Vacation rentals with a fire pit in Mathews County

This is the second time I've stayed at Tamara's place and I would absolutely stay again. The place is exactly what you expect and they have excellent instructions. Wonderful people, peaceful location, and you always know what to expect.

Our family had a wonderful time with the beautiful setting. There were 7 of us and we fit comfortably.

We so enjoyed our stay!! I frequent the Mathews area for a variety of reasons, but this was by far one of the most beautiful waterfront views I’ve seen at any place I’ve stayed. Buddy and Robin were extremely communicative and flexible— we were in town for a wedding with specific event timings and were able to check-in early to spruce up after travels. Which was SO helpful since some of our group had driven from Cleveland. We ended up spending quite a bit of time doing wedding activities out and about, but I crave coming back here and being able to relax at the beautiful pier and taking a kayak out. Would book again! The proximity to Bethel Beach should be a major selling point. It’s a wonderful walk with great birding opportunities!!

We had such a wonderful stay at this beautiful waterfront home! The house itself is spacious, thoughtfully designed, and perfect for a group getaway. The views are absolutely stunning—during our stay we saw dolphins right from the deck and even caught a rainbow over the water, which made the whole weekend feel magical. The kayaks were such a fun bonus and a great way to explore the peaceful surroundings. Inside, the home is clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with everything we needed. Brian was incredibly responsive and helpful from start to finish, which made the whole experience even better. I’d absolutely come back—this place is a gem!

We had the most amazing weekend staying at this cozy cottage for my son’s birthday getaway. From the moment we arrived, everything was absolutely perfect. The space was clean, beautifully decorated, and had such a peaceful, welcoming vibe. It truly felt like peace from the moment we stepped out of the car. The cottage had everything we needed. It made settling in so easy and stress-free, especially with little one in tow. The hosts were beyond incredible. Their warmth, hospitality, and attention to detail made our stay unforgettable. They even went out of their way to help make my son’s birthday feel extra special by letting us do cake with family in their backyard, which meant the world to us. This trip was full of sweet memories, and a huge part of that was thanks to this beautiful cottage and its amazing hosts. We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home. The beach was quiet and a great place to walk. Family gathered around the fire pit every night (not too many bugs!). The house nicely decorated and spacious. It is an "upside down" house, with the main living space on the 3rd floor, which has incredible views of the bay. (Plus a good workout to walk up the stairs!) We appreciated the bedroom on the 3rd floor as we were traveling with my 88 year old MIL. She didn't need to use the elevator, but it was nice to know that was an option, if needed (extra charge). The second floor features three bedrooms and we brought a long a queen size mattress which fit in the 2nd floor TV area, a good option for our 6'5" son. Also loved the deck on the 2nd floor. The nearby town is great, but restaurants close early so check before you go. We recommend the Hole in the Wall as it is on the bay. Check out the Saturday morning Farmers Market, a great place to buy gifts made by locals. Highly recommend!

Our stay was absolutely wonderful! The hosts were incredibly friendly, inviting, and generous, making us feel right at home. The house was equipped with every amenity imaginable, ensuring a comfortable and convenient experience. Its location was perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle of city life, offering a peaceful retreat. We had a fantastic time and would definitely return. Highly recommend!

Saint Salty was SO refreshing! We hosted our retreat here for a few good friends and it was just what we needed! Beautiful views, sounds of the water, a great walk to the lighthouse, watching windsurfing, paddle boarding and enjoying the perfect table on the deck for all meals! The kitchen was stocked with all we needed for our meals and the bedrooms were so cozy. The views from the living room are gorgeous. We loved our stay. It was so peaceful and our host was awesome with communication and flexible to support our needs. We will be back!

Nothing but great things to say about Pelican Place. The accommodations were excellent and TV couldn’t have been a more kind and helpful host. The location was perfect for exploring Irvington and the surrounding area. Hope to get back again soon!

Jacqueline’s place was lovely. There were many thoughtful touches such as blueberry muffins upon our arrival and numerous toiletries available for our use. The bed was very comfortable, and the entire place in good order. We visit this area regularly and will happily stay here again!

My adult son said this was the best airbnb pick I'd made over the years! We rested AND had fun switching between pickleball, basketball, putting and kayaking. Kitchen was the perfect size and had all the basics for cooking a full meal. Beds were comfortable, roomy and every room had great views of the water and property. We loved everything about our stay

I spent 2+ months at Jocelyn’s and got quite comfortable! It’s definitely a ways away from things, but that was fine for me during that time. Communication was great. Jocelyn and family were nearby but never intrusive. I probably won’t be staying near Gloucester any time soon, but if I did I would definitely check Jocelyn’s availability first.

Frank was a great host! We hit traffic and got in super late, and he was very accommodating! We hope to head back in the future when we can actually get to stay longer and enjoy some wine!

This sweet studio with private enclosed outdoor area overlooking the bay is a magical place with a relaxing, positive vibe. Very comfortable bed and pillows, A/C and WiFi works great and the campground and hosts are stellar. We loved swimming at the beach, feeding the turtles in the pond, kayaking and riding the bikes. We’ve stayed in our camper and the little red cottage before but this was by far our best trip. Two restaurants I highly recommended in town are Sandy Bottom and The Galley. There are 12 steps up to the studio, not a problem for us but may be for anyone with mobility issues.

This place was amazing for our small getaway, the people were so friendly and helpful.

the cabin is a perfect place for someone looking for a quiet night or two and doesn't require too many amenities.

I have stayed in many airbnbs over the past decade and this is one of my all time favorites. It was so peaceful and felt like a true escape from the world. I loved waking up to the quiet sounds of birds and seeing the farm animals each morning. We also loved playing with Buddy, the farm dog. I never wanted to leave! I can’t wait to come back already. It’s just a short drive (less than 10 minutes) to downtown Cape Charles if you want access to local shops, restaurants, and the beach.

My husband and I enjoy staying at Cheryl’s place. We have been here in the winter and summer. It is a cute little house and the area is nice and peaceful. It is dog friendly and our boys love walking up and down the quiet road. Cheryl is a great host and always responsive. We will stay there again.

This cabin was the perfect getaway for my family. The waterfront location is absolutely stunning, and my sons had a fantastic time playing in the water. The cabin is exceptionally well-equipped, providing everything we could possibly need. It's a true escape from civilization, offering a profound sense of peace and tranquility. We had such a beautiful weekend at Kathryn’s place - so much so it was truly hard to leave. The cabin was thoughtfully curated with amenities and decor, and we were very comfortable in the space. The water view was beautiful, and my dog had the most amazing time swimming. We would love to come back soon.
