“This place was above and beyond what we expected! The photos really don't do it justice it's so much prettier in person. I would recommend staying in one of Tom's Villas to anyone. Obviously the view and outdoor space is just amazing, you really don't even need to leave the residence. But in addition to that, just by staying here you can tell that he really cares about your comfort and accommodations as his guest. We were provided with several items that we enjoyed during our stay (snacks, coffee, beer, bugspray, beach towels, etc, & the super soft toilet paper!) - It's never expected but always appreciated. Those small things made us feel super welcome. One thing I worry about when traveling is if the bed will be comfortable enough - well this one definitely is! We could tell that Tom didn't cut corners to provide us with simply a space but rather went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable in a space that he loves and we appreciate that.”
Backpacker ecofriendly environment. Awesome views of El Yunque. 2 Minutes to rainforest and only 10 minutes to the local beaches of Luquillo. We are 45 minutes to the ferries that will take you to Culebra and Vieques. Private property with chickens, 2 cats and a black Lab named Luna and Maya Our personal home is on the property. We are close by for any assistance. We have lots of fruits & vegetables (passion fruit, bananas, pineapple, mangos..). We are striving to be as low impact as possible.
“The Sugar Shack is a beautiful, unique experience in the rainforest! When we arrived Monica and Mark's friendly dog Maya greeted us and showed us to our rooms. She was such a good little hostess. The cabin is a suuuuper adorable, off-grid sort of place. Solar-powered with a gas cooktop and running non-potable water. You are right in the mountains of the rainforest, with a gorgeous view. Expect a lot of unique nature sounds, lizards, frogs and some bugs, you are in a forest after all. But that being said, the cabin itself was relatively creature-free and very clean. They stay outside. I didn't see any bugs inside, barely any mosquitos during February when we visited, and only a little frog and lizard in the shower, which was actually just funny. The shower isn't warm, we didn't mind, just boil water on the stove and mix it with a bucket of cool water if you want to rinse off with warm water. Bring ear plugs for sleeping, the nature and rain can be loud. The dive up to the house is winding and not for inexperienced drivers. The view is worth it. You can get a little wifi if you find the right spot outside to stand. The hosts are lovely and Monica brought us fresh eggs and bananas. Thank you so much! We had a great time!”

“Staying in Julio’s treehouse was the best AirBnB experience I have ever had. Julio was amazingly kind and has a passion for meeting people, sharing experiences, and fantastic hospitality. His treehouse was cozy and had every amenity we needed- including the best WiFi we had while in Puerto Rico. The treehouse is thoughtfully stocked with snacks, beverages, wine, and assorted toiletries. It was also impeccably clean and well decorated for a small space. Breakfast was delicious and we had a great time chatting with Julio, he shared some details about his home and even encouraged us to go swim in the river on his property (which we did, it was awesome). I asked Julio if my father, who does construction for a living and was staying at a nearby resort, could come visit the treehouse and he graciously welcomed him to come check it out. Getting to see the treehouse made my dad’s vacation and I’m so glad we had a host like Julio. Highly, highly recommend. My only complaint is that we only stayed one night.”
