Places to stay in Carndonagh
This brand new modern cosy apartment is located just off Malin Street in the well serviced market town of Carndonagh, & situated right in the heart of the beautiful Inishowen peninsula. Inishowen is part of world famous 'Wild Atlantic Way' & is well known for its stunning scenery & miles & miles of hidden unspoiled beaches. This apartment is ideally located to explore the north of Donegal & Derry city is only a 20 min drive away. Carndonagh is well serviced by public transport.
The apartment is newly refurbished & in the centre of town, however it is not on a main road, so it really is very quiet & peaceful. Despite being extremely peaceful & private it's super-convenient & central. It's a lovely wee space & we receive great feedback from all who have stayed there. The town centre can be accessed via an alleyway less 50 meters from the apartment's door. There is access to free onsite parking. The shops, including gift shops, fashion outlets & a large Supervalu supermarket are a two minute walk away. The bakery, bars, chemists & banks are literally a minutes walk away & there are lots of lovely wee cafes & a beautiful working art studio & gallery, also just a minutes walk up the street. This small friendly town is bursting with character & charm & offers the ideal location for an enjoyable stay in stunning Donegal.
The apartment is in a quiet street near the town centre with local shops bars & restaurant's all within easy walking distance. There are some very nice restaurants & take away's that do great deals - Italian, Indian, Chinese, European, Turkish & Irish food are all available in Carndonagh - so lots of choice!

  • PHANTASTIC !!! Denise and her husband are very, very warm-hearted hosts! Their house is located in a nice village. Good parking possibility, beautiful garden, very proper, pleasing and clean rooms ..... really everything was perfect! In the evening Denise kindly drove us to the recommended restaurant, so that my wife and I could drink a beer. We and our kids sleept well in the comfortable beds. The breakfast was delicious with home made bread, home made honey and muesli with fruits from their own garden. In the end we have to say: Next time we will definitivly stay longer! Denise and Finbarr are 100%-super-super-super-HOSTS! Thank you for everything! Lots of kisses from Johanna, Julia, Susi & Jens!

Cassie's Cottage, built in the 1800's is newly refurbished and complete with all mod cons. From Malin it is 3 miles to Culdaff Beach, 4 miles to Carndonagh and 8 miles to Malin Head, the most Northerly point in Ireland and recently used as a location for filming Star Wars Episode VIII
The cottage has a shed, ideal storage space for bicycles, canoes etc The common areas are spacious, light and airy, bedrooms are compact. Unfortunately, we can't accept Sunday Check-Ins
The cottage is located just outside Malin Village in a quiet residential area. It's a 5 minute walk to the village where there is a hotel, pubs, shops and a lovely triangular green.

  • Helen was very welcoming! She greeted us when we arrived and when we left. Kept the place really warm despite it being cold outside.

    McKenzie2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed a week at Helen's place and it was such a wonderful stay. Helen is the absolute sweetest host. She made sure the cottage was nice and cozy upon our arrival and even put up a Christmas tree which was huge for our children. She also left fresh made scones for us which we really enjoyed. The house was warm, kept heat in very well though it was cold outside. The beds and furniture were very comfortable. We cooked all of our meals for a family of 5 during our week stay and never needed or lacked anything nessessary to prepare our meals. The location is great with a larger village about 10 min away. There are so many beautiful places within 20 min drive or so. Helen shared many beautiful places to go and see. We enjoyed them all. We definitely hope to return and would recommend Helen's place to anyone.

It is a very short walk to the center of town, which has some nice places to eat, have a coffee or a drink. Also some nice shops for gifts. The countryside is beautiful, with many places to visit for day trips. Conn is very nice and helpful. Highly recommend staying at Conn's place!!

The Upper House is a newly refurbished cottage in the centre of Carndonagh, a historic market town in Inishowen peninsula, the northernmost point of the island of Ireland. The town has three supermarkets, fine local bars, takeaways, and coffee shops within a few minutes walk. For golfers, Inishowen has five courses. The closest, an eight-minute drive away, is Ballyliffin Golf Club, featuring two eighteen-hole links which rank with the best in Ireland, and which hosted the recent Irish Open.
The property has recently been fully renovated. It has a new, fully functional kitchen with fitted oven, dishwasher, and washing machine. The spacious dining room seats six, and the sitting room has a multi-channel 40 inch television. It has two comfortable bedrooms, one with a new king-sized bed and one with a new double bed. There is also a camp bed, making it suitable for 4 adults and a child. The bathroom is finished to a high standard and has a spacious walk-in shower.
Carndonagh has the friendly, easy going atmosphere for which rural Ireland is famous, with a range of local businesses, clothing boutiques, barbers, hairdressers, galleries, kids clubs and more on your doorstep. The nightlife is what you would expect from a rural Irish town: on Friday night, the hustle and bustle of the local pubs will begin with live music and great craic to be enjoyed.
  • Anne’s Upper House is a very comfortable and stylish house and is very well equipped. We stayed four nights with our six year old and had ample space, parking, reading material etc, great coffee machine. Decor all very fresh and tastefully warm. Anne herself was very attentive, warm and very responsive when we had a question. She was on our doorstep with what we were looking for within five minutes of texting her. We would highly recommend staying here. And of course the area is just beautiful!

Fawn Gardens is an authentic, thatched, Irish farm cottage, in use for over 300 years. Situated in North Inishowen, it is within walking distance of picturesque Malin village (20 min) and an easy cycle or drive from Carndonagh and Culdaff. Just 35 minutes from our nearest city, Derry, it is easily accessible by bus or car. Collection can be arranged from Carndonagh for bus passengers. The area boasts many historic features and beautiful beaches.
My home is a small, traditional thatched cottage built from stone and lime, which has been occupied by my family for more than four generations. It has been modernised over the years, but is still very basic. I have a small flock of hens and a vegetable garden. If you sing or play an instrument, I would enjoy the entertainment! There are two double rooms available here, this would suit small groups of up to 4 people. The second room is listed as fawn gardens.
The Inishowen Peninsula is a unique destination. It has been described as "Ireland in miniature" because of the many contrasting landscapes which exist in such a small geographical area. We have three world class golf courses, including ballyliffin links, many beautiful beaches and, of course, Ireland's most northerly point is just a few miles to the north. (and don't forget that Malin Head is now the new home of Star Wars!) Several of the bars in the surrounding villages have live music and traditional music sessions regularly, and there are many coffee houses, restaurants and Hotels nearby. I will be happy to recommend these to you on arrival. One day is not long enough to explore the local area. I would advise anyone booking for one night only to consider allowing themselves more time to enjoy it.
  • I had been doing some cycling around Donegal for a few days and checked in to Mary's to break up the Inishowen Peninsula. Malin is a spectacular part of the world and I had a brilliant stay in Mary's lovely home. I was late arriving and starving from a long day on bike and was welcomed with a meal and a warm shower. Some of the worlds problems were solved over a few glasses of cider by the fire and I went to bed happy to have landed where I did. If you are travelling in Donegal whether by car, foot, or bicycle I highly recommend staying here. A very easy going environment with a wonderful host. I hope to return.

    Conor2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Mary's place is a quaint cottage tucked in the lush county of donegal. We spent our New Years Eve with her and her friends by the cosy fireplace and it was a really unique experience! We'd love to go back again.

    Raghu2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Mary is a delight and her cozy home is a perfect place to stay if you’re heading up to Malin Head or other parts of Donegal. She was a very generous host, and my stay was one of my favorite nights in Ireland. I felt right at home, slept very well, and enjoyed getting to hear about the area. Mary has lots of tips for the area if you need them, and ending the day next to the fire in her home is a perfect way to cap it off.

    Luke2019-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay and very informative of local culture great host lovely wee spot .thanks mary

    Greg2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed every minute in Mary's house. She shared her home and daily life with us during our stay in Fawn Garden. We recommend to stay at least 3 days to discover the spirit and the beauty of the very north of Ireland. Mary has grown up in Inishowen and definitely knows the environment, people and history very well. Come and see yourself!

    Helmut2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant host, brilliant location! Very quaint and quirky. Perfect for an authentic Irish experience!

    Kathryn2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Staying in Mary’s traditional, thatched roof cottage is like experiencing a little bit of history. The cottage is about 300 years old and the walls are lined with stories and pictures of Mary’s family. It’s a wonderful experience and the location is perfect for exploring the area, though having a car for getting around is definitely recommended.

  • Mary was super helpful throughout the whole process. When we arrived she had made sure the heating was on as we were there for storm Ciara and Dennis so wasnt the greatest weather but once the heating kicked in the cottage was lovely and cosy. We were there for a wedding in Ballyliffin so was a bit of a drive but so lovely to see more of Ireland than just one town. Also, the bonus is it's not far from some Star Wars film locations :) The cottage itself is fully kitted out for self-catering and Mary left us some milk, tea and coffee. There is a hairdryer as well which was great as I didn't need to bring mine on the plane over. You also have chickens for neighbours so don't be too alarmed seeing them walk past the window :) Mary was an absolutely fab host and I would highly recommend Crega Cottage x

  • Colette was the perfect host. She was very welcoming, friendly and helpful and gave great recommendations on where to visit and how to best plan our three night stay on the Inishowen Peninsula. Our room was very clean and spacious. It was also well stocked with water, tea, coffee and toiletries. Her location, close to the village of Carndonagh meant that we were near restaurants, pubs and grocery shopping. It was an excellent gateway to explore the entire peninsula and all the scenic spots were within short driving distance. We'd definitely stay here again.

Hop in the car and take the scenic drive to Malin Head, Ireland’s most northerly point with its famous weather station and Farren’s Pub, the most northerly pub. Malin town is famous for its Tidy Town awards and the second longest stone bridge in Ireland. Passing over the beautiful ten arches on your way back to Carndonagh, you can then take the road to the Isle of Doagh and the famous Doagh Famine Village where you will see the original cottages that were occupied by the same family from the 1840’s right up until 1980’s. Lunch awaits in nearby Ballyliffin in one of the four hotels or the club house at the Ballyliffin Golf Club, home of the 2018 Irish Open. This property is excellent for golfing enthusiasts with Ballyliffin, Greencastle and Lisfannan courses all close by and a short drive from Portsalon, Portrush and Portstewart. For those looking for some adrenaline from their holiday, try your hand at some of the water-sports available, go horse riding on the beach, take a boat trip out to sea or go fishing. For a more leisurely pursuit, revel at one of the festivals held in the area in the summer months with the Clonmany Festival being one of the biggest country music festivals in Ireland. There are also cycling events, treasure hunts, raft races and talent competitions offering entertainment for all ages. Go on an adventure taking a day trip to the historic walled city of Derry, a European city of culture, visit the museum, take a bus tour or immerse just yourself in the "craic" with locals in traditional Irish music pubs. The towns of Buncrana and Letterkenny are close by and boast many immenities and don’t forget the chance for an unforgettable day trip to the County Antrim coastline via the Lough Foyle Ferry. This is a really lovely property in an excellent location, the Wild Atlantic Way where foamy waves lap sandy shores is just waiting to be explored.
  • Lovely cottage, very cosy.

  • The cottage is as cute and cosy as the photos suggest - it has all the facilities you would need and is perfectly placed to explore this beautiful area. Fiona is an excellent host - communication was great throughout - what really made the stay was the personal touches to the cottage , including having the heat on for us arriving - very much appreciated ! The cottage is only 20 minutes walk from the nearest pub/ shop and only a further 10 minutes into the town itself. We would highly recommend staying here - Thanks Fiona .

  • We had a fantastic stay at Fiona’s beautiful cottage. Very well located for exploring the local beaches and Fiona provided excellent information about where to visit. The cottage itself was even more beautiful than the pictures and the turf fire was wonderful!

  • I cannot fault or write a bad word on this amazing cottage a great spot to explore Innisowen Peninsula .Carndonagh is a bustling wee village and the people so friendly some grt places to eat anyone who stays here will come away with the same view.

  • Whispering willows cottage is a little piece of tranquility in the middle of Inishowen! This cottage is decorated to a very high standard and is very modern, whilst still feeling cosy and intimate. From the moment you pull up outside it just feels like stepping into an old Irish home that has been modernised. The bathroom is every woman's dream, big comfy roll top bath, rain fall shower, at the back of the house where there is silence. There is even a wooden bath board which holds a glass of wine, a phone, and a book or tablet holder. The only problem you will face is how to keep the water warm while you sit and enjoy your time out. Go from there into the large comfy bed for a heavenly evening of deep restful sleep. What more could you want? There is everything you could possibly need in this cottage. Fiona very kindly provides salt, sugar, tea, coffee, jams, everything to get you going. The heating takes 1 euro for 40 mins of heat. Our week there was cold and wet everyday, 40 mins both morning and evening was enough to keep any chill out. We hastened to light the large stove fire in case it got too warm, but I can imagine in the winter that would be a dream to sit in front of on a cold night. There is lots to do around Inishowen and the town of Carndonagh is a little gem with plenty of places to eat, drink and enjoy. We loved our stay, I can't wait to go back.

  • This place is unbelievable. It’s cosy, gorgeous and immaculately clean. Really good tips from fiona for places to see and things to do. Everything you need shopping wise too within walking distance. Can’t wait to get planning again to get away to this cottage.

The apartment is cozy, but has all the modern conveniences- dishwasher, cable, wifi, etc. It was perfect for our family of 5. The place was spotlessly clean and we had access to the lovely garden and swings/slide, which the kids enjoyed. The views from Bredgeen's place are lovely. I highly recommend the short drive around the Isle of Doagh because the scenery is absolutely amazing. Just bring a coat because it can be super windy!

An architecturally designed modern home on the Wild Atlantic Way, overlooking a wild bird sanctuary with an elevated bird hide at the bottom of the garden; binoculars and bird books in the library. The house is a short drive to Malinhead with its Northern Lights and its Star Wars' location and yet only 2 kms out from Malin Village. Two bicycles are provided, ridden at guests' own risk and the beautiful Five Fingers Strand is a short cycle or walk away. The hottub is also available for guests.
There is a garden house with a ping pong table for use of guests, a bird hide to bird watch and there is a hottub available in the garden with prior booking, used by guests at their own risk. The hottub is in the open air up beside the main house, screened by bushes but with a sea view. It is available for booking from March until October. An area photograph locates its position.
We are on the way to Malinhead, the most Northerly point in Ireland where Star Wars was shot and where the Northern Lights are sighted. We overlook Trawbreaga Bay, across to Doagh Island and a short drive from Doagh Famine Village and Lapland Doagh Island and Ballyliffen golf course.
  • If we could give more stars we would, our whole stay was out of this world! The drive down was beautiful and when we reached the house we were blown away. Denise is so welcoming and has thought of everything you could need, she put us at ease right away as this was our first time using airbnb. The house itself is spotlessly clean, really cosy and the artwork is stunning. We kept finding more things to look at! We didn't want to leave and are already planning our next trip here. Highly recommend for a relaxing trip, we found it very good for the soul.

  • The location of Rock House is absolutely superb. The views are fantastic. The house has everything you need to be comfortable and what a pleasure to stay there. You are close to some of the most fabulous scenic drives and towns. The shops are easily accessible. We spent Christmas there and it was so tranquil. You can spend hours just watching the tidal fluctuations of Trawbreaga Bay from the whole house! The house was always cosy and warm despite the very cold weather.

  • There are no words in English to describe this place. Phenomenal comes a long way short of this place to stay. Denise is an outstanding host, the house has everything you need...and the view......Outstanding.

A rare jewel. Ballyboe is a traditional Donegal Cottage built well over 100 years ago yet modernized to give you the guest the best of both worlds. Set in its own 6 acres of farmland the cottage has been sensitively updated and modernized and combines total seclusion and privacy with surrounding farmland (guests get sole use of whole site) yet close to many attractions and nearby towns. The accommodation is designed mainly for up to 5 people - double bed in one room and 3 singles in another.
It can sleep up to 8 with a a fold away single bed and the sofa in the living room is also a double bed should it be needed. But 8 will make you feel very cramped so best to regard it as 5 maybe 6 people place (if the double room people don't mind sharing with the fold away bed). It has all the home comforts you will want with fully equipped kitchen, shower and bath, TV and DVD and Super fast fibre wifi. The cottage has full central heating and also a log fire stove with free logs provided should you wish to use it. Ballyboe is fully and safely enclosed in its own grounds so is very child friendly. It has a drive with off street parking for added security and safety. Guests get sole use of cottage and surrounding area and nearest neighbours during stay are 100 metres away. Out the back of the cottage you have your very own 6 acre field to explore complete with a fairy forest and its very own bluebell wood and there may be a couple of friendly horses in the field when you come and if so they love it if you feed them carrots during your stay! The cottage is well fenced from the field though so the horses stay in the field. Beyond that again there is another 5 acres of magical forest planted by Tony in 2007 that you are also free to explore at your leisure. Not many places you can go to find such a fantastic traditional Donegal cottage and 11 acres of grounds to go with it all in the price!
Ballyboe is in a rural area near Malin Town. It is over 100 metres from the nearest house so total seclusion is guaranteed. It is set in its own 6 acres of farmland with a forest behind that too. You can explore these though the owner's cannot accept responsibility if you do sorry! Ballyboe is located within the spectacularly beautiful Inishowen Peninsula which itself is part of the Wild Atlantic Way. The scenery is stunning. There are wonderful beaches and attractions nearby such as Malin Head the most northerly point in Ireland, Doagh Famine Village which should not be missed, Fort Dunree, Ballyliffin Golf Club where the 2018 Irish Open was held is just 10 minutes away and much more. Ballyboe is also a wonderful place to unwind and do absolutely nothing! Most food can be obtained in Malin Town where there are also two great pubs to meet locals and hear music and larger Supermarkets are in Carndonagh 7km miles away. McGrorys famous pub in Culdaff is only 5 km away plus there are two good pubs in Malin Town and Lily's has traditional music sessions on some nights.
  • Wonderful, excellent host. Amazing location and homely home. If in doubt just book! Beautiful peaceful retreat

    Laura2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful cottage! Almost like the one in the movie The Holiday! :) Lots to do around Ballyboe, from sand to wild rocky beaches, beautiful landscapes. Mc Grory's pub didn't disappoint ( suggested by Tony) on Christmas eve. Our stay was comfortable! The fireplace kept us warm and snuggly. Tony is a warm person and ever so enthusiastic to make us feel at home. His freshly baked bread was delicious! Recommend the place.

    Shalmali2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely amazing time at Tony's cottage. Tony is a great host, who was more than helpful in terms of directions, local advice and being on point for any questions. His home made bread was superb - you should open a bakery Tony ! The cottage is beautiful. The Donegal weather can be cold at times, but the house heats up in no time. The fire is fantastic. The four friendly horses were a treat to see every time we stepped out of the house. We'll be back!

    Denis2019-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for 5 days in chilly November and really enjoyed the cottage and surrounding area. It's cosy and very private, and bigger than the photos suggest. Very clean, fully kitted-out kitchen, and fridge pre-stocked with useful stuff like milk, butter, jam etc. Tony was a great host - the fresh-baked bread was a nice bonus :) It's located in the countryside but a short hop to shops and great pubs, cafes and restaurants - as well as beaches, cliffs etc. Hoping to return soon!

    Andrew2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • A return visit for us to Tony’s place. Brilliant as ever. So cosy and clean. We just love the locations. It’s exactly where we want to be in Donegal. We’ll be back again!!

    Hannah2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first stay in Ballyboe and I'm pretty sure we will stay there again if Tony will have us. Ballyboe is ideally situated for exploring inishowen and further if you wish. We were visiting family so it was great for having a few visitors as well. The house itself was a very comfy and safe feeling which made for a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. The kitchen was well equipped and very clean with a good sized fridge freezer which was great. The bathroom is bright with a good sized shower unit and separate bath, both exceptionally clean. The living room is at the front of the house and in the morning when the sun came through the windows it really was lovely. The bedrooms were also bright and fresh. The beds and pillows were clean and comfy and the bed linen had a lovely fresh smell which was nice. Parking was a private driveway with enough turning space at the back of the house and I could park right outside the back door which is perfect if its raining. I could go on but I think you get the idea that we loved our stay in this lovely Irish cottage. Tony our host was fab and made us feel right at home and easy to contact if needed. He was at the property when we arrived and gave us a tour of the house showing us how things worked water, heating etc. Then before he left gave us a lovely freshly baked loaf of bread which was very kind of him. So that thanks again Ballyboe and Tony and hope who ever stays enjoys it as much as we did

    Elise2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here at the weekend, and I must say that Tony is a super host. On arrival, he had freshly baked bread for us. The cottage itself is clean beautiful and within walking distance of Malin. Tony left us plenty of firewood for the weekend, and the cottage has all the mod cons. We will be back !!

    Darragh2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Where do I start, I think it has to be with Amazing. All communication with Tony prior to our stay was exceptional. Tony met us at Ballyboe earlier than check in time, with a really warm welcome. Like other guests we were gifted with Tony's homemade bread, delicious. The cottage is perfect, incredibly clean. So many beautiful places to see, beaches are stunning. Tony gave us great tips on local amenities and was very informative and genuinely funny. This place is beautiful and Tony is a great host. We would highly recommend and we are looking at when we can return.

  • Colette is very nice person. 3 of us travelled to Donegal without prior planning and reached at late night. She accepted our booking and accommodated us in last minute at late night. She also suggested us sweet spots to visit in the locality and provided us with blankets, scarfs, bright room with coffee/tea, water and fresh Breakfast in the early morning. She is very sweet and lovely person, we literally fell in love with location/hospitality of the property and strongly recommend this place.

Our beautiful holiday home is set on Ireland's famous Wild Atlantic Way.
Lochlea is a modern, detached villa set in extensive grounds with stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
Gleneely has a small shop and two pubs, both of which serve food. Culdaff, with its award winning beach, is a short drive away.
  • Spacious house with all modern conveniences, lacking nothing and in a good location to reach either coast of the Inishowen peninnsula within 20 mins drive. Famine village at Doagh well worth a family visit and do take the time to stop and visit the incredible beach at Doagh - a real highlight of our trip. Cannot wait to go back to this part of Donegal and stay in Lochlea once more!

Ard Cottage is a 130 year old lovingly refurbished cottage, situated in the townland of Clonmany on the Inishowen Peninsula. The cottage has views of Inishowen’s highest Mountain Slieve Sneacht, and its surrounding hills. It is located only a few km from Ballyliffin Golf Club and is close to surfing on Pollan Beach. Nancy's Barn in Ballyliffin does a nice Irish Breakfast and you can enjoy lovely food and a nice pint of Guinness at The Rusty Nail Traditional pub which is also only a short drive,
The Cottage is comfortably furnished and features an open fireplace and Jacuzzi bath. Its 2 bedrooms can accommodate 4 people (& up to 6 with sofa bed provided). The cottage also has an enclosed garden and an adjoining shed for the storage of bicycles, surf boards, fishing rods and golf clubs.Turf and logs are stacked in the shed for use by guests, to keep a nice glowing fire alive on cold evenings. There is also ample car parking.
A five minute drive away is Clonmany, a traditional village in the heart of the Peninsula. The name of the town in Irish is "Cluain Maine" and is translated as "The Meadow of the Monks". The surrounding area has many natural beauty spots, points of interest and many hiking trails to explore along this Northern part of the Wild Atlantic Way. After a great day of activity, the 'Rusty Nail' is the ideal pub to unwind with delicious food and live music on Sundays and of course they serve a great pint of Guinness!
  • Great cottage, amazing views and beaches. Kids and dog loved it.

  • Such a beautiful cottage set in the country side with beautiful views and a short drive to local amenities. The cottage was immaculate on arrival and Winnie had the heat on for us arriving, the hosts were very friendly and answered messages straight away, all beds were very comfortable including the sofa bed, would definitely go back

  • Great place for a quite break away 👍👍

    Gary2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Really great little cottage, perfect for a couple with their dogs. The local stores are about 2 miles away and this property is ideal for those who wish to simply get away from all the noise. As recommended by both host and leaflets on the local area left in the property we visited all the local beaches and glenevin waterfall was truly spectacular! I would reccomend for anyone looking to go sightseeing to travel up to Malin head and visit five finger strand on the way back, the most amazing beach we came across on our trip. We loved it so much here that we extended our trip whilst on holiday and wish we didn't have to leave. Thank you so much to siobhan and winnie for making this trip so wonderful!

    Helen2019-06-14T00:00:00Z

    Darren2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cottage ,comfortable beds and very clean ,enclosed garden was good for dog and well located for beaches and eating out

    Michael2019-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage, elegantly furnished with a nice fireplace for the cosy evenings. Nice and warm, in a quiet neighborhood, perfect to visit all the sites of interest in Inishowen. Siobhan was very reactive, and Winnie, who welcomed us , was fantastic ! She lives down the road and was very helpful.

    Luan2019-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stay at Siobhan's place. The cottage is very central to explore lots of places in this area of Donegal. We visited a number of great beaches (2 within 10 mins drive). Clonmany and Ballyliffin handy to get to if you need anything or are heading out. House has the basics, all you need for a couple of days away. Nice to be able to light the fire on the cold evenings. Only used one bedroom but it was well furnished and comfortable. The cottage is just in the side of a through road but didn't hear any traffic noise in the evenings. Just to note there is no WiFi and no microwave so be aware if you'll be relying on these. Overall had a lovely few days, the dog was happy to have the back garden to explore (if you've a nervous dog just be aware there are local dogs roaming about and one came in over the back wall, but that didn't bother mine). If you want to have a good base and a comfortable home to stay in then Ard Cottage is ideal.

The cottage is 12kms from Bamba's Crown, Malin Head, Ireland's most Northerly Point. Scenes from the most recent Star Wars Film, The Last Jedi, were filmed there in 2016. Depending on the time of your visit, you may also be lucky enough to see the Northern Lights, or get a glimpse of the dolphins as they dance towards the pier in Malin Head.

We cooked a happy little dinner for two and had a great experience just talking with Karl and his pup. His recommendations were lovely and we went Malin head, breathtaking views! We got to meet Frank the Cat as we were departing and being introverts that kitty was pure life force. Everything about this place is perfect. We will never forget the fond memories and kind host. Be sure to look through the pictures of the restoration of Tattoo Lady. 1000% would stay here again. Best experience ever!!!!

  • The tattoo lady is a great little gem. Loved our night there. The view from the front door is unforgetable. Dan the dog was a lovely addition to our stay :)

  • We spent twelve days at Karl's and Kate's trailer. It was surprising how well and tasteful the small place was furnished. We also had all cooking and other utensils/tools (great wood fire stove too) to make us feel right at home. Karl and Kate are excellent hosts, taking very good care of every aspect of one's stay. Definitely a place to recommend to everyone that looks for an original place (in beautiful surroundings/nature) to stay. Very helpful and friendly, extraordinary couple to meet.

  • The Tattoo lady has to be one of our most favourite experiences. Karl and Kate are the perfect hosts and couldn’t fault anything. We didn’t want to leave as the stay was like being in your own cosy home. I would highly recommend this stay to anyone looking to do something a bit different. The location is spot on too which is always a bonus. We will be back. Thank you again!!

  • The ‘Tattoo Lady’ is a very special place. The wagon is spotlessly clean, cosy and so homely. There is a real magic to the space and you feel so at peace there. The location is stunning and the views from the wagon are breathtaking. Karl and Kate added some really thoughtful touches to the stay and we immediately felt at ease and at home in the wagon. Karl showed us around the wagon and was so welcoming and friendly. A lovely host. I honestly can not recommend this place enough.

  • We enjoyed a long weekend break here. The house was gorgeous with every need catered for, from stocked essentials to hot water bottles. It is exactly as the photos show, beautiful throughout. Fiona is a fantastic host who replies quickly to any queries. There are shops and restaurants close by. Just what we needed to relax with family, an open fire and great company. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend a stay here.

  • This is a great house in a perfect location in the village. The welcoming touches were the among the best we've experienced on AirBnB (food and wine) and reflect the reputation of Donegal again people as perhaps the nicest people in Ireland. The house was spacious and sparkling clean and Toni who met us was very helpful. We would stay there again at the drop of a hat and would recommend highly.

  • The pictures in some ways don't do the house justice. It is a beautiful place and the personal touches to make us feel welcome were really well thought out and impressive. The converter plug for the US to Ireland shows that they really are paying attention to detail.

  • I stayed here for two nights with my family, 6 of us in total. It was perfect for us. We had plenty of space, and great kitchen with everything we needed, including the dishwasher which was very handy. Also, we were delighted there was a washing machine and tumble dryer to get our laundry done. I highly recommend Paul's house.

  • We (hill/coastal/walkers) wanted a comfortable house in the middle of Innishowen that would give us easy access to a variety of hillswalks etc. Paul's place ticked all the boxes. The house is really well located in the centre of the beautiful town of Malin. We were welcomed by Christina and the house is modern, clean and stylish. Very close to Lily's pub, a small supermarket, a butchers (fantastic sausages) and the village cafe. (delicious fresh fish). Overall, we would highly recommend this accommodation. We'll be back! Thanks Paul & Christina. Regards Austin
