Only 40 minutes drive from Edinburgh. and a short drive to some spectacular beaches. (If you need more space we have another 3 person flat available downstairs)

  • We had a fabulous stay in Gifford. The flat was very comfortable and suited our needs perfectly - parent and two young boys. Location perfect for us - visiting friends and family across the Borders.

  • Bryan and Ann were very responsive before the booking and throughout the stay. The flat had everything you need for a few days away from home, full of lovely little attentions (milk and chocolate in the fridge, take away and nearby pubs menu). My partner stayed there for a week while attending The chippendale international school of furniture which was about 20 minutes walk from the flat. A lovely and convenient place to stay in Gifford!

  • Very clean and tidy great host definitely recommend and use again thanks for having us

  • The Old Post Office was the perfect base for us for a family wedding. It is cosy, comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. We loved the highland themed soft furnishings. We were able to eat just over the road at the Goblin Ha where the staff were extremely welcoming. The coffee shop opposite was excellent too. Gifford itself is a delightful historic village.

  • Had a lovely weekend with my son in the Post Office flat. It was nicer than the pictures and had everything we needed for a short stay to visit family. I would certainly book it again. Gifford is a lovely little village and very quiet but not too far from all the sights in East Lothian and Edinburgh.

  • Real nice and comfortable appartment in the center of a nice small village. Two pubs within 50 mtrs and a coffeebar. Everything you need in the kitchen, bathroom, living and bedrooms are present.

  • Cute place with a perfect location in the center of Gifford.

    Stuart2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • A brilliant, well appointed flat, a great base for travelling around Lothian and Edinburgh, very clean, great Wi-fi and pretty much all you could need. The 2 pubs in the village are ok but maybe a little pricey, the co-op is just two mins up the road and is a god send for all those little bits you need. There is loads to do around the area. We had a brilliant time.

The Maltings, Haddington is a converted mill building next to the river Tyne in beautiful East Lothian. My flat is on the ground floor so it is good for wheelchair access. There is a designated parking space in the car park. Haddington has some great shops, bars and restaurants. Edingburgh is 30 minutes by car, 45 minutes away by bus, or there is a train station at Drem close by. East lothian is great for cycling, walking or immersing yourself in our many varied ancient monuments & castles.
Guests have access to the kitchen, lounge diner and their own private bathroom
Haddington is an ancient market town. It has some terrific cycle routes with excellent coffee and cake stops along the routes.
  • James is very friendly and on-the-ball with communications. His flat is sparkling clean, with all conveniences. The location in Haddington is also very lovely. Recommended.

  • I have stayed at James’s place about 5 times spending 2 to 3 nights each time I went to work in Haddington. I must say that James is such a wonderful host. Beautiful flat with everything in it tastefully selected and well arranged. Sparkling bathroom, well equipped kitchen and spacious double bedroom. To cap it up, this accommodation is in a very serene location.

    Ann2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed just one night with James as a stopover after a Christmas getogether with friends locally. James was warm & welcoming on our arrival, inviting us to have coffee and chat in his living room. We exchanged our stories of being Airbnb hosts and conversation flowed with ease. The room was very comfortable and we had exclusive use of the bathroom opposite. All the living spaces were spotlessly clean. James very kindly made some super-healthy fresh fruit & vegetable juice in the morning and we were encouraged to have some cereal too. James has a beautiful apartment and is enjoying the experience of being a relatively new Airbnb host. I would most certainly recommend his place as a convenient place to explore Haddington & East Lothian from.

  • You will get a warm welcome, comfortable room, private bathroom and a lovely breakfast

    Brian2019-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • James is one of the few Airbnb hosts who would deserve 6 stars. His hospitality is outstanding. He is very friendly and we had a great conversation. I had been cycling from London to Edinburgh and James' place was the last stop. What luck and coincidence it was that James is a fellow cyclist and with a lot more experience. He cycled with me for the last 35 km of my journey and shared a delicious lunch in Musselburgh.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our family weekend at Woodturners Cottage. The Cottage was very well equipped and spacious. We enjoyed Dunbar beach and the John Muir Country Park and his birthplace. We also enjoyed a concert in Edinburgh on Saturday night, it was great to be within reach of the city and the coast. We would definitely recommend the cottage thank you very much Jackie.

  • Cottage is very spacious and included lots of extra bits such as a dishwasher, washer, and mooing cows. Lovely fireplace, fully equipped kitchen, and fresh air. Highly recommend.

  • Lovely spacious accommodation. Good location for being out in the country, but close enough to get to Edinburgh.

    Katherine2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at your home on the farm. It was so fun to play games as a family in the spacious living area and the wood burning stove with freshly cut wood. Simon was willing to refill our basket of wood as needed. It was so convenient to have two full baths. It was such a treat to wake up to seeing the baby cows through the bedroom skylights. (No farm smell or annoying animal noises!) We loved the charming downtown of Gifford. Great meal at the Goblin Ha Hotel/restaurant. The drive to Edinburgh was easy each day. It was nice to be staying outside of the city. So relaxing and a fabulous place to unwind. The kitchen is fully equipped to cook up all of your meals. Thank you for your quick responsiveness to the hot water heater problem. You were always quick to respond. We loved our stay!! Thank you for a delightful visit to Scotland.

  • Allan’s place is really well equipped and very comfortable. The cottage is much larger than it looks in the photos and the upstairs bedroom is a lovely, large and light space which was very restful. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you would need for cooking. Allan was a great host, very welcoming and gave us lots of information about the village, which is lovely with lots of very friendly people. The cottage is also well placed for visiting the cost and tourist spots in East Lothian. The local pub does take out food from its menu which was very good. Overall we had a lovely weekend at the Cottage and hope to be back next year.

  • The cottage had everything we needed, it was clean and tidy en there was milk in the fridge when we got there. We were welcomed and shown around and then got to settle down in a lovely home. It was nice coming here after long days out. Definitely come here if you want to explore but still come home.

    Manon2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • I loved my stay at Allan's cottage in Gifford. The cottage itself had everything I needed - the upstairs bedroom is very spacious and the bed comfy, and the kitchen downstairs was well equipped (mini oven, microwave, hot plate, toaster, kettle). I liked having the seating area and tv as well. Allan had the kettle on for me as I arrived and milk in the fridge for tea, and promptly answered any questions that arose. Gifford is small but absolutely adorable - there is a Co-op food store that covers any basic grocery needs, as well as two pubs (I tried Goblin 'Ha - great food). This is the perfect spot from which to explore the area. Picturesque, cozy and charming. Thank you, Allan!

  • Jill's place is absolutely beautiful. The place was clean and cosy, and there was even coffee and tea. There were some sheep out the front door, one of which was a total sweetheart that would hang his head over the fence until I came up to pet him. The landscape was beautiful, and the town nearby was as well. Short cab ride in and if you're feeling up to it, a very pretty walk along the highway since the ditches aren't uneven. Jill was a lovely host. Very friendly and welcoming, and she even drove us into town so we could catch the bus to our next destination. I will definitely be looking to see if this place is free again next time I'm in Scotland! I know my mum would love it here.

  • This was my second visit in Haddington, so. of course, I booked a room at Hannah's place where I had stayed before. Hannah is such a welcoming and friendly host, and you feel instantly at home in her quiet house full of sunshine. The room is very comfortable, bright and spacious, and you eat breakfast in the kitchen overlooking a lovely garden. Haddington centre is within a walking distance, and it's only a very short walk to a nearest bus stop to Edinburgh. Hannah's place really feels a "home away from home"!

  • We were a group of 8 friends and our stay here was absolutely brilliant. Trudi was really easy to communicate with and the value for money was incredible. The house was exactly as pictured and sparkling clean, with a really beautiful interior. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and appliances. On the first night there was an issue with the boiler and Trudi came to let us know and to drop off extra wood for the fire to ensure we weren’t cold! She was also very accommodating, and let us check at later on the last day of our stay. I would highly recommend this Airbnb!!

  • We had a wonderful stay at Linda's place with our 16 month old baby. The check in process was easy and the place was clean, child friendly, warm and cosy - all important when traveling with a little one. We were so happy that Linda had left a baby bed, playmat, high chair and a little bath with baby shampoos and soaps for us. It was great to not have to travel with all those extras. We will definitively come back and stay at the cottage again. We warmly recommend it to anyone. Thank you Linda for a great stay.

  • Painter's Cottage is a wonderful, cozy and well-equipped two bedroom cottage right in the center of lovely Haddington. We loved the fact that you could walk right around the corner, through a small "close" and be on the high street in less than a minute. The cottage is private, with parking, a courtyard and a lovely conservatory. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. Linda was always very quick to respond to all our inquiries. • Chalet 2 is a great place to stay. Fabulous views, with pet sheep, chickens and horses roaming around. Super comfy bed, WiFi that has good connection, which I needed for work. Hospitality was great-very welcoming and helpful. If it’s work or a bit of R&R, this is the place to be.

  • Lovely place for families and the farm view so close, when we wake up in the morning is so nice and relaxing!

  • Highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a peaceful stay. Our lodge was very clean and was very pleased to see some coffee so we could relax with a cuppa before unpacking.

  • We had such a lovely stay, the farm is beautiful and we couldn't have asked for more accommodating hosts. Highly recommended!

  • Wow!!! This is an awesome place to stay! No2 chalet was perfect in every way... the views, the sheep, the beds (very comfy!!!), the little added extras like proper coffee etc.... The location is great too - I was visiting friends in Haddington and travelling up from North East England and the location was perfect for both! We were given great advice about what to do and where to eat in Haddington by Jill’s husband - and we followed his advice and it was great! This was my first Airbnb booking and it’s given me great confidence to book again! Thanks Jill - the kids have already said they want to come back!!!

    Jane2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Easy check-in process and a very nice place to stay. Our little one loved the animals right outside our door. The chickens wished him a happy birthday in the morning! We had an amazing time and the surrounding area is absolute beautiful. Close driving distance to the coastal towns and Edinburgh. Thank you Jill!

    Nicole2019-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Nice and relaxing stay close to Edinburgh. Enjoyable view over the fields of east lothian.

    Jan2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • The Orchard house was the perfect stY for us! We wanted to stay in a quiet, pretty place away from the hustle and bustle which is exactly what it was! The view was beautiful and the horses, lambs and hens on the property made it even better! Comfy bed and cute little kitchen with everything needed! Very friendly and responsive hosts!

  • Absolutely loved our stay in the Bus! Definitely a unique experience but didn’t compromise on comfort and had everything we could’ve needed! Elaine, Balfour and Sandy provided all information and supplemental support we needed for a wonderful trip. We were even treated to a local fireworks display in the Hot tub!

    Anja2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Prefect getaway! The photos do not give this place justice it’s so remote with lovely views, great local walks and everything you’ll need inside. The farm was so clean and tidy and they have 2 beautiful cats roaming about, meow. Inside the bus was bigger and had more than we thought, the larder was a great touch, which came in so handy! 10/10 would recommend and would come back :) Thank you guys for hosting!

  • A truly wonderful stay for my husband's birthday, can't recommend this wonderful bus enough!

    Sophie2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • We couldn't recommend our short stay at the blue bus more. The well designed and stylish space was maximised and one of a kind. The hot tub and garden space was perfect for a long evening of relaxing. Balfour was a fantastic host, he was on hand from checkout onwards. The info left for us on the bus was very useful and we used a few of the recommendations over our two nights.

    Shane2019-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay here was amazing! The views were fantastic and the bus was super clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. There was even milk, tea, coffee and sugar which is amazing!! Bus 1 comes with a fully fitted kitchen with all the utensils you could possibly need. Also there is a chicken coop near the buses where you can go and pick freshly laid eggs. The hosts were helpful and we knew they were around if we were ever to need anything. The buses are so private and have bushes in between each one so you have lots of privacy. We will definitely be back :) Jade and Craig!

    Jade2019-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Don’t think about booking it, just book it. You will not be disappointed! The bus is very special and is the perfect get away to unwind. It is lovely and cosy and the hot tub is a fantastic touch. Bed is super comfy! So comfy I’m trying to find one for myself now! Sandy was the perfect host, we didn’t want to leave! Thank you again guys :-)

    Liam2019-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • I booked a 2 night stay in the blue bus as a surprise for my boyfriends birthday. From booking communication with the hosts Balfour and Elaine was fantastic. We arrived and were shown around by Balfour and he explained everything we needed to know. He gave us some suggestions of things to do and places to go since we had never been to the area before. We did go on a couple of these walks and visited Gifford for food and had an afternoon in North Berwick so thank you for the suggestions! It was also lovely to just sit on the decking and enjoy the view. It really is a gem of a place! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and you can really see the work that goes into everything from the wooden hot tubs and buses to the larder and chickens bus! I would love to come back again but I would stay for longer next time. I highly recommend a stay at the bus stop and I will be telling anyone I know that is looking for a cabin style get away. Thank you again :)

Our peaceful cottage is located at the bottom of our garden, reached by a private lane less than 200 yards from the centre of Haddington. Haddington is a historic market town 20 miles east of Edinburgh and has good public transport to the city. Located in East Lothian and 20 minutes drive to the many beaches and golf courses. There are several restaurants, pubs and coffee shops within an easy stroll. The cottage is self-contained with private parking in a relaxed, quiet setting.
Quiet location but near town centre and all amenities very close by. Park, Sports Centre, tennis courts all within a few hundred yards. Lovely river walk and historic St Mary's church to explore. Our accommodation provides a large bright upstairs studio room overlooking the garden. We have a king-sized bed and a double-sized bed settee in this space. Downstairs, we have the shower room and kitchen with access to garden. It can be cosy in the colder months and fresh and airy for Spring and Summer. Our price per night is based on two adults with an extra small charge for any guests over that number. This does not apply to children under 12 years of age and so when you book via Airbnb, please just book for two adults and there will be no extra charge. You can advise me independently so we can cater for the children as appropriate. Many thanks.
I love the fact that we are located down a quiet private lane but still in the very heart of our small town centre.
  • Couldn't be in a more convenient location within the town. Great to walk anywhere, very quickly. The amenities are perfect for 2, with a wonderful towel warmer and hot shower!

  • Superb stay! The bus is really something that took enormous vision and guts to put together. Everything was thought through perfectly, the finishing very nicely done, the bed really comfortable (the first in a month worth of stays at various places). The bed under the star gazing glass ceiling could accommodate all four of us while we lounged and enjoyed the terrific views of the hill and skies. The hot tub was an excellent addition, profiding warm comfort outside in the Scottish weather while listening to the owls at night and looking at the stunning views at daytime. the fresh eggs from the chicken-bus were the tastiest ever. So happy to have included the bus stop in our tour!

    Gwen2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fun place to stay. From the moment we arrived (to a waiting Balfour) to checking out and meeting the lovely Elaine, we were made to feel welcome. This place is a hidden gem and just a bit different. Quirky awesomeness !!!! The luxury bus (green for us this time) was so well laid out. Amazing bed with the sky views, bunk beds were also fun and comfy, wood burning fire and hot tub, fantastic use of a small space to have a wonderful rainfall shower and the views were amazing !!!! First time here but will be back to explore more again and again.

    Lynds2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning setting, the bus was immaculate and had everything you could need and so well thought out. The hot tub was amazing and the kids loved collecting fresh eggs from the chickens.

  • We left the Bus Stop this morning after a 2 night stay and haven’t been able to stop raving about it! We were honestly blown away with the place - the views, the creativity of what has been created, and the luxury feel of the bus and the whole experience. I was so intrigued by the Bus Stop and it exceeded every expectation. As well as being a unique and fun experience, it is also extremely comfortable and every inch of the space has been utilised. The hot tub was bliss, as was the fire of an evening. We stayed on the green bus but also got a sneak preview of the new double decker luxury bus and the rustic buses, and we would stay on any one of them as they are all great. A truly wonderful experience - do not hesitate to book! We will be back x

    Gemma2019-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic time staying on the green bus, our 2 kids also had a ball. We can’t wait to go back!

    Charly2019-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for providing us with the amazing experience staying in the green bus. We absolutely loved our weekend. The luxury accommodation on a working farm with such beautiful views was the perfect way to relax. The facilities in the bus were great and the addition of the breakfast basket and special birthday surprise of flowers, chocolate and champagne was a lovely touch. I’d recommend The Bus Stop to everyone and anyone wanting to try something different.

  • Balfour’s bus is amazing - the wood-fuelled hot tub is great and a great place to see the stars from. The bus is stylish and comfy with enough space for four adults. • We stayed at the muckle snug with our two young children and had the most amazing time. Andrew was really quick to reply to questions prior to the stay and was around when we needed him throughout our stay and was super helpful. The place itself is so peaceful and had everything we needed as a family of four. The location was perfect - close to some gorgeous villages with shops, cafes, pubs as well as castles and beaches (north Berwick a 20 min drive). We went in to Edinburgh for the day which was so easy to do on the train just 15 mins away with free parking. There were toys in the cottage which our children loved as well as the lovely outside space. Thank you Andrew, we will definitely be back.

  • The Muckle Snug is a really lovely spot. We rented it for my parents- and sister-in-law when they came to visit and all three were comfortable and warm over a chilly few days. You'll find everything you need and the cosy wood burning stove was a very welcome addition. There's a deck and small garden that would be fantastic in summer. The location is definitely rural but suited us perfectly - you will need a car to get around. Andrew is a great host who greeted everyone on arrival and I'm sure he'd be happy to help with anything you needed during your stay. Highly recommended.

  • A must visit. Superb cottage, great amenities, clean, great homely touches in every room. Suited us perfectly as bedroom and bathroom downstairs for elderly parents whilst we had our own facilities upstairs. Will definitely stay again.

Welcome to our cozy, 18th century, single-story cottage with woodburning stove, dog-proof garden, lots of privacy and free parking. With easy access to the amenities of a town as well as the beautiful East Lothian countryside, this is the perfect place to get away from it all for a few days. Or if you are in the area for longer and are looking for a homely base that's a commutable distance from Edinburgh, this might be right up your street!
Make yourself at home! The cottage has two bedrooms, a sitting room and a kitchen. Outside there's a bright patio, a large garden and private parking. The rooms are small but the place is well set out and comfortable. Perfect for a weekend getaway or perhaps a longer let for someone working nearby.
Haddington is a charming little market town with a real mixture of people. It's very friendly and laid back.
  • Great in every way. Good location, cosy cottage, dog friendly with absolute privacy. This is our second time staying and hopefully won’t be our last!
