  • Quiet, serene place! Close to wineries!

    Darlene2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful bedroom/living room/kitchenette/private bathroom. Amy & Ed left out oatmeal, granola bars, and coffee which was a nice touch. TV has smart hub so if you have Netflix, Hulu etc you can watch and there's an hdmi cord for streaming from your laptop. Decor was very nice, bed was cozy, whole place was clean. The one thing that kind of irked me was the instructions to strip the bed and empty the trashcan while also being charged a cleaning fee. I don't have a problem doing that stuff but I'd rather not pay $14 if I'm going to the hosts' work for them. Anyway, all in all a great stay. Thanks Amy & Ed!

A quiet neighborhood amid estates & farms. Frog Jump is remote, peaceful and tranquil.
  • This space is lovely! The area is beautiful, and Gail was wonderfully communicative to make sure the cottage was easy to find and access. It’s just enough space for one or two people, with all the comforts of home and then some. It was spotlessly clean and well appointed with a super comfy bed! I hope to be able to return!

    Jessica2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is so lovely, clean, bright, and homey! The location is great - close to Charlottesville and Shenandoah. Gail is an attentive and caring host, and has added thoughtful little touches all over the cottage. We had a very restful stay and highly recommend this house!

  • Frog Jump is such a cozy little spot for anyone wanting some time to themselves to relax. The property is great and in a great spot just on the other side of Charlottesville Airport. It’s only a 15 min drive to Charlottesville and a lovely drive in itself! The bed was even one of the comfiest I’ve ever slept in. Highly recommend!

    Amy2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing stay. Wonderful location, beautiful space, incredibly thoughtful host. I would absolutely LOVE to come stay again!

    Joshua2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is by far the most thoughtful and truly wonderful Airbnb I’ve stayed in. It’s obvious that Gail put a ton of thought into the space, from the toiletries to the items in the fridge (cream for coffee, various condiments). The bed was cozy and comfy, water is nice and hot, the view from the porch and bed are serene, and we adored the chairs by the pond. It’s a perfect retreat in the woods without having to camp!

    Tara2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is beautiful, cozy, clean and just the perfect size. Gail graciously left us some muffins that we enjoyed with coffee while overlooking the beautiful swans in the pond. The setting was just perfect - a very relaxing, quiet and private woodsy area. We also appreciate all the little extras that she provides, like makeup remover wipes, a great selection of coffee and tea, and suggestions of what to do in the area. We definitely plan to stay here again if we happen to be in the area and we also recommend it to everyone!

    Alex2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Gail's cottage is an oasis in the Virginia countryside. If you are looking for nature, you will find it here !The cottage is small, but very well appointed. There are many amenities outside that we were sorry that we could not enjoy because of the weather.Gail responded quickly to our questions, and left delicious treats for us .We LOVE Virginia ,and this property has it all.

Built in 1910, this unique cottage was originally a country doctor's office, Dr. W.A. Kyger's . He lived in the our farmhouse next door. We have found Indian arrow heads in the yard which is littered with Quartz.
Located in the heart of Virginia wine country. You will be enchanted by the views and countryside as you drive around the area. We have an incredible location with Charlottesville 9 miles in one direction, Crozet 11 miles in another direction and the airport/Earlysville area 9 miles in yet another direction. You can get to the entrance of Shenandoah National Park in 34 minutes (23 miles) or be hiking at Humpback Rocks on the Blue Ridge Parkway in 42 minutes (29 miles). Our location is excellent! There is a one room post office, a unique country store* (closed on Sunday) and family doctors office all walking distance. *Get a Free Union T-shirt or a Free Union (FU) Sticker.
  • My friends and I stayed at Mark and Mary’s place this past weekend to do some hiking in Shenandoah and visit the local wineries. It is a cozy cottage and the hosts were extremely hospitable. We really enjoyed our stay in Free Union.

    Tanya2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Mark's place was a pleasant surprise! It's quaint, quiet, comfortable, and was perfect for our weekend getaway. They provided us with plenty of amenities for our pup and were super accommodating to our needs. Mark was super responsive and was really nice to meet in person. We would love to stay here again when we're back at shenandoah!

  • Mark and Scott (Mary)'s cottage is wonderful! Whimsical, fully stocked with everything you could need and just fun! We especially appreciated the very detailed description of where everything was located in the house manual. And we also appreciated we could bring our dog with us on the trip. We will be back!

  • Nice quiet place to stay while I was in the area for a class. Loved my horse neighbors.

    Stacey2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing views and a relaxing retreat. Be aware it’s very rural. A long dirt road takes you to the cottage and cell service may be spotty. I had a great stay and found the farm to be the perfect place away from the city.

    Eileen2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • This was a perfect get away! Great hospitality and they went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed!

    Raven2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place was a hidden gem! George and Michaela have lots of thoughtful touches. The location was very close to the mountains and had great views. We loved the wood burning stove and the dog welcome crew. Would definitely stay here again!

    Peyton2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • George and Michaela’s place is amazing. Their property is beautiful and nestled in the gorgeous mountains. Great communication and hospitality, they welcomed me (along with their adorable pups) when I arrived and made me feel welcome. Also gave me good tips for the best local food and coffee. Definitely recommend if you’re in the Charlottesville area and are looking for some peace outside of the city.

  • Wonderful remote farm, and so quiet and peaceful. A great place to get away and relax, very nice place.

    Jack2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • I had a very productive few days on George and Michaela's beautiful farm.

    Matthew2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is very cozy but has plenty of room for a romantic get away. It’s a little far from Charlottesville, but if you enjoy a scenic view of the blue ridge mountains, you can’t beat it. My husband and I really enjoyed the privacy and were able to shut ourselves inside or go out and venture the nearby sites. It really made for a spectacular long weekend away from city life.

  • Bianca's suite lies on their spacious property about 10-15 minutes from Charlottesville. It is cozy and very comfortable, perfect for a couple or two friends. Bianca greeted me and my wife upon arrival to show us the space. She is so kind and hospitable, with exceptional attention to detail! Light breakfast, coffee, and snacks were provided, which were great supplements for us. Highly recommended! When we go back to Charlottesville, we will stay here again.

    Christian2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Bianca's house is very neat, clean, and the location is very convenient. The people of Bianca are very nice, warm and attentive. There is no cooker hood in the kitchen and there is an induction cooker for cooking.

  • Bianca, her husband Tom, and their furry daughter Ullabelle are wonderful hosts. The stay was very comfortable and homey with many thoughtful touches. Very highly recommended!

    Susan2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Bianca's home is a magical oasis. She is so warm and hospitable and every room is absolutely sparkling clean. She welcomed my friend I, as soon as we arrived, full of warmth and life. The attention to detail and organization inside the guest suite, helped ease my Virgo anxieties. Every question or concern was answered with a prompt and timely response. The surrounding property is well maintained and just as magical as the suite. You are secluded in nature while not being too far from civilization ( the delicious Bodos Bagels and the word-filled wonderland of Daedalus Bookshop are a must!) Do yourself a favor and book this wonderful residence!

  • Great little cottage get away. Very clean with beautiful furnishings. Bianca met us and showed us around so that we would have everything we needed. Very accommodating! Comfortable bed and fold out futon. Beautiful bathroom and kitchen. Even received a complimentary bottle of wine and croissants. Added bonus of a wonderful golden retriever named Lulabell on the premises. Charming!

  • Charity and Josh offer an amazing stay. The upstairs room and bath are large and comfortable. I work nights and found the room to be very quiet. Their pets stay downstairs and offer endless cuddles and entertainment. My pets really enjoyed their company. Communications with Charity and Josh are seamless. The neighborhood is spacious and offers a small, private lake for quiet walks. I definitely would stay there again.

Fully furnished private apartment in sunny location close to many outdoor activities including hiking, fly fishing, wine tours, horseback riding and mountain biking. Twenty mins to the restaurants and cultural events in Charlottesville and Crozet.
Private, quiet, and comfortable, our apartment provides all that any guest should require. The space is completely self-contained in a separate building with its own private entrance. Please note that this is a studio apartment - there is no separate bedroom. One queen-sized bed. Ideal for two guests.
This is a rural area of wide open spaces and beautiful mountain views. We live on a narrow unpaved road, with the nearest neighbor a quarter mile away. That does not mean there is nothing to do, however - vineyards, hiking trails, fishing streams and other outdoor activities abound. Charlottesville is a quick 20 minute drive, providing access to numerous restaurants, shopping, as well as the University of Virginia and Monticello. Please note that there are very few gas stations or grocery stores of any kind in the immediate area - you must plan accordingly.
  • Amazing quiet getaway! Will be going back!

  • This was our second time spending a weekend at Jonathan and Sybille’s place. The apartment is as cozy as ever and we really enjoy the balance of remoteness and accessibility to Charlottesville and its surroundings. Hopefully we can make it back someday soon.

    Jordan2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time staying. Jonathan and Sibylle reaches out before our trip to warn about the muddy driveway and offered their carport since our vehicle isn't 4WD. It was a lovely stay just like last time and we look forward to returning.

    Anne2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent, clean choice for a farm stay with thoughtful touches. Plenty of room to spread out. It served as a great home base with a one way trip to Shenandoah NP less than an hour. All wheel drive recommended but not required for the “county” road.

    Eric2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking for seclusion this is it! It was a nice place to unwind and get away for a weekend. I plan to visit again where we can visit Shenandoah.

  • Amazing cabin in the woods! Hosts were very friendly and created some wonderful extra touches that were really thoughtful. They raise bees on the property. They had some honey and a bottle of wine waiting for us when we checked in. Cabin was clean, comfortable, and both fireplaces were prepped for lighting when we arrived. I would highly recommend this place. 15 minute drive to downtown, breweries and more!

  • Great location on large secluded property yet close to town. We enjoyed the wine and brandy left for us! Gordon, the owner, stopped by after check in to make sure everything was ok. We wish we made time to see the baby sheep.

  • We had a marvelous time! The quaint feel of the cabin, combined with the romantic seclusion, made for a very special vacation for us. It was also only 15-20 minutes to downtown Charlottesville, which made for the perfect compromise between accessibility and privacy.

    Daniel2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • This place is just amazing and very private, we went there for our 4th anyversary and travel with my 3 dogs, we all had a beautiful stay, got to hike arround the property, enjoy the cabin views, and went to wine tasting just 5 min away from the cabin. We will defently be back in spring, just perfect for my weekend get away. The only regret I have is the my trip should have been longer, but it's ok we will be back in spring!!

This is a rural setting in a "neighborhood" of four homes, each with at least 2 acres. We have a friendly dog, TJ, that wanders around outside during the day and stays in the main house during the evening.
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at Dean’s spot. It was a quick 15 minute drive to everything downtown, but such a beautiful location with rolling hills and a horizon of the blue ridge mountains. The apartment is so spacious and open with a comfy couch and a tv when needed. The backyard is absolutely gorgeous and the company of TJ (the dog) is absolutely amazing - he’s a sweetheart and very respectful. We would love to come back to Dean’s apartment the next time we are in town.

  • We are a family of 5 and the space worked great for us. Our kids also loved Dean’s very friendly dog TJ!

  • Dean was an excellent host! His place was perfect location to UVA where we needed to be for the weekend! The kitchen was perfect for breakfast cooking! Well stocked which made my husband happy! We had plenty of room to move around. We would definitely recommend Deans place for others!

  • Dean’s place was awesome and he was an excellent host! It was very clean and had everything we needed. Dean was very responsive, answering questions right away and quickly gave us information about bicycle paths (we ended up not going, so can’t give a review for how good cycling is in the area). Place was remote and very quiet, while being only a short drive away from things to do. And TJ is very sweet & friendly. Was perfect for a weekend getaway!

  • Dean is quick to respond, the place was extremely clean, and we were very happy with our stay. I would definitely stay here again!

Bright and open studio space that sits on a 2.5 acre parcel and is about 150 feet away from the main house where we live. It is less than 10 minutes to the airport and under 30 minutes to downtown. This space features a full kitchen, one full bath and an open lofted bedroom space with a queen size bed upstairs. The twin beds are placed on the main floor but can easily be moved around. We can only allow a maximum of 2 cars due to limited space on the property.
This space was originally built to be an artist's painting studio. The light quality and amount of natural light in the space is wonderful. Additionally, there are still some paint remnants from its former days as an art studio which add to its unique character and history. Reclaimed wood beams and other decorative salvaged antique elements and furnishings contribute to the cottage's eclectic charm.
Earlysville is a wonderful quaint area just north of Charlottesville. It feels like you are in the country, but has all of the conveninces (grocery, Target, restaurants, wineries, and shopping) nearby. Downtown Charlottesville is under 30 minutes away. There is a general store/gas station conveniently located right across the street, and nearby there is the Mud Dauber pottery studio and shop, the Earlysville Exchange - a local vintage thrift shop, and a farmer's market that sets up at the Buck Mountain Episcopal Church each week. Chisholm Vineyard, one of many nearby vineyards in Charlottesville, is only 5 minutes away and features wonderful live music and food trucks on the weekends. Monticello and Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive are only 30 minutes away.
  • If you’re looking for a peaceful escape, this is the perfect place. We loved everything about it. The huge space was perfect for yoga, and just sitting and reading and gazing out the window. The kitchen had everything we needed to be able to cook the food we bought and spend the entire weekend away from it all. Highly recommend Bridget’s place.

    Leena2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Very artistic and open space, and still conveniently close to the Charlottesville area. Would definitely stay here again, and would recommend to anyone coming to the area!

    Ashley2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place was beautiful to say the least. It was modern and very spacious with wonderful detailing. Bridget was great and left us coffee, tea, and some snacks. About 20 min from downtown Charlottesville and easy to get an uber/lyft. We would absolutely come back here.

    Stephanie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Bridget's guest house is a beautiful space, and a lovely place for sun-lovers like my wife and I. Beautiful in its simplicity, this home is truly one-of-a-kind. Bridget was great at communicating and arranging everything for a seamless entry.

    Jordan & Ingrid2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Bridget’s place is amazing! It’s light filled and very stylish. We loved staying here! Check in was easy and Bridget was incredibly communicative!! Definitely will he staying here again!

  • The loft is super spacious and beautiful! We had a magical weekend 😊 Just a heads up to others: The property is kind of hard to find at night. There are also no curtains on the door or the big window. It wasn’t an issue for us but it got bright really early in the morning.

We have WiFi, with decent speed, and the TV is smart enough to access the internet, where you may use our Netflix account. We do not have cable, but do have mostly good reception of various basic stations. There is a Harmon/Kardon blue tooth speaker, which may be carried out to the roof deck. The kitchenette includes a refrigerator with separate freezer, a Keurig coffee maker, and a microwave. The makings for coffee, tea and what you might put in them are also provided. We raided the Visitors Center, so you have all sorts of area brochures to examine in comfort.
  • Cali and Blaise's space is perfect if you are looking for peace and quiet. Beautiful views. Their cats are very friendly. You will be 20 minutes away from downtown and 30-45 from Nellysford if you are looking for breweries/wineries.

  • Beautiful home and location. The hosts were always there to help with anything if needed, and very friendly!

    Kelly2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • You may never have the chance to stay in a more beautiful home. Handcrafted artistry everywhere you look and all the amenities you could ask for in your private suite. Memory foam bed is so comfy, relaxing mini living room w Netflix, closet kitchenette/coffee bar, and beautiful forest views. A little off the beaten path, yes, but the winding drive from suburbia into quiet nature is lovely and that’s what helps make it a retreat. :-)

    Richard2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Cali and Blaise are amazing hosts! They warmly welcomed us to their Rivanna River Retreat, a lovely, comfortable and quiet space. They took very good care of us during our stay - and I highly recommend the property to anyone looking for a very special place to stay in Charlottesville!

    Janet2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location in a scenic wooded area. 15 minutes from anything you might want to see in Charlottesville. Take time to admire all the furniture created by Blaise. Truely something special.

  • Cali and Blaise are wonderful hosts. Everything was sparkling clean. Prompt response for every request. I would highly recommend this place.

    Varsha Reddy2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • We found Cali and Blaise's place very relaxing - the home is beautiful and set right in the woods, not far from the river. You can go to sleep to the sound of crickets and wake up to birds chirping. Sites like UVA and Monticello are about 30min away. Great hospitality, and restful place for a retreat!

    Andrew2019-05-27T00:00:00Z

  • Just what the doctor ordered for a Mid-February get away. About 20 minutes from Charlottesville Dinner spots. Our two year old flat coated retriever was obsessed with retrieval training in the pond on the property. Jonathan's sheep were the cutest to look at, and Gordon's endless supply of firewood, and mowed paths in the woods allowed for a never ending fire and exploration opportunities!

    Colin2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint and charming with an authentic rustic feel. A wonderful escape from reality. Kind and accommodating owners live in the next cabin over. Beautiful and remote property with sprawling acreage yet still under 30 minutes to all conveniences and an hour to the entrance to Shenandoah. Great home base especially if you are looking to spend a good amount of time in the accommodation, which we were.

    Baz2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cabin in the country - we loved it and our dog did too! Highly recommend, had everything we needed and was clean & tidy. Thanks for a great experience.

    Jess2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • The experience as a whole was exactly what my husband and I needed. The cabin is lovely and charming and the grounds fun to explore. Quiet serenity surrounded us and there were plenty of ways to enjoy it from strolls outside visiting the sheep or walking by the lake, to relaxing on the porch, or sitting by the natural fireplace which was setup and ready to go. Since the property is out in the woods there were several bugs so, it’s good to go in anticipating that but not letting it deter you. Also, the stairs were a bit harrowing so, this is not a good option for someone with mobility issues. Overall great experience though.

    Lavinia2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • This house is LOVELY. My husband and I wanted a chance to get away with our dog, to just breathe. And we found EXACTLY that. Insulated, well air conditioned, comfortable, clean home. There are electric and fire light options. The bathroom is a joy for those who need space or cleanliness, too. It’s spotless and not in an inconvenient place! The kitchen has a microwave, big fridge, oven, good size toaster oven (I baked potatoes) It was lovely to be in Gordon’s good company upon our arrival, too! They’re close enough for comfort! :) He and his wife left fresh honey from their local hive, a fresh dozen eggs from the chicken coop, and complementary wine and bourbon. There are sweet chickens, charming sheep, happy deer, beautiful song from birds, and endless cricket chatter! The space is spotless. The kitchen is stocked with utensils and pots/pans. The fireplace is so charming. SO charming. And the family provides you a robust amount of wood. Moreover, the lake is stocked with fish, depending on when you visit, and there is a canoe to take on the lake, independently, as well. Gordon even offered to take us! Moreover, a 3 minute drive from the main road/winery, 10 minute drive from groceries and super stores, 20 minutes from downtown Charlottesville. A PERFECT getaway. GO. As a lady who loves her comfort. GO. We hope to visit again, soon! Xx Silva and Christopher

  • Incredible spot! My family and I had a great time. Highly recommend.

    Joseph2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • We were so happy with our stay! It was relaxing and secluded. The cabin was wonderful and a short drive to wineries, breweries, and historic locations. We loved the unique touches to the space and the thoughtfulness of a local bottle of wine and a jar of honey made right on the property. Our dog loved spending a few days in the country. Gordon and Jean were so friendly and welcoming. We would love to return in the future.

    Stephanie2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Emily’s Cabin is a wonderful retreat away from the busy world! The cabin is absolutely lovely and clean, with modern amenities and a fantastic shower. But what we enjoyed most was relaxing outside on the deck. You can watch the sunrise, see the lake, admire the mature trees, and just be. But it is also close to restaurants, wineries, and shops if you want to go out and enjoy the local area. The hosts are wonderful and close by should you need anything. Dogs are allowed and our collie had such a great time running around the property. We loved our visit and hope to go back soon.

A beautiful private home away from home! In the midst of a working horse farm, the cottage is a cozy retreat for those looking to explore the area or just relax. Cook meals in the open kitchen with custom mahogany cabinetry, a huge butcherblock island, and gas range. Stay inside by the fireplace, enjoy the yard and patio, or follow the trail map on a walk around the 250 acre farm. The setting is rural and quiet, but only a short drive to Charlottesville, Crozet, and so many vineyards and venues.
Originally a farm manager's residence, the cottage was remodeled with a more modern open living space. Full of natural light, with hardwood floors throughout, the open floor plan makes it a great place for everyone to enjoy coffee, cocktails, or a gourmet meal. Watch a movie in the living room or in bed. Read a book on the sofa, or spread out a puzzle on the coffee table. Three bedrooms and a twin sleep sofa can easily accommodate 7 people. A pack 'n play, toys, movies, books, and games are stocked for your children. Towels, sheets and down duvets are provided. You can conveniently do laundry right inside the cottage during your stay. A gas grill is also available on the patio.
Free Union is one of the most beautiful parts of Virginia! The views on the property and around the neighborhood are just breathtaking. Visitors tend to come for weddings and wine, but we also recommend hikes on nearby trails and checking out the town of Crozet. Our house is right down the driveway, so we will be available to help out in any situation.
  • We had a wonderful stay in a beautiful setting. Erika and Jay are great hosts and made sure we we were settled in, could use the fire place and negotiate logistics to go to a UVA basketball game. Place is comfy and sparkling clean.

    Christy2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This place is excellent. The pictures are accurate and we enjoyed the open kitchen/ living room area. Probably the best stocked kitchen in an Airbnb I’ve stayed at. Very responsive hosts who were kind to help us with the fireplace.

    Saoni2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful farm very close to the town of Charlottesville, with views to the mountains and rollings hills with horse paddocks to wander among. The house has a beautiful kitchen and open space to sit and very comfortable beds and bedrooms. The owners are exceptionally responsive and kind. This is a wonderful place to base a stay in Charlottesville.

    John2019-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • Erika responded quickly to all my questions prior to the trip and was super accommodating. Very spacious house on a gorgeous farm. We appreciated how well stocked the kitchen was and the many blankets and throws. Jay offered to make us a fire, but we were heading out. The beds were comfy and we all slept well. The house had plenty of room for the four of us and would easily accomodate several more. My husband had quite the surprise when he was greeted by the resident pony through the shower window. My city kids lived being there. We would certainly return.

    Jennifer2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the location of our cozy cottage outside of Charlottesville. Gorgeous setting in horse country and enjoyed our visits to Crozet (great lunch at the Green House) as well as Charlottesville. Took a beautiful walk on the property one day. We loved the open setting in the cottage and our fireplace. Thanks J & E!!!

    Susan2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • The place is fantastic and has amazing views. Very cozy and perfect for a weekend getaway!

    Nicholas2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our family gathered at Erika's cottage for Thanksgiving. Erika has a warm and welcoming personality, reflected in the cottage itself. The open layout, comfortable beds, 2 bathrooms, fireplace and up to date kitchen contributed to a relaxing and enjoyable mini-vacation. Waking up and taking walks on the ranch add to the country atmosphere. Erika is a supportive and reliable host who has the cottage clean and well-appointed. We would definitely consider staying with her again!

    John2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Erika’s place is quiet and serene. We loved it. It’s clean and spacious. There are a lot of wood logs for us to start a fire with.

Country chic cottage on a boutique farm in bucolic FREE UNION, 15-20-25 mins from Charlottesville and Crozet( GPS instructions tend to use a longer route than what is the most direct way to/from Crozet) . Completely remodeled cottage with well-stocked gourmet kitchen, stone fireplace (wood burning) , private balcony off each bedroom, GE High Profile appliances and washer/dryer, granite counter tops and custom cabinets. Free unlimited local and long distance phone calls and wireless WiFi.
This is a quite retreat off a gravel road. The gravel road is usually well-maintained as best a gravel road can be maintained. There can be some rough sports after a heavy rain or snowfall. Most folks don't have an issue with since it is a country/rural cottage on a small farm. It is what makes it unique. This is not suburbia.
  • Great cottage and very clean. We loved it.

    Yueping2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Cottage at Peavine is simply perfect. Between the tasteful touches and delicious treats there were no complaints. It was such a peaceful weekend getaway, so much so we look forward to planning a return visit for next year. We were not expecting a full stocked kitchen with every amenity under the sun (worked out great as we forgot spices at home). Kristina is such a wonderful host along with Pat the co-host who took the time to speak to us about the goats on the farm. 10/10 recommend!

    Cheyenne2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage. Great location. Views are incredible.

    Kevin2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely 2 night stay at Kristina's cottage. The setting is very peaceful, down a country lane past Angora goats and surrounded by trees. Nights were quiet and calm. Kristina has done a superb job of making sure you have any and everything you need to enjoy your stay. The kitchen is well stocked with quality cookware, cutlery and appliances, the bathrooms have fluffy towels and extra touches, the beds are comfortable (there's a nice deck off each bedroom) and each deck is complete with a table and chairs to enjoy morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. Communication was fast and the caretaker, who lives nearby, is super nice and helpful. The purpose of our trip was to visit Monticello (a 30 minute drive) and wineries (they are all over the place). We also went into Charlottesville (25 min. drive) for lunch and some shopping. If you go to Monticello (you should!), stop at Jefferson winery which is close by. Good wine tasting and beautiful scenery to view as you have some wine and cheese! In fact, every winery is in a beautiful setting, as the saying goes "Grapes don't grow in an ugly place!" I would definitely recommend a stay at the cottage at Peavine Hollow, especially if you like getting away from the noise of a town and traffic.

  • Amazing place that’s close to great hiking/excursion locations and also perfect for a relaxed weekend. Kitchen is well-stocked, beds are super comfortable, living room with fireplace is very cozy - my friend and I had a great weekend and my dog loved running around. I would definitely come again. (Pat’s goodies are delicious!)

  • The Cottage was a wonderful place for our family to spend the weekend. Close to Charlottesville, but we spent most of our time nearby, out walking or talking to Pat's goats. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook, and the fireplace kept us cozy in the evening. Terrific place. We'd love to come stay again.

  • A beautiful house - I was so blown away by how modern and comfortable it was. It was so nice to turn the fireplace on and hang out in the living room, and a great space for a group of 8! Easy drive to downtown Charlottesville and Monticello. We will definitely be recommending this space to friends!

  • This is one incredible property. A beautifully designed space that was cozy and comfortable. Great communication, as well. We loved staying here!

  • Fantastic location. Within 10-20 minutes of several wineries and also downtown. Lovely home with lots of space. Mostly child proofed, which was awesome. Very clean.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing girls’ weekend at Lab Landing. It’s a beautiful, well appointed home in a quiet, peaceful neighborhood. Lots of trees and beautiful outdoor space and tons of natural light in the house. Neighbors are spread out so you don’t hear or see anyone from the property. Beds are very comfortable, bathrooms are beautiful and the kitchen is well appointed for cooking meals. We enjoyed sitting on the screened porch and saw lots of deer. It was convenient for our group to have the separate guest house and appreciated that it is only steps from the front door. A wonderful weekend - we would definitely rent again if back in the area. Thank you for sharing your home!

A quiet neighborhood amid country estates and horse farms, 15 minutes from Charlottesville, Virginia.
  • The location of this property is great -- very private and quiet with an outdoorsy feel, great for bird watching, hiking and sitting around the fire pit outside. The modern, well-equipped kitchen and dining area are perfect for families, and people with kids will find a good collection of children's books. There is no television, but you'll have wifi and an excellent sound system. The beds are comfortable, and there's plenty of seating. You are some distance from downtown Charlottesville but not far from wineries, the airport and route 29 where restaurants and shopping are ample. Nathan is a great host -- very responsive, and our brief interaction with nearby neighbors was friendly. All in all, this was a perfect place for our family reunion.

  • The five stars well deserved. The space was perfect for five ladies. Central space to eat or drink. Solar energy only, had cool AC, and hot showers. Loved freedom of outdoor shower and quiet of country. Well equipped kitchen. Comfortable beds. Only wish was for more comfortable seats for all to sit together in the sitting nook beside the kitchen.

    Tabbie2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the location & enjoyed the outdoor picnic table. Grilled out on the charcoal grill for the 4th & everything was there to grill that we needed. Lots of light & windows! Gorgeous! Great kitchen for cooking meals.

    Shelley2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous private setting with everything you need for a relaxing, fun trip. Our three kids LOVED the playset, fire pit (perfect for making s’mores), creek and rope swings. Beautiful and spacious inside. Wonderful house and hosts, and we’d love to come again!

    Kathryn2019-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Nathan’s place! Lots of room inside and out. The three full bathrooms were super helpful for our girls trip. The beds were comfortable. We didn’t have too much trouble getting Uber’s into Charlottesville.

    Christy2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • This truly was a wonderful experience for our family. We have 3 kids under the age of 6 and they were never bored! Plenty of exploring to be done. Outdoor shower, bright night sky and a fire for s’mores! I can only hope we are back in the area and can get the opportunity to rent Nathan’s home again!

  • A truly special space in a truly incredible spot. Loads of space to hike or walk in a secluded area. They also have a play ground, which was awesome. All the bedrooms were attractively decorated and comfortable, each with an amazing forest view. It has a large, very well equipped kitchen and grill that boasts clean and new appliances. A fantastic home in a special area that we would love to revisit.

  • Absolutely beautiful property! Very clean and great location not far from the city but just far enough away to feel away from it all. Also had stunning art pieces in the property which gave the house a lot of character. Felt very comfortable and at home, the sheets on the beds and the mattresses themselves were very nice. Overall great stay!

  • It was cold outside but cozy inside with the fire which was burning when we arrived :) We enjoyed relaxing at the farm and venturing out to Charlottesville and Skyline Drive. The kitchen was very well stocked and discrete labels on doors throughout the house helped us find everything we needed. The fenced front yard was a great place for supervised off-leash time for our dog. We enjoyed walking the trails on the farm too.

  • This is a beautiful old farmhouse - so cozy and comfortable! It's a gorgeous farm and we had a great time walking around. The farm dog was a wonderful tour guide and led us all around the property - our pup loved playing with him. Easy access for Charlottesville and Shenandoah. We had a great, peaceful weekend and would love to come back!

  • First thing’s first: the interior of this place is magical. There are so many beautiful Persian rugs throughout the home, antique furniture everywhere, and super comfortable beds. The property is super cool too, we want to come back and have a longer look around. Another nice touch - there were fresh farm eggs waiting for us in the fridge when we arrived - so good. Can’t wait to come back and enjoy it some more!

  • A great getaway close to all that Charlottesville has to offer! The 2 bedroom house was cozy and charming, with comfortable seating, antique furnishings and nice linens. The kitchen had everything we needed, including thoughtful extras- flowers, snacks, coffee and farm fresh eggs. The property has numerous paths to explore, which we enjoyed running each morning with the owner’s friendly dogs. A wonderful place for some quality downtime!

I think you'll love my country nest in Earlysville. Spacious, quiet and comfortable, it's ten minutes from Foxfield, eighteen minutes from fun and historic Charlottesville, half an hour from Mr. Jefferson's Monticello and two hours from Washington D.C. It's also right next door to two hundred acres of woods and fields with mowed trails and a sparkling stream. I'm a mild-mannered author who loves visitors, their kids and their stories.
  • Conveniently located near Charlottesville area if you're looking for things to do outside of the city.

    Bryan2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I needed a getaway as we work typically 7 days a week. We just happened to both have the weekend off so I suggested Charlottesville and Carter Mountain. Stefans place was just what we needed. Comfortable, clean. Coffee! Quiet and just far away from town. We dined at the Timberwolf Grill in Charlottesville for awesome burgers and wings and then relaxed on Stefans porch with our music, a couple cocktails and conversation. With the extra blankets he provided we were warm and comfortable sitting there. Visited Carter Mountain the next day and the view did not disappoint! We recommend his Little Yellow House for the getaway you need too!

  • Beautiful location and house. VERY PRIVATE. We didn’t see Stefan, but everything we needed was staged and available.

    Andy2018-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful yard, easy parking, quiet. Plenty of towels. Had some snack in mini refrigerator .

    Shawna2018-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Stefan’s was a wonderful experience. The entire property is almost like a sanctuary, very private, beautiful and tranquil. In my 9 days there, i spent many much needed hours enjoying the front and back porches, listening to the rain, the gurgling koi pond or the wind chimes and watching the amazing amount of hummingbirds that visited his perfectly placed feeder and allowing my senses to soak in the beautiful, mature landscaping that always brought me to a state of serenity. If you’re looking for a place to rest, rejuvenate and be at peace - this is it! An added bonus is that it is in one of the most beautiful areas of Albemarle County, yet not very far from town at all.
