The owner was fantastic and very responsive, even took us to the local grocery store. The house is on the side of the hill in an incredibly quiet and serene location with complete privacy. The outdoor hot bath was incredible, too, and a great way to relax and unwind at the end of the day. Overall it was a great place to stay and would recommend it for anyone staying in Atami.

Open-air bath/11 mins walk from Hakone Yumoto Sta.

MonicaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
This was our favorite place we stayed during our 12 day trip through Japan. The house is lovely. We fell in love with the space immediately. It’s a beautiful balance of old and new. The host was proactive in his communication. The Food Mart is very close - a 5 minute walk. I was worried about where we would grab snacks and water, but the proximity of the food mart was perfect. There are also several close restaurants and downtown Hakone is an easy downhill walk from the house. Burger Box is very close (not all the way downtown), and the food was great.

The beach is right there, you can see the sea even if you are sitting in the dining room, the stars are beautiful, the location was great! It was a family trip for three generations, but I would like to come back again. There is no microwave, so I thought that if you have small children, you need to be creative with your belongings.

Shimoda Beach House, 3 bedrooms 一軒家

LorienRating, 5 stars10 months ago
We stayed in this lovely home just outside of town, nestled in nature, for one month and felt right at home. Abhi is a most generous and considerate host, he helped us out from start to finish and made sure we had the best time in the Shimoda area. You do not need a car if staying here as the beach and a couple of restaurants are only about a 10 min walk from the house and convenience store about 20 minutes and a couple more good restaurants / bars about 35 minutes. But if you want to visit more sites in the area or go to the grocery store we'd recommend a car. The main reason we were visiting the area was to dive with the huge schools of Hammerhead sharks just off the coast here. Without a car the dive center can pick you up. We highly recommend Abhi's place. good wifi good AC big TV well equipped kitchen washing machine

We had an extraordinary experience in the beautiful sea and surrounded by beautiful forests!!The sea is about a 10-minute walk away, so you can go anytime, and it's great to play in the evening (after 16 o'clock)! There is a shop only in the summer, and there is a convenience store, so there is no problem with eating and drinking ^ ^ The owner is also kind and attentive.I'm pretty talkative, but lol You can also have a BBQ, but I am grateful that the fire wood was arranged so that it was easier for the owner to make it easier to make fire!! As others have said, there are a lot of insects. It's in the mountains, so you can't help it.You should probably take it for granted that you come across a cockroach or taka sigmat in the house. If you can even enjoy it, it's a great deal. I want to recommend it because I think I had the best experience in a very great location.

Stayed only one night, but it was lovely. The cabin itself is tiny, but qiet comfortable, especially wanna point futons - i usually have troubles cuz it is way too hard for me, these were ok) Another good thing - private bbq place right at the entrance to cabin. Beach is literally in 2 mins, bus stop in 3) The town looks a bit dead....may be it was not a season yet. Nearest 7/11 in 25 mins walk. The host is very friendly and speaks english vell, so communication was easy.

We had a wonderful stay at Mitsuko’s house, and the view on the sea was amazing! The house is comfortable to stay for longer periods, with more than enough cooking utensils, cutlery and plates and cups for cooking. Definitely visit the local hotspring, and Manyo park in Yugawara for a relaxed day out. There are also some local busses for commuting to the nearest supermarkets.

[An entire building] The same price for as many people!Behind the furnace, starry sky, BBQ, and fire.Ancient house with a wide range of rice bamboo

YasushiRating, 5 stars10 months ago
6 adults and 3 children stayed for 1 night. We went to the field to pick the vegetables we would use for the evening BBQ. The kids had fun putting okra in baskets and getting umbrellas with leaves like Totoro had! There was water nearby, and we watched the dragonflies. It looked like you could enjoy looking for creatures and playing in the water. Most importantly, the organic rice grown here was delicious✨, and both adults and children ate their fill of rice!! When my children are a little older, I'd love to come during the autumn harvest season and the rice planting season. At night, there were few street lights, so it was very dark, and the stars and fireworks were very beautiful. There was no⭐️ air conditioning, only a fan, so it was hard at first (mid-August), but I sweated a lot, and I felt the comfort of the breeze and cold water, and the taste of beer, and I thought this might be the best part of the countryside experience. The host was a very nice person, and when we called out to him, he taught us a lot of things, brought us rice and vegetables, doted on the children like they were his grandchildren, and watched over us from a good distance!
A composite image features various enticing elements. A surfer riding a wave captures the coastal vibe. An outdoor decking area includes a table and chairs, enhanced by natural light and greenery. Wine glasses await on a table, while a cozy interior showcases tatami and a spacious sitting area.
