The best place to escape from summer heat! It is very cool inside with a big air-conditioner:) A 250 year old former temple is located 5 min drive from JR Urasa station, which is 90 min by a bullet train from Tokyo. Hot spring is 10 min walk. A beautiful trekking/jogging course is right in front! The guests can use four bikes for free of charge.
“Peaceful, quiet, one-of-a-kind stay experience! The Temple was a truly unique stay unlike any other I’ve had. Nestled in the quite countryside of Urasa, Japan sits this gem of a property with unbelievable mountain vistas in-front, gurgling steams all around, and a lovely mountain backdrop behind. It’s an easy walk from the JR Urasa Station and only ~ 90 mins from Tokyo via a direct-route Shinkansen train. Surrounded by rice paddies, mountains, and awe-inspiring nature this is a true treat for the senses. The Temple had everything I required for a great visit, auxiliary heating, comfortable bedding, clean, spacious, and plenty of utensils for dining-in if that’s what you prefer. The shower is terrific, interior decor is simply beautiful, bikes are provided for use at no-charge, and there are countless little special things that set this place apart from just another typical rental. The gracious owner has hospitality in his blood and went above and beyond to ensure I enjoyed my stay while introducing me to daily life in rural Japan. Great experience, awesome place, and outstanding hospitality - The Temple nails all three in a very special way that will keep you smiling about it long after your stay completes.”
1 minute walk from Tokamachi Station. It is a small two-story house. Because it is in the city, there are many delicious shops nearby. Upon request, breakfast and dinner will be served at the adjacent cafe. Breakfast is 800 yen per person and dinner starts from 1200 yen. There are Japanese-style rooms, Western-style rooms and dining rooms for couples, families and groups. Of course there is a kitchen so you can prepare your own meals. It is safe to rent one building. There is only a shower, but there is a hot spring nearby. (7 minutes on foot)
“I had a very nice & relaxing stay at Sakura House. The place is clean, spacious and very close to the train station. The kotatsu was my favourite place as it made the experience even more pleasant. The host was very kind and prompt when it comes to exchanging messages.”
Free parking. Heavy snowfalls right outside your house. Yuzawa is known across Japan for some of the best snow in the mainland. One minute walk to the ski lift. Once you go up the mountain you can take the cable car to GALA Yuzawa where you can get other lifts as well without descending the mountain. The house is renovated and furnished with modern appliances and insulation so you will warm inside during your stay. This is B house, both houses in this property are completely private.
“For Japanese standards this unit is very spacious. It has all the mod cons, the kitchen is well equipped, and the internet is fast (the modem needed resetting). The one air conditioning unit in the lounge struggled to keep the whole area warm, as it's a fairly large open plan design. The bedrooms are warm and comfortable, as are the beds. 2 toilets was great. The house is in walking distance to the ski lift and a ski hire shop. You could leave your skis at the shop at the end of each day, and pick them up the next morning, which was great. The house isn't close to the supermarket, onsens or restaurants, and taxis are expensive. You can take a bus, but knowing which bus to take can be a challenge, as not much English is spoken in these parts, however the people are super friendly and helpful, even with the language barrier. Only a couple of hours on the fast train from Tokyo, it's definitely one of the closest ski areas in the Nagano district, although it's not all that high, and as Japan was having one of it's worst ski seasons in 30 years, that meant not too much snow. Nate and Kojima were quick to respond to questions and queries, thanks guys.”
