A-Frame Mtn Cabin ~ 35 Mi to Yellowstone NP!
Chester and Freddy were very friendly, would greet you when you come and go. The place is amazing - away from the busy places if you like to live somewhere quite and private, the host Sue was very helpful and made sure we had everything in the cabin. The place has a well equipped kitchen and washer/dryer. This place is great if you want to visit Yellowstone from the west entrance, an hour drive to most of the major attractions. Make sure you have a great camera and good lenses as the night sky here is dark suitable for stargazing, and definitely carry a great zoom lens for the wildlife. A bear spray was provided by the host incase you ever needed one. Overall great experience.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the cabin and wished we could stay even longer. Everything was clean and the host was extremely communicative and helpful. We enjoyed the hot tub and the cinema room and even had a moose sighting from our deck!

The house is clean and tidy. We enjoyed staying and had a wonderful time visiting YS national park. Thank you for sharing your place.

Fox Grove Lodge
This was a pretty fantastic stay all around. We were out to visit Yellowstone and with it being 30 min from the west gate, you couldn’t get better for the price! Although this is out of Katie’s hands, just note there is some major construction happening on the only road to and from the cabin. It made for some rough drives and delays, just be mindful of this! Looks like it should be completed in the fall. Overall this was a very comfortable and peaceful place to stay and you really couldn’t beat it. We even saw and mom and baby moose in the neighborhood. Close to some great restaurants and anything you’d need. Would love to come back out and stay!

Elk Haven Retreat+HOTUB+AC+WIFI+20mintoYellowstone
This place has a total of eight beds that counted, sits in a quiet development , back yard is a open field to the mountains. Chris was excellent in responsiveness and provides a host of tips and ideas in the area. truly 22 minutes to West Gate of Yellowstone, and the Town of West Yellowstone has everything you need, Try "Ernie's" for a breakfast going in. One queen downstairs, plus sofa, all others are upstairs. And after 12 hours in the park, the Hot Tub was perfect. Pricing was very competitive for this area in June. A few notes there is only central heat, unless I missed it, so if you like cool nights for sleeping, something to consider, there was a large fan stored in downstairs room, nice add. If a non summer night, exactly what you want with fireplace and bathroom floor heaters. If you have two families and first time visitor to the area, this is a great option, has a pool table and bean bag toss in closed garage. Large Washer and a double stack dryers (as in two).

Super Cute Rustic and Clean Home 40 minutes to YNP
Sadie’s place was a charming tiny home that had plenty of space to relax and spread out. It was nice and quiet except for the current construction on the main road that made getting in and out a bit difficult. Nonetheless it was a good place and we would recommend it.

Latitude 44 Lodge+HOTUB+AC+WIFI+
Amazing place. The house has everything you need. Massage chair is a plus. The description says that it is a house to the right but it’s not. It is the house on the left side. We got confused on which house exactly but the pictures helped. It’s not too far from the Yellowstone national park. Would love to stay here again.

Your guide to Island Park
All About Island Park
Island Park is a cherished vestibule of Yellowstone National Park, with its scenic evergreens and array of crystal-clear streams, springs, ponds, and lakes. Island Park’s businesses tend to line US Route 20, including its charming eateries and shops, as well as two theatres hosting local productions. At an elevation of 6,293 feet, the city is Idaho’s highest, and many of its parks and natural areas are defined by its setting in Henry’s Fork Caldera, a hollow comprising the western part of the Greater Yellowstone’s Island Park Caldera, one of the largest calderas in the world.
Harriman State Park offers a window into the unique ecosystem of the area with its range of hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, and horseback riding trails. There’s no shortage of opportunities for wildlife sightings in the area, as many of the city’s nearby parks — including Henrys Lake State Park and Big Springs — are teeming with elk, moose, bears, and native birds like the Sandhill Crane and Trumpeter Swan.
The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Island Park
The summer, especially July and August, is the most popular time for visitors. Many of the area’s outdoor activities — wildlife viewing, hiking, swimming, river rafting, horseback riding, camping, canoeing, and more — are best experienced in the summer. Due to its high elevation, the region still experiences relatively low temperatures in the summer, so it’s important to be prepared with warm clothing year-round. The area sees a lot of snowfall between November and April — nearly 200 inches per year — so there’s still plenty going on for visitors looking to hit the slopes, hop on a snowmobile, or hit the trails on snowshoes. Winter also offers a schedule of unique events in Island Park, including Wild West WinterFest, which features a snowmobile parade and fireworks show.
Top things to do in Island Park
Sawtell Peak
Look out on views of the Centennial Valley and Yellowstone from the 9,875-foot summit of Sawtell Peak. Hiking has its merits, but driving up the 12-mile gravel road of this mountain gives your feet a rest and saves your breath, as the commanding vista is sure to take it away.
Upper Mesa Falls
Take a 15-minute drive off Route 20 south along the Mesa Falls Scenic Byway and see one of Idaho’s most impressive waterfalls, Upper Mesa Falls. Set in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest, the 114-foot waterfall is an accessible, family-friendly attraction with its obliging nature trails, visitor center, and lookout point.
Harriman State Park
This 16,000-acre park and wildlife refuge is one of the area’s most popular spots for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Some 22 miles of trails weave through protected evergreen forest featuring rivers, streams, and meadows, as well as the array of wildlife that roam the park, which includes the Trumpeter Swan, the world’s largest species of waterfowl. During the winter, the park offers skiing and snowshoeing trails.
