple of nice pubs on Napier Street, many with wide verandahs and ornate cast-iron lacework. The town has a long history along Napier Street between Millett Street and Inkerman Street, including the old post office (built in 1866), the court house (1866) and Victoria's oldest fire station (1883) which now serves as a fire brigade museum. A number of attractive gardens exist in St Arnaud's town centre, including the Queen Mary Gardens located opposite the Old Post Office with its pond, exotic trees and friendly ducks and geese. Pioneer Park and Lord Nelson Park offer a range of sporting and recreational facilities. The town's last mine, the Lord Nelson, operated within these parks and there is a lookout atop Wilsons Hill which provides a magnificent view over the township. St Arnaud is the perfect place to base yourself whilst you tour the silo art and old mines dotted around the area.
  • Beautiful, historic building in the quiet end of the Main St. Fabulous space, - lounge, kitchen, dining table, bedroom, separate toilet & laundry & bathroom. Loved the decor, amenities & location. Really private to retreat to. One of a few self contained apartments in the one building, all private & has an outdoor courtyard. Would recommend to stay, especially when doing the Silo Art Trail. St. Arnaud is a very pretty town.

    Lyse2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at the Old Post Office. The apartment was very cosy (we particularly appreciated the fireplace). The beds were very comfortable and there were many thoughtful touches such as bathrobes, books, music, dvds etc.

  • A great authentic historic pad to stay in while we were in St Arnaud. Enjoyed reading the late afternoon sun in the garden and using the retro CD player too!

  • We had a very comfortable night at the Old Post Office at St Auburn. Every was very clean and Gary was very good with his communication. Great spot for anyone thinking of seeing many of the painted Silos in the area.

  • Great little place nestled amongst the trees away from the road. More spacious than we were expecting which was nice and still super cosy. We’ll be coming back in winter to make use of the fireplace for sure. Thanks Naomie

  • A lovely little place with everything needed. Do yourself a favour and go to the local pub for the best parmas known to man. Then come back, kick back, enjoy the serenity under the stars. If you leave the bedroom blinds open you can be awoken by the most glorious sunrise through the trees. Overall a fantastic getaway. We even came back with some honey from the local apiarist which is delicious. Our only regret was not being able to stay longer.

The original mud brick home built in 1859 with extensions using recycled materials staying true to the home's beauty. Built during the gold rush era, the town of Wedderburn and surrounds still hold the charm of the time. Time on the property holds all the Australian bush charm. Kangaroos at dawn and an array of native birds above. The house has a modern kitchen and bathroom. Books, dvds or board games by the fire in the lounge.
There are 3-4 bedrooms (one can be used as an artist studio or games room) with the main a stunning mezzanine. The kitchen has been updated with gas stove, dishwasher, plenty of bench space and even a breakfast bar. The bathroom has a double-headed shower and a claw foot bath. There is an additional functioning outdoor toilet off the garage. There are two split systems providing heating and air con in the downstairs bedroom and also in the kitchen. This keeps the house a comfortable temperature. There is also an open fireplace in the lounge. Up some small stairs above the kitchen is the mezzanine bedroom with stain glass windows overlooking the property and Hardhill reserve. It's a beautiful place to wake up. Please note it is very important you contact us if you wish to request an early check in or a late check out. This is important as it may or may not be practicable on the day. Thank you for respecting this.
Wedderburn has all the essentials you'll need with a supermarket, butcher, newsagent, post office, café, pub, hardware store, golf course and more. Do stop in at the Wedderburn Hotel for a drink or a meal they also have a pool table and sport on TV.

NANA'S Place is a quaint cottage with a long history dating back over 100 years. It was Marilyn's nana and pops home for over 60 years, it had a commercial past and some association with The Blue Streak, Jack Donaldson Jr., who held several world sprinting records in the 1900s. Centrally located it is close to pubs, cafes, chemist, supermarket & antique shops. It is a short drive to the Inglewood Golf Club & a walk to Bowls. A laneway at the rear of the cottage also provides off-street parking.
Our cottage is centrally heated and air-conditioned so you will be cosy warm or comfortably cool. Fully functional kitchen, outdoor BBQ, and all the facilities of a comfortable home are yours to enjoy. Coffee, tea, milk, bread and cereals are provided.
Our location will impress as it is so close to all shops and facilities in Inglewood. Shop, relax, go fishing, gold prospecting, golf, lawn bowls, explore local wineries, enjoy a walk and the great meals available at the two nearby pubs.....a lovely stay awaits.
  • Nana's Place is a wonderful old-worldly, comfortable cottage set in the Inglewood Main St. It's a quiet town with lots of character. Very generous with provisions, and lots of nicknacks to admire. Recommended.

Robert recommended the Empire for dinner. The meals were generous & tasty. Bed was comfy. Thanks for your wonderful hospitality.

    Louise2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Upon arrival we admired the immaculate front garden with seating on verandah, the access key was easy to find. The furniture and bedding was comfortable and everything was super clean. The decor fitted the style of a miners cottage and we enjoyed the ambience and modern coffee machine etc. We brought our ear plugs noting before the main road and slept really well. The parking at rear of property was excellent, and gated. We had our meals at bakery, three doors down and the Empire hotel. The food was exemplary at both places. People were very friendly and helpful . I can certainly recommend Nanas place and the friendly country people of Inglewood.

The communication from Catherine and Kylie was fantastic, particularly as we were heading up on a particularly nasty day weather-wise. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and very enjoyable. Dinner recommendation from Kylie was great, and we spent the whole meal trying to make excuses to come back and stay again

Period mud brick cottage originally built sometime before or around 1900 with family history stretching back five generations and the gold rush. It is set on a property of nearly 30 acres with abundant wildlife and scenery. It is located approximately 5-6 kms from the township of Avoca Victoria and it is within walking distance of a couple of local wineries and the Percydale historic area.
The cottage has one dedicated bedroom with a double bed and 2 sofa beds (double) - one in the lounge room and one in the dining room

  • Lovely, welcoming, historical mud-brick home with thoughtful touches on a beautiful sheep farm with serene views. Would thoroughly recommend it. Two wineries up the road and plenty to explore in the area. Nearby Avoca has a great pie shop with an interesting range of pies, from emu to crocodile, and great ice cream too.

  • Hugo's place is very nice, the pool is really good, especially the shade sails for protection from the sun, rock formations are great to explore, sunsets are beautiful from up on the hill. House is fully decked out with everything you need.

    Glenn2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • The house was clean and very spacious, the huge grounds, fruit trees and pool all fantastic sources of entertainment for the whole family during the stay. The kitchen and laundry were very well equipped with all sorts of groceries and supplies. Best holiday!

    Chesky2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • I would highly recommend this property! We had four adults and five kids under 10 over the New Year period and the house and location were absolutely perfect. There is plenty of space, the house is incredibly well-equipped and very comfortable. The pool was a huge hit given the weather was so hot! Hugo really is a super-host. His directions and instructions were detailed and very helpful and he was in constant contact with us to make sure we were comfortable and safe when a couple of grass fires broke out in our vicinity. Bear in mind that this is a working farm and about 15mins from St Arnaud so it’s a perfect place to stay if you want to relax and switch off from the world. You’re best to be organised with food and supplies to ensure you’re not spending your holiday in the car. Thank you Hugo! We will be recommending your homestead and hope to return again soon.

Mark & Masako were very responsive & are truly great hosts! Thanks to you both for opening up your home for our stay!!

  • Mark and Masako were wonderful hosts. Their place is warm and cosy and Mark is quick to respond to queries. I would highly recommend this gorgeous place to anyone wanting to explore The Pyrenees region of Victoria. We will definitely be back. Thanks again, Shazleen

  • Mark and Masa’s cottage was an absolute delight - one of the best Airbnb’s we’ve stayed in. It’s a beautifully styled space that is full of character and thoughtful touches. The fire was going for us upon arrival, which we already appreciated. The cottage was sparkling clean and the bed super comfy. Real coffee and fresh milk an added bonus. A one minute drive up the road to Summerfield for Friday night wood-fired pizza was a treat, not to mention the lovely wineries nearby make for a perfect weekend escape. Looking forward to coming back.

    Gemma2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect location for a stopover due to the number of wineries in close proximity. This place had the added benefit of all linen being provided as well as items for a continental breakfast. Suited our family of four perfectly. Only downfall is lack of options for dinner. Even in the closest town of Avoca a number of places were closed on Mondays and Tuesdays so it pays to do some research ahead of time.

    Dominique2019-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • Summerfield Lodge is simply fantastic. A beautiful heritage home that is well-appointed inside, and renovated in the kitchen and bathroom. It was so cute and cosy, we didn't want to leave.

Buckley's of Dunolly, a former goldfields hotel, has three upstairs luxuriously appointed double bedrooms with queen size beds, one with private ensuite. The upstairs breakfast room has coffee, tea, cereal, microwave and fridge. The former ballroom is for exclusive use by guests, with television, comfortable sofas, board games and books. We are situated on fifteen acres of garden and bushland.
There were many gold rush miners on this property during the gold rush. There was even a hospital and a butcher on the grounds. Only bricks and rubble are left from the former buildings, but many fossickers still find gold in the district. We have echidnas and wallabies on the property as well as micro-bats, owls and shingleback lizards . It is a perfect area for star gazing as there are no street lights and lots of "big sky".
This is gold detecting country and many visitors come to try their luck. Dunolly also has a swimming pool, post office, chemist, and antique shops. The Dunolly Bakery is very popular in the district. The Railway Hotel serves excellent meals. We are fifteen minutes drive from Maryborough with it's impressive railway station, museum and cafe. Heading north on a fifteen minute drive is the charming town of Tarnagulla. The tiny towns are well worth exploring and the remaining historic buildings give an idea of how populated the area was during the goldfields rush.
  • Great space full of history that has been maintained with renovations. Very comfortable bed and hot shower. Plenty for breakfast and lovely lounge to relax.

    John2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Such a treasure of a place, beautifully presented to match the era of the building. We were well looked after by Rachel, she was such a delight to meet and provided a comfortable, well catered and private space for us. Would happily return here and enjoy more of the wonderful accommodation, the area and Rachel's hospitality.

    Kate2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • I can not recommend Buckley’s of Dunolly highly enough. The building was stunning, the beds super comfortable with great little touches everywhere.

    Freya2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • A cosy, comfy and beautifully styled old-style get away with a warm welcome and impeccable hospitality from Rachel. We had plenty of space and privacy, and especially enjoyed lounging in the lounge by the wood fire. Comfy, warm beds made for a restorative night's sleep. Thank you Rachel, we look forward to visiting again.

  • Rachel greeted me with a warm smile, a bowl of fresh strawberries and two friendly dogs. Her beautiful hotel is like taking a step back in time and I felt so spoilt. My bed was luxurious and Rachel had provided delicious breakfast supplies. I would definitely love to return one day and will be recommending it to family and friends.

    Vicki2019-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • Rachel was a perfect host, great communication and a wonderful place to stay! We love staying at Buckley's of Dunolly- such a historical building, beautifully furnished, so comfortable and with so many extras that made our stay so great. We loved the breakfast room with all the supplies and were made to feel right at home. Thank you Rachel!

  • Such a peaceful and pleasant place.. highly recommend for a vineyard stay experience.

  • The setting at Grape Farm Winery is beautiful. A spacious verandah overlooks the vineyard, a log fire added ambience as did abundant bird life and flora. There amenities were great too. Make sure you have lunch at the cafe during your stay - the tapas style food is absolutely delicious. We hope to return.

  • Amazing stay at Karina and Keith’s place and would highly recommend. My wife and I enjoyed the beautiful view of the vineyard from the cottage balcony. Walking distance to 3 other Pyrenees wineries. Nice wine tasting and Spanish cafe onsite.

    Garth2019-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Grape farm is a hidden oasis in the Pyrenees, the cottage overlooks the vineyard while offering a very private vista. Karina and Heath were the perfect hosts and even gave a impromptu wine tasking on Easter Monday, everything is catered for to help you relax, unwind and indulge in their expansive range of reds & white. The property has a must do walk up to the top of the local range with sweeping views across to the Grampians.

    Andrew2019-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • We couldn’t recommend this place highly enough. The cottage is the best escape from the city - it’s peaceful, has amazing views and all you can hear as you sit out on the deck is the sound of birds. The cottage is immaculately kept and has everything you need (lovely touch finding the fridge stocked with eggs, bacon, bread and local jams). Being located in the winery, the cellar door is only minutes walk away so you can wander down for delicious wine and tapas. Karina and Heath the hosts were really lovely. Very thoughtful and welcoming and we can’t wait to go back.

    Elisa2019-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot ! Really cute cottage which is tucked away and quiet if you need some down time. A great view of the vineyard and I highly recommend going in for a wine tasting ! some yummy drops to try.

  • We had an extremely enjoyable stay at Grape Farm Cottage. It was very peaceful and quiet, just what we were looking for. The cottage is set up with everything you need for a stay. Karina is a fantastic host. We highly recommend a stay at Grape Farm Winery Cottage. The wine is very good as well!

    David2019-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing weekend at Grape Farm Winery and surrounding attractions. Our hosts were the right mix of being there for us to provide assistance and advice (and private wine tasting!) and also give us the space to unwind and relax. We took time out in their beautiful cottage and explored the picturesque winery and grounds. The cottage fridge came stocked with fresh, free range eggs, bacon, orange juice, milk, butter and bread. Ample for two people for two days. A tip from Heath to dine for lunch at Blue Pyrenees (get the shared plate) and then dinner at Talbot Provedore was spot on. We can’t recommend these establishments highly enough. Heath and Karina’s wine is scrumptious and the cottage is great value for money. 10/10 from us. Andrew and Marita

  • We had a fantastic stay at Paul’s place. The house is huge and even better than the photos. Whilst there was only two of us, the place could easily accommodate a few couples. There was plenty of entertainment, from the pool table to board games or relaxing in the hammock to the sounds of the birds. The bed was very comfy, water was hot and kitchen facilities excellent. Definitely amazing value for money! The place is really clean as well. Our dog loved the place too and the secured back yard! Thanks Paul- hope to return again someday.

  • Chestnut Cottage is nestled into a bank overlooking the vineyard and lake, with views to the surrounding hills. The two-storey cottage with bedrooms upstairs and on the ground floor perfectly accommodated the various sleeping arrangements required by our family, including a couple, a single, and an elderly guest. We arrived late on a bleak winter afternoon after a long drive from the Hunter Valley in NSW, and were soon enjoying dinner in the cosy kitchen. We all slept comfortably and serenely in the quiet rural setting. The cottage is charming and is elegantly furnished, with ample parking and easy access. Our hosts were friendly and helpful, although we did not need any extra assistance, as everything we needed for our stay had been thoughtfully provided. I will happily recommend Redbank Winery for a relaxing stay in the Avoca - Moonambel - St Arnaud area.

Kurracaburn Heights is set on two acres of attractive gardens backing on to bushland and overlooking the Donaldson Park recreation reserve and Nardoo Creek. It is just a five-minute walk to Wedderburn’s main street, with its shops, cafes, parkland and hotel.
Close to sporting reserve, Bush walking tracks are at the back fence, golf course 100m away. 10 minute walk to the shops and hotel for meals. Very central convenient location.
  • Myself, two adult sons, daughter in love & my baby grandson stayed here for the weekend & it was a wonderful spacious place for us all. The little nursery off one of the double bedrooms is perfect for a family with two children’s beds & a cot! The place was very clean & very close to main road with all the shops. Michelle met us and is lovely & very helpful. It was lovely to have some cold water waiting for us & lots of herbal teas & coffee, sugar sachets which you don’t always get. There was even fresh milk on arrival which was awesome for a cups after a long drive! All up we would love to stay again! Being an old hospital checking out all the old medicine cabinet was an adventure in itself!! Thanks Michelle & Bruce!!

  • What an awesome set up. Thanks so much I can't wait to stay again

    Daniel2019-05-11T00:00:00Z
  • Unique experience staying in a former hospital, the bedrooms being the former wards, the doors still marked as such. Very nicely converted into lovely comfortable accommodation. I don't often say this about places in ultra-expensive Australia but this place is very good value for money.

    Brad2018-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • had a lovely stay at this stylish, decorative accommodation. everything was sparkling clean, quiet and peaceful area. Definitely recommend to the travellers.

  • Really enjoyed our stay at this excellent accommodation. Was lovely to have fresh flowers in the kitchen and fridge items for breakfast. Beds were very comfortable. Also we enjoyed some complimentary chocolates. There is a nice friendly cat that hangs out on the verandah. All in all a good experience.

Large, light & airy Holiday house at Blue Pyrenees Estate on the bank of the Lake, located in the centre of the vineyard. Three bedrooms with huge open plan living, dining, kitchen and lounge area particularly suited to groups. Master bedroom with ensuite as well as a main bathroom. Local wine tasting, lunching, hiking, and bird watching all feature in this former gold mining precinct.
  • Lovely house in a stunning location. The main sitting dining area was fabulous with plenty of comfortable seating around the fireplace and a very long redgum dining table. Location next to the lake and amongst the gums & vines is beautiful, but get supplies as it is a 5 or so minute drive out of town.

    Linda2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice place, good amenities (even the wifi is fast) and great views especially in the vineyards

    Christoph2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The house was stunning. We were a little concerned due to lack of pictures but we were blown away. Beautiful flowing large space and five star hotel beds. Lovely views all around. A fantastic place for a city getaway

    Bethany2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place is incredible! My friends and I hadn’t even left and we were already trying to work out another time for us to go back. Gorgeous house in a gorgeous location. Great place to go if you’re looking for a bit of serenity and time to decompress.

  • Outstanding place, expected it to be good but this topped it. Great location, beautiful house and amazing serenity

    Laura2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about the stay was easy and relaxing, and the hospitality laid back but complete!

    Elizabeth2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • The house is at prime comfort level, however it’s the location itself that takes your breath away. The lake just outside is so serene and the wildlife is a special bonus too! We had everything we needed, and loved the huge windows that let you absorb the gorgeous surrounds.

Beautiful former old Post Office located in the heart of St Arnaud which has been converted into accomodation. This 100+ year old property has been meticulously renovated providing all mod cons whilst keeping the original features of the property. The apartment features lounge room, master suite with furnished with a comfortable queen bed with en-suite, second bedroom with double bed, third bedroom with single bed, full kitchen, dining room, library and private balcony.
Gorgeous 2.5 bedroom apartment located upstairs, please note that the staircase is quite steep and may not be accessible to all as shown in the photo. The single bedroom is accessed through bedroom number 2 (perfect for a family with kids). Your own kitchen, lounge, dining, library and private internal entrance.
  • Beautiful residence for a country retreat.

  • A relaxed atmosphere which was perfect for our stay. It was amazing that this building has been reused for accomodation. The garden was fantastic and we all wished we could have stayed longer to soak in the history of this place.

Tandamuki Cottage is first-rate accommodation with vineyard, bush and orchard surroundings. Complimentary Shiraz for the tasting, free-range eggs, home-made jams and heritage apple orchard. Central to the many local wineries and within walking distance to the hotel and general store. Nestled in the beautiful Pyrenees, Tandamuki is the place to relax and rejuvenate.
  • I really can’t speak highly enough of this beautiful cottage in the bush. Completely private away from the main house beautiful views over the bush the cottage is absolutely gorgeous the pictures really don’t do it justice there is everything that you need there, very well set out we could’ve happily stayed longer than the two nights we had booked for the summer field winery festival. Only thing to be wary of is that there is no phone reception with some providers and no Wi-Fi. Barry is a lovely host and I hope we have the chance to return.

    Lauren2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet country bushland fringe retreat located with the Pyrenees wine region. If you want an escape from the busy life as a base to explore the surrounds then the perfect spot. Unparalleled cleanliness.

    patrick2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fantastic place to stay. A clean and comfortable cabin with everything you need and more including generous breakfast provisions. There are two verandahs with outdoor seating to take in the amazing views from two sides of the cabin. It is a beautiful, peaceful setting with wineries close by if you so desire. We were recommended to a small vineyard nearby which had flavoursome wines and lovely owners. Thank you Barry and Toni. I can't wait for my return visit.

Restored 1860's Cobb and Co. Inn set in the quiet town of Stuart Mill. 2 renovated, tasteful rooms available, one in the cottage and another upstairs. Both have ensuite bathrooms. A delicious breakfast is included. Fresh muffins, juices from the citrus trees, tea, coffee. Also egg dishes. We have our own free range eggs and fresh garden produce.
Set on a beautiful bend of Strathfillan Creek close to Kara Kara National Park. Kangaroos on the block next door, abundant wildlife. Very private with cosy fireplaces, great food and very comfortable King size beds.
Unique restored Cobb and Co Inn. Very comfortable and well restored. A tiny, peaceful old Goldtown. The stars at night are very clear. Wineries, antique shops and wildlife. Families welcome.
  • Beth’s house, an old inn on the Cobb and Co route, is full of history and being sensitively developed. Our room was up a tight spiral staircase and looked out on a creek with lots of river red gums and her own old garden, heavy with summer flowers. Best of all, she rears many kinds of fancy hens and they were a fine dawn chorus. We went to sleep with the calls of white cockies and galahs in our ears. It is a magical place in a well-watered benign, and very quiet(except for the birds) landscape. A magical environment. She was warmly welcoming, as were her cats.

    Frances2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Beth's place was a great stop on our trip up to the Silo Art Trail. The room is very spacious, extremely comfortable bed and Beth is easy to talk with & very welcoming. She made it a very easy place to stay.

    Jan2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • No frills place, rustic and quite, a true country inn with a lot of history. Well located for those who want to do the silo painting drive, explore the wineries or relax in the area. We felt welcome and were well looked after.

    Arnaud2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Both cottage and host are lovely, will definitely stay again when I'm in the area

    Paul2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is a quiet little historic settlement about 15 mins drive out of St Arnaud. It has it's own story and is worth exploring. Beth is a warm and welcoming host. We slept upstairs in the main building and, although we had the evening out in town, returning to Beth's comfortable accommodation was a delight.
