  • We stayed at Janes lovely apartment in her wonderful grounds near her Stables. The location for us was perfect. It was Christmas Eve and the village of Stanton was amazing which could be reached within half an hours walk. It was so Christmassy in the village with a nice pub and a fish and chip shop as well as great Christmas lights. Good off road parking and a warm comfortable room, with a nice TV. What more could you want. Thanks Jane and a Happy New Year. Jan and Brain

Lovely cottage in the small village of Hinderclay in the countryside with beautiful walks on the doorstep. 15 minutes from the market town of Diss with direct rail connection to London and 30 minutes from the beautiful Georgian town of Bury St Edmunds with its Regency theatre.
At Briarways you will find a large open plan kitchen/living room with a vaulted ceiling, woodburner, WIFI and a smart TV. The kitchen area is equipped with a dishwasher, electric oven and fridge. There is one double bedroom with a king size bed and a shower room. Guests have their own outside area with a table and chairs for morning coffee. For more images follow us on Instagram @briarways.suffolk.
Hinderclay is on the Norfolk/Suffolk border so we have the best of both counties. There are lovely walks in the surrounding areas. There are two pubs a five minute drive or 45 minutes walk along country footpaths if you're feeling adventurous . Hinderclay has its own fishing lakes. The Peddars Way begins just down the road and you can also join the Angles Way. The towns of Diss, Bury St Edmunds, Cambridge and Norwich are all worth a visit, as are the beautiful Brecks, Thetford forest, Knettishall Heath, Bressingham steam museum and gardens, and the wonderful Suffolk coast with the annual Latitude festival. The village of Rickinghall is a five minute drive away and here you will find a Co op, fish and chip shop, two pubs and a Chinese takeaway. Wyken Vineyards is a 15 minute drive and has an award winning restaurant, beautiful garden, shop and weekly farmers market.,There are also print workshops run by Caroline Somerville and art workshops run by Sue Ecclestone at lilac cottage studio in the local village of Rickinghall.
  • A clean, cosy and comfortable place to stay. We had a fantastic weekend break.

    Sally2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely space with a homely feel and plentiful walks nearby!

    Eliot2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Already cannot wait to stay at Helen’s place again! Such a cosy space with lovely touches, from the fresh brownies and milk so we could have a cuppa when we arrived, to all the tips that were left for places to eat in the local area and lovely walks you could explore. The wood burner was already on when we arrived which made us feel super cosy and felt like walking in to a home. It is a space that has really been thought out well with no expense spared on the lovely decor and homely touches. The bed was very comfortable with nice linen but the highlight of our trip had to be waking up and opening the blinds to find wild rabbits playing right outside the windows. A car is a must as the location is quite remote, which is great for that country feel but still close enough to lovely towns and villages you can explore a few different places everyday which was great. We will definitely be back!

  • A gorgeous place from the outside in... has everything you need. Very comfortable and stylish with a great atmosphere. Would definitely stay again. The WiFi didn’t work 100% but Helen and Graham were there for our every need! Amazing Hinderclay guide - we packed lots of interesting things in locally - all within a 20 minute drive. Perfect for a short stay in the peace and quiet.

    Skye2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • We were so impressed with this beautiful house where we stayed on our weekend trip away from London. 10/10 for comfort, Helen’s done an amazing job to make this a place of relaxation, tranquility and happiness. Leaving the house on our daily trips away, it naturally felt like coming back to home to put on a log fire and enjoy the warmth of this accommodation.

  • A perfect spot for a few quite days without any interruptions. We had a wonderful weekend in Helens cottage, everything was great and super cosy!

  • Alison and Katy were lovely welcoming warm hosts, we felt very comfortable staying in their modern contemporary clean home, lovely modern private bathroom with shampoo, shower gel, deep bath and walk in shower adjacent to the bedroom. Lounge downstairs with TV was an added bonus which we would of used if staying longer at the property. As we arrived late, a well lit pathway to the side door was practical and safe with off road parking on driveway. The bedroom has a comfortable mattress, nice linen, alarm clock, hanging rail for clothes, desk, long wall mirror (good for doing hair), plenty of sockets and a well stocked tea tray with ground coffee cafetiere and chocolate biscuits, nice thoughtful touches which made it a little extra special. Breakfast laid out in the kitchen for us to help ourselves completed the stay with cereals, fresh fruit, toast and jams, spreads, tea and coffee. We will try and come back when it is not raining ! so we can walk around the village of North Lopham and explore more of the lovely Norfolk surroundings and countryside .....

With a private bedroom, bathroom and living room you'll have all the space you want, but the greatest part is definitely chatting with and getting to know your warm and interesting hosts.

We are close to Bury St Edmunds and an ideal semi-rural base for exploring East Anglia and the cities of Norwich and Cambridge. Our comfortable and quiet cottage annexe provides a well-equipped place to stay for a self-catering short break or longer, with wi-fi included. The comfortable sitting room looks out onto the private garden where there is a small patio containing outdoor chairs and table. The ensuite bedroom (double-bed) has a vaulted ceiling and ample storage.
An attractive conservatory is where you will find the comfortable living room, with 2-seater settee, coffee table and lamp. The TV and radio is here also. The bedroom has a high ceiling with exposed beams, and contains a free-standing wardrobe plus a large built-in cupboard which combined have plenty of space for clothing and baggage. The en-suite bathroom has a pedestal wash-basin, toilet and modern shower. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering and includes dining table and two dining chairs.
We are a short drive from the centre of Stanton village, which can be walked in about 20 minutes. In the village centre you will find a village pub, a convenience store, bakers and a post-office. On the other side of the village on the Barningham road there is an excellent farm-shop at Hillcrest Nurseries, with deli counter and cafe.
  • A delightful and secluded cottage hideaway. Ian and Debbie were delightful hosts. Communication was superb. Many thoughtful touches which Debbie provided, clearly demonstrating the qualities of a Super Host. Highly recommend.

    Allan2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We were given very clear directions to the accommodation, and information about the area, shops, local places to eat, etc. The annexe feels like a cottage, self contained, everything you need was provided, it was sparkling clean, and lovely and warm when we arrived on a wet dismal December evening. There were fresh flowers in the bedroom, and a welcome pack with locally produced fruit juices and chocolates. Also a lovely patio area outside which would be a good place for breakfast in warm weather. Thank you Debbie.

    Angela2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great space with everything you could possibly need in the annex. Quiet & peaceful area ..... we slept well every night. We had little or no service on our mobiles but that was a nice change to be uncontactable ! But if you rely on yours you may want to check with Ian & Debbie which service providers are better.

    Debra2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Debbie and Ian were absolutely lovely and so was the place! The space was really well used and the garden setting was gorgeous. Amenities were great too! We had more than enough kitchen supplies and the internet was decent enough to watch Netflix too. If we were really being picky then the lack of soap in the shower or the jittery TV was unexpected but we never addressed this so it's unfair to hold that out on its own. It was a mobile phone black spot too so I found that amazing as I got to switch off from the world when I wanted. Absolutely recommend this spot and most certainly aim to come back soon

    Ehab2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • A comfortable and clean cottage annex, that is quiet and peaceful and surrounded by nice countryside. I would happily stay here again.

    Erik2019-09-12T00:00:00Z

  • The standard of this accommodation is exceptional and it’s by far the best Airbnb we’ve stayed at. Immaculately clean, modern and a lovely place to stay. Comfy beds, good quality bed linen and towels. Thoughtful touches such as cake and fresh flowers on arrival. Fully equipped kitchen and basics such as bread, milk, eggs, cereals, coffee and tea left for us which were much appreciated. We enjoyed having the wood burning stove on in the evenings and loved the light airy space. Lovely view and rural location - nice for walks. Will be recommending to friends and would love to stay again if in the area. Thank you Caroline for your hospitality x

    Rebecca2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • wow, wow, wow, wow this home is the best we have ever stayed in , Its super clean and super modern but feels so cosy . I must admit we dont normally book places that allow dog but based on the reviews I was prepared to take the risk, There was no evidence of this being a dog free zone Thankfully . We have nothing against dogs I may add . The space is out of this world ,The furnishings are of high quality and make the house a home .We stayed for only two nights but we have already booked a week in the summer .The outside space goes on and on the private back decking area is also a space we are looking forward to on our next visit, The beds and the bedding are of high quality as are the en suite bathrooms . Very kind welcome cake and basic supplies in the fridge ,eggs ,bread ,butter and milk .The log burner was a cosy extra to go home to after exploring Suffolk .We had two great meals out you do need a car to get to locations . You will be mad not to book this home . Caroline is a lovely warm welcoming lady , BOOK IT ,BOOK IT .

  • Great accommodation, Caroline was a great host. The place was spotless with everything we needed. We come back in the winter or summer. Fully recommended. 5 stars

    Paul2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • This was the most amazing place to stay - if we could give Caroline more than 5 stars then we would! Everything that we needed was there for us with lots of little touches that make a stay just that little bit more special; a beautiful Christmas tree, fresh chocolate cake and even a bottle of bubbly to see in the New Year! The barn was beyond better than the photographs and was immaculate and clean; beautiful bed linen and comfortable beds. The kitchen had all that we needed and was again sparkly clean. We were very sad to leave this place and would highly recommend it to anyone. Thank you Caroline!!

We were featured on BBC1 programme "I Escaped To The Country" in January 2018.
If there are more than 2 people in your party please ask if we can accommodate them as we have additional rooms available, subject to specific arrangements and an additional charge. Whilst we offer a private living area to guests if required, and we respect your space, we really like meeting new people and we are gregarious, so you are quite likely to be invited into our own living areas.
Stanton is a well served village with a Pub ("The Cock" which is open, and serving food all but Mondays), a corner shop, Post Office, fish & chip shop and bakers just a couple of minutes walk away. A short distance away is the Hillcrest Garden Centre with coffee shop and farm / delicatessen foods for sale. Plus a mile down the road you will find Wyken Vinyard. It has a lovely country shop and the Leaping Hare restaurant is reputedly one of the best in East Anglia.
  • Had a great stay with Mick & Sue, lovely people, lovely house & grounds & amazing breakfast!! We had the best time with them & will definitely visit again in the future!!

    Charlotte2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Mick and Sue are great hosts. We really enjoyed staying with them. The room is lovely, bright and very comfortable. Breakfast was a great - try the homemade jam - with a beautiful outlook. They clearly enjoy hosting and if you have the time, spend some time talking to them about their home and extraordinary lives - they have some great stories. The flag is a great touch, and adds to the warm welcome.

  • A great place to stay, hosts were easy to communicate with and everything was clean, tidy and very comfortable. Would stay again!

  • We enjoyed a wonderful stay with Michael and Sue in their beautiful home and grounds. They made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble . The room was spacious and clean with a very comfortable bed . On a Saturday night , Sue very kindly drove us to a local restaurant and arranged a taxi firm for our return journey . We had a lovely breakfast the next morning with a view across the grounds and paddocks . Overall we had a really relaxing and peaceful stay with a extremely hospitable couple . Many thanks to you both. Ean and Maria

  • A second visit and again absolutely loved it all. The room is just so comfortable and clean with stunning views. The hosts are both quite simply wonderful and a joy to chat to. Great value and recommended as a base for exploring Suffolk for s few days. We had two dogs with us who loved it all.

    Dawn2019-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovey setting, beautiful gardens, paddocks and 'oh so peaceful'- just perfect. Sue was so hospitable (Michael wasn't there) and nothing was too much trouble.

    Nadine2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Mick and Sue were the perfect hosts, communication was excellent and they were extremely accommodating (even allowed our black lab dog Walter to stay also). Was lovely to meet Ben the whippet too :) breakfast was simple but tasty, especially the homemade jams. Wish we had time to stay longer to explore the area.

    Christina2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Without doubt THE best AirBnB experience made so by the hospitality of Mick and Sue, I will be returning at earliest opportunity.

Enjoy a relaxing break away in our lovingly restored holiday cottage. Stable End is a converted barn set on a 30 acre arable farm, situated on the edge of the attractive village of Walsham-le-Willows and in the curtilage of a 17th Century Suffolk thatched farmhouse. Our holiday cottage is conveniently placed to explore the delights of the Suffolk, Norfolk & Essex countryside with excellent country walks direct from the property. It's also a perfect base to visit many of Suffolk's attractions.
A warm welcome is assured all year round with under-floor heating and a wood burning stove in the vaulted sitting room. Add to that chocolates, wine, seasonal flowers and freshly laid eggs on arrival and the scene is set for a lovely, relaxing holiday away, in a truly home from home. Re-launched in August 2016, Stable End has been converted into a holiday cottage providing all modern facilities whilst maintaining a wealth of exposed beams. Always previously commended year on year with a gold award for achieving excellent feedback and scored 100% for 'Accommodation Overall'. Kitchen includes washing machine, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, double oven, microwave, slo-cooker, cafetiere and, most importantly, a corkscrew for the relaxing evenings in the paddock or by the pond. First basket of fuel for stove is included plus we hold a large stock of reasonably priced aged wood. Freshly laid bed linen and towels are included. For entertainment, we have a selection of books, games and DVDs with Wi-Fi available in the bedrooms. Picnic basket, blankets, plastic crocks, cool bags, ice blocks and flask are available during your stay to set you off on your suffolk adventures. Disposable BBQ and portable stand can be found in the shed together with cushions and parasols.
It is a perfect base to visit many of Suffolk's attractions, we have plentiful supply of tourist and all local information to hand. Julie and Ant are fountains of knowledge for the local Suffolk and Norfolk countryside and can give you some insights into the 'secret' walks and beautiful countryside locations that you may not have heard of. Walsham-Le-Willows also has a renowned butchers, Rolfe's of Walsham, where you can treat yourself to some of the best ingredients for your cooked breakfast or meat for the BBQ. A quaint coffee house with freshly baked cakes everyday, a couple of country pubs for your local beer and fine dining. All this before you even set-foot outside of this tiny, quaint and serene village!
  • We stayed at Stable End for a month whilst awaiting to move into a house near by. A great space in the Suffolk countryside. Spotlessly clean and plenty of amenities for a really comfortable stay. Lots of local information provided, along with fresh eggs every few days! Underfloor heating was perfect as we sheltered from stormy winter weather. Julie and Anthony were brilliant hosts, giving you space but always on hand when needed. Only wish we could have stayed longer! (Was fully booked) I can see why others come back to Stable End year after year!

    Alex2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Stable end is a good spot for visiting Norfolk and Suffolk. The house is cosy and has everything you will need. Julie the host is very welcoming and she left us chocolates, wine and fresh eggs.

    Veronica2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • A magical place to stay for our family of four including our three and five-year old. We loved the ducks, geese, and woods out the back. And it was a brilliant jump-off point for places to visit around Suffolk. Highly recommended.

    Tom2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fabulous stay at Stable End - stunning location and really lovely grounds, the kids loved seeing the chickens and ducks and we had fun playing in the paddock area too. A lovely little place for a relaxing holiday. Lauren and family

    Lauren2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • We booked this cottage when we had family come over a couple of weeks ago. The cottage and the surroundings were lovely. Julie had stocked the place with essentials plus extras which we really appreciated. The cottage is also stocked with games and dvds which kept the kids entertained when they weren't chasing the ducks and grouse outside. Couldn't have hoped for a better place. Thanks.

The wood cabin is situated in a beautiful meadowland. There is an outside patio area with table & chairs, a sofa & firepit/bbq. The interior of the cabin is lovingly handmade. It has a comfy double bed, a sofa and a wood burning stove to keep you cosy during the evening. There's a basic kitchen, small oven, hob, kettle, toaster. Cold running water & electricty. The bathroom has a toilet and sink. Instagram: life_at_walnut_tree_farm
In 1970 Roger Deakin acquired Walnut Tree Farm, a semi-ruined Elizabethan farmhouse deep in the countryside of northern Suffolk, on the edge of Mellis Green, the largest area of common grazing land in England. Deakin bought the farm and lovingly restored it, dredging the moat (in which he swam daily), planting woods and buying more of the surrounding fields, where he grew hay and wild flowers. Walnut Tree Farm became a place of pilgrimage and inspiration for nature-lovers, writers, intellectuals and artists, while Deakin's Waterlog has become a much-loved classic of nature writing and gave impetus to the wild swimming movement.
Mellis Common is a place of natural beauty. There are great walks on the farms doorstep. Thornham woods takes about 30 minutes to walk to. There is a tea room and pub in thornham as well as a pub in Mellis. Eye is a ten minute drive away and is host to a range of shops and a few takeaways.
  • The perfect place to escape city life and reconnect with nature. The cabin was cosy and eclectic, and so peaceful set in a field surrounded by trees and animals. We even braved a dip in the moat - freezing but invigorating! Would highly recommend

    Rose2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, cosy and thoughtfully designed cabin with views across the fields. We saw pheasant, deer and rabbits from the comfort of the sofa. Close to some great country walks. Jasmin was really helpful and accommodating. Highly recommend.

    Caroline2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cabin in a beautiful area. The wood burner kept us nice and toasty even in winter. The grounds are lovely and full of wildlife - we even saw a couple of deer! Great spot for walking and to escape for a few days.

    Elise2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • I booked very last minute but Jasmin was happy to accommodate. Easy to find with instructions and the extra touches to the place were fantastic. I stayed early January and although the temp dropped to low single figures overnight, the log burner and heater kept us warm and comfortable overnight. The water was 4.6 degrees so I opted against a dip but will back for that.

    Michelle2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was beautiful and cosy perfect for a little escape in nature. Both Jasmine and Titus were really helpful and welcoming. It was just what we were looking for.

    Alice2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for such a lovely stay, what a beautiful setting to see the in new year, just what we needed to recharge ready for 2020! The wood cabin was so cosy and quirky and we hope to be back in the warmer weather for a dip in the moat!

    Ella2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely cabin in a beautiful rural setting. Lovely walks nearby and Jasmin was a super host. We will be back to enjoy a swim in the moat when it’s a bit warmer!

From this restful hideaway one can explore the many local footpaths and lanes on foot or visit nearby attractions by car or bicycle. This is a landscape of windmills, churches and nature reserves, with steam attractions, sports' venues and a wealth of local shops, pubs and eateries easily accessible.

As well as a well-appointed kitchen area, there is a separate utility area with washing machine and dish washer. • Jasmine and Titus were such warm and welcoming hosts, ensuring our time spent with them was a delight from start to finish. They generously allow their guests to share in the rich history of their home, and have gone to great lengths to make the carriage incredibly cosy, while retaining the rustic charm and DIY attitude associated with Walnut Tree Farm.  A swim in the moat is an absolute must and the magical sense of place here is undeniable. Lovely walks on the doorstop exploring Mellis Common and down the old Medieval road Cow pasture Lane. Our stay was in February and we made great use of the log burning stove and array of blankets provided. A perfect place to hide out in winter but can easily see how spring and summer brings a whole other beauty that we can't wait to return and experience.  We recommend the Kings Head (Low House) in nearby Laxfield for a proper pub grub and pints straight from the cask to be enjoyed sat by the old inglenook fire. Another short drive away is Wyken Vineyards who put on a fantastic farmer’s market on a Saturday and have a great little bookshop.  Also in nearby Diss is Gaze Auction Rooms, the perfect place to hunt down those elusive antique finds!  Many many thanks again to Jasmin and Titus for making our trip so memorable. It will have a lasting effect on us and we cannot wait to return again.

  • Jasmin was an amazing host, very quick to respond and super friendly and kind. She looked after us and all our needs. The carriage is so special and unique. So cosy and so romantic. There's a great cooking area with all the utensils you could wish for. Would recommend very highly

  • Beautiful, cosy cabin. Wild bit of countryside. Energising early morning swims! Candle-lit evening reading by the fire. Super friendly hosts! All good!!!

  • A huge thank you to Jasmin, Titus and Hercules for sharing their wonderful home. Incredible tribute to Roger and Jasmin and Titus in looking after Walnut Tree Farm and the Wagon with such love and consideration. Felt very special to be reading Roger's beautiful reflections on sleeping outside and the Wagon in Wildwood by candlelight the evening before and jumping into the moat to come back to re-read first pages of Waterlog over warm coffee. So much beauty, nature and joy within and surounding the wagon, was the perfect place to slow down. Could not imagine kinder hosts or a better balance of comfort and adventure. Can't wait to return one day!

    Claire2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely friendly welcome from Jasmin and Titus. A beautiful peaceful setting, the railway carriage was cosy, homely and the wood burner kept us lovely and warm. Cooking and washing facilities were ideal and had everything we needed, shower was piping hot at all times. Lovely walk along a track just next door. The beautiful moat was the icing on the cake for us, which we used every day. Our dog Fletcher loved meeting the friendly Herc too. We will definitely be back!

Green Farm Cottage is located at the end of a quiet wooded lane in Redgrave, Suffolk. Beyond the cottage are wide open fields and a clear view to Hinderclay. The cottage has plenty of room for a large family sleeping a maximum of 8 people. There is a newly refurbished fireplace in the oldest 16th century part of the cottage to keep you warm, and the entire house was renovated and decorated in early 2018. Situated 15 minutes from Diss and 30 minutes from Bury St Edmunds. We love it.
This 16th Century cottage has been lovingly renovated and redecorated by the family who own it, with a brand new roof and insulation, central heating and plumbing to bring this ancient retreat back to life. Three bedrooms are on the first floor along with a family sized bathroom with stunning views across the Suffolk landscape. A south facing garden captures the sun and offers epic sunsets. The cottage is a quiet retreat but with great access to the local villages and towns of Diss and Bury St Edmunds. It is also only 45 minutes to the coast. Local attractions include Wyken Vineyard, The English Whisky Distillery, Bressingham Steam Museum and Gardens, Banham Zoo and Southwold, Thorpeness & Aldeburgh. The area is popular for country walking, horse riding, bird watching on the Fens, cycling, and some great local pubs and restaurants.
  • This is our second time staying and it was just as good as we remembered. The house was spotless with fresh flowers on the table. The house is great for a family stay with helpful extras if you forget yours or don't have room in the car such as travel cot and highchair etc. The local pub is lovely and although you need your car for most places, the nearby fields are perfect for dog walking too. Adam and Sophie are great hosts with A* communication. Hope to return again!

  • We loved our stay at the cottage. We came for 5 days over half term - me, my husband, my sister and her husband and their 2 kids and my mum. It was very comfortable and peaceful with just the right amount of space to not be on top of one another. Sophie recommended the local walk from the cottage to Hinderclay across open fields, which we did and loved. Other attractions we enjoyed were all about 40 mins to an hour away: Ickworth House, RSPB Minsmere/the coast and Framlingham. We are keen tennis players and were looking forward to playing. Sophie had said there were 2 public tennis courts 5 mins away. However, disappointingly, we couldn't use either of these as one was a tennis club that was locked up with no one around and the other had no nets and is out of use over winter. However, the cricket set at the cottage and many games, toys and DVDs in the fun cupboard made up for this. We mainly cooked at home and then sat by the cosy wood burner chatting, watching films and playing games. We ate at the nearby Bell's Inn one night. Another night was Halloween so we went trick or treating locally. Overall the trip was a huge success and the cottage the perfect base for our family stay. Thanks Adam and Sophie!

  • Lovely stay at a beautiful cottage

    Emma Jane2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed every minute of our stay here under the big Suffolk skies and it lived up to all our expectations. The house was beautiful and had everything we needed. There was plenty of room for 3 generations of our family. One of the bedrooms is downstairs which was perfect for my mum.. If you want some peace and tranquility then this is the just the place. Not only are the views amazing but a very short walk from the house is a public footpath which leads through farm land and wheat fields where we walked and star gazed and watched shooting stars at night. The beaches of Southwold and Lowestoft and Cromer were all within easy drives. Plus a local pub within walking distance and a CoOp which was a 5 min drive away. Sophie was also brilliant and responded and sorted out a couple of niggles within a day. Thank you for a great stay!

  • We had a lovely stay at Green Farm Cottage with our dogs in June. The cottage is in a really lovely location in Redgrave and is a must for all dog walkers. Literally right on the doorstep of the cottage is a lovely walk through the valley towards Hinderclay. The cottage itself was really nice and had everything you expect and need. The renovations that have been done on the cottage are quite remarkable so well done Sophie and Adam. The local pubs and restaurants are nice and friendly and a must is the White Hart in Roydon and also Mick the Baker / Star Wing Brewery (same location) and Wyken Vineyards. Sophie was a great host and answered all our queries in a timely manner. I cannot recommend this cottage enough and thoroughly look forward to booking our next trip there again soon.

  • The house is lovely and in a fabulous location surrounded by lots of walks, wonderful pubs that serve amazing food and a fabulous baker at Starwing brewery that also has great beer! We had a lovely week here despite the never ending rain! We used Green Cottage as a base to explore the area. Trips to Cromer for the fabulous seafood, Lowestoft for the lovely beach and Aldeburgh for the quaintness! If you like really great pub food then the Four Horseshoes Inn at Eye is well worth the trip, not only is the food fabulous but the place is amazing. The house has everything you need for a week of relaxing, walking and eating!! Thank you Sophie and Adam for letting us stay in your lovely holiday home. Would come back in a heartbeat!!

  • Sophie was an excellent host. She was very communicative and helpful, with some great tips for things to do around the area. Instructions for our stay (getting to cottage, check in, facilities inside cottage) were very clear. The cottage was lovely, clean, cosy and welcoming. We had a fabulous stay! Thank you Sophie and Adam.

  • What a lovely cottage! Great place for a nice relaxing break, next to a beautiful lake, filled with fun games (golf, pool table, etc.), bbq, and a fire place inside, what's not to like. Jean and her partner were both really nice and gave us a warm welcome with freshly picked eggs and home baked bread. Hope to come back again!

  • This place was a real find, we stayed here for 3 nights before going onto centre Parcs in Elveden which is a short drive away. Lovely accommodation and the land was amazing, our kids had a great time, really enjoyed playing darts and table tennis. No negatives at all and great value for all the space you get.

  • Place was an amazing get away....bit disappointed i only booked the one day, would love to have spent more time here

    Lewis2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • We received a very warm welcome and a gift of delicious home made bread and new laid eggs from Jean. There is a beautiful view of the lake and grounds from the lounge so we could enjoy watching the birds on the bird feeders and the ducks, moorhens, coots, chickens, and guinea fowl wandering about. The lake allowed my 8 year old grandson to experience fishing for the first time; playing pitch and putt was hilarious. There are plenty of sun loungers so we took the opportunity to relax in the peace and quiet. Lake View is ideally situated for visiting Diss, Eye and other local attractions without too much driving, although the roads were very quiet so driving wouldn't be so stressful. We all wished we were staying longer.

  • A delightful place to stay, centrally located in east anglia and in the midst of lovely countryside. Rhubarb cottage is a stylish, immaculate and superbly equipped "home from home". Brigitte is a charming and thoughtful host. Very highly recommended.

  • wonderful place to stay, very comfortable and Brigitte added some lovely welcome extras, the homemade Italian amaretti cookies were delicious.

  • Very tastefully designing relaxing space. Everything you could need, but simple and uncluttered. Everything is good quality, and has been done with thoughtfulness. The bed is very comfortable, and Brigitte even leaves milk jam and croissants for your breakfast. A lovely stay.

  • The place is beautifully decorated, incredibly clean and fully equipped with anything (including high-end gadgets) one would need for a pleasant stay. Brigitte was responsive and an excellent host. Not only did she provide us with croissants and granola for breakfast but also homemade amaretti biscuits. A lovely thoughtful touch not to mention very tasty! The place was situated close to nature reserves and we managed to see a barn owl which was definitely a highlight. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.

Our 2 storey Postmill Annexe is full of charm and character. It has an abundance of original beams and exposed bricks and a wood burner for chilly evenings. Within walking distance of amenities, (tea shop, butchers, pubs, church), and with miles of lovely footpaths from the doorstep.
Our two storey open plan annexe is the restored base of the village windmill. It is across the drive from our house, situated in a quiet cul-de-sac of 4 other houses. We have a meadow with a picnic table and an orchard, which guests are welcome to enjoy during their stay. Walsham-le-Willows is a beautiful village, with a tea shop, two pubs and an award winning butchers at its centre. We are a short drive, (or an hours cross country walk), from Wyken Hall with its beautiful gardens, lovely cafe and restaurant, and Saturday farmers market. There are other great walks to be had from our doorstep, and excellent cycling, suitable for all abilities, with only gentle rolling East Anglian hills.
Walsham-le-Willows is a picturesque Suffolk village, situated 15miles from Bury St Edmunds. We are a 12 minute drive from Elmswell, where there is an hourly train link to Cambridge and Ipswich.
  • The roundhouse is a beautiful place - cosy and welcoming, but remarkably spacious, and with so much character. Walsham is a great spot from which to explore the wider area, but we also wanted to have lots of time enjoying the roundhouse itself! Donna provided an excellent welcome and plenty of information, ensuring we had everything we needed for a great break. We’d thoroughly recommend a stay at the Roundhouse.

  • Fabulous stay in a truly unique setting. Cosy, quaint, 5*. Lovely personalised touches from Donna including a book on local attractions, food options etc. Lovely log burner and breakfast items provided. Contactable and approachable without being on top of her guests.

  • Fabulous location, amazing accommodation, finishing touches were perfect - altogether a beautiful place to stay

    Nadine2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • On our way back from Donna's lovely old windmill in Walsham-le-Willows, The Roundhouse is a very pleasant rustic place in a peaceful area in the wilds of Norfolk. Honestly, once you've shut yourself in you can barely hear a thing, bar the infrequent crunch of the residents on gravel, even the church bells are barely a tinkle. If rustic and homely is your thing, you're in for a treat. Though a large and open space, heating options in the winter are plentiful and efficient and the facilities tick all the boxes. There is no kitchen as such, rather a breakfast bar arrangement but plenty of space if you brought in dinner with you. Bed & bathroom are unique, comfortable and useable, be mindful of the macerator toilet and follow the rules 😉 and you'll not go wrong. Shower is hot, basin is huge and there's a futon in the bedroom too. Wood burner downstairs is a delight, though we obviously need practice 🙄 and the split barn door is a lovely touch - in the summer it would let in lots of warmth whilst maintaining privacy. We'll be back to explore this possibility along with the local walks and surrounding area.

  • It was a great weekend, I couldn’t fault the whole experience.

  • A home from Home experience, jam packed with amenities xx

  • Donna was an excellent host who made sure that we had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. The Round House is a charming and unique property and I will certainly come back to stay when I’m next in the area.

Truly modern dwellings in our traditional Suffolk countryside. Relax in the new hot tub on the south-facing sun-deck while enjoying the privacy of your own secluded garden. Roll back the bi-fold doors as you lounge inside the shade of the lodge having discovered the local villages and country lanes. We only have four of these hand-built lodges within the grounds of our country home, and they are special buildings for our special guests, many of whom return, for a memorable stay. 3 nights min.
Your own place to chill in the heart of East Anglia, close to the attractive town of Bury St Edmunds. Designed by us to give our guests everything they need for a relaxing break, Oak Lodge at Upthorpe Lodges is one of four in a countryside location in its own private garden. We are in one of the UK's driest areas, and the sun deck has a gas bbq, sunloungers and dining table. If you really want to let the outside in, just roll back the bi-fold doors and enjoy! Note: This lodge now has a hot tub! Contemporary and funky, rural and peaceful, our lodge lets the sun pour in whilst the underfloor heating ensures comfort throughout the year. The kitchen is well equipped, including a dishwasher, full-size oven, and washing machine. Enjoy the large shower, the bedroom TV, and wake up overlooking the garden through the glazed bedroom doors. There is a Smart TV in the living room with Netflix included. The paved path from the car-park ensures same level entrance and exit from car to entrance door. Keys are kept in a coded locker to allow anytime arrival (after 4pm) and departure (before 10am). The car-park is off-road and is well lit for arrivals after dark. We prefer to allow guests complete independence whilst they enjoy our lodge, but we are always available if required, by text, phone or email. We live very close by in the neighbouring property. Why choose our location? Well it's bang in the middle of East Anglia, which we think is great for its wide landscapes, wild coasts and rural countryside. We could also mention the great little market towns nearby and the increasingly popular larger town of Bury St Edmunds. An hour's drive can take you to the small but fascinating and lively cities of Cambridge and Norwich, or Constable Country, the 'wool towns' or the coast. Getting here by public transport can be a bit tricky, but it can be done and we'll be happy to advise. Alternatively, bring your car, park it up, and explore on foot or borrow our two bikes! There's an extensive network of public footpaths and bridleways on our doorstep. There are many popular places to visit nearby; Banham Zoo, Wyken Vineyards, Go Ape, Thetford Forest, Cambridge, Norwich, and the Suffolk Heritage Coast to name just a few. Our page links to several local places, restaurants and attractions which can be enjoyed. We also have three other lodges, all with Hot tubs included in the price too - just enquire if interested.
We are set at the edge of a village, in Suffolk countryside with many lanes and footpaths on our doorstep. One of Suffolk's most highly rated restaurants (and cafe) The Leaping Hare, can be walked to on footpaths - a rewarding country walk! Cyclists have a number of country lane routes to choose from. However, shops and village life isn't far away with a village store less than a mile and a farm shop the other side of Stanton.
  • What an amazing place, the location is perfect and so so peaceful! It’s great if you want adventure followed by s relaxing evening in the hot tub! The accomadation was so clean and tidy with so much space and mini touches that made it extra special! We will definitely be returning! Thank you so much xxx

  • The oak lodge is an ideal quiet getaway with plenty of things to do within a short drive or walk. The lodge has everything you need whether its for a short weekend break or longer holiday and the hot tub is a bonus. I would definitely visit again.

  • Quiet, cosy and clean. Hot tub and private garden area are amazing, not overlooked at all. 25 mins to Bury St Ed’s and an hour to Cambridge and Norwich for days out. Kitchen had everything we needed and was very spacious. Highly recommend a stay here, exactly what we were looking for!

    Charlie2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • A little slice of paradise! The garden is beautiful- we really appreciated how much work must go into the outdoor space to keep it looking lovely. The lodge was sparkling clean- decor is simple and homely. We had everything we needed and really appreciated the little touches (local food/ drink, milk in the fridge, robes provided). The hot tub was blissful. A notebook is left out to encourage guests to recommend places to visit (a really nice touch), so we got plenty of ideas from there! We cannot recommend Oak Lodge enough- we can't wait to return.

    Bethany2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • A nice, neat and excellent place to stay. The hot tub is amazing as well as access to a barbecue which was lovely. Would recommend!

  • Oak lodge is a beautiful lodge. It is decorated beautifully with the addition of lovely touches such as fairy lights and flowers. The lodge is very private, meaning you can enjoy the use of the hot tub in peace. The hot tub was fantastic with a lovely view of the garden to admire also. Ian and Debbie are fantastic hosts, they communicate extremely well with out hassling you. It's nice to know they are nearby should you need any help. I can't recommend Upthorpe Lodges in general enough, it's the ultimate escape from reality, ever so relaxing and refreshing. My partner and I look forward to booking at one of there lodges in the future, and will most definitely be recommending to our friends and family. Thank you.

  • What a perfect little spot for a couples weekend away! My partner and I spent out Anniversary weekend here, and it really was beautiful! So peaceful, the outside area is so cosy, and the little birds that come to visit whilst your laying there in the sun shine just tops it off! The lodge was clean to a high standard, and everything that you could need in a kitchen is there! Down to tea coffee and sugar! The lodge itself is super cosy of an evening when you want to stick a movie on just after dinner, before you jump into the hot tub and watch the stars! Truly beautiful! I would definatley recommend this to any couple wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of life! I can say that we will definatley be back for sure! Thanks again Ian!
