Places to stay in Gortin
My place is close to Shops, restaurants, park, children play area, walks. You’ll love my place because of the location, the people, the ambiance. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets).
I can arrange 4 single beds or 1 double and 2 single if required.
  • Roisin has been such a wonderful host and her home is warm and welcoming! When we first arrived, we had just missed the last bus to Gortin for the night but Roisin so generously offered to pick us up from Omagh. The pictures do not include all of the lovely natural wood accents throughout this home. There is a large kitchen with plenty of cleaning supplies, flatware, and cutlery. The bathroom and 2 bedrooms are quite large as well. There is also a closet with extra linen. The wifi has been excellent as well, and we have been able to run our online business from Roisin's home. As for the town, it has everything you need and the people are so refreshingly kind! This has been such an excellent stay, that we decided to book Roisin's place for a second month. I would highly recommend staying here :) Thank you so much Roisin!

  • House cosy.. Beds comfy.. Spotlessly clean... Great base for touring local area.. Great communication from Host Roisin, very prompt replies to any queries.. Wifi service excellent, consistent connection to internet during our stay.. Everything you could possibly need in the kitchen... Parking right outside the front door.. Would stay here again as met all our requirements..

  • It was a great stay! It is everything that is in the pictures was exactly the same. Roisin was there when we checked in and answered quickly if we needed anything. A little bit of a moldy smell in one of the rooms but other then that was a great airbnb. 25 mins from strabane and everything else is a hour or so away. Derry is 40 mins. Gortin is a cute tiny town!

    Kristin2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, fully equipped kitchen, spacious and comfortable rooms, ... Roisin was always there to answer our questions. It's easy to park the car in front of the house, but not noisy at all. If we come back to Northen Ireland, we'll repeat. // Clean house, with a fully equipped kitchen and spacious, comfortable rooms ... La Roisin was always there to answer our questions. It is easy to park in front of the house, on the main street of the village (but for nothing noisy). If we return to Northern Ireland, we will repeat.

  • Roisin is a lovely host! The bungalow has everything you need for a home from home stay and is ideally placed for lovely walks in Gortin Glen Forest Park and the beautiful countryside that Northern Ireland offers. It is great value for money and we will be returning in September. Gortin itself is charming and friendly and has shops (including post office), pubs, takeaways, a chemist and a restaurant (soon to be two restaurants and a coffee house). Highly recommended!

  • Had a nice weekend stay at Roisin's house in Gortin. The house is very clean, and Roisin was very quick to respond to emails/texts etc. The house was also very cosy, there is a log burner which we never got the time to avail of, as the house was warm enough already, but I imagine in the Winter this would make the house very warm and cosy. Also - it's handy to the nearby Glenview chip shop on the Main Street - nearly too handy ;)

    Arthur2019-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant! Will definitely stay again

    Daniel2019-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Just as described. A few mins walk to shop/pub/restaurant. Very clean. Lots of useful things, eg tea/coffee/milk/herbs/oil etc. Super value for a two bedroom flat.

  • Spacious, clean, quiet accommodation. Off the beaten path but not far from the usual tourist stops. The local countryside and forests are beautiful and unique. No restaurant option in town (at least not when we were there) but Omagh is not far. Apartment is well equipped for cooking your own and there were 2 small grocery shops close by.

  • Roisin's place is a quiet retreat despite being located "over a pub" - not once was I bothered by noise. The apartment is fully equipped with everything you could need for a short weekend or a long holiday. Roisin also provides extra special touches throughout, like fresh eggs, milk, bread and butter for your first breakfast (which was sufficient to last me 3 breakfasts!). Internet/WiFi and plenty of TV channels if you're into that. "When" I return, I'll definitely stay at one of Roisin's apartments.

    Alice2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great host an lovely flat

    Dave2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant host. Very thoughtful and all of one would want provided.

    Jimmy2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay and is exactly as advertised. Handy notes were left around the apartment to use specific appliances and self check in was an easy process.

    Tess2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • FASTEST INTERNET IN THE AREA! I'm from the US and was looking for a place with decent internet to do some work remotely while travelling. I was very happy to find that Roisin's flat had 63 Mbps Download/ 18 Mbps Upload, the fastest by far that I found anywhere in Ireland. This was fast enough for me to take several hours of conference calls over the Wifi without any drops and easily stream YouTube at night without buffering lag. To top it all off Roisin was an extremely nice & responsive host, there is a very hospitable pub downstairs, and a grocery store, pharmacy & chippy all within a short walk.

    Sean2019-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I really enjoyed this apartment in Gortin. It is spacious and clean. We met lovely friendly people. We were located for everything we were doing in the area. Roisin is a super host. We loved having the fresh eggs.

  • What a hidden gem. A nice quiet location. Perfect for recharging the batteries. An open fire which was lit upon arrival, you just can’t get a better host than that. The walks on site where easily navigated and the scenery utterly breath taking. My husband and I enjoyed our weekend, the cottage felt like a home rather than a show house. The bbq was a fabulous touch which we made use of. Contact with the host was great, timely responses and thoughtful touches. Can’t wait to go back!

I have been hosting for over six years! Over that time I have hosted hundreds of people from all over the world ! I have a single room available if you are travelling solo or it’s also available for long term too. I have a separate listing for double room too . The house is in a very quiet residential street. Town is a straight , 10-15 minute walk. The Belfast/ Derry bus stops a five minute walk from the house too. I am available to pick you up if that is required and I’m happy to do this!
All house facilities are available for guests. Full access to kitchen and cooking, washing facilities. I’m an old fashioned host who loves to make people feel welcome. Guests are encouraged to make my place their home while staying
The town is a straight walk from here. It takes about 15 mins to reach town. There is a nice riverside walk nearby I can also recommend lots to do , near and far from here
  • Thank you for your kind hospitality no doubt i will be back

  • Very hospitable and lovely stay.

    Tony2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Omagh then if you are lucky enough that Yvonne's is available then I would suggest in the strongest possible terms to book it. A fabulous host who could not do enough for us. The flat is self contained with every amenity. It is perfect and absolutely spotlessly clean. Yvonne thinks of everything and will answer you immediately if you message her. Omagh is a wonderful place to go and everyone is so friendly. I will return and if I am lucky enough Yvonne's will be available. Book it.

    Martin2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you to Yvonne for her hospitality

    James2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is the second time I've stayed at Yvonne's. Once again the place was spotless, and I was made to feel very welcome. It feels like a home away from home. Highly recommended.

    Gavin2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely apartment to stay in :) Yvonne left lots of little extras which made it very welcoming and homely. Yvonne was great with communication and met us on arrival. If needed a stay over again in Omagh would definitely book this apartment again :)

    Karen2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Yvonne's in January and despite being cold out, the apartment was lovely and warm. Communication prior to arrival was great and Yvonne was happy to answer questions and such, and did so quickly. On arrival Yvonne greeted me and made me feel welcome. There was a care package in the apartment which I found very useful. Despite being attached to Yvonne's own home there was very little noise too. Would happily stay again.

  • You do not want to miss this little gem! Great host, great location, beautiful home with a wonderful bed, washer and dryer, well appointed and decorated. Patricia was an amazing host! When we found out at the last minute that Ryan Air wanted us to print our boarding passes, I contacted Patricia at 8:30 at night and she printed them for us and brought them to us! She was amazing. Our only regret was that we didn't stay longer at this awesome house.

We sat out and enjoyed a drink on the picnic table. Conway's Bar was just down the street where all the locals (and owner) greeted us as friends and we enjoyed our time chatting and exchanging stories with them. Ronnie was great with communication and directions to his place. Thanks for hosting us!

She brought us milk so we didn't need to go to town; had tea and cake ready for when we came in; and she let my teens accompany her around the farm to see (and feed!) all of the animals. My daughter considers bottle-feeding the lamb to be the top of her vacation memories. It's tough to impress a teenage girl -- thank you, Isabella!

  • Great place!

  • We enjoyed our short stay here very much and Hamilton and Sonia couldn't have been nicer. When we got up in the morning the view from our room was outstanding. Breakfast was very nice.

  • Having stayed in a range of accommodations when visiting Omagh for annual events over the past 20 years, I can confidently say Arney Lodge is the best yet in my experience. The communication with Hamilton and Sonia was fast and helpful, directions to their place were detailed and spot on, Hamilton was on the lookout to direct us in and Sonia was at the front door as we arrived . After a warm, hospitable welcome we were shown around the large , modern house to a spacious, bright, beautifully furnished bedroom with panoramic views over the surrounding fields and grazing horses to the Sperrin mountains beyond. The continental breakfast in the homely, bright breakfast room was excellent - whilst watching the free range poultry roaming outside. Sonia and Hamilton could not have done more to make sure we had everything we needed and it is obvious that great attention to detail has provided thoughtful touches throughout. We may have been among the first guests to stay in this relatively new listing however Arney Lodge sets a fine example for the rest.

  • This is an amazing place. So warm and welcoming. Clean, beautiful, and Sonia and Hamilton are truly lovely. This is a hidden gem you don’t want to miss. We will be back on our next trip.

  • We had a great stay at Hamilton and Sonia in a beautiful, well maintained house with a view of the fields with the animals. Very warm welcome and with a great breakfast in the morning!

  • Absolutely fabulous accommodation with wonderful kind, friendly and helpful hosts. The large luxurious room has spectacular, panoramic views of the beauty of the rolling hills and valleys of the countryside. The luxurious accommodation is on a working farm and in the fields outside your windows the ponies and sheep of the farm graze happily as they admire the beauty of the scenery for themselves. My room was just beautiful! It was a large, bright expensively-furnished en-suite room and was fabulously furnished. It was plentifully stocked with a selection of teas, coffees, biscuits, mineral water and even chocolate! It was spotlessly clean and was plentifully supplied with towels and soaps. The room was cosy with a T.V.. The water was hot and the double bed extremely comfortable. When I asked Sonia and Hamilton for directions to a particular location they even went to the trouble of writing out the directions for me; and even offered to show me the way! I inquired about eating locally and they recommended the local Mellon Country Inn Hotel where the Roast of the Day I ordered there was superb, large and very reasonably priced. The staff there were very friendly and helpful too. Back in Hamilton’s B&B my breakfast was fabulous and included some freshly cut fruit beautifully served by Sonia in a beautiful dining room. I couldn’t recommend this fabulous B&B more highly. Like me, I’m sure that you will be very sorry leaving this beautiful B&B and your hosts. In a word it was “idyllic” John Daly, Killarney, Co. Kerry.

Located in the rugged, rural, lesser spotted Sperrins. An ideal location for people to discover the Ireland of ancient and old from possibly the most central location in the North of Ireland. The Wildlife and Flora are spectacular and flourishing, with no light pollution and the absence of intense farming. Ramblers, Cyclists, Nature Lovers, Bird Watchers, aspiring Photographers, Star Gazers and those that love to tour and sight see into the unknown will love our space and place.
Our family home is the first new home to be built in the valley of Coneyglen in the Sperrins in over 100 years, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty [AONB] in the remote Sperrin Mountains in the Ancient Heart of Ulster. Our farm home featured in the popular TV documentary 'Lesser Spotted Journeys' hosted by Jo Mahon in the Autumn of 2017. This area carries the roots and embodiment of Ireland's most ancient times from aeons ago, rediscovered only in the 1930's and 40's for its Ancient Beaghmore Stone Circles, the Ogham Stone, Dun Ruadh [the Red Fort] and many treasure's, it is a hidden undiscovered Tara for sure. Davagh Forest Mountain Bike Trails are 5 miles away and we are awaiting the new and exciting building of the Mid Ulster Dark Sky Observatory next year. I am an Award Winning Therapist with extensive experience in the Beauty and Holistic fields [Aromatherapist, Reflexologist, and Colour therapist....] and have a keen interest in nature, walking and the ancient history of the Celtic people. I live with my husband Shaun and our 3 children. This space and place is so unique and special in my heart it would take a book and not a paragraph to express it. We are blessed to be part of it and look forward to sharing our special part of the World with fellow travellers.
A true thriving nature reserve in the setting of the Ancient Heart of Ulster. The river runs in the Centre of the glen below in search of the sea, the birds sing and the peaceful ambience captures your attention. Coneyglen is steeped in history, folklore, fairylore and a timeless ambience - where time has stood still.
  • When travelling, on the first one or two days, I always try to find myself a place to be at ease, to leave home behind for a while and get ready for something different. Kerry’s place was precisely that, couldn’t have wished a more welcoming host. They live amidst of the beautiful Sperrins mountains and are very proud of that as well. While I cycled up to their place via one beatiful road, Kerry drove me up and down the even more scenic one the day after, including a stopover at the Beaghmore megalithic complex. Always great to bump into such genuine people. A truely nice way to start a holiday!

    Caroline2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • High in the Sperrin Mountain with outstanding views surrounded by sheep, what more can you ask for. Lovely family who are very accommodating. The house and room are lovely and peaceful. This was a wonderful spot for me on this journey.

    Geraldine2019-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding hospitality, cozy setting, and amazing people. Kerry’s place is a wonderful place to stay to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The property is secluded and peaceful. The whole area is quaint and relaxing. There is plenty of sightseeing nearby, and this place is in the perfect spot to make a couple day trips from. At Kerry’s, you’ll experience a delicious hearty breakfast to start your day amidst the beautiful lands of Northern Ireland. The guest room is clean, located in its own corner of the house and has its own restroom. I’ll definitely be back again someday!

  • We had a fabulous stay at Kerry's. I stayed with two friends for 3 nights and we were looked after so well. The room is lovely, light and cosy. The beds are very comfortable we slept almost too well! There is a lovely en-suite with a shower and plenty of towels. It's really nicely decorated and has lovely little touches with a kettle, tea, coffee, biscuits and water in the room. Breakfast everyday was delicious and set us up for the day one day we didn't actually need to eat again until dinner time! Kerry put on a cooked breakfast, fresh fruit, toast, croissants and cereals. The house is set in an area of outstandingly beautiful scenery. We did a mixture of things from a trip to the North Coast to local activities and walks around the Glen. There's a wonderful history of the area and Kerry and the family are happy to share stories. We would love to return again and would highly recommend this place and the lovely family!

    Rebecca2019-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Very pleasant rural retreat. Wonderful hospitality! Kerry greeted us with tea and scones at check in and provided a phenomenal full breakfast in the morning. Remote landscape was beautiful and allowed us to enjoy the starry night. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. Would highly recommend!

Enjoy village life in the Sperrins. Central location for touring all of Northern Ireland and Donegal. Large airy house with four double bedrooms and two bathrooms. Open plan fully equipped kitchen and dining room. Wood burning stove in lounge.
This 4 bed house exclusively for guest use can accommodate 8 people. A cot and high chair can be provided. There is a downstairs shower room and an upstairs bathroom.
This village house is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The Ulster American folk park is seven miles away and well worth a visit. There is a forest park nearby to explore and a golf course only six miles away. It is a quiet village but there are several pubs and two restaurants to enjoy.
  • Great house in a good location. Was perfect for our needs. Would definitely recommended to others looking to stay in the area.

  • Una is a great host, very kind and understanding, the place worth visiting!

    Hanna2018-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Una is a great host. She was very helpful and even invited us for a drink the last evening. The house is clean and in great condition. The area is also fantastic, Gortin Forest is a really beautiful place for hiking. In another review someone wrote "Gortin doesn’t look like much on google maps, but it is set in a stunningly beautiful landscape. " I had the same experience. The area is way nicer than it seems on google maps. I recommend Una's house to anyone wanting to visit Northern Ireland.

    Manuel2016-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Una’s house was very comfortable, meticulously clean, and very well furnished. She stocked the kitchen generously with snacks and breakfast items. Showers may be tricky for non-Irish/British -- get instructions! Be aware that cell phone coverage in Gortin is spotty. The wifi worked, but slowly. By the way Gortin doesn’t look like much on google streetview, but it is set in a stunningly beautiful landscape. The scenic drives are not to be missed. The town itself has three pubs, a nice restaurant (Foothills) and a couple of small grocery stores. All in all this is a very good choice for a base in the Sperrins area!

    Rich2016-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • The house was great. In the centre of Gortin which itself is in stunning surroundings. Can't say enough about Una. She was helpful beyond doubt. (Even gave us a lift back into to Omagh) I will stay again the next time I'm up that way and would recommend others to follow suit.

Bedroom 1 has lots of storage a kingsize bed and a view of omaghs 3 church spires. bedrooms 2 and 3 have a double bed with ample storage. The living room has a smart TV and leads off to the dining room just off from this is a modern kitchen. We are always on hand to help as we live just opposite.
We have a private covered barbeque area to the rear which is part of an enclosed yard. Lock up garage with a dog kennel off street parking for 3 - 4 cars
Very quiet area with minimal traffic . It is also very safe
  • A very clean, family accommodation, everything you will need is provided in the house. It is a little dated in places but this doesn't affect your stay. The hosts are very accomodating and friendly and respond within the hour. I would definitely stay here again.

  • If you are planning a trip to Omagh, this cottage is the ideal place to stay! It was spotless on arrival and Brian and Marcella were so quick at responding to messages. All the amenities that we needed were in the cottage ready for us. The location is perfect for getting into Omagh town and for a class night out! Would definitely come back and stay here again!

  • Excellent. Highly recommended. Thank you.

    Ashley Duygu2018-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Marcella’s cottage for a weekend. The place is clean and about 5 minutes from the town centre. There is a supermarket just a few minutes away. Brian greeted us upon arrival and made us feel very welcome. He also helped us out with local food places. The kitchen is equipped with everything u need. The bedrooms are large enough to sleep 2 people (we were a group of 5). Brian responds quickly to any questions we had. We even got to delay our check out time which we really appreciated and had a bit of a sleep-in and were able to take our time. When we got back home we realised we forgot a coat and scarf, Brian was nice enough to get it back to us. Overall we had a lovely weekend and great stay! Thank you very much.

  • Lovely hosts. Very accommodating and went out of their way to make us feel welcome.

    Quinn Piling Limited2018-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Brian and Marcella’s home is in the suburbs of Omagh, which means that without being far from the centre of town, is quiet and peaceful, and close to the Tyrone countryside. We were made to feel at home, with all the amenities that we needed, plenty of towels and hot water. Brian was quick to arrive and take care of us, and then left us to enjoy the home, while still being easily available. It was a very comfortable place in which to base ourselves. The Ulster American Folk Park is definitely worth visiting - only 10-15 minutes drive away.

    Paul2018-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • We were over in Omagh to catch up with our friend, Country Singer, Gareth Pritchard, and this property was in Just the right area, Absolutely Fantastic Cottage, Clean and spotless throughout, Brian was a brilliant host, nothing was too much trouble for him, we are so impressed we are booking again for next year, If you want to stay in a property that is a home from home, this is the one, I can’t praise it highly enough.

Tourism ni approved This is a very relaxed house and guests are welcome to make themselves at home here. Town is a 10 min walk. Riverside walk nearby. It's a very quiet area and guests are free to use the garden and I am here to help in any way I can. There are no cleaning fees or any other fee to be added on to price advertised.
I have 2 rooms available, a double and a single. All solo travelers can avail of the single room. It's unfair to be charged for a double room if you are travelling alone, I know, I've been there!! I have a garage to store bicycles or kayaks or anything else too. The rooms are in a 3 bedroom semi detached house. it's a really quiet cul de sac, and only a 10min stroll to town. All guests are welcome to relax and make themselves at home, feel free to watch tv or use the kitchen or garden. There is also free wifi. There is a river, 5 mins from property , with a riverside walk and u can stroll down to watch the salmon leap. You can also be anywhere in the north of ireland in an hour! the local scenery is beautiful, set in the foothills of the sperrins. there is lots to see and do, with alot of important ancient sites in the immediate locality. there is kayaking, mountain climbing, hill walking, coasteering, mountain biking and lots more available and i can arrange trips for you. I have an extensive knowledge of the local area and around the rest of the country so lots of tips on where to go and what to see. I welcome short term and long term visitors.
There is plenty to see and do. I can help with planning journeys and days out
  • Very friendly helpful host. Great value.

  • Pam is one of a kind. I wish we could give her 10 stars. Her house is so welcoming and friendly, the animals are amazing and Pam is incredibly thoughtful. Some of our highlights from our trip to Ireland were on Pam's recommendation, especially the Glenn. Pam truly makes your stay in Omagh and Ireland a memory that will last forever. Cannot thank Pam enough for having us.

  • Never met a host like Pamela! Oustanding kindness and a great person to talk to and she gave me loads of tips on the place to visit in Ireland! The house is nice and clean with really comfortable bed. I would come back 1000 times!

  • We have spent the night at 4 or 5 (it’s hard to keep up) different Airbnb’s in the last week. Pamela’s has, by far, been the most hospitable. She is kind, generous, funny, and so much fun to interact with during our stay. Her home is cozy, the bed comfortable, and the choices in tea abundant!

  • a lovely stay, if only it could have lasted longer. The barn conversion was amazing and quirky, just what we like! Brilliant host that couldn't have done more to help us make the most out of our stay

  • Although the Yardsman was “basic” it was so much more than that. Full of history and a wonderful fireplace. It was just right for what we needed, and more so, the host (K), was accommodating with so much of our travel needs. We really enjoyed our stay. Such a unique experience!
