Places to stay in Maine
Cozy, isolated, well stocked cottage cleaned by a professional cleaning crew awaits your visit.
Walk to the village for entertainment, a sail, hiking or exquisite dining; or stay at 'home' where there is plenty of room to relax and cook fresh local food from the farmers market or co-op. Want to get away from it all? Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, the cottage gives you a place to 'hang your hat' while exploring all the area has to offer. So bring your toys, there is plenty of space to store them. Taking day trips from here is perfect since we are centrally located to many of the most popular sites and activities. Two people will find the space very comfortable. There is plenty of safe parking if you wish to stroll to the village to sit by the harbor, shop, attend an event at the opera house or have a nice cup of coffee. Come visit and enjoy our beautiful mid-coast area!
  • Margaret's cottage is super cozy. My girlfriend & I stayed here and had a wonderful time - it's the perfect size for a couple. I found myself enjoying the little front porch the most. Close to some great hikes and the town of Camden is very charming. Great for a getaway!

Waterfront cottage on quiet Graham lake in the middle of our small working farm. Great spot for quiet relaxation, fishing or kayaking. 2 canoes on the property. Good central location for visiting Bangor, Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park and Downeast Sunrise ATV Trail. Private setting. Wifi available at the farmhouse.
There is a closed in porch on the front of the cottage where you can relax and watch the sunset.
  • Beautiful place. Very clean. Right on the lake.

    Everett2020-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely spot right on the water! Really enjoyed the fireplace and Deb and Jon were so responsive

    Sophie2020-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • Incredibly clean cabin-style airbnb steps away from a gorgeous view of Graham Lake. Present are 2 canoes that I had the pleasure to take out on the lake and see a wonderful sunset. Deb was so kind! Definitely look forward to another stay here in the future.

  • This is a warm cozy cabin tucked away on a beautiful lake in the Maine woods. We loved sitting by the fire reading in the evening while the snow fell outside the window. It had everything we needed to make our stay perfect. We can't wait to return again this summer.

    Leanne2020-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • Dbe and John were wonderful, with John providing a wonderful tour at the outset. We made use of both the kitchen aid and the first aid kit. Overall a beautiful location!

    Andrew2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • I enjoyed the place and location so much we have already started looking at a second trip great place for a couple or small family to escape!

    Aaron2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was even bigger than it looked on the pictures. It was the perfect place for us to stay during our visit to Bar Harbor and Acadia. Even though we came in the off season, we wanted to stay a bit away from the ‘main drag’. It was very clean, beautifully decorated, and quiet. The lakeshore views and grounds were beautiful and relaxing. We would definitely stay here again.

  • Williams place was amazing right on the water. The waves are an experience in and of itself. I would go just to see the waves because they are pretty wild. There are seals and a great place to jog and relax. Thank you and look forward to staying again in the future.

    Daniel2020-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • William's place was very enjoyable. The weather was quite wild with storm surging waves crashing inducing sleep with natures white noise machine right across the street!

  • This place really does have amazing views! It’s in a super convenient location as well. Some people complain about the stairs but they really aren’t bad at all. I don’t think I would’ve even noticed. Unless you have issues climbing stairs in general they’re 100% fine. We’re looking forward to coming back when it’s warm! Thanks!

This STUDIO apt is bright, comfy, beachy, beautiful! The location is outstanding - walking distance to all of downtown. Central to beaches & activities. A/c and parking included. I am flexible, friendly, and happy to share info about Portland. Check our reviews, ask us questions, or just come stay with us!
This studio space is simply perfect for what you need. It's comfortable and it feels like home because it is. It's filled with great art, pieces of handmade furniture, etc. The space is ideal for 1 or 2, as there is only the one QUEEN size bed. But you could sleep a third person on the couch. I've slept on that couch myself many nights and it is very comfortable. Additional details to know... As stated and pictured, this is a studio apartment - meaning all one room. But for a studio it is quite large and spacious. We have a bistro set in the bay windows for dining, enjoying coffee, or sitting on your laptop. TV with apple TV set up. Full size couch and coffee table. Full kitchen. Small, but clean bathroom, with a stall shower - no tub. A/c and ceiling fan. Black out curtains if you like to sleep in. Off-street parking included. Coin-op laundry in the basement.
GREAT neighborhood! We are in the historic district and surrounded by beautiful old homes and brick mansions. We're also right around the corner from Longfellow Square, filled with great restaurants, bars, shops, small live music venues. Longfellow Sq is in the Arts district, home to Portland's best galleries and the Portland Art Museum. We neighbor the Old Port, which is about a 10-15 minute walk from our home. Here are some other landmarks that are helpful... *** About 5 blocks from the Portland Museum of Art and handfuls of galleries. *** Just a couple minutes any direction to great coffee shops, breakfast spots, and my personal favorites, Tandem and Holy Donut. ***Just a couple of blocks South of Deering Oaks Park and a couple of blocks North of the Western Promenade. Both are great parks for walking or watching the sunset. *** Just a couple of blocks from Maine Medical Center and Mercy Hospital. A short 10-15 minute walk to USM and to the 3 grocery stores in Portland (Whole Foods, Hannaford, Trader Joes). ***A short 5 minute walk to the Seadogs Baseball Stadium and 10 minutes to the Civic Center. ***3.7 miles to the closest beach; 7-10 miles to 3 more beaches and Two Lights State Park on the ocean. 4 Miles to Fort Williams Park and Portland Head Light on the ocean. *** 15-20 minute drive to the airport (about $15-20 for a taxi or Uber)
  • Terrific location, includes parking! all amenities provided. The studio apt is in a great neighborhood in the Arts district, in my opinion much preferable than Old Port. Close to great restaurants and bars, within a mile of Old Port fun. Everything we needed was provided, the kitchen had what we needed to make meals. I saw a review that said the apt was small, I didn’t find that to be true. We had plenty of space. I would say a very large person might find the kitchen and bathroom snug but not a problem for most. The host’s folder of suggestions of things to do and restaurants/bars was very helpful. I hope to stay here again soon!

    Denise2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Nova’s apartment was in a great location for our weekend trip to Portland. It’s a cozy space and an easy walk to downtown. Her detailed instructions made check-in easy.

    Fiona2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a PRIME location. We barely used our car. We were able to have late nights around the town since the location was walking distance to the bars. Nova leaves a very thoughtful booklet of local tips and places that's very helpful. I'd book this Airbnb again.

    Melissa2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot! Good location--pretty close to a lot of great restaurants, shops, etc. Lots of light, but good curtains to keep it dark for sleeping. And Nova's booklet of local tips was very useful in planning our stay.

    Zack2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a great spot, and excellent location to explore Portland's art district and Longfellow square. The space itself was both cozy and well appointed. My partner and I would return anytime.

    Erica2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place. Great location. We enjoyed the congress street restaurants more than any others in town. Everything was clean. Shampoo, conditioner etc provided. We would recommend.

    Tania2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Nova was a great host with quick responses and was very resourceful. She had a ton of great suggestions for things to do and the location of her place was great. Congress St., which is only a couple of blocks away, had awesome restaurants and bars. The bed in the place was extremely comfortable, especially after a camping trip. Would highly recommend this place for a 1 or 2 person stay.

    Sergio2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is a cute space! It is a little smaller than I anticipated from the pictures, but we were in town for a wedding so we weren’t in the room much. Definitely a good location and is walkable to the old port as well as a bunch of restaurants and other spots close by. Very clean and easy check in.

  • This quaint cabin is full of character. We had a very relaxing and peaceful stay on Alan's property. The place overlooks Cadillac Mountain in the distance and is an easy drive to Acadia Nat Park. Alan was a very attentive host; he showed us the local highlights and amenities. I'd recommend this delightful spot for anyone who is looking for some serenity in the woods. For us, and probably for any musicians, the baby grand piano was a huge plus!

  • Alan is the best host ever. The cottage has everything that we needed. And the views are amazing. And location is perfect too

    Asif2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for an Airbnb experience that you will never forget, stay at Alan's beautiful cottage! I was looking for somewhere to go and work on finishing my novel and his place ended up inspiring me beyond belief. Sunsets and mountain views like you have never seen before. The cottage is so cozy and warm, even in a full blizzard. Full of small touches, books, instruments from around the world that made it even better than I expected. Alan was an amazing host as well -- friendly and extremely accommodating. He showed me around the rest of the property, which has a rich international history-- an historic Opera house on site. Water/ bay views a short 5 minute walk away. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for rest and retreat and I will definitely be returning soon!

Beautiful hand built cabin, overlooking Cotton Pond. Ten minutes from Camden, the sailing mecca of the east coast. Solar lights, (we are off the grid) gravity fed kitchen water, gas-hot water outdoor shower, outhouse overlooking the forest. Hiking trails everywhere! Swimming across the road on Hobbs Pond.
Our cabin is placed overlooking a pond, the setting is beautiful, peaceful, and private. The way the cabin is set up, helps you reconnect with a simpler way of life. (Our cabin is not set up to charge electronic devices.)
We love the natural setting, the peace and quiet and the wildlife. We own property across the dirt road, on Hobbs pond, that has kayaks, a canoe and is a beautiful swimming pond.
  • Beautiful hand-built cabin overlooking a pond. Allows you to disconnect and immerse yourself into nature. Perfectly quiet without the background hum of city noise. Would definitely stay again!

    Natalia2020-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is THE perfect spot to get away and recharge. Leave your blow dryer, lap top and worries at home and enjoy living simply and beautifully. The cabin is so thoughtfully crafted from top to bottom and appointed beautifully with heart and attention to even the smallest details. There were fresh flowers by my bed and logs and kindling by the fire. The surrounding woods are beautifully managed, but still wild and wonderful to explore. You can kayak or swim in the nearby ponds (there are two to enjoy!) or just curl up with a book on the porch or by the cozy wood stove. Expect to be serenaded by owls at night and loons and woodpeckers by day, plus the occasional scolding by curious chipmunks! Julie and Steve are so warm and friendly and available to offer suggestions or answer questions. My stay at their cabin was a complete delight from start to finish!

    Amy2020-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing cabin, perfect location, everything was perfect , Steve and Julie are very polite and definitely going back, perfect experience!

Experience the airiness of life up among the pines in Georgetown, ME. Unique structures perched atop 21-acre wooded hill sloping to water views. Set in classic coastal Maine village with Reid State Park beaches and famed Five Islands Lobster Co. River views from the King size bed, through wall of windows. 4 Day minimum (but if you see an opening between other bookings, drop us a note - you'll have to select a random 4 days to contact us.)
NOTE: Due to C19, in the month of JUNE 2020 we can only accept bookings from Mainers and non-Mainers who have already quarantined for 14 days in Maine. Part tree house, part tiny house, this abode is called "Isle au Haut" ("High Island"), named after an island in northern Maine. The dwelling consists of two elevated structures connected by a rope bridge (elevated on posts and trees). We've used vintage and salvaged materials when possible. STRUCTURE #1: a bedroom, with a wall of south facing windows affording stunning river views. Includes KING SIZE BED (or two twin beds upon request). STRUCTURE #2: includes a small kitchen and dining area with large windows for water views, a small full bathroom, and a screened-in porch with rockers and river views. Kitchen includes: two-burner stove, sink, small fridge, pots, pans, dishes, toaster oven (no regular oven). NOTE on PICS: the exterior pictures included here are actually pictures of our other tree dwelling ("Madawaska"). Madawaska's two structures are connected by a deck, as you can see, whereas Isle au Haut's structures are connected by a rope bridge. PLEASE NOTE: as much as we love pets we have a strict no-pet policy in our dwellings! AUTUMN VISITS: Come stay in the tree dwelling in Autumn for stunning views of foliage. The dwellings are well insulated and contain heating units. THE VIEWS: Both structures have views across down the large tidal Back River. In the distance you can see where the Back River meets up with Kennebec River just before both flow into open ocean and past Seguin Island (where a light house was commissioned by George Washington). Across the Back River from the land lie hundreds of acres of pristine conservation land. Part of the year, this tree dwelling will be used for the Seguin Artist in Residence Program at the Back River Institute, which is under development. Use of KAYAK's and CANOE's are included with rental and available at anytime during your stay NOTE: We also have a brand new tree dwelling with a wood fired cedar hot tub and a second bedroom, which can be converted into a living room space upon request. See our listing on Airbnb called "Modern Tree Dwelling with Water Views and Cedar Hot Tub"
We are located in the picturesque coastal village of Georgetown, Maine (which includes Five Islands). Reid State Park, with its beautiful, sandy beaches and hiking trails, is just a few miles from us in Georgetown. Be sure to visit the Five Islands Lobster Co., for best lobsters, lobster rolls, fish sandwich, corn on the cob--and harbor views. Five Islands Farm and Gourmet Market is excellent source of fine wine, beers, local produce, meats, cheeses, gifts. Also check out the Robinhood Free Meetinghouse online for local live music events. We are a ten minute drive from the town of Bath Maine which has great coffee shop (Cafe Creme), bookstore (the Mustard Seed), deli (Live Edge), grocery store (Bracket's Market), health food store (Bath Natural Market), great yoga studio (Ebb and Flow), BBQ (Beale St. BBQ), fine dining (Salt Pine Social), Maine Maritime Museum, and locally famous Reny's! We are 20 minutes from Brunswick with Bowdoin College, Sea Dog Brewery, Gelato Fiasco!, coffee shops, great restaurants and bar/restaurant/hangout (Frontier), indie movie theatre with couches (The Starlight). We are 30 minutes from Freeport, for original L.L. Bean store and outlets. We are 45 minutes from Portland, with its exploding, world-class restaurant/foodie scene.
  • The treehouse is amazing. I recommend planning on spending time at the treehouse and at Reid State Park. We really enjoyed the quiet and the views and left as little as possible.

    Katie2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • The treehouse was a slice of heaven on earth. The breezes blowing, the leaves rustling, the views of the bay and inlet, the bridge connecting bedroom to the kitchen & bath was fun and made us feel adventurous. Just a remarkable place. The design was rustic and yet had everything one would need. Just so thoughtfully and tastefully done. We loved the treehouse and our time there!!

    Rachel2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • This place is magical! My boyfriend and I love to visit Maine and this was our second time visiting the tree house. If you want to completely relax I highly recommend booking this tree house!

    Amber2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay here. It is cozy and the small space is very well thought-out. We loved sitting in the screened deck and taking in the morning views (chilly in September, but still nice!). The location is great; you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere, but it’s still very close to small local stores, shops, and small towns are not far either. Marsha is very helpful and provided many suggestions of things to see in the area. We totally planned our vacation around this beautiful Airbnb, and it was a great relaxing and nature-y experience. I’m not usually one to repeat trips, but I’ll be very tempted to visit here again someday!! Thanks Marsha!

The apartment not only is welcoming and cozy, but is also full of Moosehead Lake information, maps, restaurants, and all sorts of things to do (no matter the season!) The location is perfect to experience all that Maine has to offer!

  • Beautiful spot! Looking directly out at Lower Wilson. Vivian's place has everything you need to unwind and she is an amazing host. We were lucky enough to stay during a big snow storm and just be nice and cozy watching it fall. Great spot, great hosts, great value. Highly recommend it!

Closed until June 1st!! Come stay among moss covered spruce woods in our village of tiny homes and misfit animals. Due to restrictions we are only able to have one party per week so we encourage longer stays. However we understand restraints and allow 2 nights during the winter months. Bike three miles to picnic by the ocean, swim or to hike up the western mountains. Take a short drive to Southwest fresh seafood and entertainment. Even enjoy avant-garde theater in a rustic barn by the sea.
This home is built with bent maple poles in the style of an Iroquois Longhouse. There are large windows that let in the morning sun, space for storage, a wood stove perfect for winter stays and a cozy twin sized bed. Our property is located on a dead end road, please make sure to drive all the way to the end and park. We also have a very strict 10 mph speed limit on our road. It is important for our future that guests do not go over that limit. Thank you in advance.
Our tiny homes are sheltered in a quite mossy woodland. Just a mile walk from our land is a lake with wonderful swimming and fishing and the trailhead up the western mountains of Acadia. Take a two and a half mile bike ride in the opposite direction and you'll find yourself at a beautiful picnic spot by the ocean, the perfect place to enjoy a lobster bake as you watch the sun set.
  • Coyote’s den was more than what we dreamed it could be. Extremely cozy had all the comforts we needed, It was the perfect get away. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating and their animals were a delight.

    Nichole2020-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing! If you are looking for a piece of the woods without fully roughing it, this is it. We stayed very warm and comfortable throughout with the wood stove, had great responsiveness to any questions, and really enjoyed stopping by to see all the wonderful animals. Their big dog Cedar is a sweetheart! We will make a point to return here soon! Can’t say enough.

    Michael2020-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect hideaway in the woods of Maine, beautiful hiking in Acadia right up the street or can stay on site completely isolated and just enjoy the peace and quiet!! This was our second visit and loved it once again!!

    Katie2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was the most amazing Airbnb we have ever stayed at! It was so fun getting our own water from the well and visiting the animals. It really felt like we had escaped away from all societal problems at this property!

    Meadow2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Sleeping in the woods and waking up with the sun was a great, enriching experience. I have had a wonderful time there, the forest is beautiful, the cabin is very cosy. I have met Candace and she kindly showed me around the farm where I met all her farm animals (emeus, pigs, a poney, a great Anatolian sheperd...). The park is not far from here and the setting is beautiful. I recommend.

    Clara Louise2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had an incredibly memorable stay at this one-of-a-kind place marked by its artistic brilliance and natural beauty. Hope to return to the Howling Woods before too long!

    Samuel2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful experience in every regard, especially in clear and responsive communication with any questions — hope to visit again in the warmer months, but a lovely stay mid-winter as well.

Enjoy uninterrupted quiet on the Maine coast in our light-filled oceanfront cabin. Just 5 mins from lovely Boothbay Harbor for kayaking, sailing, hiking, seafood tasting, you name it! Or just relax at the cabin in a stunning natural setting. ** We block off one day before and after each reservation to minimize COVID risks between guests **
Enjoy uninterrupted peace and quiet on the Maine coast in this sweet, rustic cabin perfect for artists, writers, or anyone else wanting to unplug and unwind for a few days or weeks. This charming cabin, built in 1982, is situated only 50 feet from the water's edge, and, with only one house visible through the woods, it is difficult to find a more private location than this. The cabin is of rustic design, with one private bedroom and single common area that includes a kitchenette, eat-in table, couch, and TV (no cable though). Above the common area is a loft with a double bed mattress, accessible by a wooden ladder. Off the common area is an enclosed composting toilet. There is no shower so all washing up must be done in the bath tub. There is no internet or telephone connection. The small wood stove is no longer functional, but three portable electric heaters are kept permanently in the cabin for any chilly Maine nights. Such simple living is certainly not for everyone, but can be a tremendous treat for those interested in enjoying this beautiful natural setting. The cabin looks over a salt river (Back River) which is part of the ocean but looks more like a river/lake due to the protection of Barter's Island across the water. The cove that the cabin sits on is tidal, which means that half the time you are looking at the ocean and half the time it is a natural mud flat. So the view changes every 6 hours! To enjoy the water to its fullest when the tide is up, a double kayak may be rented from the property owners at a very reasonable rate. The cabin is located 5 minutes drive from lovely Boothbay Harbor, a stunning destination for travelers of all kinds. Enjoy fine local seafood, kayaking, whale watching, sunset sailing trips, and the charming downtown with its quaint shops. There are also many beautiful walking trails through the Boothbay Region Land Trust, along with one of the world's finest botanical gardens at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, located only 2 miles from the cabin. The owners of the cabin live on the adjacent property so any questions or concerns can be immediately addressed...
  • This cabin is gorgeous and in a wonderful location. The host is extremely helpful and informative about the local area. If we didn't live so far away we would be revisiting on a regular basis.

  • We enjoyed our stay. The description was accurate and the place was secluded. Small and quaint and just what my husband and I needed to unwind. I loved how clean it was and the small little touches left by the owners. The tips and maps were a helpful touch as well. Thank you we will be back.

    Brigette2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • A very sweet cabin w/ all the comforts of home.... including an old fashioned, deep bathtub w/ plenty of hot water to soak in. It is right on tidal for kayaking but you need to be aware of high and low tides to avoid getting stuck in the mud flats. It is also a bit challenging to get the kayaks into the water right near the cabin. We had a lovely stay and plenty to do on the one rainy day we had, w/ Boothbay Harbor so nearby, the Botanical Gardens, etc!

    Lois2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Have you ever smelled brilliant fresh pine at the same time as wide open sea? Have you ever stood before water as tranquil or trees as still as a loved ones whisper? Do you love nature but prefer not sleeping out on the rough ground? Well, friend, you've stumbled upon a beautiful opportunity. Truly, a short stay here will refresh your entire life.

    Quinn2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • I booked this airbnb for a weekend getaway for my parents to celebrate their anniversary. They absolutely loved the house, which they said had a great location on the water and had a very sweet history of past renters according to the log book. Ian was quick to respond and gave lots of suggestions for places to visit in the area. Would highly recommend!

    Madeline2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Words can't express the beauty and peacefulness of this unique location. Close to it all and yet far enough to escape, the river view will mesmerize you. The space is homey and everything we needed. We had a wonderful experience staying here and hope to come back soon.

The Walker House was built in the mid-1800s as a private home by Henry B. Walker who was wise enough to capitalize on all the clay in the soil in Maine and owned 3 brickyards. Now on The National Register of Historic Places, the house is located just over Portland townline so you’ll enjoy the space, quiet and safety of a family-oriented area with just minutes to the center of town.
  • The place was roomy and relaxing - a great place to unwind!

    Sara2020-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I were looking for a quiet place to spend the weekend and we got that and so much more! The space is beautifully decorated with antiques and art pieces, but is still cozy and functional. Communication with Pete was a breeze and our dog had the time of her life in the big fenced in yard. Absolutely would recommend to anyone!

  • A very spacious and charming airBnB. This space included a day bed which was great for reading books and relaxing. I enjoyed making both coffee and tea at the coffee bar atop an antique stove. The queen bed was very comfortable. It was easy to visit the Bug Light house, downtown Portland, and the Portland head lighthouse from this location. This location is also super close to Allagash and Definitive brewing!

She is extremely prompt with questions and responses. The apartment is incredibly clean and up to date with appliances and needs. Would love to visit again soon!

  • Angela was a wonderful host especially when it came to navigating a tricky situation. She responded quickly and was helpful and communicative.

  • What a great place to stay! It's close to downtown, close to Tandem bakery/coffee shop and within walking distance of all the shops and restaurants that Portland has to offer. The bed is comfortable, the kitchen is lovely, everything is so clean and self check in is easy with a combo lockset. It also has the cutest little travel iron we've ever seen. The listing is accurate, the spiral staircase is very fun but would not be easy to navigate if one was obese or had had too much to drink, especially at night. It requires a little focus and intention but we loved it! The availability of Netflix was a plus! Great little place!

    Vanessa2020-03-11T00:00:00Z

  • Angela’s place was cute and perfect for what we needed! The parking map was super helpful, as was the binder with all the local suggestions. The shower is great and I loved the spiral staircase - super cute! It was easy to call Lyft whenever we needed a ride and left the car parked in the street with free parking all weekend. Definitely a good spot to stay in Portland!

  • Andrea and Joe were gracious hosts. Their cozy home is perfect for anyone who is coming into town and wanting to be close to everything. There are lots of good restaurants and shops to walk to. The beaches are a very short drive from the house. It was the perfect Maine getaway.

  • Warm, charming, comfortable place to lay your head. It is exactly as described and very good value if you just need a base to come back to to sleep. Local restaurants, bars and cafes are very good, plentiful and very close by. Welcoming hosts who communicated quickly and provided lots of helpful local information.

    Jane2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed for one night at Andrea’s place. The bedroom was incredibly comfy and warm which was much appreciated as it was a cool fall night. Andrea and Joe were incredibly helpful offering restaurant recommendations and ideas for things to do in the area. We had a great stay!

    Sarina2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Andrea and Joe's place was wonderful! We only spent one night as we are doing a road trip for my husbands 40th birthday. Joe met us when we arrived and showed us around their home. He also gave us a ton of suggestions for places to eat and visit and said Andrea had made a book of things to do and left it by the door for guests convenience. The house is quite old but it was very quiet and clean. The bed was very comfortable and there is a thermostat right in the room. I really wish I could have tried the outdoor shower but it got pretty chilly and I chickened out! There are a bunch of unique items and decorations inside. There are several places to eat within walking distance and places to shop as well! Kennebunkport is a short drive with abundant shopping and restaurants as well as amazing views of the ocean. We spent a fair part of our evening exploring Kennebunkport and really enjoyed the Batson River Brewery and Distillery. We would definitely stay with Andrea and Joe again!

    Holly2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Andrea's was great. Will do it again.

This small, cozy, fully functional one bedroom apartment is walking distance to everything that the city of Portland has to offer. It's an older building with a lot of character.
There is parking for 1 vehicle, but we always tell our guests to check the street first, as it’s free parking and typically not an issue finding a spot in the neighborhood.
It's easy to get to wherever you're going.
  • I had a fantastic stay here with Nick and Sara! The place is exactly as it appears in the photos and very well set up. Coffee and creamer was supplied and the kitchen was well equipped. There was lovely natural light during the day and thoughtful touches like extra blankets, and toiletries provided. The Wifi was easily accessible and the Roku was great to enjoy Netflix! I was able to set the heat at my desired level of cozy and the bed was extremely comfortable! Check-in was effortless with key lockbox code provided prior to arrival. I really appreciated that they followed the CDC guidelines for anti-microbial cleanliness during the Covid-19 pandemic. Nick and Sara were so lovely and responded with prompt communication. Could not recommend this place more!

At the end of a quiet gravel road, down a winding dirt driveway, secreted away among the pines and along the cool waters of the Crooked River, you’ll find a house… -- This *highly* secluded off-grid eco-retreat is the only development on a 480-acre peninsula of property bordered by the Crooked River, home to landlocked salmon, trout and Southern Maine's drinking water supply. A quiet seasonal getaway for solitude seekers. Available for booking May through November.
The 200-square-foot Crooked River Tiny House is truly at one with nature, nestled on a 3.5 acre piece of land cut from the Western Maine woods, the nearest neighbor is about a mile away. Somewhere in the space between camping and glamping, this unique property is admittedly not for everyone, but those who do come always leave in awe of the peace, coziness and ingenuity that defines their stay. Please note that there is no electricity or running water anywhere on the property, although we do maintain a small solar setup inside the house. Guests are expected to bring their own water for drinking and cooking, and sheets and pillowcases (we can provide linens for a small additional washing fee). All other water can be gathered from the river, a short hike down a trail from the house. Other amenities include: - Sleeping loft with queen-size memory foam bed - A variety of pillows, comforters and blankets - Full-size sofa bed on ground floor - Solar battery for charging devices and powering our single electric light - Various lanterns, flashlights and headlamps - Three-burner gas cooktop - Sink basin (remember, no running water!) - Cooler (please provide your own ice) - Woodstove for cold Maine nights (wood is provided) - Seasonal outdoor hand-pump shower (collect river water to fill) - "Guesthouse" with additional full-size futon bed, about 50 feet from main house - Clean, non-smelly outhouse with composting toilet in the guesthouse - Elevated screen house custom built from reclaimed screen doors - Chair and table, hammocks and solar light in screen house - Fire Pit (we provide the wood!) - Tubes to use on the river and nearby lakes - Dry goods, oils, spices, dishes, cups and mugs, silverware and cookware - All the quiet, rest and relaxation you can handle! Please note that May through September in Maine can be very buggy, with mosquitos and black flies being the main offenders. As we are situated in the middle of the woods, ticks are also a reality. Please bring bug spray (we have some at the house), stay on the paths and trails, and do a tick check when you come in!
There is a store, Melby's Eatery, two miles away with excellent diner food, sandwiches, homemade pizzas and more. Owners are gay-friendly, and own a small gas station just before the store. There's also a pretty cool bison farm just beyond Melby's that is owned by some great progressive types that we've come to refer to as neighbors. Marta's bakery--next door to that--is the real European deal (and mostly just open in the summer). 76 Pleasant St. in Norway has probably the best Portland-caliber food in all of Western Maine. And Norway Brewing Company is not to be missed for their great craft brews and food – and their amazing outdoor patio in the summer. A little further out in Oxford, you'll find the Oxbow Brewery tasting room, where you can sample their delicious beer and wood-fired pizzas. Pietree Orchard in Sweden, owned by Tabitha King (aka Stephen King's wife) is another great spot for fresh produce, cider donuts and, yes, amazing wood-fired pizzas. Basically, there are things to do and places to explore if getting shacked up makes you antsy, or you just desire to hit up some local flavors. Most people arrive at the house with bigger plans but just end up staying in...
  • This tiny house is truly amazing! Fully stocked with everything you can think of, even pancake mixes, oats, rice, and skittles! Cups, plates, pots, pans- all there. Way more than any other air bnb we’ve stayed at. Plenty of blankets, pillows, wood for fires, games, puzzles, etc. The only thing we wish we brought is paper plates as it was tough doing dishes with water bottles. So glad we were able to get away from the craziness of COVID-19 to celebrate my boyfriends birthday with our two pups. We spent the mornings in the screened in porch on the hammocks listening to the birds, hiked during the day, and cooked over the fire at night. So relaxing and such a perfectly secluded weekend get away. We will definitely be back. If you don’t book, you’re missing out on this hidden gem!

  • This tiny house is so much fun. We always have a great time when we visit. It’s very quiet and relaxing. Everything you can imagine that you will need or want (besides water-make sure you bring your own :)) is at the tiny home. Games, headlamps, lighters, Tim foil, skittles, pancake mix, rice, the list goes on! The host is very nice and responds quickly. I highly recommend staying in the tiny home and time of year.

  • Crooked River tiny house is one of my absolute favorite spots to adventure to. Through the years, I've made it back to this serene spot and am amazed every time. It's always super clean and welcoming, and Keith's communication makes arranging everything so easy. I can't say enough good things about this spot. I hope all who are lucky enough to make it out there get to enjoy the same peaceful adventure. Thanks, Keith!

  • Stayed here before and came back to celebrate a snowy NYE with friends and my dog. So fun to explore the winter wonderland (we got over a foot of snow!) and Keith was quick to respond about plowing so we could get out okay. 11/10 recommend!

  • This tiny house is wonderful and unique. Keith did everything for us to feel at home! We highly recommend this place to others!

  • This is the perfect place to unplug, unwind, and reconnect with yourself and the natural world for a few days. I wish we had stayed a little longer. The location is beautiful and secluded, exactly what we were looking for.

  • A wonderful stay, only stayed one night and planned to hike the next day but it was so nice we spent the morning in and then the day in the town checking out the stores. The tiny house was so much cooler than expected and our dog loved running around outside.

  • Very peaceful and quiet- just what I was looking for.

    Lucy2020-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great getaway. The cabin is located near great hiking trails but it’s also such a cozy cabin that it’s great to just stay in, relax and play board games. The cabin is very warm in the winter. I was worried it would be difficult to use the gas stove but it was very easy and a beautiful place to cook dinner.

    Nicole2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Jacqui’s cabin was the perfect comfortable retreat from the hustle and bustle. It was on a private, quiet road with all the basic amenities needed for a relaxing stay. The kitchen was fully equipped and everything was very clean. We weren’t able to use the kayaks as the water was still frozen, but that would’ve been a great addition to our stay. We will most definitely want to visit again!

    Amanda2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Would come back again. Great experience.

    Kelly2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Super cozy cabin in a highly desirable location! Highly recommended. Propane fireplace is awesome. Great hikes nearby. We went snowshoeing. Will be back!

    Joey2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A true sanctuary, peaceful, beautiful, cozy. I can't wait to stay again!

    Katelyn2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is an awesome little spot to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. It is a good mixture of camping and off grid living with a bit of electricity for string lights, a heater to aid in keeping February's freezing weather at bay, and a fan for cooling in the summer. This was my 3rd visit. All visits have been in the colder months but knowing there is access to the pond in the summer, I bet those of you that like to get in and on the water would love it here. There's also a hiking trail 1/10th of a mile up the road. It was too slippery for me to go too far as there was still much snow and ice on it when I visited. I will be back in the area to see how far I can go once it melts a bit more. Come here with a heart and soul open to adventure and you will be sure to have a great time.

It is centrally located in a lovely neighborhood. Amanda was very quick to respond to every question we had.

Cottage Style Attached Studio with nautical theme! Contact-free self check-in. A/C, lots of windows and ceiling fans. Clean and comfortable space. Enjoy access to Harpswell’s 216 miles of coastline via coastal trails, small beaches and preserves. Fresh lobster and seafood!
PLEASE READ the description of our studio and outdoor space in its entirety. There may be a bit of duplication - sorry for that. :) Let us know if you have any questions. While we hope to continue offering our space with no additional cleaning charge, in light of ongoing coronavirus concerns we are asking all our guests to wipe down all surfaces just prior to their departure. This will be detailed in the house manual. We greatly appreciate your assistance and cooperation with this request. MAKE PLANS NOW for a vacation or “mini vacay” to remember in Harpswell! We are consistently fully booked for the summer and early fall season. Minimum number of nights may vary. Welcome to your home away from home! You’ll want to relax and take your time here - so much to see and do! Just a short drive to sunsets beyond belief!! Maine was recently listed among the top 5 worldwide places to visit in 2020 by Lonely Planet. (October 24, 2019) You will find our guidebook (in the studio) insider tips to be invaluable and they will make your stay so much more enjoyable! No added cleaning fee! Pet-free space! Newly installed efficient ductless heat pump for warmth in the winter months and quiet cooling in the summer months. Turn on the propane woodstove style heater for ambiance. Picture a toasty fire with real flames as you enjoy a glass of wine. No drafty seasonal space - bask in year-round comfort regardless of the weather! Enjoy a nice hot chlorine free shower with well water! (like all families with a well, we still need to be mindful of excessive usage - thank you in advance for your help with this!) And excellent drinking water - no need to buy bottled water! We have room for one or two vehicles maximum. Kindly let us know if you will have more than one vehicle. This is a smoke-free space - no smoking (cigarettes or marijuana) , candles or incense are allowed. Once you are here, you will appreciate how stunning this area is! Our studio is a good value in desirable Harpswell. We are THE BEST-SITUATED AirBnb on the Route 24 side of Harpswell leading down to Orrs and Bailey Island for visiting Bath, Brunswick and Topsham and for getting on the highway to venture further. All of these towns are just a few miles and less than 15 minutes away. Bowdoin College is just 6 miles (12 minutes) away. The studio is located at the back of our house considerably far from the road. We live on a two acre piece of property. We are on a busy road, but this means that we are very accessible to many amazing destinations including small beaches (some you need to know how to reach) and hiking trails within 20 minutes and two state parks with beaches within 35 minutes. Our 488 square foot (45 square meters) studio on one level (slight step up between rooms) features a private entrance, bedroom area, large efficiency kitchenette (see details below) and private shower bath. The surprisingly spacious area is bright and airy with lots of windows, high ceilings, two skylights that open and two ceiling fans. The decor is comfortable and eclectic rather than contemporary. We’ve decorated the studio with original artwork and a few nautical touches. Outside you will have your own personal sun space with seasonal gas grill, table and chairs. Lovely garden and water views from our property! Check out our two small sitting areas across the road with spectacular and expansive views of the New Meadows River! Consider it part of our shared outdoor space - it just happens to be across the road. We have tidal water access. All use of this area is at your own risk. Water shoes or sandals are necessary for swimming and use is dependent upon the daily high tide schedule. You have approximately 1.5 to 2 hours before and after high tide for swimming. The ”efficiency plus” kitchenette area features a refrigerator, separate upright freezer, kitchen sink, microwave, countertop convection oven (with toaster feature), coffee maker, glass electric hot water/tea kettle, single state of the art glass induction cooktop (gets rave reviews - heats up fast!), and an electric skillet. We ask that you make every effort to operate only two high wattage appliances at one time. We provide pots and pans, cooking utensils, silverware, tea, coffee, olive oil, butter, condiments, milk and flavored coffee creamer. REGARDING LOBSTERS (A Harpswell Specialty) : We want our space to be fresh, odor free and welcoming, so we ask our guests to refrain from deep fat frying or indoor steaming of lobsters and clams. Outdoor seasonal cooking of lobster and clams may be available with advance notice. Year round at Gurnet Trading (1 minute up the road) you can order lobsters cooked to order and other seafood and non-seafood meals for eat in or take out. Erica’s (open Mother’s Day Weekend to Columbus Day Weekend) is well worth the 25 minute drive to the other side of Harpswell for freshly prepared seafood - a guest favorite! Steamed lobster at market prices with just a slight upcharge! And in Brunswick, a few more places offer steamed lobsters year-round. The studio has a queen bed with soft cotton sheets in the bedroom area along with a newly added futon couch (double). There’s also a pullout queen size couch in the living room. Regarding the sleeping arrangements - it's your choice as to using EITHER the futon in the bedroom area or the queen sized pullout couch as the second bed option. Please let us know so we can leave linens for the second bed for your arrival. We think the space is perfect for two people or at most three good friends or three family members. Both parts of the studio have cathedral ceilings and ceiling fans. The living area has rough-hewn beams that are original to the house and two skylights. There are privacy drapes separating the sleeping from the living space. The living room area has a 42 in HDTV with DirecTV including HBO. (subject to change) We provide an Amazon FireStick (current apps include NetFlix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu - these are subject to change) and a dvd player (there are some dvds in the studio and many other dvds and cds readily available - just ask). Redbox is at several nearby locations. We offer both wifi and an ethernet "hardwire”. Please note that our studio is NOT child proofed. The studio adjoins our home and is separated by a wall and a pantry. Two supermarkets are just up the road (7 minute drive - Shaw's or Walmart), so you can easily get provisions for your stay. Zach's store (2 minute drive) has an excellent selection of wine, beer, liquor (hard liquor prices are the same everywhere in Maine), pizza and some groceries. If you want a big breakfast, we will be happy to recommend one of the local breakfast spots. Cooks Corner shopping area in Brunswick with TJMAXX, BigLots, Shaw’s, Walmart, Staples, Applebee’s, etc. is just 3.5 miles up the road, but we might as well be a world away across the Gurnet Bridge here in Harpswell. We provide a soft side cooler, cool packs and a couple beach towels. If you have kayaks or bicycles, bring them along! There are many public boat launches in the area (one is just a minute away) and some good areas for bicycling as well, particularly the nearby former Navy base. There are also three kayak and paddleboard rental places (two that deliver) and arranged kayak tours available as well as sailboat, schooner, ferry and charter boat tours. (seasonal) And to prospective home buyers - we have a few friends in the business!
We are in a residential area conveniently located to many of the area highlights. We are so spoiled here with scenery and little getaway places! There’s a year round seafood place less than a mile and one minute by car! Eat in or takeout! (5% cash discount). Close by there’s a general store with beer, wine, spirits - and pizza! We are in one of the lobster "capitals" of the world!!! Fresh off the boat and so tasty!! Shopping!! Just 6 minutes (3.5 miles) but worlds away to TJMAXX, Sears, Walmart, Bed Bath & Beyond, Bath and Bodyworks, Goodwill, BigLots, DollarTree, etc. Just 15 minutes (6.5 miles) to Target, Reny's, etc. Just 24 minutes (9.5 miles) to all the stores and outlets in Freeport including LL Bean flagship store (open 24 hours, 365 days per year) and the LL Bean outlet store. Breweries!! There are more than 20 breweries within a 45 minute drive, with some as close as 15 minutes away. Check out the Maine Beer Trail! We are very close to Flight Deck, Moderation, Sea Dog, Black Pug and Bath Brewing. Flight Deck is an especially fun place with outdoor and indoor seating. Feel free to bring your own food or order from the food truck.. Moderation is also BYOF. You will need a car to get around, but the driving is easy! You can choose to head towards "civilization" or head in the other direction away from the hustle and bustle - or do a little bit of both. Harpswell is a paradise for lobster lovers and for those who love seafood of all kinds. Unspoiled beauty abounds! Harpswell consists of Great Island, Orr's Island, Bailey Island and the peninsula of South Harpswell. We are surrounded by saltwater here! Late June, July, August and September are simply enchanting! Nearby Brunswick is a college town, so there's plenty to do there - lots of restaurants, several museums and beaches and trails that you can walk along every day of the year. We are directly across the road from the New Meadows River. This saltwater river goes out to Casco Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Our home is located midway between the fun and charming town of Brunswick and the city of Bath (The City of Ships, voted "best main street" recently) We are on Great Island in Harpswell on the way to the Harpswell islands of Orr's Island and Bailey Island. The peninsula of South Harpswell is just across the Mountain Road. This area is a year-round destination for enjoying Maine hospitality and scenery. Grocery stores and many shops and restaurants are within 5 to 15 minutes by car. A favorite outdoor seafood place (byob, cash only)- Erica's - is located on the other side of Harpswell and is open from Mother's Day Weekend to Columbus Day Weekend. Erica's is a must see destination featured in Coastal Living Magazine in June 2018 issue. Harpswell and the neighboring towns of Topsham, Bath and Brunswick have many nature preserves, hiking trails, public boat launches, a riverfront bicycle trail, river and ocean views and walks. What's really great is that many of the natural scenery can be enjoyed for free - so you can plan a whole day for only the cost of your food - brown bag it, get takeout, or dine in a restaurant. There are 184 restaurants in total in the towns of Harpswell, Brunswick, Bath and Topsham according to TripAdvisor. For nature enthusiasts, get a taste of what you can see by going to the Harpswell Heritage Land Trust website. Brunswick also has Bowdoin College with Maine State Music Theatre and the International Music Festival throughout the summer. Bowdoin College also has two museums (an Arctic and an art museum) and the Chamberlain House Museum is just across the street. Bowdoin often has events and performances that are open to the public. So much to do -consignment store shopping, watching a movie at nearby Regal Cinemas feature film movie theater or the independent movie theater or scheduled dinner, live entertainment and film options at the Frontier cafe. Smitty's in Topsham offers movies and food at the same time! Four theaters to choose from with Regal Cinemas just a five minute drive away! We are just off Route 1, so we're in a great location to explore Mid Coast Maine for day trips. Visit Rockland/Camden/Rockport, Wiscasset, Boothbay Harbor, Damariscotta all within an hour and 20 minutes or less drive. The Maine Maritime Museum is located in Bath. It offers river cruises in the summer. We are less than 20 minutes (12 miles) from Live Well Farm, a very popular venue for weddings and retreats. The intriguing and fun city of Portland (with a tremendous number of restaurants, breweries, bars, museums, lighthouses, beaches etc.) is an easy 35 minute drive. Portland has become THE foodie destination- recently voted #1 by Bon Appetit magazine (2018). Augusta, Maine's capitol city, is also about 40 minutes away. Take a spectacular noontime scenic cruise of Casco Bay just down the road from us on Bailey Island (June 22 - Sept 2, 2019). USA's #1 voted favorite place (according to Good Morning America 2014 poll) Acadia National Park is a three hour drive. We're a good stopping point on the way to Acadia in Bar Harbor if you are heading north. There are some beaches and special places that are only accessible off season - yet another reason to visit any time of the year! Beaches are almost always walkable -even when there's snow on the ground. Schedule horseback riding on Popham Beach from October 1st through March 31st. We have many brochures and a helpful “cheat sheet”, so you can put off the planning until you arrive and then comfortably explore the area. Many of our guests have used our Harpswell Heritage Land Trust brochure with a map, description and directions to some amazingly beautiful places that require only an easy hike or drive to visit.
  • Bill and his wife Alane have a hidden treasure in Harpswell. I couldn’t recommend this stay enough to anyone.

  • This studio apartment is located on one of the most beautiful peninsulas in Maine, literally across the street from a coastal inlet - which dramatically fills up, and then empties to mud flats during low tide! So much to do in this area, with close proximity to a Country Store and a Lobster Shack in less than a mile. Also close proximity to Freeport, Bath, and Brunswick... under a half hour... and myriads of outdoor and Hiking choices. The hosting couple thought of everything! From spices to bathroom needs, everything was addressed and provided that we had forgotten to take! Plenty of towels and sheets. Very clean place. They are also personable and conversational, but very respectful of our privacy as well. Lots of television options, too. Hope to stay there again in the future!

  • My boyfriend and I loved our stay at Bill and Alane's. They are in fact, superhosts! The place was super comfortable and spotless and we would have been happy staying there longer. Don't hesitate to book a stay here

  • Bill and Alane’s place is lovely - super quaint and cozy. Alane was very quick to respond to my messages, even though she and Bill were away for the first day or so. Alane made us pancakes one morning - they were delicious! She gave us recommendations on what to do in the area, but also gave us space to do our own thing. Also, their dog Jimmy is adorable :)

  • We had a great stay at Katrina’s place. The space was warm and had all the amenities we needed - it was so quiet and peaceful. Car parking was great and it was within walking distance to plenty of restaurants etc. We’d happily stay at Katrina’s place when we are in the area again.

    Edward2020-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Katrina was super accommodating and responsive to our questions. The place is adorable, spotlessly clean, and in an awesome location to downtown Portland! We would definitely stay there again!

  • Amazing location for visiting Portland. Perfect for couples.

    Karlsen2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • For me, traveling on a tight budget, my favorite part was the full kitchen, as I could prep meals during my stay instead of always eating out. Grocery stores (including Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods) are only a couple of minutes away by car- very convenient! The skylights are a really charming feature, and things are decorated so nicely. I felt right at home!

Experience living in this brick rowhouse with all the amenities! Walking distance to the finest restaurants, museums, theaters, etc. Apartment has been remodeled while keeping all the fine details intact. Very quiet, safe and clean. City of Portland, ME Short Term Registration 0941
Living in Portland's downtown peninsula on the most historic street will make you want to stay!
Neighborhood boasts the best restaurants and is a 3 minute walk to the Museum of Art, a must-see if this is your first time in Portland! Very quiet and safe.
  • Very good location - within about 1/3 of a mile of multiple restaurants and shops within the center of Portland. Very walkable. Spacious apartment, really historic and cute to stay there, good view of the city from the windows. Stylish and cozy and great location. Good recommendations for local places too.

    Amanda2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great location! The apartment itself was cute, it has great views and lots of sunlight. Having an assigned parking spot and key-less entry was great and convenient. I would recommend this place to others going to Portland.

  • Kevin and Cecile have a wonderful apartment. It is very bright and cheery. It is located perfectly for exploring the city and there are numerous restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk of stepping outside. The apartment was spotless with a very, very comfortable bed. We will definitely be back.

    Jennie2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Kevin and Cecile’s place was so great for a weekend away. The location is perfect, you can literally walk everywhere. I didn’t realize check out was at 10am and was leaving around 11:30 when I asked if I could store my bags at the house while I walked around for the day. Not only did they not say anything about my late check out time, they let me keep my bags there for a few hours while I was able to walk around and enjoy the day without a huge backpack on. Thank you guys so much! If I am ever back in Portland I would love to stay here again.

Chill on the porch after exploring a scenic local walking trail and soak up the serenity of this breezy blue and white hideaway. Striped oars, starfish, smooth shells, and ocean scenes blend with shades of teal and aqua for a thoroughly calm space.
    The entire space. It’s private
The property is close to Portland, Brunswick, Lewiston, and Augusta. There are beaches and scenic trails nearby, as well as Route 1, which hugs the ocean. The White Mountains are also within easy reach for adventurers.
  • Marcia’s place is great! Close to restaurants and close to Topsham, which is a good shopping area. The apartment is very clean, comfortable, and very well decorated. It had everything we needed for our stay. Márcia and her husband are wonderful and quick to respond to any messages.

    Flávia2020-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay and would recommend to others. We'll definitely stay again.

    Miryam2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Marcia’s place was spotless & the pictures accurately depicted the space. Marcia greeted us upon arrival and was very welcoming. Nice touches included a welcome board with our name on it, basket of oatmeal & snack bars, local area guides/restaurant menus, and large selection of coffee K cups & teas. The location worked out well for us 50+ minutes to gardens aglow & ~36 mins to Portland.

    Betty2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Cute and quiet place centrally located! Worked out perfectly for our needs. Marcia communicated quickly with check-in procedures.

    Tammy2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Despite its previous excellent reviews, we were delighted to discover that Marcia’s place exceeded expectations. She was highly responsive from the moment of my first inquiry, and made it a point to welcome us personally. We had every single thing we might have wanted or needed — and more. We also appreciated coffee and other basics for the kitchen, special (and well-marked) touches such as extra pillows and quilts, and an incredible bathroom set-up (best ever in any airbnb in which we’ve stayed!). While still at Marcia’s, we hoped to book a return, but the optimal dates in summer were already gone.... We will try again, and in the meantime grazie mille.

    Marie2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely space! Marcia provided everything we needed to feel comfortable and at home.

  • Loved it so clean so nice

    Caleb2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay at this place! It immediately felt like home, and the little details did not go unnoticed or unappreciated. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, granola bars, and oatmeal. Very thoughtful items to include in the kitchen. A very clean atmosphere, spotless. The mattress was unbelievably comfortable, and the neighborhood was so quiet that we were able to sleep through the night for once (both nights of our stay!). Before staying here, I had no idea how disappointing my own water heater was. The shower stays nice and warm and heats up quickly. For a chilly November stay, me and my joints were pleasantly surprised by how warm it stayed inside! Thank you so much for our stay, I recommend this to anyone looking for accommodations in the area!

Camp Wigwam! Lakefront cottage on North Pond just minutes away from Sunday River and Mt. Abrams. Stay in comfort with all the amenities. Ski, snowshoe, ice fish, hike, boat, swim or just relax at camp. WiFi with a Smart TV - access to Netflix, Amazon and other options. Close to Bethel with lovely restaurants, bars and other fun things to do. Great for kids, couples and families. Very easy to get to all year round. Follow us on Instagram @campwigwamme.
  • A well stocked house in a beautiful location. House has all the conveniences you would want and the location can’t be beat. Bryant pond is right in the backyard. Lots of local hiking nearby and you’re not too far from local restaurants and stores. Had the best time just hanging in the backyard enjoying the fire pit.

  • Heather's cottage was a great weekend lakeside in Maine. The house was well equipped with everything we needed during our stay. Very comfortable stay. Heather's communication was unmatched and quickly addressed any questions we had. Great hospitality and would love to stay again in the summer months!!

    Elizabeth2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is fabulous! It is decorated so nicely and the views of the lake behind the cabin are fabulous! The cabin was incredibly clean and fully stocked with towels, sheets, paper products, etc. The hosts even left a few toiletry items in the bathroom, which was a nice touch! The cabin has everything in the kitchen you need to eat on/with and to prepare meals. There is a grocery store about 10-15 minutes down the road in downtown Bethel. We arrived when it was dark and it was a little difficult to find (when Airbnb added the reservation to my google calendar it put in the wrong address, which may have just been a glitch), but if you follow the address on the listing, you will be able to find it more easily! We used the cabin for a ski trip to Sunday River. The resort is only about a 15-20 minute drive away (its only three turns after you turn out of the driveway). Mt. Abram, another ski area, is only about 5-10 minutes away. We used the cabin in winter, which made for a cool experiencing of walking out on the frozen lake. However, this cabin would be so much fun in warmer months too when you could throw open the door and windows (there are screens) and let the natural air flow through the house. Overall, this was a delightful experience and I would stay here again!

  • This is such a cute place! Very well kept, clean, cute and stylish, super well stocked with everything you would need, and a beautiful backyard view! Heather responds right away to any questions. We will definitely come back to this place when we’re in the area again and recommend to others!

    Tobi2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great place and Heather was wonderful. Close to everything. Skiing, snowshoeing and restaurants. Would go back anytime.

    Sarah2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended! Heather's place is the perfect, cozy cabin right on the lake with incredible views.. the house itself is extremely clean, has everything you would need & is only 15 mins from Sunday River (which is why we were there) but we are definitely looking forward to coming back during the summer! Heather is also very easy to contact if you need anything!

    Jillian2020-02-23T00:00:00Z

License#STHR0011152019 Spacious 1 bedroom w/living room, eat-in kitchen and bath in ideal Portland peninsula location, walk to all. situated on the edge of the west end and downtown. 2 blocks from the ocean. Walk everywhere in this central, historic, perfect location. Easy street parking. Simple furnishings, older retro flair. 2nd floor of 3 unit Victorian on dead end, quiet street. Queen bed and futon sleeps up to four. There is no parking but often spaces are available on this dead end street
Please read carefully: This is a well-loved apartment in an 1875 building full of sunlight, with Hardwood floors and tall ceilings, you'll be in a classic Portland "triple decker" Victorian building surrounded by the stunning architecture of portland's historic west end. You can walk anywhere in town within minutes. Basic kitchen and bathroom essentials provided. One queen memory foam bed and one fouton can sleep up to four. Large living space-this is an older apartment with older kitchen and bath-it is simple-not luxurious or modern-but it is clean and in the best location. Please appreciate the value of my space-that it is affordable, clean and large, with a retro flare and in a very desirable neighborhood, walking distance to everything on the peninsula. however, be advised, there is no tv and towels do not match and I have never been to ikea. This is the 2nd floor of a 3 unit and the second floor walk-up has steep steps, consider this if you have mobility issues. One Window a/c unit in bedroom, radiator heat (steam heat=white noise which apparently bothers some) I live below and tenants live on the third floor-you will hear occasional sounds throughout the building from residents and even though it is a quiet street you may still hear people on the street (it is an apartment in a city-after all). There is no parking for air bnb-even though there is a driveway-the spaces belong to tenants...guests parking in the driveway for a few minutes to unload luggage is fine..guests have usually been able to park easily right on my street at no cost. Street parking is free on most streets in the neighborhood-Just read the signs as there are usually 2 nights a month overnight parking is not allowed on certain streets for cleaning. Guests arriving late in the evening may have trouble finding street parking. There is also a $5 daily parking lot on commercial street next to Irving gas station about a 3 minute walk. This is a quiet building and no partying is allowed. The apartment is located on a dead end street off park street on the right called Stetson ct-it is a block away from the landmark historic Victorian mansion on park street and danforth. Additionally, early check-in or late check-out can most likely be accommodated with a $20 fee. That said anyone staying beyond the 11 am check out for whatever circumstances will receive a $20 payment request.. Thanks
Portland's west end is such an amazing neighborhood, wandering through these tree lined streets filled with incredible architecture is one of my favorite pastimes. Smile at everyone out for a stroll and enjoy the beauty and character surrounding you. Rosemont market, oh no cafe, and speckled axe coffee are all staples of the west end. Commercial street is two blocks away and uptown or downtown are both 10 minute walks.
  • My stay here was great it was a cozy great space. If your looking to explore Portland it’s perfect a place to cook dinner sleep and just relax with a bottle of wine and curl up to a good book. The place was clean everything I needed was there it felt really home like! And had these little notes that were a cute touch!

  • Although the pictures are great, this place is larger and better than they portray. The look-through fireplace, TWO enclosed porches and cathedral ceiling gives this small space a big feel. Just off the road yet you feel the privacy of the woods. Clean, comfortable and a great place to relax away from it all. I fell in love with this place and wish I could stay there often!

    Jennifer2020-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • Genius construction. Never stayed at a small place with so many interesting spaces. Clean, creative, well supplied, well decorated. More amenities than we needed but had fun testing them out. Kids enjoyed scrabble and listening to Jessie’s Girl on the radio in the rock and roll Jacuzzi. Everything as advertised.

This modern, four-season cottage looks out over the Benjamin River, towards the Eggemoggin Reach. There is water access at high tide. Large glass windows flood the space with sun and provide gorgeous views. The single-story cottage sleeps four in the two bedrooms and could accommodate more on the couch in the living room. The beautiful, coastal setting provides the perfect location for a quiet getaway.
The house is situated only feet away from the tidal Benjamin River. Water views are possible from three sides of the house. The open-floor plan includes a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, and living room. The entire house is tiled, with radiant heat to ensure comfortable temperatures, no matter the season. The two bedrooms (one with a double bed, one with twin-size bunkbeds) each have access to a full bath. The master suite opens to the outdoor deck. Total privacy and seclusion is guaranteed. Enjoy the silence and the dark night skies.
Sedgwick is a small village on the Blue Hill Peninsula. It's very rural and quiet. Blue Hill (a 15-minute drive away) offers restaurants and shopping. Stonington, a picturesque fishing village, is also a short drive away (17 miles; about 1/2 hour). Lots of opportunities for hiking, boating, birdwatching, beachcombing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, or just watching the tide come in and out.
  • The cottage is well appointed, clean and airy. Everything you need to have a wonderful, relaxing time is there! Large views of the water from most windows is just spectacular. It’s quiet, tucked away and the foliage is so pretty. Our host was both considerate and non intrusive, yet communicated well, kept cottage stocked and had plenty of information available in the cottage to order food, sightseeing activities etc. even binoculars!!

    Jeri2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a delightful retreat, a beautiful winter or summer stay. The furnishings could not be better, and the beauty of the water, the elegance of the cabin, and the opportunity to see brilliant stars at night made this a wonderful respite.

  • Anne was very responsive and even reached out the week of our stay to check in with us. Unfortunately, due to an illness in the family we had to cancel our trip. Anne’s quick and very thorough response to questions was very much appreciated.

    Iona2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Anne’s cottage is the perfect getaway. Everything you could need in the kitchen is at your fingertips. Each room is comfy and cozy. We loved the warm tile floor on chilly mornings. Then there’s the view...oh my, the view! Gorgeous!

    Jeri2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second stay here. I love Anne’s cottage. Here my blood pressure automatically goes down. The beautiful and ever changing views, the walks on the shore when the tide is out, the quiet, the efficient layout of the cottage, the comfortable furniture, cleanliness - just what is needed to recharge the batteries. (P.S. if you plan to cook a lot, knives need sharpening, or bring your own). Thanks Anne. You are definitely a Superhost!

At this time we are keeping the property vacant for at least a day between guests. This allows us to complete a very thorough disinfecting process. This home is a 15 minute drive from beautiful Biddeford Pool beach. The home is tucked away in a quiet suburban neighborhood but just 1 mile from the many restaurants of downtown Biddeford. Portland is 30 minutes north and Kennebunkport 30 minutes south. There are so many wonderful restaurants in our town.
You have this house to yourself, an enclosed private back yard, and comfortable front porch. There are two bedrooms , each with a queen bed. In the living room is a pull-out couch if a third bed is desired.
  • Pat's place was a perfect spot for us as we traveled to Maine to visit the UNE campus. The space was much larger than expected with lovely art on the walls and plenty of space to relax and unwind. Would definitely stay here again.

Recently renovated modern studio cottage, located in a quiet Portland neighborhood only a 7-10 minute drive (and $9 Uber ride) from downtown Portland, the Old Port, and all local visitor attractions. Allagash Brewing is just a mile down the road, and you are within walking distance (.5 mi) of the bars and restaurants at Morrill's Corner. Everything in my cottage is new, hand-made, or 'upcycled' (my hobbies include refinishing antique furniture and building furniture).
Sliding barn door for the bathroom, custom-made concrete countertop, handmade furniture and refinished antiques, USB ports for charging electronic devices. Modern rustic: the best of the old world and the new! As a frequent traveler myself, I put a lot of thought into what makes a stay a fun, convenient, and relaxing experience, and designed some of the amenities and layout with that in mind. I hope you enjoy!
Even though it's only a short drive away from downtown, my neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful. You can look at the stars and fall asleep to the sound of crickets after a fun night in town. Local neighborhood pubs (Samuels, Bruno's Tavern) and restaurants (Susan's Fish & Chips, Po' Boys & Pickles, Bruno's, Babylon) are located a short 10-minute walk away. The complex that hosts Allagash Brewing Company, Foundation Brewing, and Austin St Brewing is a short 25-30 minute walk away (and passes Noble BBQ, one of the best bbq restaurants in Portland).
  • Great location. It’s cute and cozy, perfect for two people.

  • Tony’s cottage is the cutest and most comfortable little setup! He was very friendly and helpful and includes a folder with local trails and places to find great food. We recommend giving his place a stay!

  • Tony was very accommodating- responded quickly to my messages. A great place and perfect location!

  • Tony’s place is great. We were able to make breakfast every morning on the stovetop which was perfect. The place was adorable & a great location. We’d definitely come back again!

  • Lovely and quirky in every corner! If you have a car, this is an excellent place to stay in Portland.

  • Tony's cabin was a solid jumping off point for my adventures around the Portland/Cape Elizabeth area. I had several different filming locations I had to commute to every morning, and it always seemed an acceptable commute. As far as local amenities, I only eat at Amatos when I'm in town so not the best person to discuss that.

  • Tony’s place is so charming and comfortable! Small, but very cute and perfect for two people who want a cabin getaway, still close to the lively city of Portland! :) The place is very clean, and Tony was the ideal host— responsive and helpful. We felt confident that if we needed anything, he was a short text message or call away! When we arrived, an essential oil diffuser was on, which made it feel like home right away. We miss it already!

  • Tony's little cabin was perfection! His design style and creativity is awesome. All the amenities you need for a weekend away. Very comfortable bed pillows and furniture. The kitchen is anything to people could want so you don't have to eat out for three meals a day. Location to Olde Port and all surrounding towns is fantastic can't go wrong booking this place.

  • Very cozy historic cabin, feels like you've time traveled back decades (but still have fast wifi, ha). Larry was a great host and the place is just as advertised.

  • This is a great space to come together and spend the night and explore the surrounding area. Casual and comfortable.

    Anne-Marie2020-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was amazing and so was the hospitality from Larry. There was a book in the cabin on things to do and different restaurants in the area. We were absolutely thrilled with this cabin.

Discover Minglewood, a lovely old barn converted into a 800 square foot private getaway. Soaring ceilings with exposed beams provide a light, spacious main room. This great room design includes a cozy seating arrangement facing a classic woodstove, allowing you to enjoy a romantic open fire. The queen bed is situated to provide privacy as well as an intimate sleeping space. French doors lead out to your own deck-the perfect spot for your complimentary morning coffee and pastries. Adjacent to the great room is a kitchenette complete with refrigerator, microwave and sink. Dishes and silverware are also provided. A modern ¾ bath, heat and air conditioning complete the amenities. In addition to television, Minglewood offers you the unique experience of a home theater. Watch your favorite DVD’s in blue ray, Netflix, HBO; or connect your laptop and enjoy a slideshow of your vacation! Situated on a scenic rural lot abutting pastureland, Minglewood is less than 5 miles from the bustling shopping village of Freeport and LL Bean. Portland, with acclaimed restaurants and Old Port nightlife, is an easy 15 minute drive south. You can also enjoy the islands of Casco Bay from Winslow Memorial Park, located less than 2 miles down Staples Point Road. This lovely park boasts a tidal beach and boat launch, awesome playground, and picturesque hiking trails. The rural byways of South Freeport are popular with the biking crowd.
  • Very nice, cosy and comfortable place to stay. We particularly enjoyed the fireplace and the quiet surroundings although we didn't go out much due to the virus. Jamie and Sally have been helpful and they take really good care of their cabin which was highly appreciated: the place was neat and well equipped. We will be back.

  • Romantic, cozy, and intimate is what you’ll get here! The kind and thoughtful touches will make you feel right at home! We spent our first anniversary here, even though it doesn’t have a huge kitchen we were able to successfully cook dinner every night! We watched movies on the projector, and stayed warm by the indoor wood stove! Very clean! It smelled lovely! Fresh flowers, fruit, local coffee, breakfast pastries, and chocolate on the pillows. We’ll definitely be back!

  • I had a wonderful stay at Jamie and Sally's place! All of the positive reviews are correct: the cabin was beautiful, cozy, incredibly clean, and Jamie and Sally had thought of anything a visitor might need. I especially appreciated the well-stocked kitchen, the baked goods, and the fresh flowers. I think this place would be lovely at any time of year and a convenient base for Maine adventures. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you so much for having me!

  • Minglewood is a wonderful combination of location, amenities, and gracious hosts.

    Ron2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I had an amazing stay at Minglewood. Thoughtful touches everywhere and we felt immediately at home! The fresh baked goodies, fruit and creamer you left made our mornings effortless. The provided coffee was wonderful as well. Even on the coldest weekend in Maine this season the multiple heating sources kept us cozy throughout our stay! I'm sorry we didn't have a chance to meet Jamie and Sally but we were eyeing that firepit under the snow outside and are already thinking about a return during the summer or fall to enjoy the outdoor amenities as well! Thanks again and best to you both, Jamie and Sally!

  • We absolutely loved Minglewood! I think the pictures don’t even do it justice. It was much bigger than we thought it would be, clearly newly renovated and super clean. It was cozy because of the way they’ve decorated (and the fire place, of course!) but the high ceiling and bright windows meant it didn’t feel stuffy and it was not overly rustic. It felt private and was off the beaten path but not deep in the woods. The bed was really comfortable and the projector set up was great. They left coffee and tea as well as a light breakfast - banana bread, orange juice and yogurt! The kitchen was bigger than I thought and they’ve outfitted it with everything you’d need (a microwave, hot plate, electric kettle, crockpot etc.) but just note that there isn’t a stove or oven so don’t plan on cooking an elaborate meal. It was perfect for a weekend getaway. It really exceeded our expectations and we’ll definitely be back!
