Vacation rentals with lake access in Houghton Lake

Super responsive and very friendly, accommodating host! Location was perfectly located in Higgins lake area. Walkable neighborhood and trails across the street. Cabin has everything you would want or need for up-north getaway. Nice furniture and tv to relax after a day on the lake.

We have stayed at Tom’s place a few times now. He is a very responsive and accommodating host that has a place that is exactly as described. This place is great for staying in the woods with perfect accommodations. There is also a bar/restaurant down the street that is a fun place to go. Tom even recommended the excellent pizza at the Sunoco, demonstrating his knowledge of the area. We are definitely going back as it is totally worth the experience. We use it to atv ride at the Leota trails, and thus allows us to park and ride the whole time. It’s great. Thanks again Tom!

The house is on the canal right off the lake. We kept our boat tied up right outside the house. There are a lot of extras. Lucky for us there was an extra gas can because our gas gage started acting up and we ran out of gas in the middle grounds. There are kayaks you can use. There is a washer and dryer, plus a black stone. Lots of room for parking. I loved the king size bed.

My husband and I, along with our 3 Siberian huskies stayed for 2 nights. We wished it was for longer! Jenna granted us an extra hr for check out which we really appreciated! Also, this house is incredibly clean. We were both impressed. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back. Something to note: there’s about 3-5 ft of water before you get into “muck” and the lake is full of seaweed. We brought our paddle board and floated around. The water is very clear and it was actually quite beautiful to look at the fish and even the seaweed looked beautiful. There are some deeper parts that you could definitely avoid touching any weeds. But just something to note if you plan on swimming. Also, we didn’t explore the entire lake so not sure what the far half is like. SUNRISES ARE GORGEOUS HERE! I would book this place just to watch the sunrise. And lots of wildlife. I would think kids would really enjoy it! Turtles, geese, tons of fish, loons. Again, overall highly recommend

not only is this a cute little place to stay but super close to trails and town! Amy was also so helpful and very quick to respond before and after booking! Will be rebooking in the future!

This was our second stay with Terry & we will definitely be back! He always goes above & beyond to make sure we have everything we need & is very communicative. Can’t recommend enough!

Place was great right next to the water. We didn’t stay much at the Airbnb it was also 2 units in one. So to go to each others unit you need to go outside just an FYI we’re all guys who went on a golf trip so it didn’t matter to us but if you have family it might be different or better depending on your situation.

The place was very clean, which is always my #1 priority. It was tastefully decorated. There was a musty smell, I’m sure caused by the concrete. We left the windows open and febreezed often and that seemed to help. The only thing I wasn’t happy with was the bed. The bed and pillows were not comfortable at all. I would stay here again, if there was a different mattress and pillows. The location was great for us! The traffic noise wasn’t a problem for us. We really enjoyed the short walk to the water! Very nice.

We really enjoyed staying at Fawn’s place!! This was a top tier place! She thought of everything and provided so many extras like snacks, an assortment of drinks and even chocolates on the pillows. The decor was very well done and it was so clean and comfortable. It was a great spot to stay as we explored some of north Michigan. We slept well and the surroundings were very peaceful and quiet. We would stay here again without any hesitation. Fawn was quick to answer questions and help in any way. We enjoyed staying here very much!!

This was a perfect place to stay for a few days while in the area for a conference. The place was clean and comfortable. The beach access was a nice added bonus.

An absolutely beautiful space and amazing hosts. I had the perfect stay with Monica and Gary, they were so friendly and helpful. The apartment is the cleanest rental I have ever stayed in by far, the view from the balcony is beautiful and the lake access is beautiful with a large sandy beach. I will definitely be staying here again when I visit lake city. Also, very comfy beds and a quiet peaceful neighborhood. Highly recommend.

We had a great time staying at Juli and Corky’s place! Everything was so nice and the amenities were well thought out and very thoughtful! And Juli was great to talk to and super helpful and very pleasant. If I’m up here again I will definitely check availability of their homes!

We had a wonderful, peaceful stay at Daphne & Will's gorgeous home. To say they went above and beyond would be an understatement – their space was filled with tasteful decorations, thoughtful touches, and high-quality finishes and furnishings. There was no way we could use every amenity available on a short 3-day stay, but that's all the more reason to come back and enjoy the space again sometime in the future. We particularly enjoyed the fireplace, view of the trees and lake, and comfy sofa – perfect for a relaxing trip. Will and Daphne struck the perfect balance of responsiveness, giving space, and friendliness. Airbnb perfection.

We were thrilled to find a last minute cancellation at this hidden gem for our labor day weekend trip! Kathy's directions were very thorough. The best part was that she included the use of all of her water toys in the rental - there were two stand-up paddle boards, numerous kayaks and a big rectangular floating pad that the kids loved. The biggest island in the center of Spider Lake is a very doable paddle from there. This property faces north on the lake which is the perfect vantage point to see the Aurora Borealis if the conditions are right, which they were for our time! This has been on my bucket list, so I am beyond thrilled! The stars are amazing too! We all felt comfortable inside and my husband said he had one of the best sleeps he's had in a long time. The kids loved the loft beds. We just wish that the spiders of Spider Lake weren't so abundant on the docks, so our arachnophobic girls could relax more, but there's not much that could have been done about them.

What a beautiful place to stay and come back to after a long day of training for a week. It was peaceful, quiet, had a fireplace, a private lake that we used for kayaking, an indoor pool, and a tennis court. There was even $1 ice cream bars at the community center. Host was responsive and gave heads up about things as needed. They did not bombard with unnecessary information and gave clear instructions and recommendations in a binder provided. The only thing we wished it offered was the ability to bring our dog. We would definitely come back for a getaway trip though.

The Blue Gill Cottage was a beautiful place to spend Memorial Day weekend with our family! The location is so peaceful and relaxing. We enjoyed the beautiful lakefront view, kayaking and fishing during the day and bonfires at night! Barbara was a wonderful host who was quick to respond with any questions we had. We highly recommend! We plan on many more visits in the future!

True North at Higgins Lake is a great find. It is immaculately clean with special touches like local art and a well stocked bathroom and kitchen. Beds and linens are nice like what you’d expect in a higher-end hotel. Just a short walk to the lovely Higgins Lake and a fire pit to enjoy s’mores. Natalie provides exceptional, unfussy instructions. We felt very comfortable there.

We had a wonderful stay at the Lily Pad Cottage. The surroundings were peacefull and serene. We enjoyed the beauty of nature everyday. We saw Orioles & hummingbirds, bunnies, a mama deer with her fawn, a snake, frogs, a loon on the lake. We fished, we kayaked. We enjoyed the beauty of Bass Lake. The cottage was very cozy. We especially enjoyed the sun porch and its beautiful views. Patti has a great response time. We had one small issue and it was fixed within an hour.

My husband and I and our two girls had a wonderful time. The girls loved the loft area. Beautiful fall colors. We went to the Charlevoix Apple Fest while in town, and found some petoskey stones as well. Highly recommended wood shop social restaurant in Mount Pleasant. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

This place was amazing! Perfect for a family of 10 plus two pups. This house had everything you needed and more! It had all the water toys, games for family night, fishing poles and chairs to surround the fire at night with everyone. The dock was perfect to stand for hours to fish and catch any quantity and quality of fish. My family and I were amazed with our stay in an air bnb. I highly recommend this place to stay in, and we’re already planning our next trip here. Evelyn was very helpful, tentative and warned us of storms heading our way. We really appreciate everything.

My husband and I had a wonderful time relaxing at this lake house. It had everything needed for us to kick back, relax, and unplug. Our host was very responsive with every contact that we made! The only thing I would add to the house description is that there are a few pretty tall steps in the house, so someone with bad knees might want to consider that. Great place and well with the money!

Wow! This place was absolutely amazing. It was perfect for our family of 4. It was so clean, quiet and cozy. We felt right at home and the house was spotless. The owners of this AirBnB were absolutely amazing and so kind. We have recommended this spot to our family back in Kentucky if they ever decide they want to take a trip up here. The neighbors were so kind, the view was amazing! Not to mention, Tina and David have this house stocked for whatever you may need, plenty of utensils, pots, pans, etc. Anything you may have forgotten at home, I’ll bet you they have it! We will absolutely be back. Huge thank you to the owners again.
