We are passionate about exploring and keen to help you make the most of your visit to the Huon Valley! We have many kayaks and are happy to take people kayaking if we can. We also have plenty of camping/hiking and outdoor baby gear and we would be happy to help with shuttles/planning/gear for long hiking/kayaking/mountain biking trips in the area, please enquire if interested.
  • Such a cute place, they have done up the barn with some lovely touches. The hosts were lovely and greeted us when we arrived. There were lots of apples on the tree and we were told we could have as many as we like... Eating apple pie tonight!!!

  • Rustic old shed renovated tastefully into beautiful roomy and cozy accommodation. Comfortable king bed had us sleeping like logs. Lovely verandah looking over the apple and pear orchard. Host’s communication was excellent. We’d love to stay again next time we’re in the area.

  • This place was gorgeous! Beautiful barn that’s both roomy and cosy feeling, just like the photos only better. Adjacent to the house, but definitely private. We bumped into Shannon and Dan - they are lovely people. Communication was excellent. The veranda faces away from the prevailing wind so even in gusty conditions we were perfectly comfy in the sun outside, sheltered in amongst the apples! We loved our stay, and would 100% rebook if we are down that way again. Just what an AirBnb should be!!!!!

  • This is one of the coziest places I've ever stayed! The couch is like a cloud on earth! I love the old school heater which works a treat to keep you very toasty and creates a snuggly atmosphere! Way better than expected, the pictures really don't do this little gem justice! I was absolutely thrilled when I opened the door to see how gorgeous it really was. Beautifully decorated. Love the kitchen and bathroom. I would have loved to have stayed longer to soak up all it's amazingness. Great location too! Really friendly, accommodating hosts! A+ all round :)

    Cassie2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely 3 nights staying at the barn. The location is great for exploring the huon and hobart and surrounds. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck overlooking the private orchard of an afternoon after a day of exploring.

  • We would definitely recommend Shannon & Daniel’s barn to anyone. It’s small from the outside but so spacious inside. We spent our evening cooking dinner and doing a jigsaw puzzle that was provided. Shannon is a wonderful host, she’s very friendly, welcoming and has a lot of knowledge about local attractions and things to do. We will definitely stay here again. Thank you!

  • This was a magical place to stay. Julie’s home is stunning - you will feel like you’re in the lap of luxury, with every detail attended to. Then the property itself is stunning - a creative’s dream. There are so many places to wander, to sit and dream, to watch and listen to the countryside. The animals are so cute - I spent so much time with the highland cows; it was wonderful. Three nights were not enough. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat.

  • Julie's spa suite was amazing and had everything we needed. The setting and her beautiful animals was enough but there were plenty of thoughtful touches that made our stay particularly memorable. We were able to use the bbq and hottub as we wished and went on the ATV farm tour which was a highlight of our trip. It is clear that Julie works incredibly hard proven by her amazing home and farm. We were also supplied with breakfast items and Julie even made us breakfast on our first morning. She also has two very sweet and welcoming pooches. Would 100% recommend. Thank you!

    Faye2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Julie’s place is a lovely spot to have a weekend (or longer!) getaway. It is set on an incredible property that we got to see on the farm tour, and enjoy through the enormous bedroom window. Like everyone says, the cows are definitely a highlight, and brushing them will remain a high point of our trip. The suite itself is lovely, with lots of thoughtful touches - including a delicious homemade breakfast parfait and fresh sourdough bread.

    Stephanie2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Julie was such a great host! Place was way beyond what i expected! The place was very spacious and clean. Also not forgetting the delicious parfait made by Julie! Would definitely choose this place if i’m coming back to Tasmania!

Whispering Spirit Cosy Cottage and Minature Pony Stud is situated in a peaceful and tranquil environment on a farm with nice gardens and Valley views. Go for walks over the farm, enjoy the wildlife at night, lookout for the shy platypus and watch the foals. We are a 40 minute drive south of Hobart. Places to eat and shop are Franklin and Huonville on the picturesque Huon River. Well suited for longer stays.
Cosy Cottage is a retreat to come home to after a day exploring the beautiful Huon Valley and with a kitchen in there the perfect place to prepare your local bought ingredients and go for walks in the garden and visit the ponies. Just enjoy the peace away from the main roads!
We are situated in a nice quiet valley, from where you can see the valley, mountains and houses and bush and most of the year it is nice and green.
  • Heidi’s place was great, such a beautiful area. The house is well equipped for all of your cooking needs, and is very peaceful.

    Hannah2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location, very affordable, and the farm is BEAUTIFUL. Come to see what the Huon has to offer.

    Joel2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay in the retro style cabin, it had everything we needed. The location is lovely and great for families with children, as there are sandpits, swings, toys and all the animals to see. Heidi was hospitable and welcoming, then left us to enjoy the property which was perfect. The complimentary breakfast ingredients were much appreciated and enjoyed. As others have mentioned, internet and phone reception are limited and available in certain spots only, but that could be considered a bonus if you're seeking a true getaway. And yes, we did purchase some extra goodies from the produce shop that were delicious.

    Alicia2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi’s place is a very cosy cottage in a beautiful setting. It has everything you would need and as a bonus there is an excellent stall where Heidi sells lots of produce from the farm and extras like homemade organic bread, cakes, jams and desserts. The animals on the farm are lovely to see and the miniature ponies are delightful. Heidi and Herbert are extremely friendly, generous and helpful.

    Caroline And Robert2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was the best Airbnb I’ve ever been!!! Without signals and WiFi, we could truly enjoy ourselves and experience the unique countryside lifestyle! Ponies were cute, berries were fresh, and the scene were gorgeous! They’ve prepared food and entertainment (books cds puzzles), so you won’t get bored. But remember to bring cash so that you can purchase farm produce in the stall. It’s a shame that we couldn’t buy more eggs and berries!!!

    Rosie2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely and quiet with tasty supplies from the farm store. Great location close to all the Huon Valley has to offer but far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet.

    Meagan2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying here. The view of the Huon Valley was fantastic and we headed south to Cockle Creek from here. It is a working orchard and Heidi’s produce stall, filled with her beautiful cooking, provided us with great food. Our first breakfast was provided. It’s a very comfortable spacious holiday unit. A breath of fresh air! Highly recommended.

  • Staying at John and Min's cabin was perfect for our family of 3. We really enjoyed the little cabin, especially being able to wander around the farm and explore (perfect for our 4 y/o) daughter. Nice touches in the cabin, especially a pre-made fire that just needed to be lit! Very close to Hobart but you feel right away from it all. Check out the little road-side blue esky at Kaoota for some treats!

We are a Christian family on a small farm in the heart of the Huon Valley. The area has easy access by car to shops, walks and restaurants and is only 30 minutes to Hobart. We have a guest room available for one or two guests. This room has a double bed a bedside cupboard, lamp and heater. Attached to the bedroom in a private tv lounge with desk space, a couch and a bookcase. You have a shared bathroom and laundry. Tea, coffee, milk and cereal are supplied in the guest room cupboard.
Wonder around the property. Access to the farm and animals in the grassed areas. Collect fresh eggs from the hen house or have a quiet picnic by the creek. Fresh water trout and a shy platypus live here.
A short walk to The Pelverata Falls Track and only 20 minutes to Willie Smiths Apple Shed and easy access to all the Huon Valley has to offer. A partially winding 30 minutes through to Hobart with all of its attractions.
  • John and Min (Melinda) are very hospitable and great hosts. They made our stay very comfortable, and the communication has been very good. Their property is beautiful. John makes and sells very delicious boerewors (a South African specialty).

  • John and Min recently started renting a room inside their own house, besides the cottage you can rent. It is really lovely with a small livingroom attached to the bedroom. Everything was really clean and the breakfast in the morning is a nice extra service. It is a quiet area with a lot of nature around the house. John and Min are really welcoming and made time for a chat even though they were prepping for a Christmas market the next day. We really recommend staying here.

Trenance Cottage is a seperate & private well-appointed self contained two bedroom cottage. Trenance is a Cornish word- meaning valley farm. You are welcome to wander around our 15 acre hobby farm. We have chickens, turkey Trevor’, Alpacas’s, sheep, lambs, highland cows, and our very friendly dog (breed - Lagotto) Janet’. Pick seasonal vegetables. Direct access to the spectacular Huon River for fishing (in season) or a swim on a hot summers day. Huonville - 14km Hobart - 34km Airport - 53km
The Cottage is a private & secluded getaway , being approx 50 mtrs away from our main house. From your balcony you may spot us going about our daily farm chores. We are striving to become self sufficient (work in progress)! You’re welcome to visit our root vegetable patch, along with our new raised-bed gardens. For those chilly nights there's a wood fired heater, electric blankets, plus a reversed cycle air con for heating or for cooling on those hot Tassie summer days. Beds- Two extremely comfy king size beds, with luxury sheets. One bed is able to separate into two single beds. Unwind after a days sightseeing in a steaming deep bath, or be at one with nature under the outdoor shower. There's a semi enclosed private deck with outstanding views where you can have a BBQ & watch spectacular sunsets. You have your own washing machine, dryer and washing line. Mobile phone reception isn’t strong, but in the right place you’ll get enough to send text messages. The WiFi works well, but it is satellite NBN, with limited monthly data. No downloading or streaming please.
Beyond our beautiful 15 acre property there are numerous hiking and walking tracks. Restaurants- A local village (10min drive) is Ranelagh. We highly recommend a fabulous little BYO restaurant the Ranalegh General Store. It’s usually open for lunches & dinner. Best to make a booking for dinner as they get quite busy. Willie Smith Apple Shed is another great stop for lunch or an early dinner. They also have live music on Friday nights. Huonville (12min drive the other way), have numerous shops, takeaways, cafes, etc. Load the Huon Valley App. It has great information about sightseeing, attractions, etc. https://apps.apple.com/au/app/huon-valley/id1462704077
  • Great place and great host, the homemade bread was fantastic, highly recommended

  • Amazing place! Ticks every box of what an Airbnb should be. Lots of little homely touches topped with amazing views. Will stay for a week next time we’re in Tassie!

  • An incredible place to stay. From the moment we walked in we felt at home. The place is comfortable and stylish with everything you need. The home grown produce and jams were an added delight. The kitchen has everything you need to cook a huge meal and enjoy on the deck watching the sunset. Our walk to the river accompanied by the friendly sheep was fun and unique. Trenance cottage was completely private and gave the feeling of being the only people in the area. Ali was not far away and was incredibly accommodating to anything we needed. The local area has lots to enjoy including Willie Smiths cider house on Friday night for amazing food and live music and Hartz Mountains NP. Overall, a great stay for our family and we wouldn’t hesitate to come back and unwind again.

  • Highly recommend Ali & Paul’s property in Judbury. Their place is situated on beautiful land with an amazing view filled with an assortment of animals. We enjoyed feeding the cows and sheep and the peace and quiet of the country. Newly renovated with all the amenities you could need, lovely attention to detail. Beautiful kitchen and bathroom with a great bath and shower. Very comfortable king sized bed in the main bedroom. Ali was kind enough to provide us with a port-a-cot for our daughter. Little provided extras such as milk, fresh eggs and homemade bread were appreciated. Everything has been thought of. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again. Loved it!

  • Me, my wife and our one year old daughter recently stayed at their house for a week. It was the perfect retreat for our family. The area is beautiful. The house is cosy but fantastic. The magic that Tasmania has to offer is that escape from the rest of the world, and this place was the perfect way to do just that. I can't recommend Alison and Paul's place enough.

    Kieran2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Our six night stay at Trenance Cottage in Judbury in rural Tasmania was simply fantastic. Alison and Paul are wonderful hosts (as visiting Canadians, the hosts with the most from our perspective), and made us feel so at home on their beautiful property. The cottage itself is warm and inviting, with all the amenities, beautiful décor, and is sparkling clean. There are great personal little touches throughout the cottage (and apart from the bathroom in the cottage, there is a fabulous - and private - outdoor shower as well). The view from the property, and the property itself are picturesque - and there's plenty of rural road and nearby areas to walk, hike or picnic if you so desire. Judbury is close enough to Hobart to avail yourself of the sights, the restaurants, MONA and all the other attractions the city has to offer if you so desire, whilst Trenance Cottage provides the opportunity at the same time to stay and experience a beautiful part of rural Australia - relax, hike, walk, and discover the wildlife (wallabies, Tasmanian Devils, wombats, kookaburras and so on). We will certainly be back at Trenance Cottage for another visit in the future.

  • Trenance Cottage and surrounds are SO beautiful! We loved being there. Ali and Paul were so gracious and quick to respond when we needed anything. I loved that we arrived to some fresh produce and also that we could freely walk around the beautiful property.

SILVER CREEK FARM - Nestled in valley. Gorgeous, retro comfort. Self contained cottage. Private and quiet with large bedroom- queen bed, Persian rugs, French doors - relax on sunny northern deck. New eat in kitchen, sitting area, bathroom, garden-lovely views of garden, forest and paddocks. Parking to door. Adjacent to 1890's farmhouse. WiFi Walk (25 min) or drive (5 min) Cygnet. 50min to Hobart. Breakfast supplied - farm fresh eggs, milk, cereal, home baked sourdough, jam, coffee teas .
If you love retro- this is the place for you. Comfortable with vintage flair, the space is unique and spotlessly clean . Decorated with our finds from near and far. You can lounge about in your freshly laundered dressing gowns or explore the property under the watchful eyes of the sheep or even native hens. Robert and I chose to live here because it's just so beautiful. We really want to share it with as many people as possible. Perfectly located -close to Cygnet but tucked away amidst the hills. Feels miles from anywhere.Super quiet but especially at night. Great for animal spotting and stargazing. The guest accommodation is connected to the main house via a covered breezeway. Through the private entrance there are five areas: 1. The large vintage styled queen sized bedroom has plenty of atmosphere with a lead light window, wooden floors and Persian rugs. The french doors lead onto a wide north facing deck. Wall heaters and electric blankets ensure you will feel cosy. You can listen to vinyls on the lovely old HMV record player or simply relax , enjoying the birdsong. A TV is available, just ask us and we will install for you. 2. The living/dining/kitchen area continues the comfy retro styling. The newly appointed kitchen has a stove top, microwave and fridge. Fully equipped with lots of pots, pans, crockery and tea/coffee making facilities. Breakfast supplies- cereals, milk, butter or marg, oil, vinegar, fruit, bread, eggs, tea/coffee/jam/etc. Retro dining table and chairs provide a cosy eating nook. Sit in the armchairs by the french doors or relax on the deck .You can see pasture, forest and the hills in the distance. There are plenty of books in the vintage cupboard by the arm chairs. You might even want to sketch the scene using the art supplies . 3. Bathroom-fully tiled with shower. Shampoo/conditioner/soap/t-paper/tissues provided. Towels/hairdryer/first aid kit in cupboard. Ceiling heat lamp/fan extractor. 4. North facing deck accessible via french doors from bedroom and kitchen. There's a generous sized table with chairs for outdoor dining . Armchairs provide a comfy spot for relaxing .Great vantage point for animal spotting ( torch provided) . A portable Weber BBQ is located just off the deck. Fire pit available in adjacent garden (dependent on seasonal fire permits). 5. The great outdoors! There are seats/ benches dotted around the property. By the dam, there's a picnic table with seats. It's really nice to really feel immersed in the environment. We're in the process of rehabilitating the winter creek beds. This involves removing the blackberries and other weeds, replacing them with native species. This will greatly improve the available habitat for native animals both small and large. There are pademelons, quolls, devils and bandicoots as well as native hens ,masked lapwings and ducks. Note: -No smoking - Rainwater tanks only- water is precious so please use in moderation - Compost bin under sink for fruit/veggies. - Fire blanket(kitchen) and extinguisher(entranceway) - large line for clothes drying - please use laundromat in main street of Cygnet for washing clothes . - Access to oven in main house if required( just let us know in advance and we can arrange) - Picnic rugs/torches/umbrellas /esky/thermos/beach towels located in outdoor cupboard at entrance - Privacy of guests respected. However if you would like to sit and read by our slow combustion fire in main house or share a cuppa feel free to come in. - The walk in to Cygnet is really lovely, especially the length of Olbrichs road ,winding past pastures with cattle, sheep and horses. If you want to walk only one way, let us know in advance and we can help out. Although only a short drive to town, the feeling is one of seclusion , with stunning views and no close neighbours.
Cygnet is a very pretty and and vibrant town in the Huon Valley about 45mins drive from Hobart. Cafes in Cygnet, Franklin, Huonville and Woodbridge are great places to relax and enjoy the slower pace of life down here. Newly opened Port Cygnet Cannery serves fantastic food , sourced locally. Local produce is available in the town centre as well as access to well stocked supermarkets and butchers. Seasonal fruit and vegetables can also be found at roadside stalls throughout the valley. We have a fortnightly market ( Ist and 3rd Sundays)here in Cygnet featuring arts and crafts made by local artists produce sold by local farmers. There are also regular markets nearby towns - we can let you know where they are and when they're on. Usually quiet, Cygnet really buzzes during the Folk Festival each January.Great performers in all he venues around town and plenty of music outdoors in the parks and on the street too. We are happy to help with transport if you don't want to drive , walk or cycle in to town. If you've booked in for a Fat Pig Farm feast we can easily take you there and collect you afterwards- it's only just over the hill from us.Let us know when you're booking and we will make sure we're available. There are beautiful beaches and river front reserves only minutes away from Silver Creek Farm. The Huon river is over the hill and Drip Beach in Lymington is so peaceful. Burton's Reserve on the waterfront at Cygnet is a great spot for sitting and watching the birds then taking a gentle stroll on the well maintained path around the bay to the yacht club. Randalls Bay and Mickey's Beach are are short drive away and well worth a visit. There are walking tracks there, both beachside and up through pasture . The view from the top of the hill is really lovely. Perhaps you would prefer to spend most of your time here on the farm soaking up the atmosphere. If you want to feed our sheep they'll be so happy- they love being hand fed! Your visit might even coincide with a film screening at the Franklin Palais -feel like a local paying your $5 entry fee ,sitting up the back enjoying the movie in the beautifully maintained old venue.
  • We highly recommend Fiona and Richard place to any and every one. What an amazing place. We loved the decor, very well equipped kitchen and bathroom, amazingly clean and really comfortable. So many homely touches with the added bonus of fresh baked bread, and biscuits. Both Fiona and Richard were welcoming and friendly, nothing was a bother. The chickens were also friendly. Location was very convenient for us going to bruney island. We loved our stay and again thankyou. 10 out of 10 for value, comfort and friendliness. Do not hesitate to stay here as we will again.

  • Robert and Fiona’s little retro hideaway was perfect to get away from it all yet so close to the town of Cygnet which surprised us with plenty of fun places to shop and eat. Our hosts went to a lot of trouble to ensure we had all we needed and were helpful, thoughtful and discreet. We’d highly recommend their accommodation for anybody wanting a rural setting with no distractions other than the chickens and the abundant wildlife. Fantastic little outlook overlooking a pretty garden and a sunny deck to sit out on and enjoy a quiet drink. Thank you Robert and Fiona!

  • Very welcoming, with the personal touch. Home grown/made produce a feature. Ideal isolation from the 'bustle' but very close to the iconic Cygnet township. Perfect combination with a lunch at Fat Pig Farm, making for a memorable visit to the South-East.

Only a kilometre away from all the conveniences of Huonville, the ‘capital’ of this famed apple, cherry and berry growing region, a mere 5, 10 or 15 minutes away from the villages of Ranelagh, Franklin and Cygnet, and a vast array of local wineries, quality food producers, providores, local bakeries, cafes, restaurants and farmers markets. Hobart, Australias smallest capital city (with some disproportionately big attractions), is a 35 minute drive away (the airport is approximately 50 to 60 minutes)
  • This absolutely exquisite barn is beautiful beyond words. It is as sophisticated as it is functional, as relaxing as it is stimulating. A heavenly location, kind and classy hosts, five stars finishes and special touches throughout, and an unforgettable few days to treasure. I came to visit on my own and felt completely embraced by the space and surrounds. A heartfelt recommendation to visit this tremendous place, especially for all spirited travellers seeking a touch of luxury within the bounty of nature.

  • "WOW!"....the words you'll undoubtedly utter the moment you enter the jaw-dropping space that encompasses Big Shed House (BSH). Ron & Yvonnne's modern and inspired renovation of a humble wool shed is an absolute oasis among the gum trees. Sparkling clean, fully appointed with every amenity you could ever need and with a feature wood heater that commands attention - you'll be gaping in awe at how beautiful the space is! I went in search of a romantic hideaway to celebrate my partners birthday and BSH was the absolute best choice - don't even bother looking anywhere else. Ron & Yvonne were engaged from the moment I enquired, and were more than happy to offer suggestions, tips and recommendations on the places to eat/drink and activities to get the most out of our short stay in the Huon Valley. I have stayed at many Air BnB properties over the years, but none has been quite so special, nor have I received quite such care and thoughtful insight by a host. Do not hesitate to book at BSH - it truly is a work of art, and an oasis you'll not want to leave. Thank you R&Y for making our first (but certainly not last!) trip to the Huon Valley so memorable.

  • Such a great experience ... Yvonne met us on arrival and had stocked the fridge with farm fresh eggs , butter , local Huon apples , milk and such a well stocked pantry we were very spoilt . The Shed is amazing and filled with everything you need to relax , cook up a beautiful meal in the chef kitchen or relax with a Tassie sparkling in the free standing bath .!! We wish it had of been cold enough to light the fire ( all set for us on arrival with plenty of wood ) Will come Again Thankyou both Kim and paul Smith

  • What a beautiful place to stay in! Felt very private and secluded for only 30 mins out of Hobart city. The home had so many amenities to make out stay comfortable and we can’t wait to show our friends the photos of the place!

    Simona2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Ron & Yvonne’s Big Shed House is thoughtfully and stylishly decorated - the house is in a very convenient location, close to shops and attractions. The hosts were easy to communicate with and thoughtful in what they had left in the house for us - the fridge was full of local Tasmanian condiments and fresh milk which made coffees the first morning delightful. Would absolutely stay again.

  • Big Red Shed is A gorgeous place to place to relax. Beautifully & creatively designed & fitted out. Super comfortable. Location Is easy, with access to interesting local spots. The additional touch of a welcome swallows nest at the front door with two babies, Very sweet. We tried not to disturb them. Hosts easy to communicate with.

    Erica2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Perhaps one of the nicest AirBnB I've ever stayed in. Extremely thoughtfully designed, while still feeling comfortable and approachable. Perfect for a couple to use as a base for the Huon Valley and South Coast.

    Charlie2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best Airbnb experiences ever, there is no way you could be disappointed with this space. The detail and effort that has gone into renovating what I guess was an old shed or barn is so impressive, everything just works. My girlfriend and I stayed for four nights and came away feeling so relaxed. Ron & Yvonne are very gracious hosts - a few nice touches like fresh mangoes for breakfast and some local tips via text message but other than that it felt like we were all alone for four days. Can't recommend enough.

Riverdance Farm is an 18 acre working farm, with Alpacas, Guinea Fowl and all the native wildlife that roams the Wellington foothills of the Huon Valley. The cottage has 2 out of 3 entrances that face away from a main farmhouse. You are welcome to explore our property, or the local area of the Huon, with Huonville only 8 minutes away. We are close to Hobart, and central to accessing the beautiful southern part of the island. Port Arthur is approximately 2 hrs and Launceston 2.5 hrs.
You are free to walk our property via the laneways, just keeping in mind it is a working farm, gumboots/sterdy footwear is strongly recommended. We are so close to amazing events such as the Mid Winter Festival site, Huon Show, Hobart is 35 minutes away and many local restraunts and of course, cider and gin houses! You can follow us on social media: I: #riverdancefarm F: Riverdance Farm Tas
4 kms to Willie Smiths Cider House and 10 minutes to the local shopping hub of Huonville. We are at the gateway of the Huon Valley.
  • We cannot recommend a stay at Riverdance Farm enough! It's quiet, has all the amenities you need plus some! The massive king size bed is so comfy & welcoming with it's plush pillows & super soft linen. There is loads of space inside with everything including a lovely big bath tub, so new you could not ask for more. Gas cooking is fast & the kitchen large enough to cook lovely gourmet meals from all the fresh produce in the area. There is so much to entertain & despite being a farm it is still close to shopping and all you would need is just a hop, skip & jump down the road. There is plenty to do but if you just want to unwind you can sit on the deck & watch the alpaca & guinea fowl in the paddocks, or go for a lovely walk down to the river & visit the little hut there. You cannot go past this for quality & value that's for sure! Renee is so welcoming & is full of info on the area. Truly an asset to Airbnb, we can't wait to go back!!!

    Justin2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Rennee's place was much better than we expected. Spotlessly clean, very comfortable and lovely personal touches. We will be returning for sure.

    Diane2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Renee’s place was charming and beautiful. The space was super clean and the bed was comfy, there was plenty of amenities in the kitchen, and the Netflix on the TV was a phenomenal bonus. Make sure you feed the alpacas if you stay here!

    Misha2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Renee was fantastic, some extra touches and a really comfortable stay. Yes, full size towels do make a difference. Very convenient for exploring the Southern part of Tassie and close enough to Hobart.

    Roddy2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Riverdance Farm really exceeded our expectations. The place is quite large, really homely and has everything you need to really base yourself in one place and explore during the day. Great kitchen for cooking, large bathroom with a bath and lovely little spot outside to watch the Alpacas. Renee was easy to communicate with, really warm and friendly and we loved feeding the Alpacas. You won’t be disappointed!

    Helen2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • Really comfy, clean place in a lovely, quiet setting!

    Alice2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Renee has created such a beautiful space! The farm is gorgeous and the cottage is so clean, homey and welcoming. Renee has amazing communication and is more than happy to help wherever she can. • Gilles's place in the Huon Valley is a beautiful retreat. Quiet and peaceful location with a fabulous view overlooking the valley. All amenities were first class, clean and comfortable. We put the chef's kitchen to good use, preparing meals with the local ingredients we sourced as we explored the region. The Taste of the Huon Food Festival was on while we stayed, and that was excellent. You must visit Harvest & Light cafe, picklery and gallery in Geeveston if you get a chance for superb tasting plates of their housemate goods. Highly recommend Gilles's place as a great stay in the Huon Valley.

  • A gorgeous rustic cottage full of charm. Was lovely to sit in the sun and relax on the deck. We went to a great little cafe for dinner which was conveniently located in Franklin only about 5 minutes away. Thanks Tiffany for your hospitality.

    Andrea2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely location and very peaceful. We found it very relaxing and found it to be a great base to explore everything that the area has to offer.

    Mitchell2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time staying at the cottage for a few nights, taking walks in the area and just relaxing, drawing, writing and watching movies. A great place to take some time off and just be away from the city for a little while. Tiffany and her family are incredibly kind and very welcoming and their communication was excellent. This was especially relevant to us as we were traveling by public transport - which was very doable, despite the remote location. Tiffany was very helpful in giving information about bus lines beforehand and we even got a lift back to the city when we left. And we loved the trampoline!

The Huon Burrow is a unique underground house nestled into the hillside with amazing views over the Huon River within easy walking distance of cafes and restaurants and the Wooden Boat Centre at historic Franklin in the Huon Valley. Franklin is located about 40 minutes' drive south of Hobart and is renown for rowing and wooden boat building and restoring. You can also enjoy sailing the river on the restored Danish sailing ship, the Yukon, or just enjoy the birdlife.
Due to being buried into the hillside, the dwelling has relatively stable temperatures throughout the year requiring little to heat or cool. It is fully self-contained with a full kitchen and washing machine. We provide breakfast provisions, fresh milk, and fruit in season. We are well based to explore further south and throughout the Huon Valley, famous for its vineyards and fruit growing. As we add the final touches, we will update more photos.
We are within walking distance of cafes, restaurants and the Wooden Boat Centre and Living Boat Trust at historic Franklin on the Huon River.
  • Great spot for touring the Huon Valley. Very clean and comfortable. Great views to wake up to. Very well appointed for two people. Hosts very knowledgeable and made great recommendations. We loved the uniqueness of the Burrows. The Huon Valley is a very pretty part of Tassie. We attended the Taste of Huon, a great event. Will be back next year.

    Brett2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • This place was a fab find. Clyde and Gaye have thought of everything and were so welcoming and friendly and ever so helpful. Was awesome that an air B and B had brekky items as this doesn’t happen much I’m finding these days. Bed was comfy and the shower is awesome!!!!

    Jill2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay with Clyde and Gaye, they were lovely to chat and share stories with and were very accommodating. The space itself is very special - built underground by Clyde himself and is very comfortable and modern with everything we needed and more. There is even a beautiful horse in the paddock next door which they allowed us to feed. Would love to come back someday and stay for longer in this beautiful part of Tasmania!

  • A big thank you to Paul and Judith who spoiled us so much during our stay. We had wonderful holidays in Tassie and the climax was our stay at the house on the hill. The house is much nicer then you might expect from the pictures. It has a gorgeous view over the whole valley and is newly renovated with wonderful (bath)rooms, a lot of style and love. Don't miss to ask Paul to cook for you!! You won't regret!! He is a secret chef and serves delicious food and breakfast. We couldn't have stayed at a better place and thanks again to two wonderful hosts. Susanne

    Susanne2016-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Paul & Judith made us feel welcome from the very start. A fleeting overnight stay didn't give us enough time to take advantage of what they have on offer. Their very clean & comfortably appointed Federation style home perched overlooking the Huon River valley, afforded magnificent views which were lost because of our late arrival. However with our fire aglow in the living room, we were well satisfied until morning light. Once the morning mist dispersed, we fully realised the beauty of their position. Breakfast choices were delicious & nutritious & we lingered over the selection. Since we were interested, Paul gave us a wonderful kitchen garden tour & taste testing, a surprise that we hadn't envisaged. He even supplied us with the name of my favourite new green. We stayed in the garden longer than our limited time really allowed, enjoying the lovely aspect, the fresh is best flavours & Paul's hospitality. We chose well for our only night's stay in Tasmania! Had we known earlier of the comprehensive in house dinner menu selection that they had on offer, we would have taken more advantage of Paul & Judith's culinary skills too. :)

  • I would recommend Voytek's accommodation. It was roomy, pristine, well-designed and equipped with appliances and accoutrements to cover over and above basic needs. The grove of trees beyond the kitchen window was cooling and peaceful. Voytek was a great host, thoughtful and caring.

Located in the heart of the Huon Valley is this lovely 3 bedroom, self contained unit. It is set up high with sweeping views of the valley. Just down the road from the famous 'Summer Kitchen Bakery' and 5 minutes from the centre of Huonville. The accomodation is set on 5 acres with a lovely garden and lots of wildlife to enjoy.
Ranelagh and Huonville are considered the gateway to the south of the state. You can enjoy many beautiful roads trips with apple orchards and farms with lots of places to stop and explore. Geeveston, filming location of 'Rosewood' is only 30 minutes drive and is full of quirky shops and cafes. Cygnet, art central, is a 25 minute drive and the shops and festivals are worth checking out. The Cygnet Folk Festival in January is not to be missed. There are numerous local markets with locally grown and made products. Of course, only 30 minutes drive away is the famous Salamanca Market in the heart of Hobart City. There is plenty of cider to try and cafes to visit. Just 10 mins from the accomodation is Willie Smith's Apple Shed with delicious food and home grown apples and cider. They have an incredible Cider festival in Winter that is fun for the whole family. There is so much to see and do!

Strong timber and canvas construction with a wood fired heater gives our tipees warmth, privacy and close connection with the surrounding nature reserve. Fully carpeted, double sofa-bed, this glamping experience is just 50 minutes south from Hobart. IMPORTANT NOTE: At Huon Bush Retreats, you will have close contact with the sounds and smells of the surrounding forest. Native animals roam wild without cages. Small animals might sometimes access the tipees. If this sounds great, read on....
Huon Bush Retreats is located in Tasmania's Huon Valley, 50 km from Hobart. Situated within an extensive habitat reserve, this nature retreat has wildlife, rainforest and bush walks on-site. The Retreat features solar-power and composting toilets. A multi award winning, carbon positive (green globe light accredited) retreat. Privacy is protected by 4km winding gravel road steep in places. Each tipee is in its own private nook in the surrounding forest with a private deck, outdoor seating, a double bed that folds away into a sofa, and a cosy wood-heater. Bedding and towels supplied. (We can also add a foam mattress on the floor, with bedding and towels, at extra cost.) It is 30 second walk along a forest path, to the shared bathroom facilities and 1 minute to the large undercover kitchen area with gas cooking (stovetop, grill, oven, bbq, cooking and eating utensils) and an outdoor fire, also, a modern shower block with outdoor bath and eco-friendly composting toilets. Tipees have 12-volt solar powered lights and a cd player, towels and linen are included. IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a Glamping Experience (Glamorous camping) This is not a typical BnB. You will have close contact with the sounds and smells of the surrounding forest. Native animals roam wild without cages. Small animals might sometimes access the tipees. If this close connection with nature sounds good to you, then you have found the right place. If it sounds terrible, you might be happier in a sealed sterile room in the city.
To enjoy our extensive private nature reserve, with 5km of walking tracks through rainforest to a mountaintop and small waterfall, we suggest that you stay at least 2 nights.
  • Fantastic location, great amenities and Stylish accomodation. Loved the Paddy Melons and Possums

  • Such a gem of a spot.

    Katherine2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Loved this spot, close to nature but very comfortable in the teepee. Loved the outdoor cooking facilities, and that all the rubbish/recycling/compost was separated! Understand that this place would not suit everyone, but for us it was so perfect. We loved the beautiful walks and seeing the animals.

    Katherine2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Off the beaten track, off the grid and basically off the planet. Our night in a tipee was awesome. It’s certainly not the traditional glamping experience but it’s authentic and nestled in gorgeous scenery. There are heaps of walking tracks and a lot of wallabies that come through to greet you. This would also be a terrific overnight stop for anyone with kids so they can experience the wildlife in its natural habitat first hand

    Edward2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing, absolutely stunning. Such a great place to have a get away! The teepee was cozy and the bush bath was something else! Would recommend to anyone wanting a little get away!

    Vito2019-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Paul's place.. We normally stay in hotels but wanted to try something different. Paul's place has everything you need to have a relaxing time in tune with nature. The Teepee is cosy, bed large and crisp sheets. The toilet and kitchen areas were very clean and had everything you needed. The walking tracks are beautiful and well kept. Yes the drive way is steep but Paul provides information on how to best manage the steep hill. We also enjoyed the bath tub which is very romantic. A great stay look forward to coming back in winter to try out the wood fire. Thanks Charlotte, Andrew and Ben.

    Charlotte2019-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Back to extremely-complete-nature? This is the place!

    Fikri2019-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Paul's bush retreat is a peace of heaven for every sustainability enthusiast and nature lover. If you are after serenity in the midst of an enchanting/ed forest, where wallabies and native birds greet you at your arrival, make sure you stay at least a few days, to take it all in. My personal favourite was the outdoor bathtub with stunning views of the Tassie night sky. We'll definitely be back!

  • We were very comfortable at ‘Harry’s’, the house has a lovely character and is thoughtfully presented. The fire kept us toasty warm and the big country kitchen was great for a big family celebratory dinner for my mother’s birthday.

  • Love the area where the property is located and it is located within short distances from cafes, bakeries, supermarkets and interesting places to visit. The property is very roomy and would suit families.

  • It felt like such a treat to stay in such a beautiful house! We had some really cold nights in The Huon Valley but didn't notice until we stepped outside. It's so warm and cosy with the fireplace in the kitchen and electric blankets on every bed. Loved watching the sunset from the front porch and grabbing herbs from the garden to add to dinner. Thank you for accommodating us Louella. We can't wait to stay again :)

    Abbey2019-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for a few nights while celebrating a friends wedding nearby, it was the loveliest stay. So warm, peaceful and with so much character. The shower, bath and comfy beds were highlights for all 5 of our group and we loved sitting in the kitchen having a meal by the fireplace. The views are just fantastic too from every room. We will be booking again for our next trip down to visit friends in the area.

    Emily2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • A picturesque stay in the country side. The house was lovely and large and fantastically heated from all directions including the large in kitchen fire place. Plenty of room for a big group to come and chill. Beautiful views across the wide open spaces and also friendly horses to visit across the road. Quite close to Huonville and not out of reach of Hobart. Would definitely stay again.

  • Is there a 6 out of 5 option for a view? This place would receive it if there was. Amazing B&B and the farm tour was very fun!

    Laura2019-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • Julie is so accommodating and the space is unbelievable! The tour exceeded all expectations and being so close to all those animals (especially the highlands) was a unique experience, the small calves were a beautiful touch as well. Would recommend this to anyone who has a love for animals and an appreciation for a beautiful location. 10/10! 👏👏👏

    Courtney2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely must stay here if you get the chance - Julie’s farm stay easily surpassed expectations. The accomodation itself was incredibly comfortable, it was beautifully furnished and the view looking out into the paddocks is memorable. We were able to make use of the homes BBQ area to make dinner, and Julie went out of her way to provide us everything we needed. Breakfast included was wonderful too! Make sure you take up Julie’s farm tour as well - getting up close to the beautiful highland cows and the alpacas was a highlight. Julie was a wonderful host who made us feel right at home!!

    Mia2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Simply stunning location, the nicest view you could hope to wake up to in a very comfortable king size bed. The Cinema suite was very accommodating and the tour of the property and the animals was awesome.

  • Lovely place to get away.

    Dylan2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • WOW! Admittedly, driving out to Judbury I was a little apprehensive that I had chosen accommodation too far from a Hobart- I need not have worried! We drove the hour into Hobart twice, sampling a few wineries & the famous Willie Smith’s cider house on the way, however we found we preferred to stay local! Southern Tasmania is a magical foodies haven (think finding your own oysters) and the Chalet was the perfect place from which to explore. We were a large group of two families but we never felt like we were invading each other’s space. The kids were free to explore the beautiful property & dams and to hike the 1km down to a fantastic hidden swimming beach in the river. The kitchen is a foodies paradise, I did all of our Christmas baking & cooking on the gorgeous Belling stove. The outdoor bath and seperate bar area with magnificent vistas over the snow topped mountains in the distance were another nightly highlight. We could not fault this property- quality at every turn, comfortable beds, beautiful linen, everything needed for a perfect Christmas & family holiday was thoughtfully provided. Louella was an impeccable host, her local knowledge & recommendations led us straight to the best local butchers, cafes and produce stores. We spotted quolls, wombats, echidnas and even the illusive Tassie devil! Many special memories were made here at Judbury. We cannot thank, nor recommend Louella & the Chalet enough. THANK YOU!!

    Georgia2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Peace, quiet, privacy, endless views, comfortable bed, fully equipped kitchen, a hike out the back door, the Huon River a lovely stroll away... we loved it and left refreshed and happy.

    Betsy2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • WOW! We feel like the luckiest couple in the world to have had the chance to stay in this incredible home. Not only is it super cosy with great amenities and thoughtful little touches (the coffee machine with supplied coffee was a godsend being located in the middle of nowhere!), but the view from the deck just takes your breath away - photos cannot do it justice. Having a bath with a glass of wine while taking it all in is a special memory we will cherish always. We spent two lovely nights just the two of us but we would definitely come back with friends as this place is just too good not to share with others (and there’s plenty of space). Oh and the king size bed in the master bedroom is super comfortable and although there’s no phone service the Wifi is speedy and great. Thank you!

We especially enjoyed sitting outside in the beautiful garden for most of our meals, where we could admire the flowers and listen to the birds.
