FYI the coast drive is now accessible between here and LA, but may be shut down during stormy weather, so be sure to follow local weather reports or just call Caltrans.

Carmel River State Beach is one minute away on foot, with easy access to various parts of the coastline, while a longer stroll along the water to the village of Carmel is about 30 minutes.
