A couple friends and I rented the house for Memorial Day Weekend. From the very beginning, Miguel, our host was super attentive. This was my first time booking on AirBnB and Miguel answered any questions I had quickly and made the booking process super easy. The house and the surroundings were nothing short of perfect and is perfect for a peaceful getaway. We will definitely be back! Great host and an even greater home.

Heaven on Lake Sinclair

KatrinaRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Yvette was a phenomenal host from start to finish. She was extremely responsive and helped my family even on a late night whim when our hotel had booked our room to someone else! While the night started out rough for us with that, Yvette was so accommodating and was able to give us a place to stay. I am grateful that she was there to open her home to us. The home is absolutely beautiful and exceptionally clean! The beautiful serenity that is the backyard is so peaceful to just sit outside and enjoy a cup of coffee while the kids played in the yard. We came for a wedding and the location is just a short 25 min to the Heartwood Acres venue! Sheets on the beds were extremely tidy and everything looks very well maintained. If I had any questions, Yvette was on top of it! If I should ever find myself staying in this quaint little town again, I would absolutely stay here! Thank you Yvette so much for everything!

Staying here was absolutely worth it! Not only was the home beautiful and comfortable, but Brad and Alanna clearly put so much thought into every detail. The extras they provided — like the coffee, s’mores station, ice pops (which totally won over my daughter!), a detailed guest guide, kayaks, and a fully stocked kitchen — made the stay feel extra special. We truly felt at home thanks to their thoughtful touches. We will definitely be back. Thank you again!

What a great getaway! Our 3 day weekend trip was fantastic, the house is well appointed and very comfortable. Early morning coffee on the deck or down on the dock starts off the day, we spent hours just floating in the cove, no need for a boat unless you want to go exploring. Thanks very much, highly recommend. 3 families and a baby had a wonderful trip.

Secluded 4-BR + Bonus Room Retreat w/ Pool & Pond

AliciaRating, 5 stars1 week ago
My family and I spent a week at Scott’s place and it was perfect. Scott’s home is one of my favorite type of Airbnbs, where you feel like you are staying at a friend or family’s house - Extremely welcoming, cozy, safe, peaceful and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Secluded enough, but easy to find and close to grocery, etc. The property itself is well maintained and beautiful! We were lucky to see a few deer, bunnies and even meet a sweet neighbor’s dog. We had a small group but the house has plenty of room and would be a great fit for a larger group. Scott is a kind host and made us feel right at home. We definitely will be back!

Lake Sinclair Home: Waterfront, Dock & Fire Pit!

LyndaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
I was seeking a peaceful, stress-free family retreat. Our group consisted of eight adults. We appreciated that all the rooms were equipped with either King or Queen beds. The property offered multiple private areas for quiet reflection, as well as ample space for group activities such as games and shared meals. Throughout our stay, we did not use the television, preferring to spend our time fishing, relaxing on the dock, or enjoying the outdoor living spaces. We particularly enjoyed the screened-in porch. The only minor drawback was the seating arrangement at the dinner table, which accommodated six people; we discovered this through a photo and brought our own folding chairs to ensure everyone could sit comfortably. Overall, it’s an ideal location for a family seeking quality time together. Highly recommend.

Happy Birds Cottage

HarleighRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Our stay at the cabin was absolutely fantastic! It’s a beautiful, peaceful retreat tucked back in the woods—secluded enough to feel like a getaway, but still conveniently located. Just as described, it’s part of a working farm, but the owners were incredibly respectful and never intrusive. They were also super friendly and quick to answer any questions we had. One of the highlights of our stay was spending time with the two sweet outdoor kittens—they truly made the experience even more special. The cabin is pet-friendly and filled with charm. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay!

Your guide to Lake Sinclair

Welcome to Lake Sinclair

Lake Sinclair’s 15,330 acres of fresh water and verdant forest make it one of central Georgia’s most treasured spots for a relaxing shoreside getaway. While there’s no shortage of activities to take part in around here, most visitors tend to gravitate toward water sports, taking full advantage of the lake’s 500-plus miles of shoreline. The water is teeming with catfish and several species of bass, making it a top fishing destination, and there’s ample opportunity for renting kayaks, inner tubes, and water skis — if you’re brave enough, that is. Though the lake itself is spectacular, don’t miss out on the abundant natural beauty just next door at the Piedmont National Wildlife Refuge. Streaked with thousands of miles of hiking trails and home to a massive array of mammals, birds, and butterflies, this sprawling sanctuary is a true haven for any visiting nature lovers.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Lake Sinclair

Given Georgia’s favorable year-round weather, there’s really no wrong time to visit Lake Sinclair. For those who have an aversion to crowds, tourism tends to be at its lowest in the winter months — though it may be a little cold for swimming and tubing. Conversely, summer brings peak heat and sun, but the boat launches can be on the busy side. That said, it’s the ideal time of year if you’re trying to make a few friends on the water. Springtime offers a favorable balance between the two, with warm temperatures but not quite as many visitors. During fall, you’ll be treated to colorful foliage along with a few lively local jamborees, ranging from the BBQ and live music-focused Deep Roots Festival to the Milledgeville-Eatonton (ME) Film Festival, an event showcasing features and shorts with a Southern Gothic flair.

Top things to do in Lake Sinclair

Georgia’s Old Governor’s Mansion

A reminder of Milledgeville’s former status as capital of Georgia, the Old Governor’s Mansion is one of the state’s architectural marvels. Given its elegant 1830s-era Greek Revival design and historic significance, it’s no wonder that it has been designated a U.S. National Landmark since the 1970s.

Lockerly Arboretum

The perfect destination for a leisurely afternoon stroll, this sprawling estate is home to 50 acres of vibrant flowers and verdant foliage. Soak in the beauty of the arboretum before laying out a lunch at one of the picnic tables by the pond. Or stretch your legs on the mile-long nature trail shaded by oaks, magnolias, and, in spring, a riot of wildflowers.

Natural History Museum at Georgia College

A paradise for visiting nature enthusiasts, Georgia College’s own natural history museum houses more than 100,000 preserved organisms on display. Gaze in wonder at massive fossils of mammoths and other prehistoric beasts, then head over to the Mammalogy section to view rhinoceros, lion, and giraffe skeletons.
