“So yes, a visit to the washroom required stepping outside or taking a 20-m trek to the main cabin. It took me less than a few hours to realize how unimportant such a technicality really was. What I will remember most fondly from my stay at Liz and Peter's place is the family atmosphere they so naturally welcomed me into, with a little help from their lovely neighbours and a couple of visiting friends. There were delicious common meals, discussions on all possible topics, useful advice and assistance regarding water activities, and the companionship I will never forget. Let me be clear - I could have had all the undisturbed privacy I might have wished, but I chose not to. All that in addition to some of the most amazing kayaking and swimming I'd done in my life, within the truly indescribable scenery of The Archipelago. And how many island hosts provide boat transportation to and from the cottage? Thank you for everything, Liz and Peter.”
Because of Ontario’s Emergency Order (in effect until June 2nd) I am not able to rent unless you don’t have a permanent address in Ontario, or unless you are a health care worker needing to self-isolate. Studio cottage adjacent to the West arm of Lake Nipissing. Open year-round. Very quiet area. Walking/snowshoe trails, ice fishing, snowmobile trails close by. Located on the edge of hundreds of acres of Crown land, yet close to provincial highway. Wifi $25 (cash) extra for the duration of stay.
“Upon arrival Joan showed us to the cabin, she had already started a fire in the wood fireplace making it toasty in the cabin. The cabin was cuter in person than the photos showed. For our winter weekend get away the cabin was the perfect place to stay. We were close to snowshoeing and cross country ski trails. For a night out we went to Lavigne Tavern, 15 minutes away, a great little jazz/blues bar. Joan was a great host, answering all of our questions almost immediately. Her dog W.P and the neighbours dogs came around often and were super friendly. We are excited to go back again in the summer and plan to make it an annual get away in the winter. Bring warm socks!”

“What an exquisite experience to be surrounded and immersed into nature. We had a wonderful time staying at Paul and Karen's cottage. The cottage itself is decorated and designed tastefully and the amenities are well thought through. We arrived with a nice little surprise which helped get us settled in. The bed with fresh and clean, the kitchen was immaculate and had all the gadgets and whistles you could need! You can travel light because all necessities are there. The open concept living space allowed us to be busy in the kitchen and enjoy each other's company while one sits by the fire. We had great meals at the farm style table overlooking the French River through large windows. We woke up to misty mornings and a delicious cup of coffee on the porch. Luckily we went where there were no bugs, but truth be told, had we gone in July as we did the first time, the screened in porch would have come in handy. We played board games and had time to reconnect with each other and nature. The surrounding grounds of the property were lush and well landscaped. The bonus were the canoe ,kayaks and paddle board. We took full advantage, my husband and I fished hours in the canoe back up and down the French River. I can't wait to come back and stay in this comfortable and inviting home. We had such a wonderful time!! Karen and Paul are very friendly and hospitable, thank you for sharing this opportunity with us and enabling us to experience and enjoy this part of Ontario in such a cozy and comfortable home. We look forward to many future stays here! Thank you for inspiring us!”
