Cottage vacation rentals in Rethimnon

Stayed here for three weeks in April. The Makis mother did her absolute best to make us feel at home right away - she often brought us home cooked pastries and Greek desserts. Starlink Internet was stable and fast, had no issues with it. You are pretty high up in the mountains so it can get chilly if you are not going in summer, when we arrived it was pretty cold inside. Water pressure is not great but manageable, it's also solar hot water, so the temperature can be hit and miss. The place has hotel-like access card for the lights and sockets, so when you leave everything turns off, which can be a bit of nuisance. Not much natural light inside, but the mains lighting inside is more than sufficient during night time. For better or worse you are middle of nowhere surrounded by mountains and sheep's, thus there is really no reception in the area, for sms and calls you need to go outside.

Such a beautiful home, with an amazing view of the mountains! Perfect view of the Milky Way at night from the private balcony. The home was extremely clean and well decorated. The air conditioning was modern, functional and very welcoming after long days at the beach. The bed was soft and very comfortable. If you don’t mind narrow, winding roads up the mountain, it is the perfect place to stay! 40 minutes drive to Chania, and within 2 hours drive of most major, popular beaches. Nikos was very kind, responsive, and welcoming. Thanks to his hospitality, my stay in Crete was an outstanding experience!

Absolutely beautiful home in a stunning area. The ride out to Theriso was beautiful and the village was so peaceful. We sat outside in the evening listening to the night sounds and watching the stars. The beds were comfortable and the house had everything we needed. lovely restaurants close by. Great place with a lot of character

Die Villa liegt wunderschön in einer Sackgasse am Berg des kleinen Örtchens Armenoi. Alles ist prima gepflegt, sauber und stimmungsvoll. Alle Sanitärfunktionen sind sehr gut in Schuss, die Küche gut incl. Spülmaschine ausgestattet und die Schlafbereiche gepflegt. Der Grill hat tadellos funktioniert und Kohle und Anzünder lagen bereit. Die Kommunikation mit Elina war toll, sehr hilfsbereit und aufmerksam. Ein PKW ist unverzichtbar, wenn man mal ans Meer möchte ( 8 min. Fahrzeit nach Kalyves ). Ich würde jederzeit wiederkommen und somit auch besten Gewissens weiterempfehlen.

Beautiful location in the heart of Crete - easy to get anywhere on ghe island from here. Very quiet and private small mountain village, very comfortable homw that was very clean and perfectly furnished. Stavros was an amazing host , very attentive (but not interruptive), brought us multiple local delights & fresh produce. This is a fantastic place to comfoortanly relax without being too far away from all of the action on the beaches. Highly recommend!

This is my family’s second time staying with casa magnolia and believe me when I say you really will not find a more generous, loving, and friendly family who genuinely care about your comfort and want to show you the beautiful hospitality that Crete is known for. We were overjoyed to see them again and are very thankful that this family has chosen to share their little paradise on earth with the world. The home is spotless clean, organized, beautifully decorated and in a countryside location that is unique and breathtaking. The owners, without asking, went out of their way to buy us essential groceries and prepare delicious local food and drink for when we arrived. We are grateful for this! Bed linens are of high quality and freshly laundered professionally and were much appreciated after a long day out and about in Chania. Bathrooms are exceptionally clean and so is the rest of the house. We will never hesitate to visit again and hope to do so in future because of this family. ❤

We had one of the most relaxing holidays ever at Gentjan’s apartment. He and his wonderful family are warm, welcoming people who rightly deserve the title ‘super host' because that's what they are - super hosts. Genuinely nice people that have an abundance of humour, caring and generosity. They were never more than a text or phone call away when we had questions about the apartment or advice on Agia Marina. They have created an absolutely brilliant outside space, which elevates their property to another level. Where to begin? The pair of sun loungers - really comfy. The jacuzzi? Cooling. The covered porch for those that enjoy the heat from the shade - a Godsend. The outdoor leather sofa was perfect to sink into after a day of sight-seeing.. The outside flooring at the property is a combination of tile and astroturf which is clean and nice to walk on. The neat little table and chair set is perfect for outside dining or just sitting looking out across the best bit about the apartment

We had a wonderful stay at the villa. Everything was perfect. A beautiful villa, with a great location close to beaches, about 10-15 min, the same to Chania. The villa had everything we needed, coffie, even ham, cheese, butter and jelly for our first few days. The kids loved the jacussi. We had a wonderful stay, and we would definatly recomend this place to anyone wanting to visit the chania area.

Kefalas is a great village to stay in, its very typical Greek and not spoiled and touristic. It has two nice restaurants, two little supermarkets for groceries, al within walking distance. The location is great to travel to Chania, Rethimnon, Georgioupoli, but also Aptera, Lake Kournas, Plakias, or walk one of the Gorges. The house is unbelievable with multiple lighted places to sit in the garden of balcony. So if you want Sun or Shade it is easy to find. The house is very spacious with 3 nice bedrooms, and also room to relay and sit as well downstairs as upstairs. You can park your car on the own terrain next to the house.

Nous avons adoré cette maison l emplacement est paradisiaque, tranquillité absolue, vue merveilleuse face à la mer ce logement a tout pour plaire. Pleins de douceurs nous attendaient dans le frigo fantastique 😍 Merci aux hôtes de la maison qui ont été remarquables. Nous avions tout l essentiel dans la maison tout était parfait 👍 le rêve absolu.

The cottage is a truly lovely accommodation situated in a calm neighbourhood right by the beach. The beautiful garden with olive trees is a highlight, we had a great time eating breakfast on the sunny terrace. The cottage itself is small but very cozy, perfect for a couple. It has everything you need to cook simple meals. There is also an outdoor shower, and space to park the car in the shade on the property. Highly recommended!

We've spent two great nights at Filia's place as a couple. A bottle of wine and raki waited for us. The house is really cosy and has everything that may be needed during your stay!

Das Apartment liegt - wie der Name schon sagt inmitten von Olivenbäumen und sehr ruhig, jedoch mit guter Anbindung (10min zu Fuß) ins lebhafte Zentrum von Agia Galini. Das Apartment ist mit allem Ausgestattet was man braucht und sehr sauber. Wir haben uns in Stefanies & Zacharias schöner Unterkunft sehr wohl gefühlt!

We had stayed in this stone cottage 8 years ago and our return confirmed the delightful setting in a wooded valley full of greenery and birdsong with the old abandoned buildings adjacent adding an air of mystery. The cottage is equipped with all the facilities two people need, though the sleeping mezzanine, accessed by a steep wooden staircase, is a little short of headspace! Outside, the terraced area is beautiful with many mature plants, and it is almost completely private save for the very occasional walkers on the path above. Much sun-bathing was enjoyed, whether direct or in the dappled shade. Above all, there is a wonderful feeling of tranquillity to this place that finds a place in your heart. Angela and her family were very good in maintaining contact: full marks there! One last point: if you wish to drive to park as close as possible, it is essential to have the smallest car available as the stone-walled access was obviously made to suit tiny donkey-carts! A great stay!

Gonia is a great, quiet village. Perfect for a relaxing getaway after the chaos of the more populated areas of Greece, yet still close enough to get to the other areas of Crete that we wanted to visit. The host is a super-host for a reason! She brought us fresh produce from her garden throughout our stay, including the most beautiful tomatoes that we had ever seen. The house is very quaint and the stone keeps it cooler during the very hot summer months. The outdoor space offered here is wonderful for relaxing, either downstairs in the shade or upstairs in the sun in the hammock or at the second dinner table. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here!

petite maison tres agreable, dans les orangers. Le village est proche avec une taverne, mais il faut prendre la voiture pour tout. Notre hoteest réactif et de bon conseil.

Sotirias bolig var helt perfekt til os (vi var 5 voksne, en lille dreng og en baby). Hendes onkel tog imod os da vi ankom om aftenen (bor i underetagen), og gjorde indtjekning super nem. Videre var kommunikation med Sotiria både inden og under opholdet nemt, høfligt og lige til, hun kom også med gode anbefalinger. Lejligheden ligger i gåafstand til Chania, med udsigt udover havet - virkelig smukt. Nabo restauranten laver gode pizzaer og der er en bager 5 min fra lejligheden. Anbefaler klart et ophold med Sotiria!

La maison de Nikolaos est un petit coin de paradis que nous avons quitté à grand regret. Si vous aimez la nature et les animaux, ce logement est l'endroit idéal, dans un bel environnement très paisible. Nos filles ont passé tout le séjour au fond du jardin où elles s'occupaient de nourrir les animaux (1 chien adorable, 1 lapin, des poules et un coq, et plusieurs chats), de ramasser les œufs fraîchement pondus ou de cueillir les oranges dans le verger pour se presser un jus bien frais. Nous avons apprécié les moments de détente dans ce très beau jardin, entourés d'oliviers, orangers, cactus, citronniers, et massifs de fleurs. La maison est également très bien équipée en produits de base, et la présence de l'air conditionné permet de s'y sentir bien en toute saison (chauffage ou climatisation). Nikolaos est un hôte réactif et accueillant, qui s'est montré très arrangeant lorsque notre avion a été reporté, avec arrivée imprévue en pleine nuit. Nous recommandons ce logement sans hésiter.

We had a wonderful stay, and "authenticity" is the best word to describe it. It was, also, a successful break from mass tourism. We enjoyed the house, the garden, the pool, the village and, most importantly, the people. It was a pleasure and a joy for us to talk with and get to know Eleni and Dimitris. We are grateful for the warm welcome, the stories, the information and the wonderful gifts. The house was very nicely renovated but still keeps a lot of character and history. It had everything we needed. The surroundings are of rare natural beauty, with many options for hiking and it was a surprise for us to see that the middle of Crete is so green, with so many forests. The traditional "Fagopotion o Polopetros" taverna in the village, in an 850-year-old building, serves delicious authentic Cretan food, we highly recommend it. We also highly recommend choosing one of Kalliopi's houses for your stay and we are considering returning in the next years.

Das zweigeschossige Haus ist wunderschön und authentisch renoviert, blitzsauber und es gibt keinen unnötigen Krimskrams. Es gibt eine großartige Terrasse im Obergeschoss (wo das Schlafzimmer und Bad sind) mit Sonnenschirm und großen Steintisch. Sie ist so groß, dass auch 2 oder 3 Personen Yoga machen könnten. Es herrscht eine herrliche Ruhe und ist somit maximal erholsam. Durch Fensterläden ist das Schlafzimmer gut abzudunkeln, sodass ein erholsamer Schlaf möglich ist. In der Küche ist alles vorhanden, was man braucht. Stella und ihr Mann sind sehr nett es gab sogar einen liebevoll hergerichteten Obstkorb und sogar selbst gebackenen Kuchen. Absolut empfehlenswert!

Ich bin sehr froh, vorbeigekommen zu sein, aber Niko, er ist ein sehr netter hat viel Geduld hat auf uns gewartet fast 2 Stunden, hilfsbereiter Typ. Wir fanden eine kleine Geste wie ein Geschenk seiner Frau . Das Haus ist großartig, man muss nichts mitbringen, zum Beispiel Toilettenpapier, Handtücher und Strandtücher, Sonnenschirme. Darüber hinaus sind es nur 20 Minuten nach Shania, 10 Minuten zum Flughafen und 10 Minuten zu anderen Stränden, maximal 15 Minuten Restaurant und Apotheke Supermarkt das ist alles in der Nähe. Ich habe mich wirklich sehr gut erholt und hoffe, dass ich wieder zurückkomme, vielen Dank

We stayed at Despina's in Fres in February and March. From meeting us at the airport and helping us pick up our hire car she was always available if we needed advice. Driving into Fres you head for the village square and drive through it through an archway. Carry on this road for about 300m. Just beyond a small church on the left you will see it in front of you. There is a small undercover car parking space with the stairs to get to the flat. Despina's father lives in the flat below. He is very kind and despite not speaking English we managed to understand each other. We were also lucky to be given lemons, oranges,eggs and olive oil from his garden. The area is beautiful and rural with the sounds of goats and chickens to listen to whilst sipping wine on the balcony looking towards the sea. The area is a great base for exploring especially Vamos, Almyrida and the Apokoronas region. Chania and Rethymno are not too far either. I can't recommend Despina's place highly enough.

Un très beau logement, propre, au clame, bien équipé, avec belle terrasse entouré d'arbres fruitiers dans un petit village. Acceuil très sympathique et séjours très plaisant dans ce petit endroit mignon et agréable

Javi was very helpful, accommodating and helped us a lot. We had a huge delay and he helped us alot, waiter for hrs.. got us food for breakfast as we arrived late and also dinner as we arrived close to midnight. Nice lad and a super nice property beautiful for groups of families
