  • We thoroughly enjoyed our family weekend at Woodturners Cottage. The Cottage was very well equipped and spacious. We enjoyed Dunbar beach and the John Muir Country Park and his birthplace. We also enjoyed a concert in Edinburgh on Saturday night, it was great to be within reach of the city and the coast. We would definitely recommend the cottage thank you very much Jackie.

  • Cottage is very spacious and included lots of extra bits such as a dishwasher, washer, and mooing cows. Lovely fireplace, fully equipped kitchen, and fresh air. Highly recommend.

  • Lovely spacious accommodation. Good location for being out in the country, but close enough to get to Edinburgh.

  • We loved staying at your home on the farm. It was so fun to play games as a family in the spacious living area and the wood burning stove with freshly cut wood. Simon was willing to refill our basket of wood as needed. It was so convenient to have two full baths. It was such a treat to wake up to seeing the baby cows through the bedroom skylights. (No farm smell or annoying animal noises!) We loved the charming downtown of Gifford. Great meal at the Goblin Ha Hotel/restaurant. The drive to Edinburgh was easy each day. It was nice to be staying outside of the city. So relaxing and a fabulous place to unwind. The kitchen is fully equipped to cook up all of your meals. Thank you for your quick responsiveness to the hot water heater problem. You were always quick to respond. We loved our stay!! Thank you for a delightful visit to Scotland.

The Maltings, Haddington is a converted mill building next to the river Tyne in beautiful East Lothian. My flat is on the ground floor so it is good for wheelchair access. There is a designated parking space in the car park. Haddington has some great shops, bars and restaurants. Edingburgh is 30 minutes by car, 45 minutes away by bus, or there is a train station at Drem close by. East lothian is great for cycling, walking or immersing yourself in our many varied ancient monuments & castles.
Guests have access to the kitchen, lounge diner and their own private bathroom
Haddington is an ancient market town. It has some terrific cycle routes with excellent coffee and cake stops along the routes.
  • James is very friendly and on-the-ball with communications. His flat is sparkling clean, with all conveniences. The location in Haddington is also very lovely. Recommended.

  • I have stayed at James’s place about 5 times spending 2 to 3 nights each time I went to work in Haddington. I must say that James is such a wonderful host. Beautiful flat with everything in it tastefully selected and well arranged. Sparkling bathroom, well equipped kitchen and spacious double bedroom. To cap it up, this accommodation is in a very serene location.

    Ann2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed just one night with James as a stopover after a Christmas getogether with friends locally. James was warm & welcoming on our arrival, inviting us to have coffee and chat in his living room. We exchanged our stories of being Airbnb hosts and conversation flowed with ease. The room was very comfortable and we had exclusive use of the bathroom opposite. All the living spaces were spotlessly clean. James very kindly made some super-healthy fresh fruit & vegetable juice in the morning and we were encouraged to have some cereal too. James has a beautiful apartment and is enjoying the experience of being a relatively new Airbnb host. I would most certainly recommend his place as a convenient place to explore Haddington & East Lothian from.

  • You will get a warm welcome, comfortable room, private bathroom and a lovely breakfast

    Brian2019-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • James is one of the few Airbnb hosts who would deserve 6 stars. His hospitality is outstanding. He is very friendly and we had a great conversation. I had been cycling from London to Edinburgh and James' place was the last stop. What luck and coincidence it was that James is a fellow cyclist and with a lot more experience. He cycled with me for the last 35 km of my journey and shared a delicious lunch in Musselburgh.

  • We were a group of 8 friends and our stay here was absolutely brilliant. Trudi was really easy to communicate with and the value for money was incredible. The house was exactly as pictured and sparkling clean, with a really beautiful interior. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and appliances. On the first night there was an issue with the boiler and Trudi came to let us know and to drop off extra wood for the fire to ensure we weren’t cold! She was also very accommodating, and let us check at later on the last day of our stay. I would highly recommend this Airbnb!!

  • We had a fabulous stay in Gifford. The flat was very comfortable and suited our needs perfectly - parent and two young boys. Location perfect for us - visiting friends and family across the Borders.

    Carol2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Bryan and Ann were very responsive before the booking and throughout the stay. The flat had everything you need for a few days away from home, full of lovely little attentions (milk and chocolate in the fridge, take away and nearby pubs menu). My partner stayed there for a week while attending The chippendale international school of furniture which was about 20 minutes walk from the flat. A lovely and convenient place to stay in Gifford!

    Sophie2019-09-20T00:00:00Z

  • The Old Post Office was the perfect base for us for a family wedding. It is cosy, comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. We loved the highland themed soft furnishings. We were able to eat just over the road at the Goblin Ha where the staff were extremely welcoming. The coffee shop opposite was excellent too. Gifford itself is a delightful historic village.

    Chrissie2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely weekend with my son in the Post Office flat. It was nicer than the pictures and had everything we needed for a short stay to visit family. I would certainly book it again. Gifford is a lovely little village and very quiet but not too far from all the sights in East Lothian and Edinburgh.

    Lynne2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Real nice and comfortable appartment in the center of a nice small village. Two pubs within 50 mtrs and a coffeebar. Everything you need in the kitchen, bathroom, living and bedrooms are present.

    Walter2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Cute place with a perfect location in the center of Gifford.

    Stuart2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • A brilliant, well appointed flat, a great base for travelling around Lothian and Edinburgh, very clean, great Wi-fi and pretty much all you could need. The 2 pubs in the village are ok but maybe a little pricey, the co-op is just two mins up the road and is a god send for all those little bits you need. There is loads to do around the area. We had a brilliant time.

A warm welcome awaits you to our newly refurbished cottage, finished to a high standard with comfort at the forefront of our new venture. Located in the heart of tranquil East lothian countryside with breathtaking panoramic views on the doorstep.
  • Absolutely idyllic location, this cottage was absolutely perfect for our week's stay in East Lothian. Michelle is an excellent host - attentive and communicative, who has created a homey and welcoming space. Highly recommend!

    Emilia2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle is a great host. Always quick to reply to messages and goes the extra mile to make you feel welcome. The house is lovely, the photos do not do it justice. It is well located with easy reach to local villages / towns and 40 minutes drive from Edinburgh. Close to the beach which provided us with some lovely dog walks. We are looking forward to staying again in the near future.

    Melody2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent hospitality and a lovely cottage.

    Emily2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cottage in a lovely location. Perfect for visiting Edinburgh and the surrounding areas. We had our dogs with us so went around all the local beaches and also visited North Berwick. We would recommend going to the John Muir Alpacas if you stay at the cottage, it’s only 5 minutes away. Michelle was a super host and the warm banana loaf on arrival went down a treat 😊 The cottage has everything you need and very clean and spacious. We will be back again.

    Adrian2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle met us with the keys and showed us around. The mix of old, but very well kept was absolutely perfect in keeping with the period of the building and plenty of room for the 5 of us. The cottage view, location, cleanliness was just absolutely perfect. Add the touches like milk, strawberries & banana loaf and in truth, we were sad to leave, but we certainly promise to be back. Perfect for a couple or a family. Whether you want a quiet time away from everyone and everything or explore the many spectacular locations in East Lothian itself or a handy location for the A1 to Edinburgh & Berwick. Anyway, I’m not saying anymore, or it will be fully booked when I want it next time!

  • We enjoyed our stay at Traprain Cottage. It was a nice location for us to day trip to Edinburgh one day and Stirling the next. Lovely quaint little cottage with horses behind the stone walled yard and working farm across the road. Beds were comfortable and the cottage was super clean. Michelle was so sweet and the fresh baked banana bead was an amazing treat.

  • We had such a great experience at your lovely cottage, thank you Michelle! Everything from interior to local surroundings were just amazing! Thanks also for the fresh banana loaf, we all loved it! Will hopefully get back to North Berwick one day and if course, Traprain.

  • What a lovely stay we have had! Beautiful, clean and super comfortable cottage really well located to either get into Edinburgh or to explore the beautiful local surroundings. • Lovely cottage in an beautiful location. It was spotless and well equipped (kitchen and washing area). Very cosy, especially with the open fire. Fascinating history about the surrounding area (in the welcome folder). Lots of space around the back of the cottage for the kids to run around and a pretty and well kept garden to the front. We would love to book again in the warmer months. The host is very quick at responding to messages, and was extremely helpful.

  • Rhona's place is wonderful. East Lothian is a magical part of the world, and especially the area around East Linton and Haddington where Rhona's cottage is situated. Everything was perfect. The cottage is equipped with all you need for a perfect holiday. From the basics like soap and shampoo to washing powder and salt, sugar, tea, etc. The fire was the absolute highlight of our stay. The TV worked perfectly well as did the wifi. The phone connection was not good, but we didn't miss it one single bit. The furniture was lovely, and the small library with old books and games came in very handy. My family and I had the best holiday ever. We will definitely come back to stay here. Thank you very much for everything.

  • It’s a lovely interesting and quirky place to stay. Well located for Edinburgh and East Lothian. Grocery stores are easy to get to. Well worth a stay the night sky is amazing due to the lack of light pollution. Try and arrive on the road from East Linton as it’s a lot wider and easier than other ways.

  • We stayed at the muckle snug with our two young children and had the most amazing time. Andrew was really quick to reply to questions prior to the stay and was around when we needed him throughout our stay and was super helpful. The place itself is so peaceful and had everything we needed as a family of four. The location was perfect - close to some gorgeous villages with shops, cafes, pubs as well as castles and beaches (north Berwick a 20 min drive). We went in to Edinburgh for the day which was so easy to do on the train just 15 mins away with free parking. There were toys in the cottage which our children loved as well as the lovely outside space. Thank you Andrew, we will definitely be back.

  • The Muckle Snug is a really lovely spot. We rented it for my parents- and sister-in-law when they came to visit and all three were comfortable and warm over a chilly few days. You'll find everything you need and the cosy wood burning stove was a very welcome addition. There's a deck and small garden that would be fantastic in summer. The location is definitely rural but suited us perfectly - you will need a car to get around. Andrew is a great host who greeted everyone on arrival and I'm sure he'd be happy to help with anything you needed during your stay. Highly recommended.

  • Erica's place is a lovely place to stay. Close enough to two villages but far enough away in the countryside. Very quite, clean and cosy place to stay. Danny was a great host, met us when we arrived and showed us around. The chickens eggs were fantastic, best I've ever tasted, you can definitely tell they are happy chickens. Great place if you want a few days in the quiet with lovely local walks.

  • Located within the beautiful East Lothian countryside half a dozen miles from three historic towns and close to the most glorious beaches in Scotland. A great family location with special additions, geese, hens and sheep, not forgetting my organic alarm clock, the cockerel. Bring your all terrain bikes and enjoy the numerous tracks which lead to the beaches, and North Berwick Law which allows to have a panoramic view, worth the climb. Served with nearby rail stations, shops and Macdonald's for the kids. My favourite view the Orchard facing on to Tynnihame village.

  • Our stay at The Little Blue House was perfect. The house is beautifully decorated and is so cosy and welcoming. It was gale force winds during our whole stay and the house was perfect for sheltering from the storm, curled up on the sofa with a book and the log burner on. Also one of the best equipped kitchens in an Airbnb we’ve ever had! We will definitely be back for another weekend getaway. Thanks Erica!

    Bethan2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning property with outstanding views! The perfect getaway weekend despite the weather. Easy transport into Edinburgh. Would 100% recommend and would love to return!

    Zoe2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at the little blue house! The views and location were awsome and Erica had provided everything we could possibly need in the house, it was nice and toasty in the evenings with the wood burner on :)

    Davina2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time at Erica’s blue cabin. Everything was perfect and spotless. Location is great - really close to some of the best beaches in east Lothian (Tyninghame and Seacliff) and plenty more to do in the surrounding areas (specially for kids - east links farm, arch field walled gardens and swimming facilities at Dunbar are very close by). Plenty of walks nearby the cabin and north berrick offers dining options and great local coffee roaster steampunk. It’s helpful to have a car. Inside, the cabin was perfect, had everything you need and we enjoyed nights by the fire. Brilliant place to stay, in any season.

    Renata2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Erica's house is just beautiful. It is the perfect escape from busy city life. The little house has lovely views of the countryside and is only a 10 min drive from North Berwick. Erica left us fresh eggs and bread for breakfast which we really appreciated. We have a lovely relaxing weekend.

    Katie2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Loved staying in Erica’s beautiful little cabin - it was perfect, so peaceful and in such a lovely location. We enjoyed walking to the beach (45 mins or an 8 min drive, each way) and making the short trips to East Linton, North Berwick and Tantallon Castle, all easy to reach by the 120 bus that passes through the village. The cabin was warm and cosy (we didn’t need the log fire at this time of year but great to have the option), had everything we needed, and the fresh bread and eggs were very much appreciated too! 10/10 recommend!

  • The Lammermuir Loft is a great place to stay with awesome views and all the facilities needed for a single or a couple. It is well-appointed and was spotlessly clean. It is quite isolated but Gifford is only a couple of miles away for basic amenities, and Haddington just another few miles for a broader choice.

Restored listed stone cottage set in private walled courtyard in centre of the bustling market town of Haddington in East Lothian. The magnificent festival city of Edinburgh is 20 miles away as are beautiful award winning golden beaches.
  • We had a wonderful stay at Linda's place with our 16 month old baby. The check in process was easy and the place was clean, child friendly, warm and cosy - all important when traveling with a little one. We were so happy that Linda had left a baby bed, playmat, high chair and a little bath with baby shampoos and soaps for us. It was great to not have to travel with all those extras. We will definitively come back and stay at the cottage again. We warmly recommend it to anyone. Thank you Linda for a great stay.

  • A central location with lots of sunshine. Spic and span and comfortable beds. Warm and cosy. Lovely clean kitchen with everything we needed. Like a home away from home.

  • Painter's Cottage is a wonderful, cozy and well-equipped two bedroom cottage right in the center of lovely Haddington. We loved the fact that you could walk right around the corner, through a small "close" and be on the high street in less than a minute. The cottage is private, with parking, a courtyard and a lovely conservatory. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. Linda was always very quick to respond to all our inquiries. She even went above and beyond to help us connect to agents in the area as we searched for properties to rent. Highly recommend!

Basic but cosy & comfortable traditional stone cottage in the heart of a picturesque East Lothian village, 20 miles from Edinburgh & 10 miles from the beaches & golf at Gullane & Muirfield, with two pubs (both serving food), newsagent, farmshop, post office, grocers, local butcher, hairdressers. The easy access to Edinburgh by car or public transport and calm surroundings make this an attractive alternative to staying in the capital, especially in summer when the city is saturated & expensive.
1790s listed cottage. Accommodation is quite basic and not at all luxurious. Small upstairs double bedroom with coombed ceiling (restricted height in areas). Small ground-floor shower-room. Small open-plan kitchen area. Comfortable sitting room with books, TV (with Arte (français), TV5monde and RAI channels), dvd, wifi. No garden. It is in a conservation area and one of the oldest dwelling houses in the village so might suit those seeking something a bit different, but those wanting luxurious surroundings and finishes should look elsewhere. A third guest can be accommodated on a blow-up mattress in the sitting room (open-plan with eating area, kitchen and hall).
Close to village centre with its two pubs, newsagent, post office, farm shop, grocery shops, local butcher and hairdressers. Both pubs serve food and are equidistant at two minutes' walk. Riverside walks from the door (not suitable for young children or infirm due to steep unprotected drops in places). Walks from the door can easily be extended to take in Traprain Law hill from where there are great views of the village and the surrounding countryside. East Lothian's sandy beaches and world-class golf links are within 20 minutes' drive. The village is on the John Muir way. A bus service to Edinburgh stops 1 minute's walk from house (50 minutes to Princes Street). The county town of Haddington and coastal resorts of North Berwick and Dunbar are easily accessible.
  • Second stay at Andrew .... housing always on top !! The kitchen fittings are now finished, which makes it very functional and pleasant to use. The bus frequency for Edinburgh has been doubled.Access to the city center is fast and efficient: the advantages of the city with the calm of the countryside !! Excellent communication with Andrew during the stay I highly recommend

    Jacques2018-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • 6 stars: top !! Quiet cottage, full of charm and ideally located in a typical village very close to Edinburgh: a bus stop at 50 meters allows direct and quick access to the city center. The interior is very cozy, functional and tastefully decorated. Andrew is a welcoming host, considerate and attentive. Cherry on the cake, his French is impeccable! I recommend without hesitation.

Our peaceful cottage is located at the bottom of our garden, reached by a private lane less than 200 yards from the centre of Haddington. Haddington is a historic market town 20 miles east of Edinburgh and has good public transport to the city. Located in East Lothian and 20 minutes drive to the many beaches and golf courses. There are several restaurants, pubs and coffee shops within an easy stroll. The cottage is self-contained with private parking in a relaxed, quiet setting.
Quiet location but near town centre and all amenities very close by. Park, Sports Centre, tennis courts all within a few hundred yards. Lovely river walk and historic St Mary's church to explore. Our accommodation provides a large bright upstairs studio room overlooking the garden. We have a king-sized bed and a double-sized bed settee in this space. Downstairs, we have the shower room and kitchen with access to garden. It can be cosy in the colder months and fresh and airy for Spring and Summer. Our price per night is based on two adults with an extra small charge for any guests over that number. This does not apply to children under 12 years of age and so when you book via Airbnb, please just book for two adults and there will be no extra charge. You can advise me independently so we can cater for the children as appropriate. Many thanks.
I love the fact that we are located down a quiet private lane but still in the very heart of our small town centre.

  • Lovely wee house in the country side. Perfect for the family get together we had. Big kitchen to cook and bake, the house had more than enough space for us all and plentiful parking. We had a wee toddler with us who could sleep in peace at the other end of the house whilst we socialised are the other. It was hectic weather when we stayed but the house is very cosy and comfy. Very convenient for getting to Edinburgh, train station is not far at all and had plenty of parking at the station as well. North Berwick is beautiful for a walk and the wee town of Haddington is about the same distance away for rainy day stuff as well. Rebecca is quick to reply and has local knowledge to spare as well so we never felt stuck. Check in and out was easy. Would love to stay again.

  • A must visit. Superb cottage, great amenities, clean, great homely touches in every room. Suited us perfectly as bedroom and bathroom downstairs for elderly parents whilst we had our own facilities upstairs. Will definitely stay again.

Set in the beautiful rolling East Lothian countryside, Middle Cottage is a traditional stone built property furnished to a high standard. This home from home provides cosy, comfortable accommodation and all the facilities needed for a relaxing break
Private, detached cottage with private garden and driveway.
Middle Cottage is situated in the hamlet of Markle, a small group of converted farm worker's cottages and farm buildings approximately 1 mile west of the village of East Linton. A short walk along the right of way or an easy drive takes you down into the High Street, where you will find a small selection of shops - the award winning butchers comes highly recommended, as do the two pubs, The Crown and Kitchen and The Linton Hotel. Both hostelries offer lunch and dinner menus. The Deli and Co-op provide all the other necessities.
  • Jan's cottage was a perfect stay, even better than the photos! We visited over new year and not only was the cottage perfect for relaxing and in a great location but Jan was a really helpful host offering directions and tips for getting to the town. Would definitely stay again.

  • Lovely cottage! We had such a lovely experience. It makes it better when the cottage is immaculate. Hosts were lovely and we would come again! :)

  • We had such a lovely Stay here, The cottage was even better than expected! It was super comfy, cosy and beautifully clean.. we really couldn’t have asked for more. There were so many beautiful touches throughout the house, we just relaxed and enjoyed the holiday. My wife and I visited with two young kids and there were plenty of games and books to keep us entertained. Great location near North Berwick (which is a fantastic town!). We’d love to come back again, and most likely will!

  • This is a lovely cottage in a beautiful part of Scotland. It was clean, cosy, beautifully decorated and well looked after. Jan and her husband were on hand if needed and there were little touches throughout the cottage which showed that they really care about their guests experience. We enjoyed our 2 night stay here and would certainly return for another relaxing break.

  • Middle Cottage at Markle is a fabulous place to stay if you are wanting a well located place to explore East Lothian. The presentation of the cottage and its facilities is first class. Real chocolate box stuff. My wife, son and I spent a week here and would gladly go back again should the situation arise. Can not recommend this accommodation highly enough. Jan and Bryan are great host and communicated well with us through out the whole process.

  • We stayed at Middle Cottage this week for our honeymoon and have had the most amazing time! The cottage is so beautiful and in the perfect location- tucked just outside the village in such a peaceful spot but just 10 minute drives from beaches and attractions. Jan messaged me before our stay with all the necessary information and welcomed us on arrival. The cottage is beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. The bed was so comfortable and we slept like logs. We took our 11 month old with us and it was so handy to have a cot, high chair and bath provided for him. Thank you so much Jan and Bryan for having us stay in your wonderful cottage, we would recommend to anyone!
