Instagram: @turkeyhillcabin It's not an ice cream brand or famous first home, it's Turkey Hill. A cozy abode tucked behind trees among a mountain landscape. Write your next novel, or letters home, on your private patio. Venture to downtown Lexington (20 minutes) for dinner or let seasonal soup simmer in the crockpot. Explore hiking trails within minutes of the property or test the waters of the Maury River (1 mile away). Take advantage of clear winding roads perfect for cycling or long walks.
Our cypress log home was built in 2006 and sits among the trees. Your space on the ground level (our walkout basement) comes with a private entrance, bathroom, kitchenette, dining area, and sleeping area. The living area is configured for optimal relaxation with Amazon Fire streaming device, DVD player, and comfy seating. Prepare a meal or a cup of coffee with a 4.5 cubic foot fridge with separate freezer, hot plate, toaster oven, slow cooker, coffee maker, french press and all the tools you need. Let the sun wake you up with light filtering through privacy sheers or close the velvet light blocking curtains for extra rest.
Our community is rural and as such, passing cars can be few and far between. Our property is just over 3 acres and we take advantage of local gravel roads for hikes as well as paved roads for cycling. Take a walk to the pedestrian bridge over the Maury River and visit our post office, or stay in and enjoy the peaceful tranquility of the mountains.
• Had such a great time here! The place is clean and comfortable, the area is quiet, and the Valentines decorations were a sweet touch. Martha was on top of the communication, I think she got back to me within 10 minutes a most. I recommend this place to anyone who needs a relaxing getaway.

• This a great location to visit Lexington. Everything is in walking distance from this place. Host is very welcoming and extremely accommodating. Everything was very clean and the breakfast foods and cookies she provided were terrific.

Anna2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
• This space is clean and convenient to all of downtown Lexington. It will only be better when the side door entrance becomes available to use. The kitchenette and breakfast food were an added plus.

Come back home to Grandma's country farm house. Quiet and relaxing. We are located 2 miles from House Mountain Inn and 6 miles from beautiful Lake Robertson, with a public pool, and miles of hiking. 15 miles from Historic Lexington, home of VMI and W&L University and one of the last functioning drive in theaters (Hull's Drive In). It's a quick hop down 81 to Natural Bridge State Park.
• This is the best airbnb I have stayed at so far! They are extremely thoughtful of their guests. The food that they provided us was so sweet of them. They have great communication with guests. The explanation/directions of how to get to the house were spot on!

Katelynn2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
• This place is great. There is a stream in the front which is so relaxing to sit and listen to. You do not have good Cell phone connection, but there is a house phone available.

Robin2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
• Grandma’s Country House was everything we needed for a weekend away. It’s location is superb for anyone visiting The House Mountain Inn or Irvine Estate. The house is quaint, clean, and full of thoughtful extras like bottled water, muffins, extra comfy blankets, and extra toiletries. Margaret was beyond a fantastic host! Great at communicating all the details and any issues, as well as going out of her way to get a menu for a local breakfast spot. Even went the extra mile to leave flowers and a Happy Birthday balloon for our visit! We would absolutely stay again if in the area.

Paige2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
• We enjoyed a simple and relaxing night here as we were passing through and needed a place to spend the night. Everything was as described and we appreciated thoughtful touches like coloring books for the kids and water and some snacks and treats.

Jeremy2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
• Cosy cottage in the forest. We slept well in soft and clean beds. Shower was a bit tricky but Margaret came and helped very quickly. We liked how clutterfree the place was and how the colors went well together.

Erika2019-12-04T00:00:00Z
• Margaret's place was everything I could've asked for and more. Immaculately clean and a wonderful value. Highly recommended.

Alexander2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
• Really cozy house. Perfect for a family getaway

Hendrik2019-11-24T00:00:00Z

Quiet and private barn apartment located less than 10 miles from Lexington, Virginia.
• Very nice stay

Sean2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
• Craig’s place is clean, fully updated, and less than 15 minutes from downtown Lexington. Very private and easy to find (if you’re showing up after dark, let Craig know so he can turn on the porch light!). The host had a great suggestion to head down to the Chessie Nature Trail, so we spent a couple of hours exploring and enjoying our time by the river, even on a brisk February day. Lexington has a lot to offer for a small town, don’t miss out on the VMI Museum or the Chessie Nature Trail, and definitely check out some of the local restaurants! I have celiac disease and I’m gluten free - many restaurants had plenty of options for me, which can be a struggle sometimes in the South and in rural areas. Not here! We loved every second of our stay.

Alexa2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
• Beautiful spot in a convenient location. Craig was very helpful with local recommendations and quick responses. Check in was smooth and the place had very thoughtful touches. Very comfortable- felt like home!

Kelly2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
• Craig was quick to respond and very local recommendations! We had dinner at the brewery about ten minutes away and it has awesome views. The barn was clean, quiet, and cozy. All of the amenities were great and check in/out was very easy! We had a great stay at the barn!

Christine2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
• The space was great! A fantastic weekend getaway.

Elizabeth2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
• What a great stay! Beautiful place

Cliff2019-11-23T00:00:00Z
• Craig's place at the barn was exactly what we were looking for--private, peaceful, and full of perfect touches that made it home, but close to all the restaurants, shops, and locations that Lexington has to offer. We were just minutes away from everything we wanted to do during our stay, but Craig's little home-away-from-home was so well-appointed, accessible, and peaceful that we found ourselves staying in more than we had planned. It was exactly what we were looking for, and we both recommend it and will look to utilize it again in the future!

Tony2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
• Our stay at the barn apartment was so relaxing. What a great stay for a romantic weekend getaway. We were close to everything we needed/wanted, and felt so cozy in the space.

This old southern plantation home is nestled at the base of the mountains west of Lexington. Only a 15 minute drive in to the town of Lexington. Built in the 1860's, it is brimming with character and country charm. Drink your morning coffee or watch the sunset from the porch swing.
We are back in a quiet lane. It really feels like you're taking a trip to a cabin for the weekend with all the trees and nature. We love how quiet the evenings are, the birds and frogs being the background noise, and the fireflies lighting up the evening in the summer. We often see deer out in the field in the evening, and love to sit and watch them from the porch.
• Travis & Alyssa's place is cozy and wonderful. They really go above and beyond to make one feel welcome to their gorgeous property!

Mark2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
• The room is even homier than pictured! There were personal touches throughout the room which made it such a relaxing getaway. The space was very clean and the hosts went above and beyond to prepare the space for us and communicate their plans.

Daniela2020-01-03T00:00:00Z

• We loved our stay— such a beautiful place!

Elizabeth2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
• Travis & Alyssa were wonderful hosts!! Their house is beautiful & the guest space was perfect. Very comfy bed, decorated like it was straight out of an HGTV show, very peaceful yard. Loved sitting on the porch in a bathrobe, eating granola & drinking coffee- all of which were set up for us when we arrived. They gave great tips for downtown Lexington, which was a very easy 15 min drive. We can’t wait to come back!! Wonderful experience.

• Kathy was an amazing host. We were there for a wedding and it couldn't have been more perfect.

Gavin2017-12-17T00:00:00Z
• This place was perfect. The snowy mountain scenery was dreamlike and we were greeted with hot mulled wine at check-in. Host was very attentive to any traveler’s needs. We attended a wedding at House Mountain Inn which was an easy 5 min drive. Breakfast was amazing by the fireside and our special diets were accommodated for. There was a multitude of birdwatching to be done-wish we could have stayed longer! Thanks!

Lucy2017-12-10T00:00:00Z
• A friend and I stayed here for a wedding at House Mountain. Kathy couldn't have been more hospitable. The area around her home is beautiful, with scenic highways, fireflies and trails. She was incredibly generous with her space and we felt very welcome. We had to leave on the early side to drive back to DC (our flights were out of Dulles and Reagan), and she got up with us to make us coffee and packed Thai tea for the road. It was a treat to stay with her and we'd love to come back ^-^.

Olivia2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
• What a great quiet place in the mountains to watch all the different kinds of birds at the hostess's bird feeders! She is a great hostess and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with her. The bedroom is small with a full sized bed but we were not in the bedroom much. She had all the extra toiletries one could think of-even slippers and a robe to use:)Would go back again.

This wonderful apartment is located behind my former law office in a separate building in a grassy yard with woods on two sides. It is less than a mile from the VMI campus and downtown and within walking distance of the YMCA and Roots restaurant. Applebees and Ruby Tuesday are nearby. It is just 2 miles to the Virginia Horse Center. It has a fully equipped kitchen, and I keep it stocked with coffee and various teas.
You have everything you need for a comfortable week or weekend. It has a fully stocked kitchen with mixer, pots and pans, dishes, coffee, and tea.
This is a unique property, located in a commercial neighborhood but at the rear of the lot where it is surrounded by trees and wooded land. It is just 75 yards from Country Inn and Suites where the minimum per-night cost is over $200, and this apartment is larger and has more amenities. This is next to the BB&T Bank and across the road from a shopping center. Walmart is only 1 mile away, on North Lee Highway.

• We had a short two night getaway to Bill and Joe’s property and it could not have exceeded our expectations more. The house is secluded and quiet and has beautiful views of the area. Plenty of peaceful nature getaways within a short drive. Lexington was a nice area for a few meals out and let us stock up on anything we needed to shut ourselves away. Bill made us two fantastic breakfasts and both of the boys were full of fun stories and aupwr helpful advice. Cannot wait to book again. Do yourself a favor and book this place!

Evan2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
• We had great weekend! Hot tub in the evening, with some snowflakes falling. Delicious breakfasts both mornings. Great conversations with the hosts as well as quiet time for just the two of us.

• Expect relaxation when you arrive! We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Bill and Joe's place. Such a wonderful hidden gem with mountain views. Bill and Joe welcomed us into their home with sweet hospitality. They encouraged us to enjoy the spaces around their home, as well as nearby Lexington. All suggestions of what to see and where to eat were spot on! Breakfast was super yummy, hot tub was so relaxing, and location was fantastic to visit Lexington and surrounding exploration such as Natural Bridge. Thanks to Bill and Joe for a memorable time in the mountains. Loved our conversations, your home, and your sweet pup, Ellie Mae!

Kathleen2019-11-03T00:00:00Z

Our small family farm is conveniently located 10 minutes from Interstates 81/64 and historic Lexington, Virginia. The Tipi has amazing views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and all the wonders our little farm and community has to offers. We are convenient to many local attractions like hiking, swimming, brewery and vineyard tours and yet secluded enough to heal your stress, enjoy time with your family or simply a special time away from the grind. Come stay with us! You deserve sincere hospitality!
We offer a unique experience of staying in a Tipi for the ultimate in glamping! We have upgraded to a Sleep Number Bed for the ultimate in control and comfort. There is heat in the tipi! There is also an electric blanket for your comfort. There is a shower and bath house with all the comforts of home (completely enclosed for privacy and NOW it is even winterized to keep you warm while you take a hot shower and watch the moon rise over the mountains). We also have an echo dot! Use it for your favorite music or as an alarm clock! There is a keurig coffee machine with assorted teas and coffees, drinking water, and snacks in the Tipi. You can enjoy a fire in the fire pit (local laws apply) we do provide wood. There is a seating area under a cedar tree with views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, a perfect place to share a bottle of local wine and relax from a busy day or to melt away stress. We are featured as Virginia’s best under $100. https://www.thepennyhoarder.com/life/travel/unique-airbnb-every-state/
We are on a 200 acre farm, you can see houses but privacy is not an issue. Our driveway is just under 1 mile long.
• Such a beautiful experience! My boyfriend & I were only here for 2 nights but it was an unforgettable time. From the coziness of the tipi, to the views, their animals, and the weather, it was all perfect! Very cute details and warm hospitality from Sara and Jeremiah. We enjoyed it so much and hope to be back soon!

Diana2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
• This place is super cute! The tipi is a unique blend of cozy, private yet accessible. It was fun hanging out with the furry friends. Sara and Jeremiah are friendly hosts and it was a pleasure meeting them. Highly recommend checking it out!

Faraz2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
• My boyfriend and I spent two nights in this amazing tipi, and we could not have asked for a better trip. The land was gorgeous and full of amazing farm animals. Sara and Jeremiah were both so welcoming. We will definitely be back and hopefully keep this beautiful tipi as our anniversary spot.

• A magical time with so many thoughtful and creative touches. Don’t miss this alluring experience. 🌙

Lisa2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
• This place is a must see. It’s one of the best hidden gems we’ve ever encountered. Amazing bang for the buck and Sara, Jeremiah, Papa Beebes and all the “fury loved ones” treated us like a king and queen. Do not hesitate to check this place out.

Allen2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
• This was the perfect getaway for a night. Sara and Jeremiah were wonderful hosts — kind, helpful, and welcoming. It was a cold night, but the teepee was warm and cozy with plenty of blankets and a heater. There’s also a deck with seating and a nice chiminea for a fire (they provide all you need to start it). The stars were incredible. In the morning, we woke up to a beautiful view of the Blue Ridge mountains. The entire property is breathtaking. We will definitely be coming back! Highly recommend if you’re looking for a unique experience and/or an escape.

Micah2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
• We HIGHLY recommend this sweet little place. It is cozy, peaceful, and a one of a kind experience. The mountain views, farm animals, hosts, family pets, greenhouse, and of course the tipi all made our stay unlike anything we could experience anywhere else. It was a really special trip :) Don’t miss out!

Jenny2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
• Ethan and I had an amazing stay here! Sara and Jeremiah went above and beyond to make us feel at home and we absolutely loved all their animals and their property is gorgeous. We had a campfire and made burgers on the grill our first night and took Sara’s suggestion and hiked the beautiful Crab Tree Falls the next day. The tipi itself was amazing - it was so clean and super cozy and even though it was cold and windy outside we stayed nice and toasty. We both would love to come back again!

Dad's House is a comfy home that has a cabin-like feel. Tucked away in the Shenandoah valley, our 305 acre property is a quiet, remote, and relaxing area that looks over the blue ridge mountains and hills. As you can see in the pictures the kitchen, living room-dining room area, and the enclosed porch are in an open arrangement. Master and second bedrooms are 20 feet down the hall plus the 2 baths. Downstairs is a clean working basement with an attached double-twin bedroom.
Dad's House is immediately comforting. Our guests say they can breathe here. We believe it's a great place for a single-person to find solitude and inspiration, a couple to find sacred time together, and a family to find memories together that will last.
Dad's House is perfect for just relaxing, hiking, or going to many local sites of interest. The town of Staunton is 20 miles north and 15 minutes East of there is Shenandoah National Park. The town of Lexington is 20 miles south. • Theresa is an excellent host! Communication was great. The house is very warm with nice details. We enjoyed the views and the trails that are inside the property. Wonderful place!

• Expect comfort in a lovely peaceful setting. The house is immaculate and well appointed. Hosts are very accommodating.

• It was a great experience.

• A great gathering place for family or quiet respite for couples. Hiking & views were beautiful! Theresa has everything you need for a home away from home. The enclosed breakfast room is relaxing & affords beautiful panorama views through large size windows! Well kept & super clean 🙂

D2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
• Teresa was so thoughtful during our entire stay. What really stood out to me was her asking what time we expected to arrive so she could turn the lights on for us.

Sharon2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
• Nestled in a beautiful farm - Dads House awaits. We loved being welcomed by Teresa and all the touches to make us feel at home. The beauty of the morning sunrise is something we will always remember.

Sharon2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
• If you plan to cook, Dad’s house is a haven! You won’t need to pack a crockpot, any special sized pot or pan, or any utensil. Dad’s kitchen has it all! If you plan to hike one of the farm’s trails, take the paper map, and be patient. The one we took along the creek had several challenges, and would be recommended for experienced hikers. It’s possible, though, that we may have accidentally lost the trail. Dad’s house is clean and spacious, with room for everyone. The hosts are responsive, but leave you alone unless you need them.

Named for the couple who brought this Carpenter Gothic bed and breakfast Inn back to life in 1991, this light-filled room has lovely views of the gardens. Set farther back from the front of the house than the other rooms, the Robinson offers separate access to the second floor veranda. The bedroom features a queen-size iron bed, comfortable wing chair and a Victorian-style electric fireplace stove. The small, private hallway adds additional space and connects bedroom and bath. The private bathroom boasts a roomy stall shower. Snuggle up under a down comforter and let the soft murmuring of Mill Creek through open windows lull you to sleep in these comfortable Virginia accommodations. The Robinson is not a pet-friendly accommodation. We have one pet-friendly room; please reserve the Teter-Wood Room for your pet-friendly stay. Room Amenities: Small bedroom suite with queen bed, luxurious linens, sitting areas, desk, private bathroom with shower, plush robes, locally made toiletries, hair dryer, WiFi, Internet radio, Air-conditioning, electric fireplace, direct access to shared wrap around veranda.
This guest room has direct access to the shared veranda. The room also has a private hall to the private bath which has the feel of a mini suite.
Goshen is a small mountain town of 400 in the George Washington National Forest. Whether you experience the natural wonders of Goshen Pass or Natural Bridge, the many breathtaking hikes in the area or enjoy the cultural offerings of Lexington, Warm Springs/Hot Springs and Staunton, the Hummingbird is a nice home base. Steeped in Railroad history, our Main Home, the Hummingbird Inn is circa 1853 with the original 2 rooms dating back to 1780. The train passes in front of the Historic Inn! Serenity Cabin is located on the property next to the Inn and sits further back facing Mill Creek, a lovely trout stream that will lull you to sleep. We have one restaurant in town you can walk to and many dining options all within a 25-35 minute scenic drive from the Inn & Cabin.
• After a beautiful drive through the mountains, Sandra was very welcoming to us both as soon as we arrived. The rooms were even nicer than described and the common area was a perfect place to make a cup of tea, sit, and read during the rain - particularly the beautiful, windowed solarium. The entire Hummingbird Inn is exquisitely maintained and tastefully furnished. Our room had a very comfortable bed and plenty of space for us to relax. The bathrooms were clean and modern and bathrobes were provided, and the option to purchase Virginia wine right in the Inn was available. Sandra provided some great suggestions for places to see and restaurants to check out. There is not a strict lock up time at this BnB, so we felt free to go explore the nearby area at our own pace. That being said, we still got back relatively early so we could be sure to enjoy the property. Sandra and Jeff put out firewood for the fire pit by the creek, though it was raining so we couldn't enjoy it. However, we both appreciated the effort they put in to setting it up for us and hope the guests that followed got to enjoy it. Breakfast was wonderful the next morning and served at a reasonable time - no super early wakeups or pressure to be seated unnecessarily early. A great experience overall and a highly recommended place to stay. We'll be doing our best to go back again soon, hopefully for longer than just a one night stay. The Hummingbird Inn is a charming and comfortable place to stay and I highly recommend making time to enjoy the Inn itself if you plan on staying.

Andrew2016-05-02T00:00:00Z
• Had a wonderful experience at The Hummingbird Inn with great company during our scheduled stay. The house and grounds were gorgeous and the drive through Goshen just as pretty. We especially enjoyed sitting out on the wraparound deck with coffee, wine, chatting with family while watching the hummingbirds fly in and out. The rooms were cute and comfortable, with some of the softest sheets we've ever felt! Breakfast was delicious and you could really tell Daniel and Patty took care of all of the little details to make your stay over the top. We raved about the weekend to our friends and hope to come back again some day!

We were visiting our son at VMI for the weekend and are looking forward to spending more time at your Cottage over the next 3 years. Thank you Bernie and Carol for allowing us to share your home.

• Very comfortable, relaxing cottage! The kitchen is small but very well appointed. New stainless steel appliances, double oven, loads of silverware and utensils so cooking is like being at home! Fiesta dinnerware for 8 makes it easy to have nice dinners. The kitchen table pulls away and has a leaf so you can fit 6 if you bring some chairs like we did. The living room chairs are really cozy and the couch was also comfortable. The bathrooms had updated tile and vanities with good lighting. Nice touches of books, piano fireplace made it so homey. We didn’t use the front porch because it was winter but the backyard is huge!! I would highly recommend staying here!

• Tucked away in a beautiful setting, if you are looking for peace and quiet, this is the place to come. The room has all of those special touches (chocolates and cookies) that make you feel especially welcome. Pilot and Radar, two very friendly, lovely, and well-behaved dogs made us feel like part of the family. We would recommend Matt and Lynne's place to anyone wanting a quiet, scenic get away.

• Great place to stay when visiting Lexington. Most awesome hosts provided very pleasant conversation and that 1st cup of coffee in the am. Room is spacious and very comfortable, many extra conveniences that were not expected. Highly recommend!

• Very nice place to stay with understanding and respectful owners. I used their place for one night for a friend's wedding in Lexington. Very flexible with my schedule as I was coming down from Arlington Virginia. Would stay again if I needed to!

• Matt and Lynne have lovely home that is easily accessible from the highway. They are communicative and welcoming, and I would be delighted to stay with them again!

Sarah2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
• Lynne was a fantastic host. In our situation there was a slight hiccup, and Lynne worked hard to make sure everything went smoothly. Follow the directions carefully! Don't use your GPS to guide you! Lynne warned me, the house is five minutes off the highway, but Google wanted me to add twenty minutes of backroad. Listen to Lynne! There are three cats, and they are pleasant chaps. Not intrusive, and not allowed in the guest rooms, but available for pets. If coming at night, like us, use caution- the roads are dark. Thank you, Lynne and Matt!

Steven2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
• Matt and Lynne were amazing hosts. From the very begining, they were quick and thorough communicators who made scheduling and arriving very smooth. The room was very clean and they made sure we had everything we needed from water waiting in the room to chocolates on the nightstand. The location is absolutely beautiful with an amazing view of the mountains from upstairs where they had breakfast and coffee available. We would definitely recommend them.

Bre2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
• This is a lovely place to stay. Lynne is a gracious host (did not get to meet Matt). There home is very easy to get to off I-81 and about 5 minutes from interstate. The room was very comfortable, clean, and private. As soon as you turn into the driveway, it seems that you are entering a beautiful park. Views are very nice. Fairfield is a nice little town right in between Lexington and Staunton. I highly recommend this airbnb.

• The hobbit home is beautiful, Randy and Linda are both very kind and helpful. It was a perfect little getaway!

Danielle2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
• If you're a lord of the rings fan, you're doing yourself a disservice if you've never gone here. The hobbit home is authentic and beautiful with so many tiny details you will spend hours discovering for yourself. The owners warmly greet you and immediately make you feel like family. You get a wonderful tour of everything once you arrive by the owner/wizard himself. The outside of Hobbiton was just as beautiful and fun to explore especially at night sitting on the romantically candle lit floating ferry with your loved one. After our check out the owner invited us to his woodshop to see how all the magic is made. He was as humble and delightful as he was a master at his craft, showing us some of his wood carving techniques. I highly recommend taking one of the wood classes he offers, but there is no pressure to do so by any means. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our experience there. My wife and I are already planning another journey :). You will not meet friendlier B&B owners, at least in my own experience. Do not hesitate on this experience, you will NOT be disappointed. Also the complimentary seed cake the owners wife makes is amazing!

Morla2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
• Randy and Linda’s hobbit dream house was dream! All the details that they put into the house truly blew our minds. We attended Randy’s wood workshop which was such a fun experience! Already looking to book next years visit. Thanks Randy and Linda for such an amazing experience!

Virginia2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
• Randy and Linda are absolutely delightful hosts. With a space as beautiful and unique as theirs is it would be so easy to rest on that and have minimal contact with guests. However they really go the extra mile to make sure that your stay feels like an extension of home. Both in the initial greeting, down to check ins and recommendations to make sure you are doing okay. We participated in the pipe and broom making workshops - an absolutely great investment of our time on our honeymoon. It was so great to be able to make things together and was a great value for the length of time that randy spent with us. Not only on our specific projects - but just showing us what they do and how. Never felt pressured or inept while working with someone so skilled. Cannot recommend this stay enough!!!

Amanda2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
• What can I say, "A Hobbit's Dream" was a literal dream - and this is coming from someone who has not read the books nor watched the movies. I snatched this place up when I saw a rare opening that fit with my schedule because my significant other is a huge LOTR fan. Although it was one night, I figured one night was better than never experiencing this AirBnB and I'm so glad we went all in. Randy and Linda are a delight - they met us upon arrival and gave us a tour of the location. We were treated to little gifts, the most delicious seed cake, and complimentary red wine. The amount of props and history in this little hobbit hole is unfathomable, but what touched me greatly was the amount of love and work put into this spectacular living space. We had a wonderful time playing dress up, enjoying the solitude of the property, and (at least for me) learning more about the world JRR Tolkien created. It was also wonderful that Lexington was just a short 15 minute drive away so that we could step out and enjoy the small town and dinner before heading back. My significant other also participated in the pipe-making class and Randy went above and beyond gently guiding him through the process, never making us feel rushed or unwanted. We enjoyed listening to his tidbits and motivation behind the Hobbit house and we were pleased with the generous hospitality. We would absolutely book this place again in a heartbeat (if we can ever find an opening!) - it is a great escape and a must-do for anyone, Hobbit fan or not. You will not be disappointed - thank you, Randy and Linda for creating such a magical space!

Anantha2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
• From the moment I booked until the time we checked out, Randy and Linda were attentive, responsive, and exceptional hosts! I booked this trip as a Christmas gift for my husband, who is a huge hobbit fan, and it exceeded every single one of our expectations. The property and the hobbit house are both equally breathtaking. We took a class with Randy on one of our last days, where my husband built a pipe, and I made a broom, and Randy was so accommodating, patient, and kind. Even if you are not a hobbit fan, the time and care Randy and Linda put into creating a one of a kind adventure is unparalleled; from the personalized invitations and warm welcome upon arriving, to the most delicious homemade seed bread and complimentary wine, to every single thoughtful detail put into the home, to the warm goodbye as we checked out, I cannot say enough about our stay. We cannot wait to come back!

Melissa2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
• Randy and Linda have put together an astonishing and wonderful experience! From the moment we opened the mailbox at the Hobbit Hole, we were immersed in Tolkien’s world. The property is gorgeous and the landscaping is stunning. Every nook and cranny had a new treasure to find inside the Hobbit Hole. And we had all the comforts of home! When you visit, do not miss Randy’s workshops! We had the best time learning from him and making things with our own hands. He is the best teacher! We are already planning our next trip to the Hobbit Hole and can not wait!

Anna2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
• Randy and Linda have created a fabulous version of a Hobbit abode. From the moment you get out of your car you begin to experience a visit to Hobbiton: the pond out front, the tobacco stick fence, the gravel path flanked by vegetable boxes and bee-hives - even the laundry hanging on the line - build up to opening the door into “a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort.” Beautifully built by Randy, Hobbit’s Dream is spotlessly clean, cozy and comfortable. Your hosts have gone to great lengths to provide you a great experience and will be glad to engage with you through crafts classes (Randy is amazingly creative) or let you go your way undisturbed. We have visited Hobbiton in New Zealand and were even more delighted with our experience here in Virginia. We’re already looking at the calendar to find another time for a trip to Middle Earth.

• This place is amazing! it is a large room decorated in the spirit of historic Lexington and an immaculately clean bathroom. Details that make a traveler's stay convenient and comfortable are myriad - a lint remover and eyeglass repair tools, should you need them. A small library with books one might actually want to read and ample coat hangers. And all just a 10 minute stroll to the center of town. We highly recommend this stay.

• This place is adorable and was impeccably clean! I was traveling for work, so the super fast WiFi was much appreciated. I didn’t realize when booking that this standalone house is on the grounds of a Bed & Breakfast. I didn’t make it over, but it was nice to have the owners nearby if something came up. I would definitely consider staying here again if back in the area.

• What a beautiful stay for us and our two dogs. Amanda was an incredible hostess - great communications and everything was ready when we arrived. During one of our dog walks around the farm, we were lucky enough to run into Amanda while she was taking care of the horses. If you're looking to get away without going too rustic, these cabins are for you. We had everything we needed (including coffee in the morning) and could wander around the farm. Our dogs weren't too sure about the horses at first, but they got used to their big friends. Thanks so much for a wonderful place to stay.

Welcome to the Mae Lee House! You’d never know that you were just outside of downtown Lexington. Whether it is a weekend getaway or a business trip, relax and unwind in this spacious, open concept home, all while enjoying a beautiful mountain view in almost every room of the house.

The master bedroom has a king sized bed, as well as a master bath. Bedroom two has a full sized bed with a Jack-n-Jill full bath. The downstairs offers a large rec room, full bath, and bedroom three, which includes one single bed and twin/full bunk bed.
Although the Mae Lee House is located just outside of town, you'll be in a quiet neighborhood with a private setting. You are able to take advantage of the location as well as relax and watch the wildlife at the same time.
• I needed a place last minute to stay at in Lexington and Brooke got back to me within the hour of booking. I was able to check out late the next day after getting in late too which made it nice. The place would be nice for a larger group, but I really only needed to utilize one bedroom. If I ever am back in the area I would definitely stay here again! And maybe make more time to do some stargazing because it’s nice and dark at this location with the perfect back deck. They do have a basket that has menus and pamphlets of stuff to do in the area and several kid friendly items as well that were a nice touch even if they didn’t apply!

Jessica2020-02-18T00:00:00Z

Can imagine great dinners on the wide balcony with mountains in the background - nothing better. Lots and lots of garden with perfect hills for dogs and kids! Inside is spacious with no clutter, tons of closet space and good kitchen. We’re planning another trip if hosts will have us back.

• This was our first Airbnb experience and it didn't disappoint. It's proximity to VMI was perfect and the living space was large enough to have our cadet and a few other cadets hang out for a bit in the evenings after dinner to play board games. The apartment itself was clean and spacious and the kitchen was well stocked for our needs. I just wish I had known about this space sooner as I would have booked it for every parent's weekend! Highly recommend!

• Upon entrance to Twin Maples, I said to my daughter, "THIS is why we always look for an airbnb instead of a hotel when we travel!" Our gracious host showed us to the clean, comfortable, and tastefully decorated carriage house, which was surrounded by a lovely view of the foothills. There were plenty of amenities, and the bed was comfortable (and I'm picky about beds). I came here to tour colleges with my daughter and I would definitely stay at Twin Maples again.

Amy2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
• My boyfriend & I moved to North Carolina from Pennsylvania & stopped at Twin Maple for the night. It was perfect & have already recommended the place to friends. It was a quick stop but would love the opportunity to spend more time there one day.

Neil2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
• We loved our stay. The spacious unit was just above the garage with gorgeous views of the farm and rural landscape. Inside, the bed and couches were so comfy and full kitchen was appreciated. We had our two pups with us..and they enjoyed meeting the horse on the property as did we. It wad just a 10-15 min drive into downtown Lexington to enjoy its fine restaurants and shop. We would love to return again to Twin Maple and Lexington.

• We had a wonderful stay at Twin Maple. We were greeted upon our arrival and shown the beautiful apartment. It has a large living space, big bathroom and nice kitchen with lots of cooking utensils. The farm is beautiful and quiet and the view was beautiful. We would definitely recommend Twin Maple and will stay there again when we return to Lexington.

• Cindy's place is absolutely amazing. Beautiful, quaint and secluded. Just what we were looking for. Cindy was a very gracious host. The cabin was stocked really well. Highly recommended.

• What a gem! We loved our stay. Really off the beaten path, but that’s what my girlfriend and I needed. Get away from the hustle and grind of our daily life. The house was amazing! New build and so spacious and comfortable. Everything you need! Maybe purchase a hotspot and bring with you. I didn’t mind, but my girlfriend has children so a bit hard for her to communicate with them. Cell signal at bottom of driveway. Staunton was great for nice dinners and a very quaint little town. Did some tubing on the James River and paddle boarding on the Elkhorn Lake. Just a very needed trip and Cindy was great!

• Everything was very nice and as described. We loved the cabin . This area is remote and without cell service but we were familiar with the area and already knew this. It is very beautiful and peaceful . The cabin is very private.

• This is a hidden gem. Out in the country in a forest type setting. The house is so inviting filled with antiques and architectural beauty, The little towns in the area were so fun to explore. You do not have cell phone service or tv. We didn't care but some might.

• Cindy is a wonderful host. Warm and welcoming. And the cabin and surrounding area is wonderful for a weekend get-away in the mountains - quiet, peaceful, relaxing and rejuvenating.

• This is an excellent little hidden gem near everything fun along 81 and the Blueridge Parkway! Very cute older farmhouse on lovely grounds. Thoughtful touches and the best part is it is dog-friendly so we were able to bring the pup on our hikes!

• Brendan's home was charming, adorable, and cozy! Being fur parents, it was great that we were able to bring our dogs along. We loved the spacious back yard and picturesque scenery. Brendan was very helpful, and easy to communicate with. Look forward to future stays!

• Bucolic setting, wish we could have stayed longer but we had a seminar in Lexington to attend. Very responsive host.

• This is a charming cottage tucked away in the country. A great place to unplug and unwind and get outside to explore. Yet, it is less than 30 minutes to Lexington or Staunton for restaurants and grocery stores. The beds are comfortable and Brendan is a gracious host. Wifi and Netflix are accessible if needed, but the treasure is the escape from the day to day grind and embracing the great outdoors. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting down by the creek around the fire pit, just visiting and listening to the nearby cows grazing. I highly recommend you stay at Far Country!

• This was my boyfriend’s & my second stay at Brendan’s place and we are already ready to go back! It’s a perfect long weekend getaway, especially because we live in a busy city and don’t get much peace and quiet. The house is cute and cozy and I love how there is personality in each detail throughout. It’s the perfect mix of modern and rustic — love the Edison bulbs! He had also just installed brand new kitchen appliances which worked great. The property is lush and tranquil; highly recommend lounging in the hammock, reading a book, while listening to the trickling of the creek. We made a fire outside at night and I’m pretty sure I could see every single star in the sky — something you never get to see in the city! Our dog also had a blast romping around the property :) I don’t think you will find a more communicative, friendly, and reasonable host than Brendan. We felt like we had everything we needed and we appreciated how flexible he was about checking in a little early. We adore this place & can’t wait to return!

• Loved loved Brendan's place. It was such a great getaway and we enjoyed the house and especially the outdoor space. We loved walking through the grassy areas and along the creek behind the house. We started a fire in the firepit and had the best grilled steaks. The kitchen had everything we needed. Lastly, the outdoor shower was fun and refreshing to use. Kind of nice to shower and look up at the sky. We hope to stay at his place again.
