Your split-level bedroom is light, airy and sunny with a lounging area up a few steps to enjoy your leisure time in. You will be surrounded by views of orchard, bush and river and have a country experience while being only 15 minutes from Kaitaia. Your hosts Des and Chris are happy to socialise but will also be sensitive to your need for privacy as required.
Our home is set in beautiful rural surroundings, ringed by native bush and near a rocky -bottomed river with deep pools. A large orchard provides organic fruit in season and you will wake to birdsong each morning.
The nearest town, Kaitaia, is just 15 minutes drive away on Highway 1. From Riverstay the whole of the Far North is readily accessible. To the south, the historic townships of Kohukohu and Rawene, beautiful Opononi on the Hokianga Harbour, and giant kauri trees in the Waipoua Forest Park. To the north, famous surf breaks at Ahipara, breathtaking 90 mile beach and the spiritual Cape Reinga, northernmost point of Aotearoa New Zealand. To the east, pohutukawa fringed bays offer safe swimming and shady picnic spots. Fishing is a popular activity on both coasts.
  • Just a lovely place to stay. The room itself is fantastic and the location is beautiful. Would be an ideal place for a couple of days to just chill and get away from things. Alternatively a great location for overnight before a day trip to Cape Rienga.

  • Place is charming and full of character. I have the best night sleep there. Room is lovely and host is so welcoming. It is no WiFi or data there, but that was the best part. Property is so big that you can spend an evening just walking around and enjoy the nature. Host was lovely, you doesn't feel like you are living in somebody's house.

The sleep out has modern decor with a touch of retro/ethnic touch. A cosy private bungalow opposite to main house where cars park in courtyard. Patio overlooking rural scene of mountains. Situated 11 kms inland driving along river from Taipa, Doubtless Bay where there are beautiful beaches both east coast and west and Karikari peninsula. At the coast there are restaurants and Ramada Resort on Taipa beach. Locally the Bush Fairy Dairy and Far Out Takeaways and Tushita Ashram.
There is now a separate little bathroom off the patio that has hot shower and a compost toilet that makes the bungalow totally self sufficient. There are veggie gardens and fruit trees adjacent, chickens and birds around and a quaint little garden next to paddocks and hills all around. The bangalow is spacious and private having 3 rooms - a kitchen, a dining room and a large bedroom/lounge and a patio and bathroom. Washing machine is at main house. It is possible to arrive independently as there is a key to find. The space is very warm and cosy especially in the winter. Kitchen has a mini stove, gas cooker and a fridge.

A double bed in a loft room, separate from the house where the bathroom is located. Situated beside a pristine river with original native forest, birds and good swimming. Breakfast is organic cooked muesli and fruit. Nice place to relax, the dogs like tummy rubs. Many lovely beaches are in the area, the closest being Taipa which is 25 minutes drive. The local shop offers organic ice cream, coffee and groceries.
This is a dog friendly place, you could bring yours upon request. Dogs must not chase chickens. The loft room is accessed by a relatively short ladder, therefore a certain amount of mobility is necessary. The bathroom is located in the house. There is a bath, not shower. Outside compost toilet.
You can also do a bush walk to the lookout which takes 1.5 hours. The river has good swimming in the warmer months and places for picnics. The local dairy has a food caravan at weekend evenings, selling healthy food.
  • Fenella's place gave us a taste of how we would love to live! It's a self sufficient lifestyle in a beautiful environment. As guests, we enjoyed the privacy of the garage loft room separate from the main house . The ladder is fine as long as you have a reasonable level of mobility. We swum in the bush surrounded swimming hole. Breakfast was healthy and delicious. The dogs and chickens are friendly and adorable. Fenella gave us generous access to her amazing vegetable garden and fruit trees.

  • This place is amazing for the right person. If you want to retreat, enjoy peaceful quiet time in the bush and still only be 30 minutes from some world class beaches then this is your place. It has a special energy and Fenella is a great host. The only advice i would give is that you have to be comfortable with Dogs, otherwise i had a great stay.

All people welcome but has STEEP STEPS going down to the studio. You can bring your little doggie (extra $10/night)please wipe down when coming inside.
This place is a studio unit below the main house. There is a Gas cooker top, small old fridge, crockery and utensils, TV with free view, heater and fan. The studio has a suspended sound proof ceiling in the lounge to give you privacy and it is surrounded by NZ forest trees and a short walk to the Bay. Beautiful coastal scenery, bush walker the studio up to stunning look out, stroll to the village cafes, go fishing off the wharfs or beach walk on Coopers Beach. Money machine ,info centre , shops and supermarket nearby.
  • This was a great AirBnb in a lovely little hideaway location close to the water. The amenities and hosts are lovely and we felt very at home. Be careful with your car as it’s a steep and tight driveway, so we parked on the road.

    Natasha2019-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • "The Press" is an immaculately clean and comfortable space set in a lovely part of Northland. There is a deck on which to drink a glass of wine or eat breakfast whilst enjoying the views of the olive groves and listening to the bidsong. Anne-Marie and Keith are wonderful hosts. Very warm and welcoming. Anne-Marie provides some lovely little extras including homemade cheese and preserves and a sample of their own homegrown olive oil to try. Highly recommended for a couple looking for a little peace and tranquility and there is the added bonus of a visit to the olive press to learn how the olive oil is produced.

A fully furnished, self contained cabin perched on a peninsula on 10 acres overlooking Doubtless Bay with its own rocky beach - great fishing spot. Just a couple of minutes from the Hihi main beach and 10 minutes to Shops and Restaurants in Mangonui. The cabin sits approx 200 meters above the rocky shore. (with easy beach access).and next to my cottage but is completely private with its own entrance, deck and surrounding gardens. A quiet spot to call home while visiting the far north.
This Cabin is light and airy. Fully furnished with TV, DVD. The Cabin by the Sea is featured in a series of fictional books .. "The Audrey Murders"
This 10 acres is completely private. The cabin is located approx 200 meters above the beach with a private access road to the rocky beach. No neighbours in sight. The nearest neighbours have over 100 acres of land.
  • It’s such a sweet Cabin, even more so inside. The bottle of wine and generous supplies were such a treat. This was our 24th Airbnb in our 9 weeks in NZ. What a fabulous place to end up before wiping our tears away and flying back to Canada. Do walk down to the stunning beach, take your shoes off, feel the gentle waves, and watch a sunset.

    Euclid2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful place. The Cabin was cute and big enough for the two of us. The location was gorgeous. In love with the view and the surroundings oh and the 2 lambs that were around us. The cabin had everything that one would need and more. We got a bottle of wine upon arrival which was very nice. Little touches mean a lot. Lots of towels and all the facilities were perfect. Leonie was friendly and available if we needed her also gave us privacy that we needed. She is a lovely person. My partner and I loved our stay at the cabin and will definitely be back again. Thank you Leonie.

    Atish2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Leonie's Cabin by the Sea is situated in a little part of paradise. On a small headland with natural bush surrounding and the very best wide open view of Doughtles Bay, there is nothing more you could wish for. The cabin is simple and lovely. Very comfortable in every way. A nice assortment of food to add to what we already had, made things very easy to stay put. Her added touches and generosity were very much appreciated . The ground coffee was exceptional. So much so, we sourced the place in Koeo where we could buy the local roasted beans. Thank you Leonie for your hospitality and sharing your beautiful property. If we come back to Northland, we will back. Geoff and Julianne

    Geoff2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • This little cabin by the sea is amazing, quiet, secluded and with an incredible view out to the water. Leonie has thought of everything her guests could possibly need. There was plenty of extra linen and towels, the fridge was full of supplies - and out on the verandah there were fishing rods, bait and buckets for our use as well! It was such a joy to wander around the property, taking in the peace and tranquility. Thank you Leonie for our wonderful stay.

    Devika2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • A cabin very well furnished in a ... breathtaking setting! Leonie, is a host, who by many touches of attention, shows us that we are expected and welcome. The description of the cabin and its surroundings are true to reality. An enchantment! We warmly recommend this accommodation.

    Viviane2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Leonie's place is an idyllic retreat from the stress of modern life. We spent a week at 'The Cabin', and could easily have stayed another week. It's set on 10 acres of private hill, surrounded by mature trees, and just above the waters of stunning Doubtless Bay. There is only the one guest cabin on the property. You can easily spend all day lying on the recliners under the shady trees, reading, sleeping, and contemplating the view. A couple of times that's all we did for the day. Fish frequently break the surface of the water, and the seabirds are frequent visitors. There are also families of very cute Californian quail foraging all around the property. The cabin was well-equipped with everything we needed: a pantry with breakfast supplies; the fridge was stocked with wine, beer, bread, butter, milk and a dozen eggs, along with a bunch of spreads; and a bowl of fruit, just to get us started. It had an excellent-quality, very comfy queen-sized bed, with a pillow-top, and also a comfy single bed. Both would best be descibed as 'soft-to-medium'. The bathroom was compact but adequate, with ample towels etc. There was absolutely no noise at night, apart from the occasional native bird calling in the forest. Leonie is an engaging host, full of energy and fascinating stories, a person who lives life to the fullest. She lives in a quaint cottage adjacent to (but separated from) the cabin, and we never felt our privacy was being compromised. Leonie was often away from the property on business, meaning we had the place to ourselves, but we also loved the occasional chat with her over a glass of wine. It was a 12-minute scenic drive into Mangonui, a charming seaside village that boasts 2 excellent Thai and Indian restaurants - we could have eaten there every night! - along with the hugely popular fish-and-chippery perched out over the water. There are also a couple of other cafes in the vilage, plus a small supermarket, so your dining needs are amply catered for. There's also a much bigger supermarket a few kilometres further north at Coopers Beach. Hihi was a good base for exploring the area. Highly recommended is the run up to Matai Bay, and of course the drive (or bus tour) up to Cape Reinga, which was far more spectacular than we expected. A half-hour drive gets you to Whangaroa harbour where we took the excellent 90-minute cruise around the harbour with the water-taxi company. It was a stunning trip. If you're after a quiet spot to unwind, or explore the region from, then you simply can't go past Leonie's cabin. We'll be back again.

  • So happy we stayed at The Cabin! We enjoyed the views and it was a great home base for exploring the Northland. Might be the softest, comfiest bed we’ve slept in. We even heard a male kiwi one night. Leonie is a gracious host and a super human. Thank you, Leonie, for your kind hospitality and we hope to see you again!

  • A little wonderland is Ian's place. The room felt like an entire house; It was clean, warm and entertaining in itself. Ian is an exceptional communicator. Quick responder to emails, text and shouts in the void when you feel lost:P:P Too bad we've only were able to spend a short amount of time there as we were busy climbing the Pekerau Hills. Definitely worth a revisit.

    Izolda2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Ian Francis gave us precise directions to his accommodation, which could not be missed. The house is individually decorated and very large. The private area with its own bathroom and kitchen is also huge. The kitchen is very well equipped. The WiFi is great. Ian explained everything to us in detail and even gave us some of his eggs and fruit. We felt very comfortable.

    Rebecca2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Ian was very helpful & such a great host and accommodating. Great communication & great relaxing spot, not too far from supermarket and good drive from the Cape. Would stay here again :-)

  • A great quirky place with an attentive host. The room is attached to the main house but I felt the sense of privacy. Ian was helpful with recommending various destinations, and the location has all sorts of interesting things (to a city dweller like me).

    Darren2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our room was huge and almost like a private apartment attached to the main house. We had our own entrance but could also hang out in the house freely. We had multiple beds and a kitchenette containing everything we needed for cooking. The shower is worth seeing - very large too. Ian was welcoming and indicated us beautiful beaches to visit 20 minutes away. It was also nice to have free eggs - from local chicken - for breakfast.

    Maxime2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great space and great price on conveniently close to the Karikari peninsula. Ian was very responsive and friendly to my partner and I. The house and yard have beautiful artistic touches that are one of a kind!

  • My family and I (Mum, Dad with 3 kids) really enjoyed our stay in Ian's home. The accommodation though shared felt very private and spacious and is good value at this price point. Ian was welcoming with great local knowledge on best places to visit, but also left us to enjoy our privacy. The kids were particularly taken with the unique and artistic look of the house and enjoyed getting to feed the animals one morning. We all slept very well and would definitely like to stay again. Also grab some honey if you have the chance - delicious!

A sunny downstairs self contained studio unit on a peaceful elevated lifestyle block. Country views, shady trees, sweeping lawns, private decks and places to relax. By car it's only a 12 minute drive to Ahipara which is the southern end of 90 Mile Beach or a 2 minute drive to town.
Our place is perfect for single travellers or couples looking for a convenient, relaxing and spacious place to stay. There are many beaches you can drive to, see swamp Kauri and Kauri furniture or you can book a tour to Cape Reinga. When you leave Kaitaia you have a choice of driving south via the west coast (to see the famous Tane Mahuta Kauri tree in Waipoua Forest, east coast (to see lovely swimming beaches and Mangonui township right on the waterfront) or down the middle on SH1 through farmland.
Rural neighbourhood. Quiet and very safe. Short 15min drive to Ahipara beach, handy to town only 2.5km. Country feel but close to town.

Parking for all vehicles. The Shack has free Wi-Fi, Full HD TV, Tea, Coffee, plus. All bedding and towels provided. Saltwater swimming pool. (No nasty chemicals). A separate bedroom with a queen bed. • We had a wonderful stay at Campcoo. The garden is very peaceful and Jan helped us with everything.

    Elena2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jan’s place is awesome! It’s rustic but incredibly comfortable. It was very clean and had everything I needed. I spent two nights here and could not recommend it more. Also, a plus, her dog and the neighbor’s dogs are incredibly hospitable.

    Rudy2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • I heart Campkoo. This place oozes with character and laid back charm and is excellent value for money. The outside open doored composting toilet might not be to everyone’s taste, but I loved sitting on it and looking out at the trees while the fantails flew about nearby. The outside shower amongst the bamboo was also a delight. But most delightful of all was host Jan and her daughter Polly. Such wonderful hospitable people. I hope very much to come back to Campkoo and the fabulous far north of NZ.

    Elizabeth2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Campkoo is a house in the middle of the garden. Comfortable beds, a small kitchen equipped with all necessary utensils. Outdoor shower next to the bamboo (pleasantly warm water), compost toilet-super comfortable with a view of the garden. A simple wonderful place and Jan is a very warm woman. We stayed 2 nights to visit Cape Reinga and the great Rawara Beach (thanks for the tip) and felt very comfortable.

    Jutta2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place to stay, off the grid à perfect place to unwind. Jan is a lovely and very thoughtful host, highly recommend!

    Christina2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Simple, clean place to relax

    Zita2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Jan's spot is a kiwi place not to be missed. Aptly named Campkoo , it is indeed a glamping experience set in a quiet area very close to the main road to Cape Reinga, only over an hour's drive away. You are welcomed on site and taught how to master the clean composting toilet and outside warm shower. Then you are left totally for your own private enjoyment of the peace , birdlife and brilliant stars at night. The Milky Way is easily seen from the cosy verandah. You can even hear the roar of the waves on 90 mile beach if the surf is up at night. If you have not experienced the outdoor life of camping in NZ then you need to try this comfortable style that Jan had created. Jan's thoughtful little extras like good coffee and breakfast items all add up to an enjoyable stay. Linen is fresh and clean and the bed is comfortable. Recommended!

    Marion2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Jan is a super lovely host. The location is very great on an avocado plantation, the hut has a great garden and is very nicely decorated. We felt very comfortable and would love to come back.

  • Wow, just wow! We spent two nights and were blown away by this special place. It is every bit as beautiful as in the pictures but even better in real life. It was a pleasure to meet Erin and learn a little bit about the background of the house, and she also provided useful tips for the area. This is a truly unique place to stay, you can see the love and care of the owners in every detail. If you enjoy being in nature and a little „away from it all“ : book this! Probably the best AirBnB we ever stayed at and would 100% book again if we ever return to the area.

  • After sleeping in hostels for some days, our group of five decided it was time for some relaxation at a more secluded space — and we couldn’t have gotten a better experience. Coming in from a drive on 90 Mile Beach, exhausted, Carol greeted us with a highly pleasant welcome. Comfy beds, a well-prepared large kitchen and a nice living-room made our stay for the night incredible. The watermelon she had put in the refrigerator was the cherry on the cake that made it a 5/5. The surrounding area is astonishingly beautiful, the house is located next to a farm with sheep roaming the whereabouts. It truly was a genuine Kiwi-experience, and for that we are truly grateful. The price per night is also highly affordable — even for 20 year old backpackers! They truly deserve the 5 star rating, because it was an absolutely delightful stay. // A very happy Swedish traveling group.

  • An old-fashioned farmhouse with some modern amenities not too far from the town. Cell service available on gravel road before coming into the farm. We heard moreporks, tuis and kiwis while staying here!

  • Mary's place feels like an old-school slice of kiwiana. A little caravan mounted on blocks with a deck built in front, an outdoor shower and a little garden. Totally cool place to chill out, with an amazing view to boot. Beautiful, a great experience in the far north!

It has two decks where you can sit in either sun or shade at different times of the day and just relax and look out over the bay. Great location close to all the beautiful beaches of Doubtless Bay. Neighbors are reasonably close but we haven’t had any issues or complaints of noise
  • We had a great stay here! Had our dinners on the deck outside and loved that we could see the water from the lounge and bedroom. It was the perfect cosy place for two and we loved the local tips that Zoe provided.

    Jeremy2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning apartment with views of the bay, very clean and comfortable. The deck area is lovely to sit and sip a wine whilst listening to the water ripple and the birds. The fish and chip shop was wonderful but unfortunately the Thai was closed on Mondays so we didn’t get to try it, however it’s meant to be great!

  • This batch has loads of character and full of heart. A real kiwi batch that has generations of history. The close by bush has kiwi and we could hear Ruru (Motepork) at night. The nearby walk to the top of the old Pa site should not be missed.

I took my elderly mother and my son and we all had the most wonderfully relaxing time together in this magical, beautiful, charmingly rustic space. Loved the character of the cottage and the peaceful harmony and privacy; plus the pool was an idyllic spot to pass the afternoons! Was so hard to leave!!

Although small in size, our studio is cosy, warm, inviting & super clean. A compact open plan space with a comfy King bed, basic kitchen facilities with a microwave, jug, toaster, fridge - just enough space for tea/coffee, breaky in the morning or whipping up a salad or sammie etc. The shower has amazing pressure to wash away the sun/sand at the end of the day. A small North Facing patio with chairs and small table to relax at. A peaceful rural outlook only minutes away from the beach!
We are located in a new residential sub division off the main road heading into Ahipara so we are a safe peaceful spot to be in.
Although we are tucked away from the main drag and not on the beach, we are only a 15 minute walk to the ocean & 3 minute walk from our local cafe, dairy & take away shop

  • This is the nicest AirBnB in northern New Zealand! It is large, well furnished and the walls and doors are not scratched like so many others places we stayed in. The kitchen tools are quite new , the bathroom is modern and equipped with shampoos, soaps and new towels. It is at the end of a long lane but well worth the trip! This is the way all AirBnBs should be ! Thank you!

  • This is a nice, well-kept place in a wonderful location, with really friendly and helpful hosts. And the price is good. What more could you ask for?

    Roger2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Possibly the nicest hosts we have stayed with on Airbnb. They thought of everything to make you have a great stay. The place is great! They met us and showed us around, you can tell how proud they are of their place and they should be. There are numerous thoughtful touches and it is beautifully decorated. It's close to a really nice beach, you can hear the ocean and have a bbq on your own covered patio. They also left us milk, cold water, jam and bread. There is lots of info about the surrounding area and they let you know ahead of time that it is a small town and to bring provisions. So glad we decided to stay there only wish it was longer!

    Tina2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Debbie was so welcoming. The apartment was much bigger than expected. The lounge/bedroom area was very roomy. Also available for your private use was an outdoor area (with BBQ), a separate kitchen (with all the necessities) and a separate bathroom. The shabby chic decor throughout gives this place real charm. Cosy and comfortable, with many special touches. The location was wonderful too - just a short walk to the beach and not far from Manganui. Debbie's apartment is one place you'll want to stay for much longer than your vacation time allows.

  • Awesome Airbnb, we can definitely recommend it. Debbie was was a very warm, welcoming and friendly host. As an extra, upon arrival she greeted us with her cute cat Schnitzel 😻As for the space, the flat was super clean, beautiful with nice decor and very well equipped. In the fridge there were home made jam, toast bread, milk and butter and bottles with cold water waiting for us. Debbie also offered fresh tomatoes from her garden which we got to harvest ourselves! The flat is placed in a very calm and quiet area, yet only a short drive form a superb little seaside town with eateries and a supermarket. A beautiful, clean beach is only 3 minutes by walk from Debbie’s house. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and will definitely go back there.

The Cozy Little Black Cottage- Solar Powered You must try this modern new self-contained cosy cottage, solar-powered with two sleeping areas. Sleepy rural view with great sunsets. It is situated on a full section, Tokerau Beach only 200 meters away via a handy walkway. Super quiet with lots of open space to enjoy a unique holiday. A great base for all the Far North of NZ. can offer with highlights - 90 Mile Beach, Cape Reinga, Famous Beaches, Fishing, Golf etc.
Welcome to 262 Tokerau Beach Road – The Cosy Little Black Cottage Please make yourself at home. This is our Cosy Little Black Cottage, off the power grid, fully Solar Powered with normal waste utility connections. Solar Power – Setup: Should you wish to run Large Power usage appliances like your Hair Dryer or use the Induction cook-top / Toaster etc. please use the extra fitted labelled Power Outlets (please look for the Labels on the extra power outlets on top of the counter, thanks) Should you want to use the small fan heater next to the fridge to warm-up the Cottage please only use it where it is, all you need to do is turn on the power on the supplied power outlet next to the fridge on the floor – same place you will need to turn on the fridge if you need to use it. All flush-mounted power outlets and lights throughout the cottage are 240-Volts with maximum output from the inverter at 1800-Watt so there is no problem running small wattage appliances. The big feature is that this is eco-friendly. How it works is that on the roof are 2 X 300Watt Solar panels that catch the suns energy and feed it through an inverter and stores the energy in 2 large deep cycle batteries in the Laundry. The inverter then feeds the stored power back into the cottage at 240-volts / 1800-Watt for normal use. For Safety - please treat all power points as live as you would in a normal house. Please call us if any problems: Michael 021637083 WATER: The Cottage is on tank water so please be careful with all water use as we have very long dry spells here. The toilet is dual flush. Hot water is by Gas with Cylinder under the south side of the cottage. If you run out of hot water, please let us know as soon as possible so we can arrange for a new Gas cylinder. (Should not happen as we monitor it) WIFI: There is a WIFI connection available with limited data – please don’t do large downloads, will be fine for normal use. For your WIFI connection please look for: xxxxxxx > then please connect with Password: xxxxxxxxx > (please note case sensitive) TV, Freeview, USB-loaded movies: To watch TV you need to turn on both the TV and the Freeview box (Two remotes) Ensure TV is set on “HDMI-1” to watch all the normal Freeview channel available, this is selected by using the Freeview remote. Should you like to watch a movie or two we loaded a few movies for you on a USB that is connected to the TV – to view movies please select on TV-remote input from USB, look for movies, select the one you prefer then press play on the TV – remote, you will need to repeat this sequence to watch another movie. BBQ: The Gas Bottle is under the kitchen top. Please turn ON/OFF after use. If the BBQ self-lighter is not working a long gas lighter is supplied in the utensil box, should the gas run out or you see it is low please contact us. (Should not happen as we check it) Cleaning: All we ask is that you try and leave the Cottage as you find it, treat it with respect as if it is yours, thank you kindly. Smoking: We would appreciate “NO SMOKING” inside the Cottage, outside is fine – please contain the butts and place in the outside rubbish bin, thank you. Local Shops: (End of Tokerau Beach Road – See Map) – or just ask someone. Local Shop is open every day for Petrol, groceries, liquor. Also - across the road in the group of shops there is a Dive Shop, Takeaway and Bar. Please Note: Use the code xxxx to open the lock-box next to the sliding door. The keys are inside. Thank you, with kind regards. Michael & Andrea Ph: 021 637 083

  • A wonderful cottage in a great location. Walking distance to the beach, excellent tips for things to see and do in an amazing part of New Zealand. The loft is a great space for additional sleeping - especially for kids.

  • This is a very well designed small home. The bedroom is very comfortable as is the bathroom. Tall windows allow you to see the beautiful starry sky at night. Well equipped and close to the many things to do in the area.

  • Loved our stay in the self contained little black cottage. The host Michael was warm and friendly and quick to respond to all messages. The cottage is a 5 min walk to the beach which you can also drive along to pick mussels off the rocks and collect tua tua's. The cottage was extremely clean and bedding very comfortable. Great wifi connection. Shower was great with good pressure. Everything we needed for a 5 night stay was available including washing facilities, cookware and use of the wonderful outside kitchen. Sitting on the deck in the morning was delightful. The room did get quite warm through the hot days we had (being Feb) so we left the sliding doors open to allow for cooling. Early risers will appreciate the light filled room, those preferring a sleep in... eye masks are a good investment. Everything about this place made for a perfect holiday and we appreciate the work that has gone into making this cottage self contained...a big thank you to our hosts for having us!! 5 star accommodation!!

Our little retro classic pixie caravan can be used as a spare bedroom on your property or choose a caravan park in Doubtless Bay. Either Taupo Bay, Hihi or Whatuwhiwhi and we will deliver Pixie all set up for your holiday. You just need to book and pay for the camp park fees. Pixie is set up with one double bed all made up and one single bed from the table that folds down. Pixie has no toilet or shower so you will need to use camp facilities. She does have running water and power though.
Cooking facilities can be used in the camp ground kitchen but we do supply a BBQ and outdoor table and chairs. There is also a portable fridge you can use if needed but it will have to be under the awning. Please note that Pixie is only 3 metres long and 2 metres wide.
The local camp grounds are opposite the beaches, so there is plenty of fun times to spend in or on the water
  • I would recommend this to a couple or family of three......super cosy and comfortable with lovely outdoors area set up be the host.....all you have to do is turn up! Would definitely hire pixie again!

  • A great host with a unique accommodation experience

    Mark2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Pixie the caravan was ideal for our situation - small house and extra visitors - Pixiie gave two guests a private space - they used the main house for cooking and bathroom amenities. Fiona communicated well and delivered Pixie as arranged - a very cute retro caravan - be aware that she is quite small but so were our visitors.

  • This Pixie is super cute and special! Fiona is a great and flexible host — Good luck!

  • It was really cool to have an opportunity to stay in this old school but fancy-renovated campervan. Fiona brought it to Taupo bay campiste and it was all setup by the time I arrived. If you do not feel like sleeping in a tent this can be a great option and you need need to own your own and tow it (if you are heading into the northland area). Taupo bay btw is a stunning campsite and the surf was epic. Excellent and highly recommenced
