Villa Gioia is a wonderful villa with a private patio and a romantic garden. Just 2Km away from the famous beach of Alykes. Ideal for relaxation, giving a real insight into the traditional Greek lifestyle. If you are looking for peace and quiet as well as getting in touch with nature, look no further!
“Had a very relaxing week at Nicos and Christine’s house. Garden is the highlight with a large table to sit at and have breakfast and even the odd BBQ. Kitchen is quite well equipped, nespresso machine is a nice touch. Very quiet and peaceful apart from being woken by the chickens and cockerel in the morning which made it feel quite rural. Main living room is nicely decorated but hardly used as were outside when at the house. Having a car is essential, lots of nice beaches within a short drive, Xigia a particular fave. Alykes is a bit of a strip and best just to dip in and out, Fishadila in Alykes is one place to try great for both lunch and dinner, nice food, cool vibe - European crowd. Now staying for a second week at a villa with a pool in the hills over Zakynthos town and for the same price it is a lot less well equipped and a bit tired in comparison.”
Mare nostrum 2 is located in the middle of Alykes bay, which is a wonderful beach in the Eastern part of Zakynthos. The name Mare nostrum, which means " our sea " in Latin, represents its ideal location literally right in front of the sea. Here you will be able to enjoy the outstanding view of the crystal clear blue waters and find yourself in a quiet and peaceful spot.
“If you really want to just get away from it all and enjoy peace and tranquilly then this is the place for you. We haven’t relaxed like this for years and that’s saying something as we took our kids with us. And guess what, they loved it too but for different reasons. On top of that, we were able to experience the true spirt of Airbnb by feeling part of a Greek family in Dennis and Marianthi (and their extended kin). The kindness, which started even before we arrived, was just wonderful. The loveliest hosts who went out of their way to help in any way they could. Fabulous people! The apartment is just fantastic. Fabulously clean, tastefully decorated, and with everything you need to make your stay comfortable. The view from the balcony is to die for. Watching the sun rise and set each day just made us feel glad to be alive. On the grounds outside the apartment is plenty of space for those that love to lounge on sunbeds. We even managed to catch the shooting stars each night as we sat on the chairs or looked up from the ‘swinging bed’ (have a look at the photos). Magical! The outdoor shower looking out to the sea is a really cool touch. You will also find everything you need if you like snorkelling plus lots of floaty toys for the kids. There are even Kayaks which we took out every morning. The sea is so beautifully clear. Quite unexpectedly, we were blessed to be able to swim with a turtle, twice. A truly memorable and uplifting experience. Our kids wore swimming masks and swam alongside the turtle (not getting too close of course) for what seemed like ages. It really showed to us the importance of the natural world. Just awesome! The beach is full of stones which we actually liked as it seemed to keep the crowds way. If you like sand, then a few minutes’ walk will take you to a sandy beach. Where we swam there was usually fewer than ten people each day. Perfect for us. The local town/village has all you need in terms of supermarkets, bars, and restaurants. You can book trips from here too although we choose a really great tour from Airbnb by a fabulous guy named George. The local supermarket is a 5-minute walk from the apartment which is really handy as bottled water is essential. If you like your bars, then this will be the place to be. For us we enjoyed the quiet of the area where we were located. We did eat out and found a lovely place right by the sea called ‘Porto Paradiso’ (about a 20-minute walk away) which had great local and international dishes. Close by is a swimming pool which is free to use and a small bar that showed the football which was apparently important for our kids….they could also kick the ball around on the green so they were happy with that. The kids had plenty to do with and without us. They also want to come back. In conclusion this has been probably the best holiday we have had in years. The kids loved the place and we just fell in love all over again. I was reluctant to write this review as selfishly I wanted to keep this place as much a secret as possible as we want to return but on the other hand, I want to shout about it from the rooftops as it is so wonderful. In our view don’t think twice, just book your Airbnb here. Thank you so much to Dennis and Marianthi. You made our year!”
Our cozy apartment is located in the heart of Katastari nature surrounded by young olive trees and vineyard. With few minutes walk you can approach either up to the village centre or down to the beach. Peacefull accommodation ideal for families and couples.
“The home at Katastari is perfectly located in a green and quiet enviroment yet very close to the seaside of Alykes. When we arrived our Natsav could not locate the house so we called Spiros. He was expecting us and came immediatly looking for us with his motorcycle. The start of meeting the most hospitable host we ever met. The appartment is very clean and cosy and has everything you need for 4 persons. Also the attention of having already a couple of water bottels and a local white wine and oliveoil in the house was so nice. We also loved the caring of the family of Spiros. They speak a few english words but we could communicate excellent with them. And we enjoyed the endulgment they show with giving us tomatoes and cucomber and homemade marmelade and potatoes and so on. They even gave us a quick tour through there domain of olivetrees, chicken, turkey, geese, rabits, cats and dogs an goats. They are really the most hospitable family you can imagine. Thanks Spiros for the wonderfull stay and the tips and reservation for our hikes through Zakyntos!”
