Places to stay in Carnmenellis
Set within the grounds of the original Count House for the Basset mines (as featured on Poldark). Nestled on a world heritage site. North Coast beaches just 5 miles away. Cosy cottage in a tranquil location, overlooking Carn brea and views to the coast. Ideal as a base for exploring the rugged beauty of Cornwall whilst remaining a short drive away from the local town and shops.
Little Basset is a cosy cottage which has its own fully equipped kitchen, bedroom with its own closet space, and bathroom in which there is a shower.
Little Basset is located on private grounds on the outskirts of Carnkie. Carnkie is a peaceful, friendly village in the heart of the old mining community. There is a pub a half a mile walk away and taxis are readily available, it is also a walking distance from Carn Brea castle which is a Jordanian restaurant; the castle itself can be traced back to 1379. The main thing Carnkie has to offer is the beautiful scenery and friendly atmosphere!

  • Secluded, bijou, everything one needs. Just don't go there if require WiFi/Internet etc. Just the space to really relax away from it all. Good walks all around & definitely no interference from host unless required. A real place to just unwind..

  • Definitely recommend Alisa’s place. Very quite and relaxing, very well equipped for its size. Would stay again, we loved it.

  • This is a very cute, simple little cottage in a pretty amazing area. You can walk all the way up Carn Brea from the doorstep :) Not too easy to find (it is not the Carnkie in Helston!) but Alisa was very helpful with directions and quick to respond. Very quiet and solitary - a great little escape!

  • This is a very sweet, warm and cosy nest. It provides all that is needed and it is in a charming location among ruins of the mining past of the area. The coast is at about 20-30 minutes driving and it is stunning, also featuring St Ives. We had a great week and also enjoyed the amazing hospitality and kindness of Ailsa always ready to help and support us.

  • A beautiful cornish cottage that is cosy, warm and in a lovely quiet village setting. Tara is a warm happy to help kind of lady who makes you feel very welcome im her home. We arrived quite late (after 22:00) but it was not an issue for her at all. To top it off she has the softest, fluffiest cat I have ever met and I fell in love (I am a dog person), it was hard not to take him with us when we left

  • Great stay!

    Thomas2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at John's. Lovely area, perfect location for driving to the local attractions, both the towns such as Falmouth and the coastal walks such as Lizard peninsula. Most of all, great for our dogs, as there is a huge field attached to the property that they could run and frolick in. That field also has hammocks which we lounged in in the evenings... Overall a good stay and recommended.

    David2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • This space is so much nicer than the photos suggest. It's spacious, extremely well equipped, nicely furnished with tasteful touches. John's helpful and available for questions. Highly recommended.

Awaken in a bright, cheerful space with views of a quaint village from first floor windows. A cottage-like feel is created by painted wood panelling and traditional furnishings designed for comfort. Have breakfast at table nestled under a skylight.
Situated in a peaceful Cornish village, Little Anvil occupies a central position (both the north and south coast are within easy reach) ideal for exploring beautiful West Cornwall. A newly converted first-floor apartment which forms part of the owners 18th century cottage, one of the oldest in the village. With its own private entrance, the apartment is full of character, with luxurious touches and modern appliances - a welcoming and comfortable place to return to after your day out. In addition to this we are next door to the village pub, where you can relax with a drink in the beer garden, have a meal or chat with locals. The pub also has a small shop for essential supplies. The open plan living/kitchen area is well equipped with a large flat screen, Smart TV for relaxing in the evening, plus a Bluetooth speaker for your music and free wi-fi. If you like to cook the kitchen/dining area facilities include an induction hob, full size oven, large fridge-freezer and dishwasher. There is also a washer-dryer should you need it, and heating for the colder months. The bedroom is decorated in a relaxing French style with a king-size bed, luxurious linen, and an en-suite shower room. If you are bringing your dog with you there is an enclosed outdoor courtyard area for convenience, which also has a covered storage area for bicycles/kayak. The nearest town is the historic market town of Helston (4 miles), famous for its Spring celebration - Flora Day. The thriving and pretty coastal town of Falmouth is a short drive (for visitors to the University campus, it is only a 10min drive) and the beautiful port of Porthleven with its many fine restaurants is also within a 15-20minute drive. Nearby is the stunning coastline of The Lizard Peninsula, or you could travel towards the evocative and mysterious landscape of West Penwith, stopping to visit St Michaels Mount on your way to unforgettable St Ives and beyond. West Cornwall has so many stunning places to visit, that we hope you will want to return time and again.
The apartment is in the village of Porkellis, close to art and culture, restaurants, a beach, and family-friendly activities. West Cornwall is known for its heathland, golden sand, artists' colonies, ancient stone circles, and Iron Age villages.
  • Our stay at Little Anvil was the perfect Cornish getaway. It's placed so well to explore the coast and countryside and it felt really cosy and homely. The cream tea on arrival was a lovely surprise as well!

  • Our stay at Little Anvil was wonderful! We would recommend it to anyone and hope to come back in the future. It was a lovely little apartment and every detail had been thought about. Check in and out was easy and any instructions to follow were simple! Our stay at Lori and Tims was exactly what we were after. The Star Inn next door was a great recommendation too!

  • Such a lovely place to stay! Very well decorated and has everything you need. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to visit the area.

    Céline2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lori's place is a fabulous place to say, in a quiet setting, a beautifully done up property with lots of characters and charm. Lori called to say hello on arrival, and was there to be contacted if needed. My wife thought the shower was 'one of the best ever'! Lori also left some lovely scones and jam for us to find when we first got there. We really liked the place, and booked it again on our return home.

With easy access to Falmouth, attractions such as The National Maritime Museum Falmouth, Rick Steins Fish and Chips on Discovery Quay, Pendennis Castle and even St Mawes Castle via a 20 minute foot ferry, are all within reach. Falmouth is one of Cornwall's most popular places to visit because of its unique mix of attractions, water sports, beaches, history and place to eat. The National Maritime Museum Cornwall and Pendennis Castle are both high on visitors' lists of places to visit and the views from Pendennis on a fine day a truly magical. Falmouth is the sailing capital of Cornwall with its spectacular deep water natural harbour offering a haven for both cruisers and racers. Many events are held through the summer culminating in the famous Falmouth Regatta Week and associated shore side events. The beaches at Gyllingvase & Swanpool are coarse sand and are wonderfully sunny south facing spots. You can ride the ferry to beautiful St Mawes for the day or take a delightful trip around the estuary stopping off at either Trelissick Gardens or Smugglers Cottage for a cream tea! There are plenty of places to eat & drink in Falmouth and recently Rick Stein has opened his Fish & Chip Restaurant & Oyster Bar at Discovery Quay adding to the superb mix across the town.Helston was originally a thriving port, however as the river silted up over the years, this ceased to be. Where the river joins the sea, is now Cornwall's largest freshwater lake. The market town has a mixture of Georgian & Victorian architecture. On Coinagehall Street is the Blue Anchor, originally a rest house for monks, which became a tavern in the 15th century. This is possibly the oldest brewery in the country selling the strong local brew, Spingo. Helston is the gateway to the Lizard Peninsula and to the Helford River, which has some beautiful villages, namely St Anthony in Meneage & Helford Village.Porthleven is approximate 3.5 miles southwest of Helston. This charming fishing harbour also has world class surf break.A little further along the coast, towards Penzance is Praa Sands, which has a mile of sandy beach.North Helford covers the area from Maenporth to Helston and includes places such as Mawnan Smith, Helford Passage, Constantine & Gweek. The area has many delights such as Trebah and Glendurgan Gardens, The Seal Sanctuary at Gweek, Goonhilly Earth and Satellite Station and The Ferry Boat Inn.Daphne du Maurier wrote her only romantic novel Frenchmans Creek about the River Helford, and who can blame her, the views really are beautiful. Glendurgan Gardens run by the National Trust hold a 176 year old laurel maze and the 'Giants Stride' swing most popular with children. St Anthony-in-Meneage holds a lovely little church primarily of medieval architecture. Maenporth beach tucked away on the westerly edge of Falmouth Bay boast spectacular views, well worth a visit.

  • This place exceeded expectations. A beautiful place to stay in a lovely placed right in the middle of the best places in Cornwall. The Star inn pub is 5 minute walk and the people there were amazing. I would stay again and recommend to all.

  • Dingley Cottage is a cosy and comfortable stone cottage located in a secluded setting. We found it to be perfectly positioned to enable us to visit the towns and villages on both the north and south Cornish coasts. Our hosts were helpful and we were pleasantly surprised to find fresh fruit scones, jam, and cream on our table on arrival! The friendly local pub, The Star, is within walking distance and the fare was above average. All was as it was described and we thoroughly enjoyed our five day stay.

    Charlie2018-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • It was a lovely cottage, adequate for our small group (3 adults) with all necessary amenities available. Felt great to be welcomed with classic Cornish scones and lovely flowers on the table. Great base to explore Cornwall. The only minor thing to note that there is no common toilet (only 1 toilet with the main bedroom), but we knew it before booking anyway and was not an issue for us.

My place is close to the beaches and great views of The Atlantic in the north and the sea in the south. There are restaurants and dining and art and culture in nearby towns of Falmouth and St Ives. It's an unique area where you can discover old Cornish mining sites. You’ll love my place because of the views and the space in my garden. The cottage is cosy and full of light. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families with kids.

  • A super location to explore Lizard Peninsula and Land's End....Very private..It was a lovely place to come home to in the evening and chill after a day's walking or exploring....You'll need a car .. but if you don't mind driving , then most places are within an hour's drive, worst case.....we were very happy we chose it....I doubt you'll find anything nicer within 50 miles..

    Donal2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Everything what you need is available. Paul is a fantastic host and very friendly. The apartment is clean and very cosy. We felt very comfortable.

  • Lovely place and ideal location for exploring Cornwall if you have a car. The place is beautiful and exactly like the photos suggest. The surroundings are really lovely too with a big garden for guests to use. Paul is a great host - he was easy to communicate with and flexible with us on the day of check in. The location is about a 20 minute-drive away from Falmouth, St Agnes and St Ives, and there are also smaller villages close by. We really enjoyed our stay here and certainly recommend!

    Pauliina2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • A little peace of paradise in Cornwall. Spotlessly clean, beautiful apartment with lovely gardens and views to enjoy. Paul is a great host, great with the communication and was there when we arrived to welcome us which was lovely to be shown around and pick his brain about a couple of things. Lovely hot powerful shower which is always a plus in my book, very comfy bed too, and all the cooking equipment you could need too. During our visit wifi was non existent, but I had 4G/H anyway so didn't bother me. The pub down the road is ok, nothing special, as its next to a camp site and the only pub in the area it does get busy with families and groups. We found an amazing restaurant in Falmouth called La Cave, highly recommend that for a romantic candle lit meal, or even if you want some of the best mussels you will ever eat.

    Sabrina2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a brilliant stay at this lovely apartment. Paul arranged to meet us on arrival, was very helpful, gave us some useful local tips, and was quick to reply to any questions we had during our stay. The apartment is perfect for a couple - it’s a good size, modern, clean and has everything needed for a break away. We really enjoyed staying here and wouldn’t hesitate to do so again!

The Piggery at the newly-renovated Moorfield Barns is a spacious double room with a well-appointed en-suite shower room, set within a self-contained annexe which in the distant past (as the name suggests) was the piggery of a working farm. The annexe has separate access and features a private sun terrace and ample off-road parking. Towels and bed linen are provided, as well as free Wi-Fi, a 42" flat screen TV (with Freeview) and tea & coffee making facilities.
The name Praze an Beeble was first recorded in 1697 and means the meadow of the pipe/conduit. The pipe can still be seen in the well opposite the entrance to medical centre. There is a granite-lined ancient well on the site from which all of the domestic water is drawn. The water is of excellent quality (it is also filtered) and comes from the same source as the conduit after which the village is named. The main building which forms the owner's accommodation (formerly the cow shed, the old cart store and hay loft) is now fully modernised and joined by a large sun room. The barns lie next to the Praze Stream, which runs through the garden and eventually joins the Red River north of Nancemellin near Gwithian. The village is in the parish of Crowan and is an ideal base from which to explore west Cornwall. It is a short drive to both the north and south coasts and the main towns of Hayle, St Ives, Penzance, Helston, Camborne and Redruth are all easily accessible. Praze boasts a pub, the St Aubyn Arms (which has an excellent food menu), a village shop & post office (open 7am to 7pm, 7 days per week), a fish and chip shop and a bakery (selling the famous Philp's pasties). Historically, the St Aubyn family had their main residence here at Clowance Estate, which is now . Every July locals and visitors enjoy the Praze Fair, which involves a parade of local residents and pupils from Crowan School, and a local marching band, and is preceded by a week-long visit from a touring funfair.

  • We had a brilliant stay here in January. The room is brilliant with some lovely touches from the hosts which equal a great stay. I couldn’t recommend this place high enough and I hope to stop off there again next time I’m in the area. We had a lovely check in on arrival from Esther including some local tips as to where to eat and where to walk! Thank you Esther and David for a fantastic stay!

  • Had a lovely stay with Esther and David. There’s a pretty little stream right next to the property, a short walk into the village and only a short drive to St Ives.

  • The perfect spot for a holiday. Myself and my partner stayed in Ester's cozy place for a week and it was superb! The room was sparking clean, warm and spacious. It was in the perfect location, allowing us to explore all of Southern Cornwall. The kettle and the hot drinks provided were such a lovely touch. Couldn't fault our stay at all! Thank you ever so much for being so warm and welcoming.

  • Esther and Dave have built a really lovely room and bathroom at the old piggery. Communication was swift and easy. The room was self contained, warm, clean, and comfortable. Just an all round beautiful spot to spend a few nights and to explore the surroundings in Cornwall. Lovely pub just up the road that did great food for a reasonable price. Highly recommend a visit!

    Rob2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about our stay here was perfect from the exceptional hospitality to the keen eye for detail needed to design such a unique and cosy hut. Randall and Annie went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and at home, giving us fresh eggs and homemade bread aswell as a welcome hamper with lots of goodies, even a bottle of prosecco to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday! We can't wait to return in the summer and have already recommended 'Tinners retreat' to family and friends.

    Harry2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • I couldn’t say a single bad thing about this wonderful hut! It’s the most cosy, warm, beautiful and magical place to stay! A great little escape. Randall and his wife Annie are incredibly hospitable and kind. Couldn’t recommend more and will be coming back in the sunnier months! Thank you!

    Flora2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Although I am two meters tall, I felt comfortable in the shepherd's wagon. There is enough space for everything and we had a good time there. Randall and his wife are very nice hosts and we would stay there again anytime if we were nearby. In addition to the stove, there is underfloor heating that gives a very pleasant feeling of warmth.

    Ingo2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful, comfortable place to relax, keep warm and enjoy the quiet countryside. The house is small but beautifully designed and has everything you need. We loved our stay. Randall and Annie are superb hosts, who were extremely helpful, generous and kind to us throughout our stay. Annie brought us fresh bread on our first morning, which was delicious. Randall picked us up and dropped us off at the train station, despite extreme delays on the train line and helped carry our (extremely heavy) luggage up a hill in the dark. What more could you ask for?

    Sarah2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a beautiful stay at the Tinner's Retreat to see in the new year. Randall was extremely accommodating and lovely to meet. The accommodation was everything we needed and wanted, and was a perfect rounding up of our little Cornish adventure! Would 100% recommend.

    Sue2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Delightful stay - the hut was absolutely charming and we both enjoyed the comfort and the cosiness. The attention to detail of the interior was very impressive and the variety of treats that we discovered was just lovely - from the welcome basket of delicious goodies to the handmade toiletries in the shower room. Both Randall and Annie were welcoming, kind and thoughtful. A wonderful and memorable stay all round!

    Avril2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Such a superb place to stay, totally different and beautiful cabin. Some really thoughtful details, the mince pies were yummy, the bathroom is incredible. Randall and Annie went above and beyond during our stay and an absolute joy to speak to. Would love to stay again

We have a beautiful home which we would love to share with our guests, although named a Cottage, it is a substantial property. The location is very central for visiting the best of what Cornwall has to offer. We want to make your stay pleasant & memorable.
Our guests will enjoy the dinning area where their morning breakfast is available, there is also a microwave in this room & can be used up to 9:00 pm. If you are wishing to relax we have a small conservatory with the addition of a Gas Stove which can be used for those chilly winter evenings. Or if your stay is during the Cornish summer, the patio area is a must.
We love living here in Camborne it has an official ‘Market & Fair’ rights dating back to 1708. Camborne has a Town trail which is an enjoyable circular stroll around the town centre, a great way to discover the towns remarkable history through the buildings and architecture which provides clues to the past. The town has some lovely independent shops to take in. If you are feeling a little more active there are some great routes to walk or cycle from the property.
  • We passed a really nice time. Great people, helpful with everything, and stunning home. They took really good care of us will go back for sure!

  • Absolutely loved our stay here, while we explored the south of Cornwall for a couple days. Excellent location for day trips to the coast . We didn't get to meet Michelle, but Charlie, their son, met us and was a fabulous host. Really enjoyed getting to visit with Charlie, and he gave us some great recommendations. The house is lovely, with a very nice area setup with a great continental breakfast. Had a great nights sleep here, comfortable bed. But, the best was the huge deep soaker tub in the spacious washroom! It was the ticket to relax after a strenuous day hiking the coast. Highly reccomend

  • It was a little hard to find which is the only negative thing i could bring up. We could Park just in Front of the House, they carried our luggage upstairs, room and bathroom were very clean and had everything one could ask for. Breakfast was prepared and ready for us (toast, jam, cereal, joghurt...) and the two dogs are really cute! Would definetely recommend and come back!

We were shown around by Sandra on arrival and we were impressed by the whole place, it was spotlessly clean and very welcoming. We will definitely be back and would encourage anyone wanting a short break in Cornwall to consider Sunnybank as you will be hard pressed to beat it. Thank you Sandra for a really good few days.

Characterful newly built annexe, finished to a high standard throughout. Spacious open plan lay out with kitchen/living area and full-size double sofa bed downstairs and large bedroom/bathroom upstairs. Private garden. Set in the heart of a quiet, historic village. Excellent base for walking and cycling. 5 miles to St Ives bay with its long sandy beaches, ideal for families/water-sports. Located 20 mins drive to St Ives and 5 mins drive to the A30, providing access to many locations in Cornwall.
The Annexe has a cosy home from home feel with wood burner, TV/DVD player, DVDs, books and board games provided. The peaceful, attractive garden area has table and chairs and is ideal for outdoor eating and relaxation. Sofa bed, extra mattress and travel cot available for children/additional guests (we would suggest The Annexe is suitable for 4 people max). Bathroom accessible through the bedroom. Access required through garden by owners. Roadside parking is available in village. Tea, coffee and milk provided.
5 minute drive to the local town providing supermarkets, shops, restaurants and pubs. Local area is a world heritage site of historical tin mining with various museums and attractions nearby. Penponds village contains the National Trust managed former home of Richard Trevithick, inventor of the steam engine.
  • Beautifully clean, cosy and stylish, the annexe is a wonderful place to base yourself on a trip to Cornwall. The location is fantastic: just a short drive from St Ives, Falmouth & Land's End. The Annexe is well stocked with towels, cooking utensils etc. We would happily return here for our next Cornwall trip. Be sure to visit the local pub St Michael's Mount Inn, the whole village will welcome you with open arms!

    Sam2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • From the minute we booked we had plenty of information. The directions provided to find The Annexe were spot on and easy to follow. Access was easy although parking can be a little tricky. It very much feels like a home from home. Everything you need in a kitchen, living space and bathroom. Personally the pillows were too soft but that’s just personal taste. A lovely looking wood burner but we sadly didn’t need to use it as it wasn’t quite cold enough. We cooked almost every night and breakfast and found everything we needed to do so. Shower was lovely and hot water always available. Location wise it’s really easy to get to St Ives and surrounding area. Jenny leaves a folder full of lots of information both to do with amenities in the annexe as well as suggestions for where to visit. Thank you for a wonderful stay Jenny. Thoroughly recommend!! xx

  • Fantastic little cozy cottage. Makes for the perfect home away from home. Everything was clean. It was well appointed with everything you might need. Quiet area. Good location.

    Andrew2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very cosy place with everything you could need. The bed is comfortable, shower good and the kitchen well stocked. The outside area is also nice to have for the good weather. The place was very clean and even though you’re next to the road it really isn’t a problem, very few vehicles pass. In the property is a book of varied recommendations which is great to have. We really enjoyed our stay here and would certainly stay again!

    Rebecca2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • We found the cottage fairly quickly. It's on the right on a corner about 100m after the railway bridge, at the junction of Fore Street, Mill Rd and Higher Penponds Road. There is usually parking very close. Access through the back gate via lockbox was easy. It's a quiet area about a mile or so from Camborne centre for shops/supermarkets. You're more likely to see horses passing and kids on bikes than cars! Unfortunately we didn't eat out anywhere locally though there are some good pubs and restaurants in Camborne. The cottage has an open plan kitchen/diner/lounge on the ground floor and has plenty of windows. The sofa was comfortable and a large round table for 4 was great. The kitchen has plenty of storage, including a large under stairs cupboard for provision. There was lots of cooking and cleaning essentials provided and plenty of crockery and utensils for cooking. There is a small garden with table and chairs outside up a few steps which gets the morning sun. There is free standing coat rack, books to read and lots of information and leaflets on things to do in the area provided. The wifi was quick and reliable. There's no door to the stairs, top or bottom, so do be aware noise travels if you're a light sleeper. The bathroom is also accessed from the bedroom. Both rooms have lots of windows so plenty of natural light. There is a large chest of drawers, bedside tables and wardrobe with rails and shelves for storage, as well a nice chair for reading. We found the bed and pillows soft but that's personal preference. The bathroom has a large walk in shower but no bath. It was very powerful and plenty of hot water. Do note there is a locked door here which leads through to Jenny's cottage next door and is not used during the visit. We did see Jenny once and had a nice but brief chat. All in all a great stay for us a base for visiting the local attractions/National Trusts and I definitely recommend this.

  • Lovely annex in a lovely village! Bedroom upstairs is lovely and spacious and plenty of storage for clothing etc. Lovely bathroom/ shower room. Kitchen was well equipped with most items you would need and a small storage cupboard for storing dry foods. Lovely comfy sofa which I understand doubles up as a sofa bed. Pretty little Garden with a table and chairs which we used one evening to have dinner. Fantastic location for Godrevy point and Gwithian beaches and a stones throw from the A30 to access the rest of Cornwall.

    Charlotte2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, clean, cosy property, well placed for exploring different areas of Cornwall. The check-in (using a code to access the keys) was very easy, and Jenny had even left us some milk and teabags, which was greatly appreciated! The property is a decent size, nicely decorated, and had lots of resources for discovering the region. Jenny responded to all of our messages very promptly, and even dropped by one evening to say hello. I thoroughly recommend a stay at The Annex!

  • We had a lovely stay at this cottage. Richard (works on behalf of the owner Arran) was prompt with emails and questions and also arranged for baby gates/cot and high chair to be at the property. The cottage is beautifuly decorated and has all the amenties you could ask for. The outside space was superb including the built in BBQ and seating area. There were lots of board games and books for all ages. Would definitely stay again.

  • We had a fantastic weekend at Ruby Farm Cottage! Great location for exploring South Cornwall and a lovely quiet spot. The cottage was clean and very well equipped with everything we needed and we appreciated the fresh flowers and treats. Make sure you remember to take towels and take note of the directions supplied - it was a bit tricky to find because we just put Porkellis into the sat nav but would have been simple if we had followed the directions. The kids appreciated the play area and we would definitely book again. Great food at the local Star Inn and Trevaskis farm shop not too far away has excellent produce.

    Lucy2018-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Richard cottage was very pleasant. We were greeted with some marvellous muffins, butter and jam, which were a very nice welcome! The owners were so kind to provide us some bathrobes, even if they were not supposed to (we actually did not notice that in the listing). The cottage is in a very quiet location, I would say that in the evening you could hear the sound of silence, as there was no noise whatsoever. The countryside around is wonderful. We would definitely reccomend it for a short or long stay.

    Alessandro2018-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful spot for a quiet break, we all had a great time. The cottage is such a nice place to be, and we lucked out with the weather. Thanks!

  • This is a typical Cornish cottage with lovely granite steps leading to the front door and a small paved eating area outside. The rural location means that it is quiet and relaxing. It is a perfect base for exploring Cornwall. The cottage has everything you need, as well as a few extra touches left by the owner. The pub is about 10 mins walk and serves good food and drink. We loved staying here and would happily stay here again.

Light airy room in Frogpool, a small village within easy reach of both the north & south coast & close to the Penryn Campus of the University of Exeter.
Situated in the quiet village of Frogpool, between Falmouth and Truro this house is perfect for anyone wanting to visit Cornwall, but stay a little off the beaten track & as such you own transport is definitely required in this area. There is always plenty of parking just outside. The room is fresh, and light, getting the afternoon sun, and a great place to stay as a base for those wanting to explore. There's a village pub that serves food and drink within walking distance. As well as the room we allow guests access to the bathroom, kitchen & outside areas. Guests are free to come & go as they please. We are pet friendly, we ask for a small additional charge payable on booking for your furry (or not so furry) friends. We're about a 10 minute drive from the University & 15 minutes from Falmouth which is the gateway to the beautiful Fal River which runs through an Area Of Natural Beauty. The town is famous for its creative buzz with many art galleries displaying contemporary works and venues showcasing independent films and live bands. The many reasons to visit include, the fascinating maritime heritage; the Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty along the Helford and Fal Rivers – perfect for walking and family days out; water sports; boat trips running from the pier and quay; and plenty of family friendly attractions. Falmouth is surrounded by several fantastic family friendly beaches and is known for its year round events calendar. Truro the only city in Cornwall is a 20 minute drive from us, the UK’s most Southerly city is a vibrant centre of shopping, culture and impressive architecture right in the heart of Cornwall. Centre stage is Truro Cathedral with its impressive gothic towers dominating the skyline. In its shadow, a warren of compact streets are home to an impressive array of independent traders. From boutiques to bookshops and designer interiors to delicatessens, this great little city offers a unique shopping experience. The café culture is pretty impressive too, with hip coffee houses, artisan ice creameries and cocktail bars dotted across the centre. We're also about a 25 minute from spectacular north coast beaches, Perranporth with it's 3 miles of golden sands & Chapel Porth with it's incredible cliffs & old mine workings are 2 of our favourites.
Our neighborhood is lovely, it's quiet and peaceful. Close to both the north & south coast beaches & plenty of walking. We are both mountain bikers, and there are some great trails right on our doorstep.
  • Cat, put her trust in me to stay in her lovely home whilst she and her husband were away, considering we haven't actually met each other. They have a lovely home which is very clean and comfortable, and I always like to treat someone else's home the same way I like people to treat mine, with care and respect. I would definitely stay there again and would highly recommend it.

Camborne, is twenty minutes from everywhere in South West Cornwall, which makes it a perfect place to stop and rest weary heads before heading off on adventures on the North, South or West coast. We have lots of parking on the street as well. Although we are close to the bus and train station I would always advise having a car to explore Cornwall. The connections are still not the fastest in the county.
The room is a double room, with a king size bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, smart TV and wardrobe. You will have access to the whole house to use at your pleasure and it will be shared with myself (age 34) and potentially another couple of guests who will have booked our other room through Airbnb. I am very knowledgeable about Cornwall and very active, I would be happy to chat to you about things to do and places to see if you want any tips :). It will be lovely to find out where you have visited and what experiences you have had.
  • Mark and Dave are two fine gents! I really enjoyed staying with the twins and they offered warm and easy going company, as well as superb local tips! Great value for money too. 5 stars all round.

If you don’t feel like cooking, the fish and chip shop in Lanner is fantastic, and Portreath Bakery (also in Lanner) sells amazing (bona fide!) Cornish pasties and other goodies. And of course being in the countryside means we have some fantastic walks directly from the farm. The vehicle gate to the left of the farmhouse leads to a bridle way which in turn leads to a network of public footpaths, including the historic and scenic mining trails. For a relatively easy 30-40 minute walk, turn right out the gate and head up the hill past the farmhouse. This will eventually lead you to the road from Lanner which you can follow back to the property in circuit.
  • A very warm welcome and a very comfortable place to stay in a lovely quiet setting. Conveniently located for north and south coasts as well as Truro and other local attractions, we (and our dogs) really enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended.

  • I stayed at the barn for 2 nights whilst visiting my daughter who is at uni in Penryn. All I can say is I’m so glad I found the barn! What an absolute gem it is. Iain and Julia were fabulous hosts, welcoming and friendly. The barn was so cosy and warm , with everything you need. The large kitchen was really well equipped. The bed was sooooo comfy with beautiful cotton bed linen. It was a real treat to come back to every evening. I loved feeding the alpacas in the morning. I thought the barn was incredible value for money and would whole heartedly recommend it!

  • A very good stay and total value for money. It’s a great location if you don’t mind a little drive out in the evenings but would be completely perfect for someone looking for somewhere very quiet which is exactly how we like things! Very many thanks for having us indeed as we would certainly book again.

  • Iain’s place was lovely and cosy, it is situated in the countryside but only 5/10 min drive from the town. He has a little small holding with alpacas, angora goats and horses which is a lovely touch for an animal lover like myself! Lots of rural walks around too which is perfect for the dog!

    Lauren2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy and immaculately clean. Iain and Julia are excellent hosts with a beautiful property and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. Brilliant location for North and South coasts with stunning views of the Cornish countryside.

  • Amazingly friendly and helpful owners with a lovely Cornish farmstead. The lodge was exactly what we wanted; comfortable, warm, clean and full of character. Our dog loved the nearby walks along the bridleways and beaches, as well as the farm animals (the alpacas especially!) Communication was quick, directions were accurate and it was a bargain for the price! We would definitely stay here again.

Our rural home is perfectly situated for exploring Mid and West Cornwall. We are 5 miles from Godrevy on the north coast and about 6 from Porthleven on the South. 3 miles from the mining heritage of Camborne/Redruth, Stunning St Ives with its great beaches and restaurants is only 8 miles away. Ideal for walkers, surfers or just soaking up the country air and chilled atmosphere. We are not too far from any where.
The cottage has all the traditional characteristics of a property built in 1853, creaky floorboards, original low beams and a magnificent granite fireplace in the lounge. Fabulous kitchen which leads into the conservatory, from there into the 200 foot garden Morning sun beams into the guest room, which is next to the bathroom, and overlooks the garden. There is a comfy double bed, with storage underneath, bedside tables on both sides of the bed. A three drawer unit, hanging rail for clothes and a wall mounted t.v. The room isn't huge however adequate and comfortable for your stay. The conservatory is used for breakfast and in addition you can also use this room along with the garden.
Praze an Beeble is a rural village, with an infrequent bus service which is not suited to persons without their own transport. Praze is situated between both the north and south coasts. There are numerous walks around the village and to the quaint hamlet of Crowan, which is 1.1 miles away. The parish church , St Crewena , is situated in Crowan. It is built of Granite and dates from the 15th century. There are numerous monuments in the church yard to members of the St Aubyn family, from whom the village pub takes its name. The St Aubyn Baronetcy, of St Michaels Mount , the family seat has links to the Clowance estate which can be visited on the way to Crowan. We are situated about a 5 minute walk from the baker's which sells delicious Pasties, hairdressers, fish and chip shop, a general shop newsagent and post office which is open 7 days a week and finally The St Aubyn Arms which serves food is also in the heart of the village.

Welcome to Fern Cottage! Centrally located in the heart of South-West Cornwall, this light and airy apartment offers a haven of peace and relaxation. Nestled on the side of the valley within our glorious garden, you are 'far from the madding crowd' , yet within 20 minutes from both the north and south coasts, with their plethora of stunning beaches and coastal scenery.
Fern Cottage apartment has its own private entrance to the rear of the cottage. The French doors to the kitchen can be hooked back on sunny days, allowing you views of the garden and wildlife. You may even be visited by a cheeky hen scrounging crumbs! Don't worry, they are very friendly! The bedroom is peaceful, with double glazing and central heating if you need it on chillier nights, yet has 2 windows to fling open on balmy evenings. The shower room has plenty of storage and views over the garden. To the front, the south facing lounge/diner is filled with light and has views across the garden and beyond to fields. There is a leather sofa, wardrobe, books and information for your stay.
One of Fern Cottage's greatest assets is the fact that the historic Tresavean Tramway runs alongside the property. This tramway forms part of the Cornwall Mineral tramways project. This is a haven for cyclists, horse riders and walkers. The rich mining areas of Cornwall’s central mining district now benefit from a 60km network of multi-activity trails. New trails have recently been created to link with existing routes such as the Coast to Coast trail, being mainly traffic free. The network offers people a unique opportunity to access a wide area that is rich in mining heritage and dramatic landscapes. . You can start your day with a morning jog and listen to the bird song or adventure out on your bike to a huge network of off road trails. We have lock up space available and an outside tap for hosing off! Or if sailing and canoeing floats your boat, we have Stithians lake a 5 minute drive away with its lakeside pub renowned for good food or the beautiful tranquil waters of the Helford river only a 20 minute drive. Or why not explore our gorgeous countryside on horseback? Stables are only a 5 minute drive away. If all this activity sounds too much like hard work and relaxing is more your thing, then pop over to Falmouth, where you will be spoiled for choice of great places to eat and watch the boats. Or for a romantic sunset after a surf, you can't beat Godrevy on the north coast path, with its own colony of grey seals. If you would like to experience canoeing/kayaking on the River Fal or River Helford then do ask Randall, the Host, or visit his profile for details of the experience.
  • Beautiful accommodation in a beautiful garden! The location is perfect for getting to both coasts! We were greeted warmly by the hosts and there were fresh breakfast eggs and homemade orange marmalade as attention in the kitchen! In the bedroom was a fresh bunch of flowers! The apartment is lovingly and thoughtfully furnished for two people. We enjoyed our stay and felt very comfortable! Many thanks for everything! We like to come back !!!

  • Fern Cottage is a small but perfectly cosy and well equipped place. We stayed for a week and enjoyed the peaceful and well kept outdoor space as much as the indoors. It's a great base to explore Cornwall from and there are historical mining walks on your doorstep. Annie and Randall are wonderful hosts and genuinely nice people from our chat at the end of our stay. They are there if you need anything but aren't intrusive at all and we would recommend without hesitation.

Walking to the top of Carn Marth on clear days you can see stunning views from coast to coast. In the summer there are sometimes events at the Carn Marth Amphitheatre. Close by is Gwennap Pit which is well worth a visit. In the village is 2 local convenient shops, a bakery at the end of our lane, a local pub and a good pub for food a few minutes drive away and a Fish & Chip shop which we would highly recommend!
  • It is a small wooden "garden shed" at the bottom of the garden, it is very charming, the view is nice and full. Parking space included. Reads very well. The word "cozy" is well chosen, it's very small: shower and toilet combined in less than 2 m², well-equipped kitchen in very little space, and you have to eat on the sofa on small individual tables. We stayed there for 5 nights and that didn't stop us from enjoying our stay at all. The set is quite successful! I recommend.

  • Amazing location! Perfect spot to explore Cornwall, we drove 15minutes to Porthtowan for a gorgeous beach and dinner date at The Unicorn (and the Eco-Collective next door has yummy vegan treats too) We also drove to Land’s End and Lizard for day trips. The cabin is well equipped with everything you need. Shelley and Roger are incredible and went above and beyond to help us. The home touches are lovely as well as the scones! We cannot wait to visit in the summer. Thanks so much for a lovely winter getaway :-)

  • This is the second time my partner and I have stayed at Shelley’s lovely cabin. We enjoyed our stay so much that it was the first airB&B that we thought of when we knew we would be heading to the area again. The cabin is cozy and warm, sparkling clean and had everything we needed and more (including a few yummy home-baked extras!)

    Jess2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful warm cosy compact cabin with great views night and day! Everything you could possibly need to stay in Cornwall for a fraction of the cost elsewhere! Would highly recommend staying here! I will definitely be back next year!

    Sarah2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful little cabin with a gorgeous view! Lovely places to walk about in the beautiful Cornwall nature. Shelley is a lovely host and was thoughtful enough to get me a gluten free alternative to her usual greeting treats.

    Luke2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cosy cabin is perfectly situated, with stunning beaches on both the north and south coast a quick car journey away - but on nights like Saturday where the wind and the rain is lashing outside, all we did was brave it to the fish and chip shop down the road and spent the evening playing cards, perfectly content in this beautifully laid out little hut. It had everything we needed in the compact kitchenette, a very comfortable bed and some delicious baked goods to top it all off. Shelley and Roger are wonderfully friendly hosts with a perfect balance of good communication and a respect for privacy. I really hope to go back soon!

Tin - the powerhouse of Cornwall's industrial past. Oak wooded, heather topped valleys with crystal streams once throbbed with the racket of tin streaming - winning precious metals. Engine houses and stacks bear stark, romantic testament to a heritage borne of the bravery and determination of generations of miners and Bal maidens.A short distance inland from Perranporth, St. Agnes and Chapel Porth are the Victorian towns of Camborne and Redruth - both produced world-class inventors and engineers. Camborne's Richard Trevithick created the world's first steam-powered road engine in 1801. His achievements are celebrated at Camborne's annual Trevithick Day celebrations in April. Redruth was an astonishing crucible of industry, the Scottish engineer William Murdoch lived here in the late 18th century and developed domestic gas lighting. Today, Camborne and Redruth are busy shopping and commercial centres that share a legacy of handsome 19th-century buildings and a remarkable industrial archaeology.Further inland is Stithians Lake, for fishing, sailing, sailboarding and recently the stunning wake-boarding championships. For views of the whole region take the roads to Carn Brea or Carn Marth above Camborne. From here you can see St Ives, St Michael's Mount, Falmouth and east to Clay Country. Near here is the Great Flat Lode Trail through the mines and high moors.Cornwall's mining country is steeped in history and is the industrial heart of the county. These days, most of the mining has disappeared, but it is still a fascinating area to explore and is steeped in history. A highlight is to hire a bicycle and ride along the old mineral tramway from Devoran to Portreath or the North Coast. The harbour town of Falmouth is within a short drive with a number of attractions for the visitor. There is the fascinating National Maritime Museum or you can take a boat trip around the spectacular Carrick Roads or sample the stylish Rick Stein's Fish & Chip Restaurant or Oyster Bar.The Helford River and Lizard Peninsula are also within easy reach. Take a walk along Frenchman's Creek made famous by Daphne du Maurier, visit the National Seal Sanctuary at Gweek or take a drive down to the wild Lizard Point, Britain's most southerly point. Kynance Cove is not to be missed with its white Sands and turquoise water make this one of Cornwall's most beautiful spots.

The house is warm and homely with plenty to read and do if you're there for an extended stay. The beds are all comfortable and the rooms are spacious. So many quirky things to look at in the house, many of them reminding me of my grandparents' home which was really nice as it made it even more of a home from home for me. Thank you so much for having us and I hope to stay with you again in the future <3 Suzanne and Mylo

  • We really enjoyed our stay at the Caravan in Trevoole ! John is such a welcoming and nice host, we had lovely holidays on this quiet and large field. The location is quite central to all important sights and towns. Our highlights were hiking at the coast path, stunning beaches and landscapes, the beautiful gardens everywhere and watching the seals on Godrevy Point. John also offered information and brought us stuff for a campfire. Sooo many stars at night, amazing! Thank you so much!

  • What a great experience. We usually go camping but with two young children we decided on a caravan instead. I can honestly say that this was the best caravan experience we'd ever had. The caravan is an old Romany caravan and has so much character. It's very twee and spacious inside, and the shower and toilet facilities were a definite step up from most of the campsites we're used to. Clean, warm and cosy all round. Our daughters loved playing in the enormous field and it was safe enough for them to roam around as they wished. To top it all off, the location is great for access to all the major locations around Cornwall. John was great and really helpful all round. Helped us set up the extra bed for our older daughter, and was happy to let us BBQ and left us alone to enjoy the space. It's amazing how much space there was in the caravan, storage everywhere, electric cooker, fridge and sink, TV plus electric heating to keep us warm. Beautiful place to wake up and see the sunrise! Highly recommended for those that want piece and quiet with or without children.

  • Fantastic little caravan, very comfortable and clean with everything you need plus its in a great location. We loved the view and being able to swing in the hammocks while the bbq was sizzling. John was a lovely host and we couldn't have wished for anything else. We enjoyed his organic vegetables very much too which you can purchase daily. The location is great and near all the fantastic beaches and adventures Cornwall has to offer. We took our indecisive teenager last minute and John was very accommodating... He even left with a smile on his face 😊 We would highly recommend staying here and can't wait to visit again.

  • The caravan is just as described by the hosts and other reviewers. We loved the space and the quiet. Watching the swallows, relaxing in hammocks, and sitting out by the fire. The shower was hot and no queue like at a campsite! A thoroughly fantastic stay and quite magical. Will definitely return!

  • A wonderful restorative stay in a beautiful surprisingly spacious (with loads of storage space) campervan in a private large field, with lovely hammocks to rest and read in the afternoon, a lovely hot shower and toilet (normal flush toilet in case you were wondering!) facility nearby, you could hear the birds and feel very much a part of nature there. TV for entertainment: a more recent upgraded version from the one in the photo, and a great location to go exploring Cornwall from! Will definitely be back! Thankyou xx
