Enjoy our comfortable cabin situated on 20 private wooded acres near several trout streams, George Washington National Forest, Virginia Game Commission, hiking trails, and caves. The cabin sleeps four, including a double bed and two twin beds in the loft. For skiing we are 1 hour and 30 minutes from snowshoe and 30 minutes from The Homestead. For fishing we are 5 minutes away from the Bullpasture, 10 minutes from the Cowpasture, and 25 minutes from the Jackson river.
You will enjoy nature as it was meant to be...near primitive. There is no running water or electricity. However, there is a wood stove for heat and cooking, 7 gallons of water (more if you need it), Coleman stove, outdoor grill, all cooking and eating utensils, shower bag, outdoor shower, outhouse, bed linens, and nature's wonders. We provide firewood for the indoor wood stove but not for the outdoor fire pit. There's plenty of deadwood and downed limbs to collect on the property for the outdoor fire. If you stay an extended period we will replenish the water and the firewood.
We are located in the heart of several stocked trout streams, cave sights, and public forest. In March the annual Highland County Maple Festival is just 30 minutes away.
  • I dont know if it's possible to find words to describe our little weekend stay in this little gem of a cabin. If you're looking to reconnect with loved ones, reset your mind and just take a break from technology and all the noise it brings to your life and truly be in the moment and enjoy it, then this cabin is for you. It truly has everything you need, and a fire had been started already which was the best feeling walking into on such a chilly day. There is so much to do there, that we didnt get to do everything we had intended to. At the end of our stay, we didnt want to leave, and neither did our pups! I assure you that we will be using this cabin again in the future. It was absolute perfection.

  • This is a very special place, and provides an ideal combination of getting away, simplifying and "roughing it while also being very well equipped in a way that makes it feel more like part roughing it and part being pampered in very cozy, iconic log cabin that has everything you need. My two sons and I still never forget our stay and we hope to get back.

  • Second time coming and was a good time as expected! Great weekend getaway

  • We had a great time this past weekend. Cabin has a touch of modern to it and the property is nice and quiet. Highly recommend if your looking to get away for a few days.

  • This cabin was wonderful! I was a bit nervous about finding the airbnb since cell phone signal drops about 30-45 minutes away from the property, but we had no problems using the map in the airbnb app to find our destination. The cabin had pretty much all the amenities we could want. The only thing that was missing was a dish rag or sponge, which made washing pans a little tricky. There are excellent fishing spots about a 5 minute drive from the property stocked with trout. The coleman grill was great, and the cabin was stocked with pots, plates, and cooking ware. As a side note, if you are bringing a car without 4-wheel drive, you may have difficulties getting up the hill the leads to cabin. This was totally our fault, but we got stuck on the driveway for about 25 minutes :-D

  • We had planned to go camping but the temps were supposed to get into the low 30s and we were worried about our girls (4 and 7) getting too cold so at the last minute, we searched for an alternative. This cabin was perfect. With no running water or electricity, in some ways it was more rustic than a campground, but the wood stove kept us toasty warm. We loved the peacefulness. The girls were nervous at first about the steep ladder upstairs but ended up really enjoying the loft. Because it was a last minute trip, we didn't really know what we were going to do and I didn't realize that there would be no phone service anywhere in the surrounding area so although I had read about hiking and other activities before we left, I couldn't access that information once there. We managed to have fun poking around but if I came that way again, I would be a little more prepared.

  • The cabin is quiet and peaceful. The cooking stove was a nice touch. Everything you could need for living off the grid!

  • It was a beautiful place to stay if you want to get unplug and have a great view.

    Simeon2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • The only drawback is little to no cellular service & no Wi-Fi or TV, but it is perfect to get away from all of that! Just buy a map & maybe some board games & a good book when not admiring the beautiful view.

  • This place was outstanding! Cindy gave perfect instructions and met me shortly after my arrival to make sure everything was to my liking. The house was cozy but it is the deck/view that sets this place apart! I would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice place to read/explore.

  • This is a quintessential cabin getaway. It's remote, it's rustic, it's cozy. We loved having the cows for neighbors. The sound of the river is wonderful. Highly recommended for a quiet place to relax!

    Jessie2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, great little cabin, fantastic fire pits. We had a great weekend getaway!

    Ivan2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful secluded cabin right on the creek. Bring water shoes because creek is great fun to walk in, albeit cold! We went fishing and caught rainbow trout and our kids had fun playing in the water which was not deep (they are 6&8yo). Rocks are slippery! Tons of wood for a bonfire. I’d suggest camping chairs because hand built chairs around bonfire are not very comfortable (but they look cool because they are handmade). Bed was super comfortable. Place was clean and plenty of kitchen supplies. Two full baths were great but they do not provide soap in shower. Upstairs loft was nice but hot. Great for kids to go watch tv in the morning so adults could sleep in. Loft not recommended for little kids because of steep stairs. This cabin is perfect for those wanting to step away from modern life and slow down a bit.

    Sarah2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is FANTASTIC. It was everything and more that we needed for a relaxing mini spring break vacation. Our kids liked walking in the creek and throwing rocks in the water. My husband loved laying in the hammock by the water. And I loved taking dozens of pictures and rocking on the porch. We can’t wait to come back when the weather is warmer!!

    Ashley2019-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • The house was great! And the land and creek were awesome even in the snow! Location couldn’t be better for exploring the maple festival and highland county.

  • Great little place, right on the river/creek, to escape real life for a few days!

    Jason2019-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • We really had a great time this past weekend, probably one of the best we have had in a while. We cannot wait to stay again some time soon. The cabin is literally our dream home and it was hard having to leave and head back to Hampton, VA. The cabin has all of the essentials you need and then some. If you are looking for solitude and nature, then this is your place.

This is a REMOTE cabin with outstanding views! We ARE off the beaten path approximately 1.3 miles. The property is adjacent to the George Washington National Forest. Truly disconnect from the world and enjoy the peace and serenity our home offers. We are the highest home in the region and the views are wonderful. Hiking, Mountain Biking, Fishing & Hunting are everywhere! Please be take a minute to read all the information about our cabin before booking. There is a hot tub available!
Our home has been a getaway for us for many years. It offers seclusion from the outside world. The home boasts a large kitchen with seating for four at the bar where you can prepare dinner and enjoy great conversations. There are views from all of the decks on the home, they stretch along five sides. We have TV with dvd player. Bring your favorite movies. The home does not have wifi nor are you able to get a cell signal with any reliability. The home has a full HVAC system, though we rarely use the AC. When star gazing, it is as though you can reach out and touch the stars. We are connected to the George Washington National Forest. The trails systems in the area are amazing. We've mapped out mountain bike rides for the beginner to expert level riders. Fishing is not too far away. Native Brook Trout are in many of the creeks. Trails around the cabin are not part of the public trail system and are not marked very well. These have been mainly used by local hunters to access the National Forest. You are most welcome to hike behind the cabin and into the National Forest. For hikes with marked trails you would want to make a short drive from the cabin to areas such as Elkhorn Lake, Todd Lake, Braley Pond, Ramsey's Draft, The Breastworks, Elliot's knob. Please take a few minutes to check out our reviews and ask us any questions you may have about our home before you book. We have been blessed with this home and enjoy sharing it with others. I built it to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and be disconnected from my world. We used our iphone to take the photos of the home, we hope they reflect the style and layout.
The neighborhood is made up of folks who enjoy living a quiet life not part of the fast paced world. They are a great group of folks who enjoy their privacy and living in a quiet place.
  • Very clean and gorgeous views from every room and the hot tub. Very secluded. The host was upfront about the road conditions and heed the warning. We made it to the treehouse in a minivan but it was an adventure. If you are looking to get away from everything this is the place you want to go.

    Sean2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second time to the treehouse and this time we brought friends. They fell in love with the treehouse as much as we did. Getting up to the house is always a fun adventure and once you get up there, you are rewarded by a spectacular view. We were able to see the stars while chillin in the hot tub one night. We had a bunch of fun during our stay and we can't wait to come back.

  • Wonderful, quiet getaway. Beautiful views and very comfortable. Highly recommend!

    Emily2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • The place was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed! I felt that the beds were very comfortable and easy to relax in. We didn't run out of hot water even after 4 people showered. The stars were really beautiful at night and I recommended getting up early for the sunrise! We did do some walking around but it was not super easy to find any trails for hiking. We could have looked harder for sure but didn't want to stray into private property by accident. The hot tub was great! between the hot tub and the nice beds we couldn't have been more relaxed! Definitely want to come back.

    Melissa2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This lovely cabin is exactly how described and pictured on the site. The views are truly panoramic and the space is very comfortable. The road to get there is challenging, but our AWD Subaru did not have any trouble. We really enjoyed the hot tub and just relaxing. I would recommend it to anyone looking to disconnect and relax for a while!

    Sarah2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We can’t say enough about this house!! We love it! This was our 3rd visit and we are already looking forward to our 4th one there... It’s beyond peaceful, the views are beautiful and the hot tub under the stars never disappoints.... This is a must stay!

    Sandy2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • This place is pure magic. A chance to completely unwind and slow down among the most beautiful backdrop nature offers.

A bright open space with large windows and high ceilings that compliment the view of surrounding foliage. Interior was inspired by Nordic cabins, with stark white walls and ceilings in the main areas of the cabin and colorful decorations. A large screened-in porch at the front of the house is perfect for intimate gatherings. A hot tub is available alongside the house in addition to a two-person outdoor shower, and corn hole boards and a fire pit offer additional options for family fun.
Also a great place for a couple who wants to be secluded and enjoy their time in a beautiful wooded area. The master bedroom includes a couple's shower and stargazing from the hot tub offers a romantic experience.
Very safe neighborhood association that takes pride in their homes and manicures the lawns and areas along the road. The closest neighbors are far enough away that it is not likely for visitors to have any contact or interactions with them.
  • Literally the best Airbnb we have stayed in yet! Completely exceeded all our expectations. Aaron was extremely helpful and very quick to respond to any questions we had. The place was sparkling clean and absolutely beautiful! We will definitely be staying here again.

    Tessa2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

  • Can’t say enough good things about this place. This is one you really have a hard time leaving. The overall design/layout is well done. Sparkling clean. The hot tub views are absolutely incredible. Aaron is an excellent host, makes the stay as smooth as possible. I Will definitely be returning again in the warmer months!

  • A friend and I visited Aaron’s Nordic Cabin for a relaxing getaway weekend from Washington DC. The cabin was better than we expected! It was beautifully decorated, the beds were super comfortable, many fun games and the hot tub was an amazing perk! We would definitely stay here again!

  • What a fantastic place to spend a weekend! This cabin is super clean and comfortable. The hosts are great—very helpful, accommodating, and quick to message back. The place is secluded and quiet.

    Katie2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Aaron’s cabin is a well designed, beautifully sunlit gem of a house nestled in pristine and peaceful woods. My friends and I spent a lovely evening relaxing in the hot tub overlooking the trees, reading on the couches, and cooking in the kitchen, which had a number of good cooking tools and appliances. My favorite part about this house is how much light floods in from various windows (and yet it retains heat well as a reno or new build). We will definitely recommend this place to our friends and come back for a longer excursion. The host was very communicative - polite, helpful, and prompt. Overall, one of my favorite AirBnB experiences!

The cabin is 35 minutes to Churchville, 45 minutes to Staunton, 1 hour to Lexington, and just over 3 hours from DC.
  • We have been exploring the region for a while, and Deerfield is a great valley. Very tranquil, and out standing hiking. There is a fantastic trail just 50 feet from the house. Kitchen was ready to cook, bathrooms were spotless. A great spot for some r and r in nature.

  • Cindys home was just lovely! Such a gorgeous cabin with amazing antiques everywhere you turn situated in the rolling hills of Shenandoah. It feels like you’re a million miles away! Amazing star gazing and some good hikes nearby. Would definitely recommend !

  • There are no words to describe this gem of a place. The cabin is so cozy and authentic... very much reflecting the owner's personal investment and attention to detail. Cindy's hospitality was outstanding going above and beyond.. with many thoughtful offers and tips on areas to visit. Would love to come back. Can't recommend it highly enough.

  • What a gem! We loved our stay. Really off the beaten path, but that’s what my girlfriend and I needed. Get away from the hustle and grind of our daily life. The house was amazing! New build and so spacious and comfortable. Everything you need! Maybe purchase a hotspot and bring with you. I didn’t mind, but my girlfriend has children so a bit hard for her to communicate with them. Cell signal at bottom of driveway. Staunton was great for nice dinners and a very quaint little town. Did some tubing on the James River and paddle boarding on the Elkhorn Lake. Just a very needed trip and Cindy was great!

    Danny2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was very nice and as described. We loved the cabin . This area is remote and without cell service but we were familiar with the area and already knew this. It is very beautiful and peaceful . The cabin is very private.

    Joyce2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is a hidden gem. Out in the country in a forest type setting. The house is so inviting filled with antiques and architectural beauty, The little towns in the area were so fun to explore. You do not have cell phone service or tv. We didn't care but some might.

    Suzanne2019-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • Cindy is a wonderful host. Warm and welcoming. And the cabin and surrounding area is wonderful for a weekend get-away in the mountains - quiet, peaceful, relaxing and rejuvenating.

The check in was super easy. The home was just so cosy. I could have sat by the glass windows for hours on end. One evening we played some games that we found in the yurt. It was just so pleasant. • When I saw the listing for this house, saw its spectacular pictures, and saw that we'd have the entire house and all 500 acres all to ourselves, I immediately scanned the reviews to see whether this could be a scam, because it seemed too good to be true. Well, I'm here to tell you that the Manor at Hunter Ridge Estate is very real and even BETTER than the photos suggest. I took one step through the back door into the comfortable great room and said, "Oh my God, I love it!" and then I don't think I stopped saying that all weekend! The grounds are lovely. (And this is the ugliest time of year -- I can only imagine how gorgeous they will be in spring and fall!!) The great room was totally unexpected and wonderfully comfortable. We LOVED the fireplace in the parlor. Everything was so cozy -- lots and lots of throw blankets that made curling up on the veranda or in front of the fire so appealing. We were there on a rainy, cold, dreary weekend and the fireplaces were perfect. We absolutely loved the upstairs verandah. Sat out there with coffee and tea and the fire on each morning for hours and each evening the same. Loved the little period touches, like the hidden back staircase to one of the bedrooms, the giant built-ins, the tall ceilings and moldings. The 4 bedrooms are each unique and lovely. Beds are sumptuous and comfortable. One bedroom note: one of the bedrooms connects through the other to a bathroom. So essentially, in 1 of the upstairs bedrooms, you'd have to walk through a connecting bedroom to get to 1 of the full bathrooms. It worked fine for us b/c we kept our son in our connecting bedroom, but just thought I'd mention it. The bridal dressing room also connects through one of the bedrooms -- that was an amazing surprise! We didn't have a bride in the party but we were so impressed with it! The only less than completely spectacular part of the house was the kitchen, but it was fine in terms of being well equipped and functional and scrupulously clean, just not "updated" in 2020 terms, and a bit strangely laid out. But it was totally fine. The hosts left us a lovely big basket of fresh fruit. They were well stocked with various coffees and teas. We want to come back for a week in a different season. It was that amazing.

  • Our family had a great stay. The house is amazing! We loved the fireplaces and everything was very clean. The property is so beautiful and peaceful. We're going to come back this year.

  • We had a wonderful time here with my family to celebrate my birthday. The house is gorgeous, with beautiful hiking nearby. Sonnee was so thoughtful and even left a cake, card, and balloon for my birthday. We definitely hope to return!

  • This whole property is a little slice of heaven. The farmhouse is nestled among the mountains about 20 minutes outside Staunton, VA. The property is breathtaking and the house is so beautiful. We stayed in the winter so the fireplaces in basically every room were perfect to cozy up to. I can not recommend this place enough if you’re looking for a quiet place to retreat with friends. The owners are also super great at communication and have provided so many amenities to make you feel right at home.

  • Hunter Ridge Estate was a lovely spot for our small family reunion. The rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean. The host had decorated for the holidays and there were many thoughtful touches. We appreciated the fruit and Christmas cookies, which were delicious. There was plenty of room for us to gather in the living room and eat dinner in dinner in the dining room. We would return and highly recommend Hunter Ridge to other guests!

    Jay2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Sonnee is a fantastic host - we had a wonderful time over the holidays with our family. The home was decorated above and beyond what we could have hoped for Christmas, and we were welcomed with extra large fruit and snack trays. It made for a truly unforgettable stay.

    Dan2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Sonnee and Chad have opened their gorgeous, family-owned farmhouse to the public! Every room has been addressed to the last detail. The kitchen is well equipped; bedrooms are inviting and conjure a wonderful night of rest; bathrooms provide amenities that might have been left at home; and cozy sitting spaces for two or twelve with oversized furniture, blankets, and decorative pillows. The dining room and each bedroom have a fireplace, with one more in the parlor and a fire pit on the second-floor covered porch. A gorgeous staircase leads you upstairs with another secret passage to the master bedroom. Sonnee and Chad have pulled off a meticulous renovation and have spared no expense.

This property has been our family's oasis for the past thirty-five years. We fell in love with Highland County and made it our goal to purchase a piece of riverfront land on the Bullpasture River. Goal accomplished! Experience a beautiful river-front park where you can spend lazy days playing in the water, building fires, exploring the local water caves, stargazing, hiking, and most importantly, getting off the grid and taking in the beauty of the Shenandoah mountains and valleys.
This is a simple clean house. The main floor consists of a living room, eating area, kitchen, full bathroom and 2 bedrooms. The washer and dryer are on the first floor. Upstairs has two bedrooms and one full bathroom. Behind the house is a deck and five acres of land. Walk down the path to the river and sit on the banks of the water all day. We often take our tents and camp down at the water. If you have teenagers or older kids, you can send them down to the river to camp and keep the house for the adults! The water is very clean and the stars and lightening bugs are a spectacle. Note - this house is very remote. You are truly away from the world. It is very dark at night. Our parents live in the nextdoor property and if you have an emergency, they can lend you wifi to make a call. There is SO much to do and explore in Highland County. We're working on putting together a book to give you ideas of how to spend your days. We don't know what season we love best - the summer (very cool at nights, beautiful wildflowers and no mosquitoes!) or the Fall. The Fall foliage is unbelievable and the Highland County Maple Festival is a treat. This is hunting land and fisherman flock to Highland.
The air is fresh, the stars are amazing, the evenings are cool, the mosquitoes stay away, the noise simply doesn't exist... Highland County is an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Reconnect with your family and friends. Enjoy the fauna, flora, scenery, and stillness of this remote corner of Virginia. Bring a good book!
  • This air bnb was amazing. The location was perfect, the house was clean, cozy, and comfortable. I absolutely would recommend this place and will definitely rent this place again. Amazing!!!!!

  • Several of my friends and I stayed for a short girls weekend and loved it. The house is spacious with comfy beds. The kitchen is well stocked with necessities. The living room is great for games and accommodating groups. The biggest drawback is the zero cell service and not internet but if you’re looking to get off the grid and unplug this is the perfect place.

    Emily2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay for a quiet weekend and wonderful host.

    Kim2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • A mountain getaway in the fullest sense...crisp air, vivid scenes, deer feeding in the back field, sparkling river, and bright stars cast against the dark night skies. The house is spacious, cozy and comfy! Jeff and Debbie went the extra mile to welcome us with a plate of cookies sitting on top of the kitchen island! A must see is the Sugar Creek Country Store on the intersection of Rt 678 and 250!

    Jenny2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at the River house was a blast! It was a guys trip for me and 7 of my friends. We hiked around locally and explored the river just at the end of the field. There was plenty of space and lots to do. Highly recommended.

We're nestled in the mountains of Highland County with several streams and the Cowpasture River running through the middle of the property. It's a tranquil setting quiet out-of-the-way with beautiful views plenty of trails to hike. Just open country.
It's very quiet and remote there's no cell service at the farm. Sometimes you hear the cows moo otherwise it's pretty quiet the stars are bright on beautiful clear nights it's just an enjoyable place to stay .
  • Beautiful home on spacious forested farmland. WiFi had streaming-strength speeds. Nice cozy gas fireplace. Great big wall perfect for a projector, because there's no tv. Kitchen is well equipped and the bathrooms and bedrooms are great for just a couple or friends & family to enjoy. Highly recommend a visit!

  • We were only here briefly so unfortunately didn’t get to appreciate the natural beauty of the area, but our stay went perfectly with no problems. We enjoyed the minimalist rustic style of the place and had plenty of space to spread out and enjoy. We loved the grass fed beef in the freezer. The area was totally dark at night, and the stars were beautiful.

  • A perfect place to rest and recuperate. Durwood’s hospitality is definitely felt in many different touches at the house. It is so cozy and spacious and looks out at the beautiful Washington national park. My husband and I went to rest and we did just that! It was wonderful!

  • Perfectly peaceful! We had the pleasure of staying here for a weekend away and it was delightful! The home is incredibly warm and inviting, with all sorts of extra touches. The hosts are the kindest people and were quick to answer any questions and provided tons of helpful information about area hiking and exploring. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had everything you could need. But, by far, my favorite feature is the location. Coffee on either porch is the perfect way to unplug and relax. My children and I loved exploring the land around the property and had a wonderful adventure. I cannot wait to come back!

  • This is a wonderful old farmhouse that has been updated and added on. There are nice sized rooms and unique architectural touches. If you love old houses, as I do, this is a wonderful place. The tiny community of Head Waters is about 30 minutes from the small town of Monterey Virginia. The setting is beautiful but the travel is through mountainous terrain. Caution should be exercised if not familiar with the area, especially during inclement weather. Highland County is one of the most picturesque locations in Virginia.

Cottage with pool on 300 acres of Blue Ridge Mountains. Amazing privacy and beauty.
This is a luxurious cottage with pool about a 1.5 hour drive from Charlottesville on a 300 acre farm in the middle of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Perfect for a romantic weekend or family getaway. The cottage consists of a huge window-filled kitchen/dining/living area, made with the finest materials. The hardwood floors are spectacular rustic oak. The kitchen has the latest appliances and wonderful red granite countertops. The living area has a gas fireplace with HDTV and DirecTV, and a comfortable queen-sized sofa bed. It also includes a bedroom with fireplace, big-screen TV and king-size bed with memory foam mattress. The cottage sits alone in its own valley, and the farm has spectacular hills, meadows, and woods. It features soaring views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, with over a mile of border with the beautiful George Washington National Forest. Privacy and intimacy go along with the gorgeous landscape. You will be the only people on the farm. From the entire farm, no other houses are visible, despite the stunning views of 20 miles or more. Dozens of deer make their home on the farm and snack on the apple trees around the cottage. In summer there are cows munching away on the grass. Recreational Equipment: The fishing pond (stocked with catfish, bass and perch) has a paddle boat. Fishing rods available. There is a golf cart and four mountain bikes. There are three kayaks for use on the nearby Cow Pasture River. The kayaks are a short 8' long, so they fit in most cars. There are car racks available to take them to the river. There's a pool right outside your door, via a rather whimsical bridge from the deck to a jumping platform. Do you dare? To give you an idea of how large 300 acres is, it would take you about an hour to walk to the back of the farm. We gladly accept pets. The farm has always had pets, and they love it there. The bathroom has marble floors, ceramic tiles, and a jetted tub with a view of the wilderness. The two-sided deck allows you to sip your morning coffee while looking out over the valley, watching the mist roll through. Sleeping accommodations consist of the king-sized bed in the bedroom, a queen-sized sofa-bed, a self-inflating queen airbed, and three self-inflating twin airbeds (all 22' high), so you can mix and match as needed. Wander the farm to your heart's delight. Swim to your hearts content. Fish in the pond. Check out a nearby river swimming hole right out of Tom Sawyer. Careen about on the mountain bikes or the golf cart.
  • If you’re looking to get away and experience solitude with your friends or loved or even by yourself this is the place to be. Also, there is a lot to check out so you don’t even need to consider leaving the Airbnb. It’s for everything you need!

  • What a wonderful few days in the mountains. Not only was there more to do in that we could fit in the two days we were there, everything was better than expected. The pictures do not do the property justice. I took my 12 yr old son and his two friends to celebrate his recent birthday and this cabin and location is perfect for kids and adults alike. To top it all off, Essie was just so incredibly caring and hospitable- we even got a call from her to ensure we had been able to find the cabin and to make sure we didn't have any questions. We will be back for sure!

  • My husband and I stayed at James’s property just after we got married. It was a perfect place for a couple, very secluded and lots of the property to explore. The house is wonderfully cozy, and has everything you would need if you make a trip to grocery store on the way. The king size bed was incredibly comfortable with plenty of pillows. The views are absolutely amazing, and can’t be beat for the price!

  • A great no frills place to crash when you're spending a weekend playing in the mountains.

    David2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Well, the cabin is always great for a basic and modern alternative to camping. There is nothing like a day of mountain biking then coming back to a place to shower, build a fire in the big fire place and cook a meal. This was the second time here and we took in the rushing creek and nature even more this time. The place is very quite at night. For us MTBers the road off the driveway is the Climb to Magic Dowells and Loookout Mt. Killer!!

    John2019-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Why sleep in a tent at Stokesville Campground, when you can take a shower, cook dinner in a kitchen, and crash in a real bed? This place isn't fancy, but it's clean, dry, and has running water and HVAC. For mountain biking in the always awesome George Washington National Forest, this is a great value for the money. So cheap! I love that you can bring your own towels and sheets to reclaim the cleaning fee, too.

  • Well, my pal and I were looking for a place to stay since we were going to ride the Great Southern Traverse Epic MTB Loop, well this cabin has everything we needed for comfort and a bit more. This is a perfect nice size better than basic cabin. Read the description, it is highly accurate, don't expect fancy and you will be happy. This cabin provides a great place to crank the wood burner, get a fire going in the fantastic large fireplace, make a decent meal in the kitchen and chill. The beds were comfortable, the Keuirig is a nice touch as was the fire pit. We will rent this place again as it is a bargain.

Beautiful private cabin located in the historical Bath County. Enjoy a low key, quiet and peacefully vacation with an abundance of wildlife adjoining the George Washington National Forest. Enjoy some downtime at the cabin or visit some of the wonderful places Bath County has to offer. Twenty minutes from the Fort Lewis Lodge. Thirty minutes from the Douthat State Park with stocked trout lake and streams. Forty - five minutes from the Omni Homestead Resort and town of Hot Springs.
The Whitetail Lodge is located approximately an hour from Staunton or Lexington VA. You will need to stop at the grocery store before arriving. However, there are many great dining options in the town of Hot Springs 45 minutes away.
  • This Cabin was perfect for a relaxing, unplugged-no service getaway. It was so refreshing to unwind and focus on family. Thank you so much for a charming stay in your hospitable cabin.

  • What a great weekend! The leaves were turning so beautifully and the cabin was perfect. It was more than I expected because Becky really has the place stocked up. The kitchen has everything, crockpot included. We've stayed at tons of rentals and this one by far was the most well stocked. We did need to bring all our groceries from home because it's a ways to the closest store, but we brought stuff we didn't even need to. The cabin was VERY clean and the cabin was furnished with towels and sheets which was great. Everything you'd ever need besides food for the most part. It's a beautiful spot on a perfect setting. We took our beagle and he was so happy, I think he thought we'd moved there and he was completely happy about that! Lol. We walked all around outside many times a day, walked the creek, played cards, did a puzzle which I left there for other folks, sat by the fire pit a few times, and watched movies together. There was absolutely no service and we have Verizon and get it everywhere. I'm totally okay with that. We needed to take a break from everyone zoned in on their phones and we gave our family who may have needed to reach us the house phone line for emergencies but it fortunately never rang. We will DEFINITELY be back!

    Lorraine2019-11-03T00:00:00Z

  • We had a wonderful stay at Becky’s cabin. It has all the comforts of home but is free from the hustle and bustle. It’s a perfect spot to leave everything behind. Her cabin is beautifully decorated, immaculately clean and the perfect spot for relaxation. We’ve already recommended to our friends and will be back again.

    Bill2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was all we could ever wanted for an awesome weekend of chillax. Located in a National Forest, fully equipped and decorated with great care and detail. The cabin is the perfect spot for a comfy and cozy getaway with friends far away from the city, and away from mundane distractions. You might have to forget about your phone signal around the cabin, but quite honestly that was a blessing (if needed there is a land line in the cabin but we didn't use it). Highlights: The coziness of the place will make you stay (and come back). Stargazing by the fire pit on a clear dark night was simply amazing. Pro tip: Make sure to plan your meals and bring the food/drink you'll need during your stay, you probably don't want to go around to find a grocery store in the area. Time runs slower in the country, perfect time for those good ol'board games. A shoutout to Becky, she was very attentive and helpful: an amazing host!
