Springer Park! adorable guesthouse very stylish!.
Marlene's accommodations for us (a couple)were located above the garage and were lovely, private, lovely open lawn and grounds with outdoor seating, very easy parking, outfitted kitchen for basic food prep, comfortable sleeping and lounging for two, walking path/and off main road access, all that one would expect and need for a get-away. The one room apartment is upstairs in the garage with a separate/private entrance. Marlene is accessible, helpful, accommodating and kind.

The Beverly at Hawley Marie w/ Parking
Our lodging fell through at the last minute and Portland hotels were outrageously expensive. We were delighted to find the Beverly right near our event—as well as near coffee shops and restaurants. The unit was comfortable and had all the right amenities—including a kettle for tea (you’d be surprised how many places don’t have one). We loved the charm of the old building, the off-street parking, and the comfy furniture. And our host was helpful, proactive, and friendly! We’d definitely stay again for the event next year!

Cape Elizabeth Garden Apt+Beach+Close to Portland!
Enjoyed our stay so much! Nestled into a picturesque and quiet town. Super easy to get to and from Portland without having to stay in the hustle and bustle of staying directly downtown. The house itself is charming and clean. Felt like we were coming back to our own home every night after exploring Portland and the surrounding cities. Plus, the banana bread was such a sweet and thoughtful touch. 10/10 would recommend to anyone!

Private Garden Retreat on Munjoy Hill
We stayed at Meredith's place for 3 nights and it was wonderful. We came on a hot day and upon entering the apartment is was already cooled with the AC on. We really enjoyed the artwork that gives the apartment so much character and charm. The garden in the back yard and around the house is immaculate and beautiful. In addition, the apartment was clean and the host left snacks and drinks that made us feel welcomed! The apartment also stocked items like blankets, towels, and toiletries that were very thoughtful. I highly recommend this apartment and Meredith's as a host because she was both warm and quick to response to any questions that came up.

The Chickadee House on Pettingill Pond
This was my first time staying at a AirBnB, very positive experience. Highly recommend Tara & Tom’s place. Can’t see how you will not be pleased with a stay here.

Hidden Garden Apartment in Portlands West End
This home was perfectly located, an easy walk to many restaurants and other points of interest. It was exactly as described and offered everything we needed for our stay. Thank you Alex for an excellent experience in Portland, we loved it!

Luxury Condo in Downtown Portland Old Port
Had a bit of a hiccup at check in, but Antonina was extremely helpful and responsive and quickly solved our issue; would 10/10 recommend staying here when in Portland! Great little space, very comfortable and the shower was wonderful after a long day of walking the city.

The Knightcap
Donna and Jeff were fantastic hosts! Our stay was absolutely lovely, and we felt very safe in the area. Everything looked as it did in the pictures on the listing. We were able to walk into Portland (we enjoyed the peacefulness of staying in South Portland while still being close to the city!). This was the perfect spot to come back and rest after eventful days. Thank you for an amazing stay!

Light-Filled Getaway with Private Porch
Great location close to downtown Portland. Lots of walkable places close by for coffee and breakfast. A little farther to some unique restaurants. We Uber'd a lot which worked out great to avoid parking around Portland. We would definitely secure this nice place the next time we come to Portland!

Rising Tide Times - quintessential Maine cottage
We thoroughly enjoyed our peaceful and quiet time of rest at The Rising Tides. The setting is absolutely serene. It’s very secluded and quiet, the perfect place for a week of rest and relaxation. We went hiking on the Cliff Trail (15 minutes away and a very nice hiking trail), watched the sunrise at the Lands End store on Bailey island (15-20 minutes), and kayaked in the cove. The grill was very nice and we enjoyed cooking on it regularly. The place was very clean and ready on our arrival. The host communicated very clearly. You will need to follow her driving directions as they are very clear and helpful. In our four days there we only saw 1 neighbor - and that was as we were leaving on the weekend. There’s a grocery store only 15 minutes away and we were able to stock up on our way there. Really, this was one of our favorite places we’ve ever stayed. We really enjoyed having a few options of things to do while also being able to just do nothing on our vacation in a quiet place.

Tiny Cottage Across The Street From Beach
Me and my three friends stayed at Joshua’s cabin. Joshua was extremely responsive anytime I reached out. The neighbors of the community were so pleasant to interact with. We loved the short walk to the beach and the deli near the tiny cottage. The AC unit cooled down the entire place relatively fast. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would rebook here!

Rustic, cozy cabin on Sebago Lake. A hidden gem.
The cabin was cozy, the view of the lake was incredible, and Bonnie was a great host!

Clean & Safe Apt w/Parking-Close to Downtown
Great little place. We parked our car and trailer right in front of the house, had takeout and a few groceries delivered (I think we used DoorDash or GrubHub), and got rested up for the next leg of our trip. Hyeri was super kind and responsive.

Waterfront Private Apartment only 5 min to LLBean!
Place was just as pictured. Super quiet and peaceful. Great stay! Great spot for a quick Maine trip!

Beautiful Coastal Maine Getaway
Stop scrolling & just book this amazing home! Randy is an excellent, gracious & very responsive host! Check-in was a breeze w/ wonderful detailed instructions for the house and region sent in advance. This house is awesome, pristine clean, beautifully decorated and outfitted. Totally turnkey set up as they thought of everything one might need to cook, relax, sleep, explore and enjoy your visit! It's very evident that these hosts want their guests to have an exceptional experience and we did! Beds were comfy along with plenty of high quality linens and supplies. We truly cannot wait to return on what will be our regular road trips to Maine! We toured Boothbay, Chebeague Island, Brunswick, Portland, Kennebunkport, Freeport and Ogunquit while we were there. Yarmouth is awesome with super friendly locals! Close by, we found Rosemont Market, Maggie Mae's Cafe and Royal River Grille convenient options among many good ones in the area. Thanks to our host for the wine & chocolate!

Generic Two Bedroom - Stair access only
Great place to stay for our family of 4. I asked for 3 beds and that request was made possible. I enjoyed the area and it was quiet and peaceful place to rest after walking around the beaches and or state parks. Amenities were very good and communication with the check in team was excellent.

There's No Place Like Home
Kathi’s place was great! Super close to the Downtown Portland/Old Port area. Kathi was a great host, extremely responsive and genuinely nice, plus she even made my family and I some delicious blueberry muffins for our stay! Her instructions were clear and she made us feel right at home! Would definitely stay again whenever we’re in the area!

Steep Falls Escape, river & falls just steps away
We loved our stay! A week was not long enough! Very open layout with lots of space. We loved having a washer and dryer! It was a pleasure to talk to Tom! Really a person you could talk to hours for! Your guide to Portland
All About Portland
Perched along the dramatic slate-gray waters of the Atlantic Ocean, where gulls wheel and whitecaps dot the surf, Portland is quintessential Maine combined with the allures of a metropolis. Established as a booming port town by traders and fishermen, Portland is now the state’s biggest city. Here you can tread cobblestone streets, visit historic lighthouses, and dine on lobsters hauled from the nearby waters. But you’ll also find top-notch museums and galleries, boutique shopping, and a celebrated foodie scene that boasts award-winning restaurants and a thriving microbrew culture. New and old Maine commingle comfortably here, where you can enjoy the best of both worlds.
The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Portland
Summers are brief and mild in Portland, where June through September bring average temperatures in the 70s Fahrenheit. October and November cool down, with temperatures in the 40s and 50s, and December through February are chilly, with temperatures in the 30s. Things grow steadily warmer starting in March, ushering in 40-degree weather and climbing into the low 60s by May. You’re likely to encounter rainfall year-round, and snow December through March. Pack lots of warm layers, hats, and scarves.
Top things to do in Portland
Portland Head Light
The Portland area is home to several historic lighthouses, but the Portland Head lighthouse is the undisputed heavyweight. Construction began in 1790, making it the oldest in the state. Visitors can tour the quaint lighthouse and its grounds, which include the former keepers’ house, now repurposed as a museum. Take in the sweeping vista, which includes views of four more lighthouses and the possibility of watching lobstermen pulling their traps from the bay, before taking a scenic stroll through Fort Williams, the 90-acre park in which the lighthouse resides.
Casco Bay and the Calendar Islands
Hop on a ferry (or charter a water taxi) to tour the photogenic Calendar Islands, clustered in grand Casco Bay. You can experience small-town Maine life here. Teensy Cliff Island has fewer than 60 year-round residents and a small schoolhouse. Peaks Island offers four miles of uninterrupted coastline and historical sites such as a World War II artillery bunker. Tonier Great Diamond Island, where a private community has been installed within the refurbished military buildings of historic Fort McKinley, boasts upscale dining. Don’t have time to set ashore? Casco Bay Lines, the island ferry service, offers speciality cruises that will afford you a sailor’s-eye view of the islands and dazzling bay.
Old Port District
Travel back in time in this quaint maritime neighborhood that still looks very much the way it did in the early 19th century. Narrow cobblestone streets and historic brick warehouses lend the enclave its cozy feel, but that’s where the frozen-in-time vibe ends. The restored Old Port District, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, is home to quirky boutiques, inventive eateries, and brewpubs. You’ll find many of these offerings on buzzy Exchange Street.
